Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of cardiac fibroids some scientists suggested.

The study of rat cardiac fibroblasts caused by injected by angiotensinII (AngII) also revealed that green tea inhibited the abnormal increase in level of connective tissue growth factor CTGF by decreased expression of the nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65 subunit and degradation of IκB-α in induced promotion of fibroblast proliferation and extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation, thereby exacerbating cardiac hypertrophy and subsequent failure were attributed to bioactive polyphenol EGCG expression in significantly reduced collagen synthesis, fibronectin (FN) expression and cell proliferation.

In deed, due to the activity of CTGF as a matricellular protein modulating the fibrotic process in cardiac remodelling, some researchers suggested that the gowth factor may be considered as a biomarker for cardiac fibrosis for therapeutic intervention to mitigate fibrosis in the heart.

Interestingly, in the evaluated the effect of GABA tea, containing a high level of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in cardiac function with male Wistar rats injected with 55 mg/kg streptozotocin (STZ) to induce diabetes for 2 weeks and then orally given dosages of 4.55 and 45.5 mg/kg/day GABA tea extract for 6 weeks, researchers revealed that rats treated with injection of GABA tea not only induces fasting blood glucose levels returned to normal levels but also inhibits cardiac fibrosis in compared to untreated group.

Further experiments also showed that GABA tea in ameliorated cardiac deposit risk was attributed to inhibited the protein levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), Fas and activated caspase-8 and caspase-3 induced in STZ rats in mediated cardiomyocyte apoptosis which has been found in elevation in patient with cardiac dysfunction such as cardiac fibrosis and an indication of chronic hemodynamic overloading and early cardiac decompensation.

Dr. Cherng SH, the lead authors suggested," (GABA tea reduced)cardiac fibrosis (expression) in diabetic rats may be mediated by reducing blood glucose and further attenuating TNF-alpha expression and/or Fas/Fas ligand (FasL)-mediated apoptosis".

Unfortunately, injection of  bioactive polyphenols (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in high dose was found to induce the oppositely effect by increasing cardiac fibroids.

According to the study of green tea bioactive polyphenols (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in  risk of cardiac fibroids induction of myocardiotoxicity in animal model, at the the joint study lead by the Guangzhou Medical University, injection of EGCG 500 and 1000 mg/kg demonstrated a significant effect in initiated cardiac collagen synthesis involved in the formation of filtration systems, through cells differentiation in connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) mRNA expression and protein produced by fibroblasts.

Further more, the application of green tea extract also displayed an exhibited fibrosis-related protein expression in induction of cardiac fibroids deposit through stimulating function of fibronectin (FN), a ubiquitous extracellular matrix (ECM) glycoprotein circulated in the blood to initiated heart muscle repair.

Human immunodeficiency virus -1 (HIV-1) is one of  2 types of HIV precipitated of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), transmitted through direct contact with HIV-infected body fluids, including blood, semen, and genital secretions,....

Further more, application of  theaflavins (TFmix) also inhibited reverse transcriptase (RT) activity, an RNA-dependent DNA, which is the process in replication of RNA from a DNA template through polymerase (DNAP) enzyme in forming new copies of DNA, in the form of nucleic acid molecules, with the IC(50) about 8-fold higher of theaflavins (TFmix) concentration than that for inhibiting gp41 6-HB formation.

In peptide fragments, derived from prostatic acidic phosphatase secreted in large amounts into human semen to form amyloid fibrils plaques with function to induced viral infection (SEVI), through capturing the HIV virions and direct them to target cells into liver cell to initiated entry step, during sexual activity, injection of green tea epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) inhibited the expression of SEVI and revoked semen in mediated enhancement of HIV-1 infection through precipitated viral degradation without induced healthy cell toxicity.

Further analysis of green tea EGCG activity using HIV-1 infectivity on human CD4+ T cells, at a physiologic concentration of 6μM, EGCG significantly inhibited HIV-1 p24 antigen production in expression of acute infection in both HIV-1 clinical isolates and laboratory-adapted subtypes B C, D, and G.

Particularly, EGCG-induced inhibition of HV-1 infectivity was not due to cytotoxicity, cell growth inhibition, nor apoptosis but blocking the HIV activity in attachment of HIV-1-gp120, a glycoprotein exposed on the surface of the HIV envelope to the CD4 molecule in the entry point in initiated infectivity.
Dr. Christina L., the lead author concluded, "(by) preventing the attachment of HIV-1-gp120 to the CD4 molecule, EGCG inhibits HIV-1 infectivity. As this inhibition can be achieved at physiologic concentrations, the natural anti-HIV agent, EGCG, is a candidate as an alternative therapy in HIV-1 therapy".

Alternative Therapy: Yoga Intervention in Reduced Incidence of Intrauterine Growth Retardation(IUGR)

Yoga intervention may have a profound effect in reduced risk of giving birth of an intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) infant, particularly in high risk women, the study by the Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (sVYASA) postulated.

Intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR) is a condition characterized by smaller unborn baby due to not growing at a normal rate inside the womb.

Yoga, the practical ancient technique for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement and gesture..... has been best known for people in Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

In a prospective, matched, observational study of a total of 121 women attending antenatal clinic at Gunasheela Surgical and Maternity Hospital (GSMH) in Bangalore, India, enrolled between 18-20 weeks of pregnancy with women assigned to the yoga group (including physical postures, breathing and meditation were practised by the yoga group, one hour daily, from the date of entry into the study until delivery period) and 53 women to the control group (walked half an hour twice a day during the study), researchers found that yoga group scores a significant higher in giving birth to a baby of normal birth-weight, as well as decreasing complications of pregnancy in compared to control group.

Indeed, growth of the baby depends upon the diet of pregnant women, expecting mom’s physical health as well as providing nutrients to the baby needed.

Yoga breathing and relaxation reduced daily and pregnancy stress through calming the central nervous system by connecting the mind and body, bringing back the present moment while letting go of them or deal them in the positive way.

More profoundly, in the total of 335 women attending the antenatal clinic at Gunasheela Surgical and Maternity Hospital in Bangalore, India, enrolled between 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy in a prospective, matched, observational study with 169 women in the yoga group and 166 women in the control group, researchers found that yoga group expressed improvement of all aspects in compared to control, including higher number of babies with normal birth weight > or = 2500 grams, reduced significant cases of preterm labor and complications of isolated intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) (p < 0.003) and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) with associated IUGR (p < 0.025) in compared to control.

The findings suggested that yoga therapy is safe and may be used as integrated approach during pregnancy to decreases IUGR either in isolation or associated with PIH, with no increased risk of complications.

Hepatitis B is a viral infection of acute and chronic liver disease, caused by a double stranded DNA virus HBV transmitted through infected blood, semen, or other body fluid.

However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.

According to the evaluation of the effect of green tea bioactive polyphenos epigallocatechin-3 gallate (EGCG) and risk of hepatitis B, application of the phytochemical  inhibited HBV replication in the testing Hep3B2.1-7 hepatocellular carcinoma cell line, through a significant effect in reduced prevalence of liver damage caused by hepatitis B virus.

Interesting, injection of EGCG  at the dose of less than 100 μM in the observed liver cancer cell line showed no effect in induced cell apoptosis and decreased proliferation but exhibited a strong effect in ameliorated expression of surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus (HBsAg) and antigen of hepatitis B virus circulated in infected blood (HBeAg) levels found by the ELISA method and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR)assay.

Further differentiation in different HepG2 2.2.15 cells to compare the effective of green tea with standard antiretroviral medication lamivudine (3TC), researchers indicated that administration of EGCG shows a significant inhibition of viral proliferation through attenuated expression of levels of HBsAg and HBeAg in the supernatant and extracellular HBV DNA in a dose- and time-dependent manner. At doses of 50-200 μg/ml EGCG displayed strong effects in compared to lamivudine (3TC) at dose of 200 μg/ml.

More importantly, application of EGCG also suppressed the extracellular HBV DNA, a nutrient source for viral cell proliferation and survival through attachment, aggregation, and stabilization of microcolonies.

The results of the experiments pointed out that green tea EGCG consists a potential anti-HBV activity with low toxicity.

Additional investigation of green tea EGCG effect in the early stages of infection caused by four different Hepatitis B virus genotypes A and D also found that at dose of more than 80%, the phyochemical inhibited both DMSO-differentiated HuS-E/2 cells and HA-NTCP-expressing Huh7 cells involved cancer cell process in early stage of proliferation through induced protein degradation and ameliorated serum of tansferrin.(the iron-binding blood plasma glycoproteins that control the level of free iron in biological fluids)which isconsidered as a liver fibrosis biomarker in patients with chronic hepatitis B.

However, Treatment of cells with EGCG had no effect on HBV genome replication or virion secretion and the characteristic of HBV virion and the expression of known HBV entry factors were unaltered out side of the host before attacking the liver tissue.

All these results suggested that the green tea-derived molecule EGCG potently inhibits HBV entry and could be used in prevention and treatment of Hepatitis B. Intake of green tea supplement should be taken with to prevent overdoses cause of acute liver toxicity.

Oral cancer is medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth in the issues of mouth area. At the later stage, the cancerous cell may travel a distance away to invade other healthy tissues and organs.

Interestingly, EGCG application also displayed a significant effect in modulated the mRNA expressions of SIRT3-associated to cancer cell in induction of cell proliferation through inhibiting the production of reactive oxidative species in precipitated chain reactive in initiation of cancer cell division.

More importantly, in ROS perspective, oral administration of green tea EGCG by targeting the protein SIRT3 in exhibited antioxidant effect in protect healthy cells without affecting formation of ROS to facilitate oral cancer cell apoptosis through cytotoxicity.

Dr. Tao L, after taking into account of other cofounders, said, "SIRT3 represents a novel potential target through which EGCG exerts differential prooxidant effects in cancer and normal cells".

Further observation of the efficacy of green tea extract EGCG, also indicated that EGCG treatment increased the production of mitochondrial H2O2 in SCC-25 cells within 6 hours before inducing cancer cells apoptosis.

In antioxidant activity. green extract EGCG induced differential expression of genes related to antioxidant defense in oral cancer cell and gingival fibroblasts, which are critical in sustaining inflammation in periodontal disease through ameliorated expression of metallothionein 3 in induction of degeneration of cells and superoxide dismutase 2/3, and thioredoxin reductase 2 in facilitate oxidative stress to induce oncogenesis without increased cell proliferation of human gingival fibroblast -1 (HGF-1).

Alternative Therapy: Maternal Yoga in Reduced Risk of Preeclampsia

Epidemiological studies suggested that yoga intervention may be used to assist standard care treatment in reduced risk of  pre-eclampsia onset during pregnancy.

Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a disorder of pregnancy characterized by abnormal high blood pressure and often a significant amount of protein in the urine.

Yoga, the ancient practical technique for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement and gesture..... has been best known for people in Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

In the review literature published electronic database, PubMed, studies met the criteria and guideline selected included 54 citations in eight studies (10 reports) in the final analysis, after talking into account of other risk factors, researchers found that prenatal yoga displayed a significant effect in improvement of many aspects including pre-eclampsia in healthy women in 4 studies in compared to control.

Further differentiation also suggested that high-risk pregnant women with morbidity factors such as obesity or advanced age, participated in yoga lesson were found to induce significantly fewer cases of pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, and intrauterine growth restriction, as well as a decrease in perceived stress levels in compared to control

In deed, yoga class focused on poses, breathing exercises, meditation, visualization, guided imagery, and deep relaxation not only reduced psychological stress caused by previous pregnancy and various reasons in induction of nervous tension to precipitate hormone imbalance, particularly in keeping in check of Ang-(1-7), angiotensin I, angiotensin II and renin hormone which played a critical role in expression of high blood pressure in pregnancy but also improved blood circulation into the cervical region to provide necessary nutrients and oxygen for the fetus to growth normally.

Additionally, yoga lessons also brought back the rest with awareness of presence, while letting them go or solved them in a positive way.

Interestingly, the study to examine the effect of  stretching exercise in autonomic cardiac response, and the development of preeclampsia, conducted by the school of nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill of total of 124 women randomized to either stretching (n=60) or walking (n=64), after taking into other co founders, found that yoga stretching may be used as a physiologic framework for possible beneficial effects in enhancing autonomic responses on reducing risks for preeclampsia as fewer cases of high blood pressure were observed in women participated in the yoga class in compared to control.

Promisingly, in a randomized clinical trial of the effects of the two types of physical exercises was conducted between November 2001 and July 2006 in Washtenaw County, Michigan with participants assigned to either the walking group (n = 41) or the stretching group (n = 38). walkers exercised an average of 36 (SD, 6) minutes at 18 weeks gestation, 34 (SD, 7) minutes at 28 weeks gestation, and 31 (SD, 12) minutes at the last week of the intervention, within target heart rate ranges 35% (SD, 32%) at 18 weeks gestation, 22% (SD, 25%) at 28 weeks gestation, and 17% (SD, 25%) at the last week of the intervention, researchers showed that at 20 weeks gestation and 4,848 (SE, 452) steps at 34 weeks gestation (p 0.05), the prevalence of preeclampsia risk of yoga group with stretched exercise was 2.6% in compared to 14.6%  among the walkers.

However, observation after taking into account of other con founders and including means of all gestation periods,  the incidence of gestational hypertension was 22 % for the walkers and 40% for the stretchers with no significant differences in birth outcomes of both groups.

The decreased incidence of preeclampsia in the yoga group was found to associate with increased antioxidant activity in reduced risk inflammatory expression in elevated risk high blood pressure caused by oxidative stress induced bylipid hydroperoxide production.

With all the information collected, Dr. Yeo S, the led researchers said " Regular stretching exercises may promote endogenous antioxidants among women at risk for preeclampsia."

The findings suggested that yoga intervention as an integrated form of stretched exercise may have a positive and profound effect in reduced onset of preeclampsia, particularly in women in group of high risk pregnancy.

Food Therapy: Eggplant In Reduced Risk of Acute Inflammation and Treatment of Chronic Inflammatory Diseases

Eggplant may be used as a therapeutic and positive anti inflammatory functional food without alernating the immune activity in the acute phase of infection, some scientists opinionated.

Eggplant with deeply purple colcor, is a species of S. melongena, belongs to the family Solanaceae cultivated in southern and eastern Asia since prehistory, and native to India.

Inflammation is a natural expression by immune system in induction of while blood cells for protection our body  against infection caused by foreign invasion.

In the differentiation of water extract of Solanum melongena L. (Solanaceae) effect in induction of antioxidant, analgesic, hypolipidemic and antiallergic activity in mice induced by injection of trypsin or trans-cinnamoyl-LIGRLO-NH(2) (tc-NH(2)) into the hindpaw scientists found that oral administration of the extract at doses of 5, 10, and 100 mg/kg displayed a strong effect in inhibition of both paw edema and vascular permeability.

Further analysis also showed that the highest dose injection of 10 mg/kg expressed a greatest activity in compared to the others in significantly inhibited PAR2 agonist-induced myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity in stimulated immune function activated pro inflammatory cytokines and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha expression to precipitate inflammation in response to the acute phase of infection.

After taking into account of other confounders, Dr. Umamageswari MS suggested that water extract of the S. melongena (SMWE) inhibits PAR2 agonist-induced mouse paw edema, through its anti inflammatory expression.

According to the investigated the inflammatory activities of aqueous extract of leaves of Solanum melongena Linn in arrageenan induced paw oedema, in compared to standard medicne aspirin, oral application of Solanum melongena L. in different doses of 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg, 400mg/kg at 1(st) h, 3(rd) h, and 5(th) after injection revealed a significant effect in reduced inflammation linearly induced by carrageenan toxicity in dose dependent manner.

Additional differentiation, also suggested that the doses of 200mg/kg and 400 mg/kg of aqueous extract of S. melongena L showed the percentage of inhibition of 42.62% which is less than the standard drug aspirin which showed 64.5% inhibition.

In free radical perspective, the investigation of 4 our new lignanamides, melongenamides A-D (1-4), together with six known ones (5-10) isolated from the roots of Solanum melongena L. also demonstrated a significant activity in inhibitions of inflammatory effect caused by free radical species nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages through their antioxidant effect.

Interestingly, the study also found out that not all compound extracted from the roots expressed the same levels of antioxidant properties in reduced inflammatory induced by ROS. In compared to other compounds, compound 1 exerted antioxidant effect without inhibited free radical nitric oxide production.


The findings suggested that eggplant may be used as function food in reduced risk of inflammation in acute infection and as a adjunct therapy in combination with standard treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases.
