The prostate warped around the urethra is a gland of the male reproductive system found in front of the rectum and just below the bladder responsible for making some of the semen that carries sperm.
The muscle of the prostate gland also plays a critical in nourishing and protecting sperm by secreting fluid in perm ejaculation into the urethra.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) is a condition that increases numbers of the cell of prostate tissues, causing partial, or sometimes virtually complete obstruction of the urinary tract.
According to statistics, BPH commonly starts at the age of 30 and symptoms usually can not be realized until the age of 50.
More than half of men between the age of 60-70 experience symptoms of BPH and only 10% is required treatment.

Most symptoms of an enlarged prostate are related to bladder function in urinary excretion. If you experience some of the symptoms of a weak stream of urine, difficulty starting urination, dribbling of urine, especially after urinating,..... and a sense of not fully emptying the bladder, you may develop enlarge prostate.
In severe cases, patients may also develop symptoms of night time frequent urination and a strong and sudden desire to urinate,.... and blood in the urine.
As the size of the prostate increase, the sex organ pressed on the urethra not only causes urinary problems but also induce urinary pain (dysuria or pain with urination).
On finding a potential phytochemical for the protection of the prostate gland, researchers examined the effects of Azuprostat, a beta-sitosterol, in patients with symptoms of outlet obstruction caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
The randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of 130 mg free beta-sitosterol (phytosterol) daily, using the international prostate symptom score (IPSS) as the primary outcome variable in a total of 177 patients with BPH who were recruited for 6 months treatment in 13 study centers.
According to the secondary outcome variables, beta-sitosterol showed an increase in Qmax (4.5 mL/s) and a decrease in PVR (33.5 mL) after adjusting to the changes compared to the placebo.
Based on the findings, researchers said, "These results show that a beta-sitosterol is an effective option in the treatment of BPH".
Taken altogether, beta-Sitosterol may be considered a functional supplement for the prevention and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of beta-Sitosterol in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.
