Phytochemical Polysulfides, a Plant Base Anti Bacterial and Fungal Infection Alternative

Scientists may have found a natural antibiotic for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infection, according to the study.

Polysulfides are phytochemicals in a class of chemical compounds containing chains of sulfur atoms, belongings to the group ofOrganosulfides found abundantly in the oxidized product, including beer, wine, whiskey, garlic oil, etc.

Furthermore, in order to exert the maximum effect in immunity, the biological activity of polysulfides depends on initial antioxidant-enzymatic activation to be generated with high target selectivity.

Moreover, in examing the polysulfides activity against the increase in the number of systemic fungal diseases, researchers showed that polysulfides found in the garlic extracts or essential oils demonstrated a clinically significant effect in fungal infection. the bioactive compound was considered an alternative way of protection of foodstuffs from contamination.

In vitro and in vivo, polysulfide derivatives isolated by chemical reaction also exhibited a potent antifungal acti.vity against candidosis in the tested mice.

Taken altogether, Polysulfides isolated from garlic may have a therapeutic effect in improving the immune activity against the bacterial and fungal infection with no side effects
