Bastard Teak (Premna tomentosa) is Indian ayurvedic medicine used widely in the treatment of liver disorder.
Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
is defined as a condition of the fatty liver diseases as a result of
accumulated of fat in the liver, not caused by abusive alcohol
consumption.
The prevalence of non alcoholic of liver disease is
worrisome to Western world as it not only effects the organs donors, but
also increase the medical cost in the future. AS well known, the liver
is the first live of defense in detoxifying toxin accumulated in the
body, and healthy liver is associated with a balanced diet that includes nutrients and herbs that support a healthy liver. In the study of the extracts from the ayurvedic plant,
Premna tomentosa (PT), pretreatment of (750 mg/kg, orally) for 15 days
and then induced with hepatotoxicity by AA (640 mg/kg,
intraperitoneally) in animals, was found to significantly inhibit
induced alterations in the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, free fatty acids, phospholipids, serum lipoproteins, and lipid-metabolizing enzymes, as well as to exert a beneficial effect against liver
injury-induced membrane damage. Of that result, the extract may be
considered for human trial for it efficacy in treating liver disorder,
including Non alcoholic fatty disease.

Phytochemicals Berberine and resveratrol and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
Bernerine is a phytochemical found abundantly in root, bark, stem in
plants of Berberis, including Oregon grape, barberry, tree turmeric,
etc.
Resveratrol is a phytochemical in the class of Stilbenoids, found abundantly in skins and seed of grape wine, nuts, peanuts, etc.
Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease is defined as a condition of the fatty liver diseases as a result of accumulated of fat in the liver, not caused by abusive alcohol consumption.
Sadly to say, Non alcoholic liver diseases has become most prevalence incidence to cause liver diseases because of uncontrolled diet with high in saturated fat. Conventional medication such as ameliorate, a cholesterol absorption inhibitor, is found to be effective in decreasing cholesterol absorption in the small intestine and ameliorated non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) pathology but with many side effects.
In herbal medicine, certain herbs have found to be effective not only in reducing the symptoms of non alcoholic, but also prevent the abnormal alanine aminotransferase functions and fat accumulation in liver.
Berberine and resveratrol, the phytochemical found abundantly in many vegetables and fruits as well herbs and herbal formulae such as Polygonum hypoleucum Ohwi, and Artemisia sacrorum Ledeb., and formulae including Yinchenhao Decoction (, YCHD), Qushi Huayu Decoction (, QSHYD), and Danning Tablet, were found not only to improve biochemical and histological change in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, but also associated with inhibiting lipid accumulation through adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase activation or up regulating low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) expression, alleviating lipid peroxidation, and reducing the production of inflammatory cytokines. In such instance, Berberine and resveratrol, may be considered as a potential treatment for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in the future.

Beeswax and Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
is defined as a condition of the fatty liver diseases as a result of
accumulated of fat in the liver, not caused by abusive alcohol
consumption.
Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the bee hive of honey bees of the genus Apis, containing mainly esters of fatty acids and many types of long chain alcohols.
The benefits
Beeswax has been promoted as a healthy product for commercial profits in many parts of the world. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), as a result of abnormal function in fat accumulated in the liver. is associated with insulin resistance, liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, as a result of abnormal function in fat accumulated in the liver. D-002, a mixture of beeswax alcohols, in the study to test it efficacy in 50 NAFLD randomized to receive a placebo or D-002 (100 mg/day) for 24 weeks, D-002 exhibited a normal liver echo pattern on ultrasonography, improved symptoms and reduced insulin levels. Of that result, D002, may be considered as a potential agent in treating Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Potassium and stroke
Dietary Minerals are the group of minerals essential for our body to sustain normal functions and physical health.
In General, potassium is an essential mineral to our body in building proteins and muscles, breaking down carbohydrates, maintaining normal body growth and normal heart electricity, etc.
Besides cancer and heart diseases, stroke is the third leading cause of death. Approximate 1/4 of all stroke victims die as a direct result of the stroke or it's complications.
The benefits
Prolonged period intake of low potassium diet may cause lower serum potassium level in diuretic users, and low potassium intake in those not taking diuretic were associated with increased stroke incidence in elder. Lower serum potassium also was associated with a particularly high risk for stroke in the small number of diuretic users. Other in the study of dietary potassium and total energy intake estimated that at baseline by using a 24-hour dietary recall, patients, who follow a low potassium diet of <34.6 mmol potassium per day are at 28% higher hazard of stroke and stroke-associated mortality.
The Side effects
Overdose of potassium, also known as hyperkalemia may result of symptoms of hypotension, stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, irritability, fatigue, etc., and in some cases, it can be life-threatening due to electrolyte abnormality.

Curcumin and Non alcoholic Fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
is defined as a condition of the fatty liver diseases as a result of
accumulated of fat in the liver, not caused by abusive alcohol
consumption.
Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia. The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.. Curcumin is one of the natural phenols in the plant.
Turmeric has long been used in herbal medicine in treating diseases and today its curcuminoid, curcumin has attracted many interests from researchers in many parts of the world. Curcumin, as an antihyperlipidemic agents, has been found to lower the "bad cholesterol" low density lipoprotein (LDL), and increase high density lipoprotein (HDL) of which reduce the risk of fat accumulated in the tissues in the liver. Ecessive fat deposited in hepatocytes may cause metabolic imbalances, causing Non- alcoholic fatty liver diseases. In the support of the above, the water-soluble curcumin derivative was tested for its efficacy against steatohepatitis which is an inflammation of the liver with concurrent fat accumulation in liver , the derivative not only significantly alleviated fibrosis but also decreased the grade of liver steatosis.

Hawthorn is a shrubs and trees of the genus Crataegus, belonging to the family Rosaceae, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere in Europe, Asia and North America. The herb has been used in traditional medicine to treat heart disease and symptoms of heart diseases such as irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, chest pain, hardening of the arteries, etc., circulatory disorders and respiratory illnesses.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is emerging as a widespread condition in US as approximate 30% of adult population are obese. Finding the natural treatments become for less or no side effects has become urgency in many scientific community including researchers in Universities. Alternative medicines for the treatment of NAFLD have been proven with many successful histories of controlling disease with no or less side effects, if compares to conventional treatment of the same. In a randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for the efficiency of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on the treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), Chinese herbal formulas have found to be effective in reducing the abnormality of alanine aminotransferase functions and fat accumulation in liver. Out of 246 kinds of Chinese herb, Hawthorn Fruit is found mostly in the list of many formulas. Of that reason, the herb may contain certain chemical constituents effectively in treatments of Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Food Therapy - Strawberries and leukaemia (CEM)
Strawberry
is a genius of Fragaria × ananassa belongs to the family Roseaceae.
They have been grown all over the world with suitable climate for
commercial profits and for health benefits.
Leukemia is defined as condition of abnormal increase of white blood cells produced by the bone marrow and/or the lymphatic system. Depending to the malignant granulocytes or lymphocytes, leukemia is classified into myelogenous or lymphoblastic leukemia.
Intake of certain amounts of berry fruits, including strawberries, has been suggested to have beneficial effects against oxidative stress mediated diseases. The methanolic extract of strawberry (MESB) fruits are found to inhibit the tumor cell proliferation by activating apoptosis with no side effects in a time-dependent manner and resulted in extended life span. Other in the study of flavonoids from strawberry 'Nohime', showed the effect of these flavonoids on the degranulation in RBL-2H3 cells. due to suppression of [Ca(2+)]i elevation and Syk activation.

Herbal Arctostaphylos uva-ursi as antioxidants
Arctostaphylos uva-ursi is one of the species of Bearberry, in the genus Arctostaphylos, belonging to the family Ericaceae, native to the
northern North America, Asia and Europe. The herb has been used in
traditional medicine as diuretic agent and to treat urinary problems,
including bladder infections, kidney infection, kidney stone, pelvic
pain, etc.
A free radical is any atom or molecule that has a single unpaired electron in an outer shell and highly reactive to react with other cell, which in turn, causes oxidative damage to the enzymes, other protein, unsaturated fatty acid, phospho-lipids, DNA and RNA, etc., leading to aging of the organisms, as a result of widespread damage due to set of a chain reaction auto-catalytically after attacking the lipid bilayers of the cell walls.
The Ingredients
It contains arbutin, ursolic acid, tannic acid, gallic acid, some essential oil and resin, hydroquinones tannins, phenolic glycosides and flavonoids.
The benefits
In the evaluation of the antioxidant effect regard to single dose of plant extracts and their concentration in human organism, indicated that Arctostaphylos uva. was found to be less effective when compare to Hypericum perforatum, Potentilla erectra, Ledum palustre, Plantago major, Salvia officinalis > Chamomilla recutita. Other in the study of Modulatory effects of resveratrol, citroflavan-3-ol, and plant-derived extracts, Etoposide-induced oxidative stress was strongly reduced by olive leaf extract and bearberry. Also, The extracts of A. patula and A. viscida from Arctostaphylos plants showed potent inhibition against tyrosinase as it not only inhibited the production of melanin from dopachrome by autoxidation, but exhibited SOD (superoxide dismutase)-like activity and had a moderate absorbance in the UV-B area.

Herbal Andrographis and Hepatitis
Andrographis paniculata
is also known as Andrographis is a herbaceous plant, genus
Andrographis, belonging to the family Acanthaceae, native to India and
Sri Lanka. It has been used in traditional Siddha and Ayurvedic in
treating the common cold, flu, upper respiratory infections, infectious
diseases, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, pneumonia, swollen lymph nodes,
leprosy, bronchitis, sore throats, tuberculosis, chicken pox, etc.
Hepatitis is characterized by the destruction of a number of liver cells and the presence of inflammatory cells in the liver tissue caused by excessive alcohol drinking, disorders of the gall bladder or pancreas, including medication side effects, and infections. There are many other infective agents that can cause inflammation of the liver, or hepatitis. However, the term is unfortunately commonly used to refer to a particular group of viruses such as Hepatitis A, B, and C.
The Ingredients
Beside the main ingredient andrographolides, giving the plant a bitter taste, other ingredients includediterpene lactones, such as: neoandrographolide, andrographiside, 14-doexy-11, 12-didehydro andrographolide, etc., flavonoinds viz., oroxylin, wogonin, andrographidines A, B, C, D, E, F.
The benefits
Picroliv (active principle from Picrorrhiza kurroa) with major chemical constituent of andrographolide (active constituent of Andrographis paniculata) was tested in HBsAg positive serum samples obtained from hepatitis B virus (HBV) associated acute and chronic liver diseases and healthy HBsAg paitnets, found that Picroliv also inhibited purified HBV antigens (HBsAg and HBsAg) prepared from healthy HBsAg carriers amd may be considered as a potential agent against HBV. In anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) study of andrographolide, a diterpenoid lactone extracted from Andrographis paniculata, reseachers found that activated p38 MAPK phosphorylation, which stimulated nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)-mediated HO-1 expression, and this was found to be associated with its anti-HCV activity. Other in the study of infective hepatitis, Kalmegh(Andrographis paniculata Nees)showed as a promised agent as on the total assessment 80% cases of this series were cured and 20% patients were relieved.
The Side effects
1. Antifertility
Dry leaf powder of A. paniculata increases the risk accumulating of glycogen and cholesterol in the testis, and increased activities of lactate dehydrogenase in testis and alkaline phosphatase in testis and ventral prostate, thus reducing the risk of fertility.
2. People with gallbladder disease may want to consult with their doctor before using because of the herb stimulating gallbladder contraction effect.

Dietary Potassium and Cardiovascular diseases
Dietary Minerals are the group of minerals essential for our body to sustain normal functions and physical health.
In General, potassium is an essential mineral to our body in building proteins and muscles, breaking down carbohydrates, maintaining normal body growth and normal heart electricity, etc.
Beside cancer, heart disease kills more than 2,000 Americans everyday. Approximately 60 million Americans have heart disease. There are many causes of heart diseases. Most of heart diseases are caused by high blood pressure contributes to hardening of the arteries. High levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) build up in the arteries as a result of uncontrolled diet with high levels of saturated fat and trans fat. All these add to the formation of atherosclerosis lesions and eventually arterial blockage or anything that serves to damage the inner lining of blood vessels and impedes the transportation of oxygen and nutrition to the heart.
The benefits
High diet of potassium is found to be effective in reducing the risk of stroke and CHD and total CVD, in the 11 Eleven studies with 15 cohort samples that included 247,510 male and female participants (follow-up 5 to 19 years), 7,066 strokes, 3,058 coronary heart disease (CHD) events. A systematic review also indicated that increased potassium intake reduces blood pressure in people with hypertension and has no adverse effect on blood lipid concentrations, catecholamine concentrations, or renal function in adults.
The Side effects
Overdose of potassium, also known as hyperkalemia may result of symptoms of hypotension, stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, irritability, fatigue, etc., and in some cases, it can be life-threatening due to electrolyte abnormality.

cells of prostate has become cancerous, causing abnormal cell growth
which spread to the distant parts of the body. Most prostate cancers
are slow growing and enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be
detected during the Physical (rectum) exams.
The ten main areas of chemical constituents of Aloe vera include: Aloe-Emodin, amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, lignins, monosaccharide, polysaccharides, salicylic acid, saponins, and sterols.
The benefits
Aloe-amodin, an anthraquinone in aloe latex from the aloe plant has been found to suppress Breast Cancer Cell Proliferation through ER α Inhibition. In prostate cancer study, it found to inhibite both proliferation and anchorage-independent growth of PC3 cells by by targeting mTORC2 as mTORC2 plays an important role in PC3 androgen refractory prostate cell proliferation and anchorage-independent growth.

Herbal Andrographis and Oral Cancer
Andrographis paniculata
is also known as Andrographis is a herbaceous plant, genus
Andrographis, belonging to the family Acanthaceae, native to India and
Sri Lanka. It has been used in traditional Siddha and Ayurvedic in
treating the common cold, flu, upper respiratory infections, infectious
diseases, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, pneumonia, swollen lymph nodes,
leprosy, bronchitis, sore throats, tuberculosis, chicken pox, etc.
Oral cancer is any malignant cell growth in the tissue located in the oral cavity, including the tissue of the lips or the tongue, cheek lining, floor of the mouth, gums (gingiva) and the roof of the mouth (palate).
The NF-κB family, sequestered in the cytoplasm by a family of inhibitors, is essential for promoting cell proliferation and preventing cell apoptosis. Andrographolide (Andro) isolated from an herbal plant, Andrographis paniculata reduced phosphorylation of p65 (Ser536) and IκBα (Ser32/36) for inhibiting aberrant NF-κB activation, suppressed c-Myc and cyclin D1 expression and attenuated neoplastic cell proliferation, promoted cancerous cell apoptosis, and mitigated tumor-induced angiogenesis and may be considered as potential component to treats chemically induced oral squamous cell carcinogenesis. Other researchers consider Andrographolide, is a promising strategy for the development of a novel class of anti-inflammatory and anticancer drugs as its bioactive molecules have exhibited anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities in both in vitro and in vivo.

Food Therapy - Strawberries and Heart diseases
Strawberry is a
genius of Fragaria × ananassa belongs to the family Roseaceae. They
have been grown all over the world with suitable climate for commercial
profits and for health benefits.
The Side effects
1. Some people may beexperience anaphylactoid reaction to the consumption of strawberries

Dietary Minerals - Potassium and hypertension
Dietary Minerals are the group of minerals essential for our body to sustain normal functions and physical health.
In General, potassium is an essential mineral for our body to build proteins and muscle, break down carbohydrates, maintain normal body growth and normal heart electricity, etc.
Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. High blood pressure means raising pressure in your heart. If it stays high over time it can damage the body in many ways.
The effects
Administration of high potassium diets is found to be effective in lowering of blood pressure in some animal models of hypertension. Researchers suggested that the effect may be the result of diuretic action in reducing the extracellular fluid volume, thus decreased blood pressure. Others insisted that the lowering blood pressure of high potassium diet may influence the potassium modifies central or the peripheral neural mechanisms in regulating blood pressure. In fact, increase fruit and vegetable intake such as banana, papaya, mango, spinach, tomatoes, etc., may help increase dietary potassium and reduce hypertension-related disease.
Side effects
Overdose of potassium, also known as hyperkalemia may cause symptoms of hypotension, stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, irritability, fatigue, etc., and in some cases, it can be life-threatening due to electrolyte abnormality.
