The use of plants for healing purposes has been predated long before the existence of  modern medicine. Herbal plants have formed a fundamental source for conventional medicine in discovery of single ingredient medication, including aspirin (from willow bark), quinine (from cinchona bark), and morphine (from the opium poppy)......

Aloe Vera may be used as potential herbal medicine in enhanced immune function in promoted immunostimulatory and immunomodulatory expression.

Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belonging to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan, used in herbal medicine in treating various diseases, including wound, burn healing, minor skin infections, sebaceous cysts, diabetes, and elevated of cholesterol, etc.

Immunomodulatory effect is an action  involved regulation of immune system against invasion of foreign subjects in promoted infection and inflammation.

According to the joint study lead by the Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg, oral administrated (AVH200®), an aloe vera extract modified the protein involved activation, proliferation and cytokine secretion of healthy human blood T cells, in a dose dependent manner.

Aloe-emodin(AE), a major constituent found in Aloe Vera exerted a positive effect in significantly enhanced dabrafenib (a BARF inhibitor) antiproliferative activity of mutant cell lines through immunomodulatory activity

The study also confirmed that AE possesses remarkable antineoplastic properties of drug(dabrafenib)  used in treatment of metastatic colon cancer, against melanoma cells.

In candida albicans, A. vera extract and its fractions on infected macrophages demonstrated an anti fungal effect through activated and modulated the immune response.

Furthermore, the extract also significantly increased cell viability of macrophages, in comparison with control group.

Additionally,  polysaccharide isolated from Aloe Vera explictly also enhanced immune function in producing specific antibody and inducing delayed hypersensitivity in mice model.

Collectively, chemical constituents found in Aloe vera have showed to exhibit immunomodulatory effects in regulated immune function against foreign invasion and allergic reactions and irregular cell growth, but further studies are necessary to confirm this validation.
