How to Mediate Your Sex Hormone to the Body Needed Naturally, Revealed by MEDLINE Studies

By Kyle J. Norton

Coffee, a popular and social beverage,  is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

A recent study suggested that coffee may have a direct effect in influence of sex hormone steroid-binding globulin(SSBG) in stimulated production of estrogen and testosterone depending to levels in the host.

Sex hormones are class of hormones, affecting sexual development or reproduction. Steroid-binding globulin(SSBG), is a sex hormone, having a direct effect on androgen and estrogen.

In sex hormones and sexual differentiation, most influential hormone in human sexual desire is testosterone.

Low levels of estrogen in women can also reduce sex drive caused by vaginal dryness that can lead to painful intercourse

Mentally, women with low levels of estrogen also experience unstable mood and sleep patterns that can have a strong impact in sexual desire.

However, sexual motivation is influenced by a set of hormones, including testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, oxytocin, and vasopressin...... Altogether, they control the ability to engage in sexual behaviors.

In a 8-week parallel-arm randomized controlled trial with Healthy adults (n = 42) recruited from the Boston community, including regular coffee consumers, nonsmokers, and overweight, randomized to five 6-ounce cups of caffeinated or decaffeinated instant coffee or water per day, at 4 weeks, researchers surprisingly found that
* Decaffeinated coffee drinking was associated with a borderline significantly increased levels of SHBG in women, but not in men.
*. At week 4, decaffeinated coffee decreased total and free testosterone and caffeinated coffee decreased only total testosterone in women.
*. Contrast to women participants, men consumption of caffeinated coffee displayed a significantly increased total testosterone and decreased total and free estradiol hormones.
*. The study also indicated that caffeinated coffee consumption do not exert any effect on SHBG in either men or women.

These results suggested that intake of coffee may have a strong impact in maintained normal levels of SHBG, thus reducing risk of low levels of SHBG induced higher testosterone levels in overweight women, which can lead to androgenization and development of polycystic ovarian syndrome.

And in men, higher levels of testosterone may also have a significant contribution of healthy libido, building muscle mass, and maintaining energy levels.

Some researchers suggested that increased testosterone level for middle-aged (30 to 50 years old) and older males may also improve the physical energy, strength, stamina, mental aggressiveness which were lost in aging population.

Contrast to above differentiation, in type 2 diabetic patients, coffee and coffee caffeine showed an elevated effect as a mediator of sex hormone-binding globulin in both androgen and estrogen particularly in women in compared  to the healthy young adult.

Dr. Eric L. Ding and colleagues in the study to evaluate "Sex Hormone–Binding Globulin and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Women and Men" said, " Among women, higher plasma levels of sex hormone–binding globulin were prospectively associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes and " the predicted odds ratio of type 2 diabetes per standard-deviation increase in the plasma level of sex hormone–binding globulin was 0.28 (95% CI, 0.13 to 0.58) among women and 0.29 (95% CI, 0.15 to 0.58) among men".

The analysis strongly suggested that coffee regardless to types have a negative correlation with risk of diabetes through increasing levels of SHBG.

Additionally, according to the cross-sectional study of 2377 nondiabetic pre- and postmenopausal women from the E3N cohort study in a multivariate adjusted model, intake of more than 3 cup of coffee daily coffee and caffeine ≥265 mg/day were associated with an increased SHBG level distribution (<46.3 nmol/L), in compared to no risk association of decaffeinated coffee subgroup.

In other words, in low levels of SHBG nondiabetic pre- and postmenopausal in compared to healthy women, injection of caffeinated coffee increased levels of sexual hormones estrogen and testosterone

The above analysis was supported by the examination of the study during a median follow-up of 10 years of 359 postmenopausal women with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes matched with 359 control subjects by age, race, duration of follow-up, and time of blood draw, coffee and caffeine were associated to increased levels of fee and total testosterone among postmenopausal women.

In Summary,  the evidences indicated that coffee and caffeine have a extreme effect in exhibition of sex hormone estrogen and testosterone through increased lower level of SHBG in menopause women and prevented onset of type 2 diabetes without affecting the serum in healthy individuals.

Decaffeinated coffee decreased total and free testosterone through significantly increased levels of SHBG in overweight women who are at risk of  diseases associated to over expression of testosterone.

And caffeinated coffee displayed a significantly increased total testosterone and decreased total and free estradiol in men.

Altogether, coffee may be considered as a function food in mediated production of sexual hormone estrogen and  testosterone against diseases and syndromes caused by low levels of SSBG.

*Chaste Tree Berry May Cure Type I and II Diabetes, Revealed by MEDLINE Model Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Chaste tree berry may have a potential in improved pancreatic islet regeneration and hepatic insulin sensitivity for cure of Type I and II diabetes, some scientists suggested.

Diabetes are condition caused by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream in regulation of glucose.

The diseases are either caused by cells in pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol. In some cases, diabetes is also caused by allergic reaction of cells in the immune system.

The cause of type 1 diabetes in unknown, however it is the result of immune system mistakenly destroys the insulin-producing (islet, or islets of Langerhans) cells in the pancreas.

The mystery is why the immune system attached the specific insulin producing cells in the pancreas?

Recent study suggested that the immune system does not destroy the entire colony of the insulin producing cells in pancreas but reduced numbers of existence and function in production of insulin.

In other words, according to the the Exeter Clinical Research Facility in study of 74 volunteers. by measurement of how much natural insulin of tested subjects produced, as responded to meals, researchers found that 73 per cent of islet produced very low levels of insulin.

Chaste tree berry is a species of Vitex agnus-castus, genus Vitex, belongings to the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region.

The herbal medicine has been used  for thousands of year as anaphrodisiac herb and considered as Queen herb in treating menstrual problems and discomforts.

In the study to test two water soluble extracts (aqueous and ethanolic) obtained from the leaves of Vitex doniana, researchers at the Ahmadu Bello University, launched  an investigation to test whether these extracts exerting any protection of pancreas against normal and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

According to the results of experiment, application of extracts of chaste tree berry displayed significant effects in increased volume density of pancreatic islet as well as percentage of β-cells and size of islet in compared to non-treated diabetic control which showed complete degeneration of the islet cells.

Treated rats also showed a reduction (P<0.05) in the serum activities of marker enzymes, alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase in diabetes treated rats,

In healthy individuals, the ALT levels in the blood are low but the serum increase substantially in patients with diabetes caused by liver damage in decreased hepatic insulin sensitivity.

High levels of alanine aminotransferase is a marker of decreased hepatic insulin sensitivity and predictor of onset of type 2 diabetes.

In compared to healthy individuals, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), an enzyme, has been found to elevate in diabetes patients.

Furthermore, injection of extract of chaste tree berry also lowered the serum of total bilirubin and unconjugated bilirubin which were found to associate negatively to onset of diabetes.

These results of differentiation indicated that extracts of chaste tree berry exert a liver protective effect of treatment group against diabetics in induction of decreased hepatic insulin sensitivity and normalized the pancreas function in production of insulin through restoring the numbers of scattering islet cells.

Application of the extracts also induced regeneration and repairing of damaged islet cells in the pancreas.

Dr. Oche O, the lead researcher said, "plant extracts, (exhibited) regeneration of β-cells along with β-cells repairs, in compared to non-treated diabetic control which showed complete degeneration of the islet cells".

More important, in D-galactose induced pancreatic disorder in aging mouse model, treatment of Vitex agnus-castus (VAC) demonstrated potential pancreatic protective and hypoglycemic effects through improved the size of pancreatic islets decreased in aged and D-galactose groups.

In a total of 72 adult female Naval Medical Research Institute (NMRI) mice (weighing 30-35 g) divided into 6 groups of control, VAC hydroalcoholic extract, D-galactose, D-galactose + VAC hydroalcoholic extract, aged, aged + VAC hydroalcoholic extract through subcutaneous injection of D-galactose for 45 days and, VAC hydroalcoholic extract gavaged twice a day in the last 7 days. 24 h after the last drug and extract administrations, group treated with Chaste tree berry extract or combinations of the extract showed increased evels of insulin and decreased serum glucose and D-galactose level in compared to other treatment groups.

The study also found, "Despite the size of pancreatic islets decreased in aged and D-galactose groups, ........... VAC hydroalcoholic extract has hypoglycemic and pancreatic protective effects in natural aged and aging model mice".

In fact, there is also a report indicated that oral administration of once daily to diabetic rats for the period of 30 days of iridoid glucoside isolated from chaste tree berry may be effective as glibenclamide, a known hypoglycemic drug, at concentration of 50 mg/kg b.w.

Promissingly, iridoid glucoside reversed hyperglycemia-induced biochemical changes to near normal levels.

Collectively, Chaste tree berry may be used as functional food for curing Type I and Type II diabetes through its hypoglycemic and pancreatic and hepatic protective effects.

However, further data collection on studies performed with human consumption during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of its antidiabetes possibilities.
Intake of chaste tree berry extracts should be taken with extreme care, as overdoses may cause acute liver toxicity.

Green Roasted Coffee in Prevention and Treatment of Obesity Naturally, US National Library of Medicine Human and Model Studies Suggest

By Kyle J. Norton

Coffee, a popular and social beverage, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

Green roasted coffee intake may have a profound effect in reduced risk and treatment of obesity, some studies suggested.

In compared to regular roasted coffee, green coffee roasted beans contain substantial higher levels of chlorogenic acid.

The phytochemical is considered as weight loss plantbased supplement due to its effect in significantly lowered body weight, visceral fat mass and plasma leptin and insulin levels, according to the Sunchon National University.
A BMI between 25 to 29.9 is considered over weight, while a BMI of over 30 is an indication of obesity.

According to the statistic, 68% of American population are either overweight or obese.

How to calculate your BMI index
BMI= weight (kg)/ height (m2)

According to the joint study of the health benefits of coffee studies over last 10 years, led by the Huanggang Normal University, injection of green bean coffee daily and regularly expressed a significant improvement of risk and treatment of obesity through its function in decreased lipid accumulation in cells during fat metabolism.

In form of animal and humans studies, green coffee consumption induced changes in transcription factors in fat deposit, decreased body weight and visceral fat

Furthermore, coffee influenced gut microbiota in obese animals and humans studies also expressed the importance of green coffee as a functional and integrated food in reduced risk and treatment of obesity as microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract are found to be altered in obese individuals.

Some researchers suggested that these alternation are associated to long term unhealthy diet in induction of abnormal function of microbiota in regulated energy harvest from food components and energy storage in the host.

Dr. Kyle J. Wolf, the lead authors in the study of Gut Microbiota and Obesity said, “…… by the fact that adult germ-free (GF) (ie, bacteria-free) C57BL/6 mice had a 60% increase in body fat content when they were conventionalized (ie, colonized) with cecal microbiota from a healthy, normal C57BL/6 mouse”.

Other in the study of obesity induced in mice using a HFD for four weeks, fed only HFD or HFD with GCBE at 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg suggested that
* Mice treated with green coffee showed a significantly decreased body weight gain, liver weight and white adipose tissue weights and regulated adipose tissue lipolysis hormones, such as adiponectin and leptin.

*. Mice treated with green coffee intake also demonstrated a decreased mRNA expression levels of adipogenesis and adipocyte metabolism related genes in adipose tissues and the liver, and decreased the corresponding protein expression.

*. GCBE treated mice had a lower fat mass with decreased relative body weight and fat mass in compared to HFD alone fed mice.

Increased liver weight was associated to toxic liver and liver dysfunction.

White adipose tissue weights increased are associated to metabolic changes that occur in white adipose tissue (WAT) with obesity.

Obese patients are found to associate to increased alipose tissue lipolysis hormones.

Obesity is associated with adverse alterations in adipose tissue that predispose to adipocyte metabolic dysregulation.

Adipogenesis is the process of cell differentiation of pre-adipocytes to adipocytes. These processes of adipose hypertrophy and hyperplasia are associated with intracellular abnormalities of adipocyte function that leads to clinical manifestations and sequelae of obesity.

According to the information collected, Dr. Choi BK, the led author said, “GCBE has a potential anti-obesity effect with lowering body fat accumulation by regulating adipogenesis and lipid metabolism-related genes and proteins in WAT and liver”.

More importantly, in the study of male ddy mice fed a standard diet containing GCBE and its principal constituents, namely, caffeine and chlorogenic acid, for 14 day, researchers at the Oryza Oil & Fat Chemical Co,, Ltd, indicated that
* . GCBE with 0.5% and 1% reduced visceral fat content and body weight
*. Caffeine and chlorogenic acid showed a tendency to reduce visceral fat and body weight
*. Oral administration of GCBE (100 and 200 mg/kg. day) for 13 days showed a tendency to reduce hepatic TG in mice
*. Chlorogenic acid (60 mg/kg. day) reduced hepatic TG level

The findings displayed a strong effect of coffee and its phytochemicals in promoted weight loss and reduced accumulation by inhibition of fat absorption and activation of fat metabolism in the liver.
Green coffee intake daily and regularly may be considered as a functional and integrated food against risk and treatment of obesity.

How to Protect Your Stomach Against Onset of Ulcer Naturally, US National Library of Medicine Model Studies Suggest

Kyle J. Norton

Anise may have a potential and substantial effect in protected your stomach against development of ulcers, some scientists suggested.

Gastric/stomach  ulcers are open sores that develop on the inside lining of your stomach.

People with abnormal ratio of gut microbiota and long term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), are most susceptible to development of stomach ulcers.

In some cases, ulcers can also be caused by infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).

Long term untreated gastric ulcer can induce serious complications including bleeding, perforation, and obstruction of emptying of the passage of food.

According to experts, slow, long-term bleeding can lead to anemia and rapid and severe bleeding may result in blood vomiting.

Although is rare, gastric ulcer can also give rise to complications of the lining of the stomach splitting open, leading to infectious causes of peritonitis and sepsis.

Anise is a flowering plant ofthe species of Pimpinella anisum, genus Pimpinella, belongings to the family Apiaceae native to to Egypt and the Mediterranean region, used in traditional herbal medicine as fragrance in soaps, oils, and mouth fresheners and stomachic, anti-septic, anti-spasmodic, ....

Chemical comstituents
Anethole, D-pinene, I-phellandrene, Alpha-terpineol, Safrol, Methyl chavicol, Resin, Shikimic acid, etc.

In the evaluate the claim of Unani and Arabian traditional medicine practitioners on Anise's gastroprotective potential effect by using 80% ethanol, 0.2 mol/L NaOH, 25% NaCl and indomethacininduced gastric ulceration and secretion in rat model, researchers found that application of doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg body weight of Anise exert a significant protective activity against basal gastric acid secretion, acidity and completely inhibited the rumenal ulceration caused by necrotizing agents.

Furthermore, application of Anise also initiated production of depleted levels of gastric mucosal nonprotein sulfhydryls (NP-SH) and gastric wall mucus concentration.

Decreased expression of gastric mucosal nonprotein sulfhydryls (NP-SH) causes reduced levels of glutathione (GSH), an antioxidative substance with essential function in activated gastric mucosal defense mechanism.

Further analysis suggested that the anti gastric ulcers of Anise suspension was attributed to the herbal medicine antioxidants in enhanced production of hormone prostaglandins in inhibited levels of gastric secretion.

The hormone has been study intensively for protection and treatment of gastric ulcer by some scientists due to its effect in promoted rapid restitution of the superficial epithelium of the gastric mucosa and preservation of the deeper layers through the ability of the hormones in inhibited gastric secretion, stimulated bicarbonate secretion, and increased gastric blood volume.

Dr. Wilson DE, "Orally administered prostaglandin analogues have been helpful in some patients who failed to heal with standard ulcer treatment and in smokers, who usually do not heal as well as nonsmokers".

Some researchers suggested that the prostaglandin analogues may be an ideal solution of patient who are at high risk for gastric lesions due to chronic consumers of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs or alcohol.

Moreover, in the investigation of the effect of essential oil isolated from Croton zehntneri (EOCZ), a plant native to northeastern Brazil and anethole, a major bioactive component in Anise at doses of 30–300 mg/kg, researchers found that the composition demonstrates a strongly and linearly gastroprotective effect against ethanol- and indomethacin-induced gastric damage without changing to cold-restraint stress-induced ulcers in rats.

EOCZ and anethole (both at 30 and 300 mg/kg) significantly increased the mucus production by the gastric mucosa, indicated by measurement of Alcian blue binding assay,

Additionally, the composition also exhibited a significant effect on the volume of gastric juice, pH, or total acidity through its ability in enhanced production of gastric wall mucus.

The above of differentiation were supported by the study in testing the major bioactive compound anethole effect in the ethanol-induced ulcer model in mice conducted by the joint investagation lead by Coordenação do Curso de Farmácia,

According to the results, after taking into account of other con founders, application of anethole (300 mg/kg) increased the level of gastric mucus, while derivatives (300 mg/kg) showed a strong gastroprotective activity without affecting mucus secretion, through anethole antioxidant and anti inflammation activities.

By examining the antioxidant aspects in the experiment mice, researchers surprisingly found that anethole exhibits protective gastric effect through reduced oxidative stress in initiation of change from gastric mucosal nitric oxide (NO) to maintain gastric mucosal integrity.

The phytochemical anethole also ameliorated oxidative stress by stimulating production of the natural antioxidants in the host body, including glutathione (GSH), lipid peroxide (MDA, measured as malondialdehyde) glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase.

Importantly, anethole also modulated the levels of proinflammatory substances, such as plasma tumor necrosis factor-α with function involved in systemic inflammation in the acute phase reaction and interleukin-1β and IL-6 in regulated immune response in protection of the host against bacterial and viral in induction of infection.

Taken together, herbal Anise and its major chemical constituent anethole may be considered as functional food for protection of stomach against onset of ulcer

However, further data collection on larger example size of multi-clinical trials performed with human consumption during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of its anti stomach ulcer possibilities.

Finally, intake of Anise supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent acute liver toxicity.

How to Improve Glucose Metabolism in Prevention of Obesity, CVD and Diabetes, MEDLINE Model Studies Show

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in improved glucose metabolism, some scientists suggested.

Green tea is a precious drink processed numbers of health benefit,  known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world.

Glucose metabolism is an action of the body to convert glucose intake to energy for the needs of body tissue and organs through oxidized glucose to carbon dioxide and water.

Stages of abnormal glucose metabolism stretches from mild forms of glucose intolerance (pre diabetes), to diabetes and finally to pregravid forms of diabetes associated with end-organ disease.

Long term abnormal glucose metabolism is considered as a leading cause of diabetes and diabetic complications.

Some researchers even suggested that abnormalities of glucose metabolism can induce excess body weight and increase potentially modifiable risk factors for cardiac morbidity and mortality.

And, long term of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) is considered as a marker for the state of insulin resistance and prediction of vessel vascular complications, independent of a patient’s progression to diabetes.
Normal blood glucose level (tested while fasting) of healthy individuals are in the range of 3.9 and 5.5 mmol/L (70 to 100 mg/dL). ...and no more than 7.8 mmol/L (140 mg/dL) 2 hours after eating.

Green tea extract, in the evaluation of the carbohydrate metabolic key enzymes in control and streptozotocin high fat diet -induced diabetic rats in 30 days, demonstrated a significant activity in ameliorated over expression of plasma glucose, glycylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and increase in the levels of insulin and hemoglobin.

Expression of hemoglobin A1c is the average level of blood sugar over the past 2 to 3 months.

The normal hemoglobin molecule measured in a volume of blood is 13.8 to 17.2 grams per deciliter (g/dL) for men and 12.1 to 15.1 g/dL for women.

Further analysis also found that the application exerted a profound effect to restore, in some extends, the function of altered activities of the key enzymes of carbohydrate metabolism, such as hexokinase, pyruvate kinase, lactate dehydrogenase in both diabetic and control groups.

Abnormal (over 10−5M or 0.9 mg%) function of hexokinase in converted glucose into glucose-6-phosphate was associated moderate to severe hypoglycemia.

Pyruvate Kinase is an enzyme with function in catalyzed last step of glycolysis.

Deficiency of pyruvate kinase is associated to risk of metabolic disorder.

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH or LD) is an enzyme with function to catalyze the conversion of lactate to pyruvic acid and back.

In diabetic rats group, green tea extract strongly averted the abnormal expression of glycogen phosphorylase in liver to near normal levels.

Additionally, diabetic group after administration of green tea extract exhibited antihyperglycemic potential, observed through improved muscle and hepatic glycogen content.

Glycogen phosphorylase is an enzyme with function to release sugar from cells.

The findings showed that green tea extract has a directed implication in attenuated abnormal glucose metabolism in comparison to the effectiveness of conventional medicine metformin, a standard oral hypoglycemic drug.

Moreover, in the study to confirm the epidemiological studies' suggestion of green tea in improvement of glucose metabolism in diabetic mice, researchers found that injection of green tea in diabetic mice and streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice after 2-6 h expresses lower levels of glucose with no alternation of serum insulin level, at dose of 300 mg/kg in compared to normal and control mice.

In protein differentiation, green tea extract administration decreased the serum protein level with function in stimulated glucose production and minimized the increase of blood glucose levels through stimulating additional small amounts of insulin in the diabetes.

These results addressed another impact of green tea function in exerted direct influence in modulation of glucose metabolism in the tested subjects.

Interestingly, in the investigation of green tea effect in glucose uptake inhibitory activity in Caco-2 cells, scientists also indicated that green tea at temperature of 60 degree in Celsius significantly improves capacity of antioxidant in inhibition of glucose uptake through regulation of cell glucose metabolism.

Incredibly, temperature over 60 degree Celsius, green tea application did not increased or showed a up ward trend in the inhibitory potential, the Huazhong Agricultural University suggested.

Taken together, green tea with abundant bioactive phytochemicals may be considered as a function food in improved glucose metabolism in reduced risk of diabetes onset.

People in high risk diabetes such as prediabetics may want to add 1 or 2 cups of green tea into their daily diet for preventive measure.

How to Prevent Onset of Oral Cancer Naturally, PubMed Studies Show

Kyle J. Norton

Ckickpeas lectin may have a profound effect in ameliorated risk and treatment of oral cancer, some scientists suggested.

Garbanzo beans also known as chickpea is an edible legume of genus Cicer belongings to the family Fabaceae.

The bean is considered as one of the legume containing high amount of protein and minerals.

It is one of the earliest cultivated vegetables, native to Middle East.

Oral cancer is a medical condition characterized by cell growth disorderly and uncontrollably in the mouth region. At the later stage, the cancerous cell may travel a distance away from the original site to infect healthy tissues and organs.

Investigation of the process of chickpea lectin in reduced oral cell proliferation and tumor expansion
may involve expression of several aspects and mechanisms.

According to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, chickpeas inhibited proliferation of human oral carcinoma cells at the concentration of 37.5 μg/mL (IC50) and no toxic effect.

Further analysis, chickpeas anti cancer activity probably was a result of the pro apoptotic effect induced by phychemical agent lectin found abundantly in the legume.

Lectin are types of protein with important function of binding to cell membranes and influence cell-cell interaction.

On experiential oral cancer cell line, injection of lectin showed a significant effect in inhibition of the p38α MAP kinase activated under cellular stresses in response to inflammatory cytokines and involved function in the control of many other aspects of the physiology of the cell, such as control of cell cycle or cytoskeleton remodelling,.. for cell survival of the cancer in presence of substrate (ATP).

By blocking the physiological expression of cancer cell, lectin reduced the cell proliferation and subsequently, shrinking the cancer site.

Further more, plytochemical lectin isolated from chickpeas also demonstrated a binding affinity with p38α in regulated the production of certain inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin (IL)-1, IL-6 which may have certain effects in induction of cancer growth.
The kinase p38α MAPK (p38α) is a pro-apoptotic enzyme.played a pivotal role in many biological processes, including protected cell in responses to inflammation and injury,

Specifically, in the influence of the production of inflammatory cytokines by p38α, lectin regulated the potent pro-inflammatory cytokine produced by cells of the innate immune system IL-1β in induction of tumor growth and metastasis in cells under prolong period of inflammation.

According to general belief, many cancers have been found to arise from sites of infection, chronic irritation and inflammation.

In tumor necrosis factor alpha TNF-α, application of chemical lectin to oral cancer site suppressed the inflammatory expression of the protein in induced cell survival and proliferation and promoted the pro apoptotic function of TNF-α in program of cell death and cell cycle arrest.

Tumor necrosis factor alpha TNF-α, is cell signal protein with function in induced inflammation in the acute phrase of injure and in numbers of cellular process, including cell survival, proliferation, differentiation, and death.

Importantly, the binding of kinase p38α MAPK also activated the function of IL-6, in inhibited the factors in induced production of inflammatory cytokines which have a negative impact in oral cell oncogenesis and enhance the expression of boosting T cell trafficking to tumor sites to induce cytotoxic effect.

IL-6, an interleukin with duo functions in both pro-inflammatory cytokines and an anti-inflammatory myokines,

Taken together, chickpea lectin may be considered as  a functional food in prevention of oral cancer.

How to Prevent Onset of Stroke, Naturally and Effectively, MEDLINE Studies Suggest

Kyle J. Norton

Carrots may have a profound and positive effect in reduced risk of stroke, some scientists suggested.

Stroke is a medical condition caused by reduced blood flow to the brain resulting in cell death due to blocked artery (ischemic stroke) or the leaking or bursting of a blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke).

There is a general belief that stroke is an accumulation over along period of unhealthy diet with red meat and processed meats which are assassinated increased artery-clogging.

Some researchers suggested that increased intake of fruits and vegetables such as carrot accompanied with good fats such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel may have a substantial effect in reduced inflammation in the arteries and improved blood flow and decreased the chance of blood clots.

Sadly, stroke is one of the most common causes of death worldwide.

Carrot, a root vegetable with orange color is a sub spices of Daucus carota, belongings to the family Apiaceae, native to Asian and Europe.

In the review of literature published to understand more of the role of carotenoids as antioxidants in lowering stroke risk based on observational studies, researchers at the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences conduct a search with some important keywords, including (Carotenoids [MeSH] OR Carotenes [tiab] OR Carotene [tiab] OR "lycopene [Supplementary Concept]" [MeSH] OR lycopene [tiab] OR beta-Carotene [tiab]) AND (stroke [MeSH] OR stroke [tiab] OR "Cerebrovascular Accident" [tiab] OR "Cerebrovascular Apoplexy" [tiab] OR "Brain Vascular Accident" [tiab] OR "Cerebrovascular Stroke" [tiab]) AND ("oxidative stress" [MeSH] OR "oxidative stress"[tiab]).

The results of the searching of papers published between 2000 and 2017 suggested that

* High dietary intake of six main carotenoids (i.e., lycopene, <- and®-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, and astaxanthin) was associated with reduced risk of stroke due to their benefits in reduced over expression of reactive oxygen species.

* Beyond the antioxidant activities in prevented free radical in induction of chain reaction, other properties and mechanisms in ameliorated risk of stroke were not identified in studies satifified the guideline and criteria.

As these result, there is no surprise that dietary intake of six major carotenoids were promoted as stroke prevention and stroke mortality reduction.

Further in differentiation the benefits of lycopene an bioactive member incarotenoids, researchers found that intake of food containing high amount of lycopene demonstrates a substantially reduced risk of stroke in compared to non takers.

According to the assessment of pooled analysis of seven prospective studies, with 116,127 participants and 1,989 cases, frequent consumption of lycopene decreased stroke risk by 19.3%, after adjusting for confounding factors.

However, circulating lycopene, was associated with a statistically significant decrease in stroke risk in compared to not dietary lycopene, although both concentrations are inversely associated with stroke risk.

In gender and geographic analysis, researchers also stated that lycopene exerts a strong impact in prevent onset of stroke, particularly in European, or male gender.

Dr. the lead scientist said, " Duration of follow-up had no effect on the final results. There was no evidence of publication bias" and " Lycopene, especially circulating lycopene, is negatively associated with stroke risk".

Additionally, in the examine the hypothese whether low serum levels of lycopene are associated with increased risk of acute coronary events and stroke in middle-aged men previously free of CHD and stroke , researchers launched an investigation of 725 men aged 46-64 years examined in 1991-3 in the Kuopio Ischaemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study.

By December 1997, out of 725 patients, 41 men were found to have either a fatal or a non-fatal acute coronary event or a stroke.

According to the observation of a Cox' proportional hazard's model, after adjusting to examination years, age, systolic blood pressure and three nutritional factors (serum folate, beta-carotene and plasma vitamin C), researchers found that all 41 men are in the lowest quarter of serum lycopene levels.

These results once again suggested that daily intake of lycopene risk foods to increase the circulating lycopene plays an essential role in prevented risk of atherosclerotic vascular events in middle-aged men previously free of CHD and stroke.

Truly, patients with lower levels of serum lycopene were found to had a 3.3-fold (95 % CI 1.7, 6.4, risk of acute coronary events or stroke in compared with the others.

Taken together, carrot with high ammount of bioactive carotenoids, especially lycopene may be considered as a function food in reduced the prevalent risk of stroke.

People who are at the higher quarter of stroke risk may want to add a portion of carrot into their daily diet for preventive measure.
