#Greentea's #EGCG Inhibits the #Progression of #Osteoarthritis and Relieves #Osteoarthritis-Associated Pain, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Regular drinking of green tea may have a positive effect on suppressed conditions that cause osteoarthritis, some studies by respectable institutes suggested.

Osteoarthritis (OA), is a form of arthritis characterized by aging progression of wear and tear on a joint, affecting over 25 million people in the United States alone.

Osteoarthritis is the single most common cause of disability in older adults. The disease even with today's medical and technological inventions remains a serious health crisis in the US and a global epidemic, too.

The 2010 Global Burden of Disease Study reports, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), in assessments of worldwide 6.8% musculoskeletal disorders population, 10% to 15% of all adults aged over 60 have some degrees of OA, with a prevalence higher among women than men(4).

Continuously, the WHO wrote, "The prevalence of OA is increasing due to population aging and an increase in related factors such as obesity. According to the United Nations, by 2050 people aged over 60 will account for more than 20% of the world’s population" and "by 2050, 130 million people will suffer from OA worldwide, of whom 40 million will be severely disabled by the disease.6 Costs associated with OA include costs for adaptive aids and devices, medicines, surgery, and time off at work"(4)

Some researchers suggested that the prevalence of OA will be increased substantially, if the organization is taking into account of increased obesity risk of the Asian population, due to over 30 years of economic prosperity that influence many people who have made a lot of money to replace traditional Asian diet with American diet that is high on carbohydrate and saturated fat and trans fat.

Symptoms of osteoarthritis are associated with aching pain, stiffness, or difficulty moving the joint that may develop in one or more joints. The pain usually gets worse in a change of weather at night and in the advance of the diseases, the pain can occur even at rest.

If you experience all of the above symptoms, you may have osteoarthritis.

Gene inherited from a parent, extreme overweight, previous joint injury, overuse and patients with bone and joint disorders are the most common causes and risk factors of the disease.

Moreover, abnormal biomechanics, age-related sarcopenia and increased bone turnover may also contribute to the development of OA.

Green tea, a precious drink processes a number of health benefits known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world.

In a randomized open-label active-controlled clinical trial of 50 adults with osteoarthritis of the knee allocated to receive the green tea extract (in dosage form of tablet) plus diclofenac tablet as "intervention group"; or: diclofenac tablet alone as "control group" for a period of four weeks, researchers at the joint study lead by the Fasa University of Medical Sciences found that combination-treated group exerted a significant improvement of physical function in compared to control(1).

The green tea extract and diclofenac tablet treatment group also expressed progress in pain reduction during knee joint physical function in adults with osteoarthritis as in the control group(1).

Dr. Hashempur MH, at the end of the experiment period, said, " ...green tea extract might well be considered as an adjunctive treatment both for control of pain and for the betterment of knee joint physical function in adults with osteoarthritis".

Additionally, in the compared the effect of curcuminoids extract, hydrolyzed collagen, and green tea extract, in chondrocytes culture cells, researchers found that the combination of all components scores an enormous expression of reduced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines through various mechanisms, including ameliorated free radical elucidation(2).

In human chondrocytes (cells that secreted the matrix of cartilage) and in the absence of interleukin 1β, the combination with hydrolyzed collagen and green tea extract significantly inhibited matrix metalloproteinase-3 production which has a direct impact in denatured type I collagen(collagen fibers)(2).

Furthermore, in the presence of proinflammatory cytokine interleukin 1β, the combined application was significantly more efficient in inhibiting interleukin-1β stimulated matrix metalloproteinase-3 expression than any individual extract.

Interleukin 1β, a protein is an important mediator of the immune system's inflammatory response in the acute phase of infection through its function as a proinflammatory cytokine to protect our body against foreign organism invasion(2).

Most importantly, all other factors that have contributed to the onset of osteoarthritis such as chondrocytes, nitric oxide, interleukin-6 were also inhibited by the combined injection, according to the record reported by Dr. Comblain F, the lead scientist(2).

In support of the above differentiation, in the study in the investigation of a posttraumatic osteoarthritis (OA) mouse model tested with EGCG against the progression of OA and relieve OA-associated pain, researchers suggested that EGCG-treated mice promoted cartilage production against Safranin O, staining of the knee joint cartilage loss and cartilage erosion in compared to a control group with no treatment(3).

The cartilage of treated mice also displayed a significant reduction of the gene in regulated degeneration of connective tissue and pathways that involve promotional of tissue inflammation(3).

Additionally, the pain score of treated mice also exhibited a significant enhancement in the compared control group(3).

Taken together, there is no doubt that the green tea process is a therapeutic and integrated form of treatment by suppressing the conditions that cause symptoms of pain and physical disability, and the onset of osteoarthritis.

However, further data collection on large example-size multi-centers studies performed with human consumption of whole food during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of green tea anti-osteoarthritis possibilities.

The Efficacy of #GreenTea #Saponin in the Inhibition of the Proliferation and Invasiveness of T-lymphoma (EL4) cells in Vitro

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea may have a sustainable and profound effect in reduced risk and treatment of lymphoma, some scientists suggested.
Green tea, a precious drink processes a number of health benefits known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world.

Lymphoma is a medical condition characterized by cell growth disorderly and uncontrollably in the lymph nodes. There were 661,996 people living with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in the United States, in 2014.

According to the medical literature online, intake of green tea saponin and phenolic may have a strong influence on lymphoma oncogenesis through certain aspects.

In the EL4 cancer cells line, injection of green bioactive saponin stimulated the immunomodulatory activity in inhibited EL4 cells line through regulated cytokine expression induced by inflammation and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) signaling pathway involved in a variety of fundamental cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, motility, stress response, apoptosis, and survival.

Furthermore, injected saponin also reduced the expression of the EL4 cells line in tumor proliferation by interrupting the process of a sequence of mutated DNA transcript in mRNA expression in transmitting transcript by initiating the production of inflammatory cytokines to reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in making copies of the alternated gene, thus attenuating risk of tumor growth, tumor progression, and immuno-suppression, activities in host anti-tumor response.

Treatment of green tea saponin also was found to induce cytotoxicity to the EL4 cancer cell line without causing harm to healthy cells.

Additionally, the efficacy of tea saponin in inhibition of the proliferation and invasiveness of T-lymphoma (EL4) cells, may be also attributed to the effect of other inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alphaTNF-α in induced cancer cells death and NF-κB in the controlled transcription of DNA, cytokine production and cell survival through mediated the regulation of MAPK pathway in transduction (a process by which foreign DNA is introduced into a cell by a virus or viral vector) and extracellular signals to cellular responses in the induction of cell proliferation, differentiation, development, transformation, and apoptosis.

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha TNF-α, a pro-inflammatory cytokine plays an important role in the acute phase of inflammation with function in the regulation of biological processes including cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis.

Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) is a transcription factor with function in the regulated expression of genes involving many biological processes including innate and adaptive immunity, inflammation, and stress responses,

In NOD/SCID mice transplanted intraperitoneally with human non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) cell lines Namalwa, RAP1-EIO and HS-Sultan, injection of green tea displayed significant inhibition of
50% of Namalwa tumors and RAP1-EIO and HS-Sultan tumors through paralyzed tumor invasive activities.

Compared to the chemotherapy drug cyclophosphamide, green tea exhibited an anti-angiogenic effect in the induction of frequency of apoptotic endothelial and tumor cells and promoted tumor shrinking by blocking the formation of new blood vessels in providing nutrients and fluid for tumor expansion.

Based on the information findings, researchers opinionated, "Further trials in NHL to evaluate whether green tea, alone or in combination with chemotherapy, may delay or prevent disease progression".

#Herbal #Andrographis #Extract Alterates the Expression of Some Cellular Genes in Modulated Immunological Eesponse, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Andrographis processed significant effects in enhanced immune function, through modulation of immune responses, a renowned institute study suggested.

Immunomodulatory activity is the action that regulates immune response against forming of diseases, including stimulating the production of antibodies and inhibiting white blood cells in signaling inflammation,.....

The overactive immune system is a class of autoimmune diseases or chronic inflammatory diseases caused by the immune system attacking the body's tissue, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus,.... and multiple sclerosis.

The widespread chronic inflammatory diseases in modern society is a burden to humans because of life-long debilitating illness, increased mortality, and high costs for therapy and care.

Scientists do not know why the immune system attacks the host body tissue. Some researchers suggested that these may be a result of an immune malfunction in the directed function of white blood cells (WBCs) to differentiate between own body cells and foreign particles, causing the destruction of normal and healthy body cells.

Underactive or weakened immune system caused by primary immune deficiency, or acquired immune deficiency.may not protect the body against foreign organisms in initiated infection.

Sometimes, a temporarily weakened immune system may also be caused by the intake of certain conventional medicine, such as chemotherapy or drugs that treat cancer.

Primary immune deficiency is an underactive immune system caused by a genetic mutation inherited from a parent.

Acquired immune deficiency is a weakened immune system caused by diseases that destroy white blood cells.

Andrographis paniculata, also known as Andrographis is a herbaceous plant, genus Andrographis, belongings to the family Acanthaceae, native to India and Sri Lanka,

The herb has been used in traditional Siddha and Ayurvedic in treating the common cold, flu, upper respiratory infections, infectious diseases, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, pneumonia,

According to the Prin. K. M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy, HN-02, an extract containing a mixture of andrographolides plus 14-deoxy andrographolide and 14-deoxy-11,12-didehydroandrographolide together [12 +/- 3 %]) in a pure powder form at 1.0, 1.5, and 2.5 mg/kg on different in vivo and in vitro experimental models, demonstrated the ability in enhanced immune function by modulation of immune responses altered during antigen interaction, and to reverse the immunosuppression induced by cyclophosphamide (CYP).

Cyclophosphamide is an anti-cancer chemotherapy drug.

Dr. Naik SR, the lead author said, " HN-02 treatment significant increase in total WBC count" and "elevated the depressed hemagglutination antibody (HA) titer and increased the number of plaque-forming cells (PFCs) in the spleen cells of mice".

Depressed hemagglutination antibodies (HA) are associated with the risk of infection as the immune system no longer can prevent the attachment of the virus to red blood cells.

Plaque-forming cells (PFCs) are IgM-producing cells and the spleen is the lymphoid organ.

In the evaluation of the immunomodulatory activity of herbal Andrographis researchers at the Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, indicated that Andrographis paniculata exhibited the effect through genes expression involved in immune cell activation and migration and various inflammatory responses, including wound healing, angiogenesis, and blood pressure modulation(2).

Compared to other extracts used in the experiment, Andrographis extract led to the alteration of expression of some cellular genes that have a strong effect in modulated immunological response(2).

Additionally, in the concerns of the presence of lipopolysaccharide in medicinal preparation of the extracts, researchers said, "the presence of LPS was not due to contamination of the extract, but instead was a common constituent of the immune-stimulatory extracts and as such, may play a role in immune regulatory activity"(2)
Truly, herbal extracts historically reported and used to stimulate the immune response including Andrographis expressed highly elevated levels of endotoxin compared to lower levels of endotoxin presented in herbal extracts historically used to repress immune activity, such as Urtica dioica(2).

Lipopolysaccharide, a component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, is a potent stimulator of the innate immune system used frequently in research and drug development.

Additionally, dichloromethane fraction of the methanolic extract of Andrographis paniculata also expressed an impressive inhibition against testing human cancer and immune cells.

At low concentrations, the dichloromethane extract enhanced immune function in attenuated the proliferation of HT-29 (colon cancer) cells and human peripheral blood lymphocytes (HPBLs)(3).

Furthermore, the study also found, andrographolide, another major compound in Andrographis paniculata exhibited the immune ability to suppress irregular cell growth and cancer activity on diverse cancer cells in different types of human cancers.

Taking all together, there is no doubt, that Andrographis consisted of a strong immunomodulatory (including under or over the active immune system) activity in regulated immune responses against a procession of irregular cell growth and overreaction of foreign harmful substances, but intake of a large amount should be taken with care.

Additional large sample sizes and multicenter clinical trials with human consumption during the course of the immune disease are necessary to reconfirm Andrographis immunomodulatory possibility.

#Greentea's #EGCG Expresses a Significant Effect on RXRα Protein and Methylation Function in Ameliorated Risk of #ColonCancer

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea with abundant polyphenols, may have a sustainable effect in reduced progression and treatment of colon cancer, some scientists suggested
Colon cancer is a medical condition caused by cell growth disorderly and uncontrollably in the colon tissues. At the later stage, the cancerous cell may travel a distance away to infect other healthy organs and tissues.

Green tea, a precious drink processes a number of health benefits known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long-term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, inducing "excessive yin syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weakened immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.

In the review of medical literature published online, green tea efficacy in reduced risk and treatment of colon cancer may be associated with the bioactive polyphenol EGCG expression in promoted and
decreased certain interactions in the cell profiles through various mechanisms.

According to the study by the University College of Medicine, Seoul, the application of EGCG on HT-29 colon cancer cells showed a significant effect in the inhibition of cell cycle progression of protein in COX-2 expression. through activation of AMPK activity in promoted metabolic tumor suppressor by regulating energy levels, enforcing metabolic checkpoints, and inhibiting cell growth.

Cyclooxygenase(COX)-2, is an enzyme with the function in speeding up the production of hormone prostaglandins in regulated cell proliferation and cell apoptosis.

AMPK(5' AMP-activated protein kinase) plays a role in cellular energy homeostasis, activation of AMPK may result in tumor growth inhibition, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis of cancer cells in some tumor types/contexts.

Additionally, in inhibition of COX-2 expression green tea EGCG reduced prostaglandin E(2) secretion, thus reducing the risk of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in modulated angiogenesis, including the process of new blood vessel formation, promoted proliferation, migration, and formation of endothelial cells, lining the interior surface of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels.

The study also emphasized that inhibiting AMPK by an AMPK inhibitor may interrupt the function of the bioactive compound in initiating such changes.

Continuously, the activation of the enzyme AMPK also had a strong implication on VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and glucose transporter in facilitating the transport of glucose over a plasma membrane and Glut-1 in facilitating the transport of glucose across the plasma membranes of mammalian cells in EGCG-treated cancer cells.

Further analysis and application of EGCG activated AMPK enzyme also modulated the production of ROS without causing ROS expression in initiated tumor progression and damage to cellular structures, such as the lipid membrane, protein and nucleic acid but inducing cancer cells DNA mutations, and compromised genome integrity, subsequently in cancer cells senescence and death.

In another aspect of the study of colon cancer in animal models, diminished levels of retinoid X receptor-alpha (RXRα) in regulated cancer cell growth and modulated suppress tumorigenesis may have a profound effect on cell proliferation.

Application of green tea bioactive EGCG expressed a significant effect in restoring RXRα protein and expression levels caused by methylation function in alternating the activity of a DNA segment without changing the sequence, thus reducing the risk of cancer expansion.

Additional differentiation also suggested that EGCG-induced methylation changes in several other colon cancer-related genes restore the levels of RXRα without causing a decrease in global methylation in maintaining the epigenetic state of individual genes.

Change of globe methylation expression is found to associate with the occurrence of cancer.

Retinoid X receptor-alpha (RXRα) is a nuclear receptor with function in regulated cancer proliferation and modulated suppression of tumorigenesis.

Based the results finding, EGCG with a novel therapeutic effect on common and on chemo-resistant colon cancer cells may be considered as a secondary application used in combination with chemotherapeutic agents, 5-FU for the treatment of any type of colon cancer

#Capsaicinoids Found in #CayennePepper Contribute to Weight Management through Reductions in Energy Intake, Researchers Say

Kyle J. Norton

The prevalence of obesity is widespread in the Western world. In the US, approximately 68% of the population is either overweight or obese.

The findings of weight loss from the botanic plant with little or no side effects have gone under extensive research.

Cayenne, the kitchen spice may have a profound effect on enhanced weight loss, some researchers suggested.

Obesity is a medical condition of excess body fat accumulated over time, while overweight is a condition of excess body weight relative to height.

According to the Body Mass Index(BMI), a BMI between 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight, while a BMI of over 30 is an indication of obesity.

Weight loss is an intentional reduction of the total body mass through the context of diet, exercise, and medicine such as FDA-approved prescription medications, orlistat (Xenical, Alli), lorcaserin (Belviq), phentermine-topiramate (Qsymia), naltrexone-bupropion (Contrave), and liraglutide (Saxenda).

Although approved medicine may be effective if the person who takes the drug also follows a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet, however, it may induce side effects of weakness, dark urine, clay-colored stools, itching, loss of appetite, or jaundice (liver toxicity).

In severe cases, intake of the drug may cause severe lower back pain, blood in your urine, drowsiness, confusion, mood changes, increased thirst; swelling,...... and shortness of breath.

If you are taking the weight-to-lose approved pills, please make sure that you discuss the side effect with your doctor in advance.

Cayenne is also known as Cayenne Pepper, a red, hot chili pepper, belongings to Capsicum annuum, the family Solanaceae, native to sub-tropical and tropical regions.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine to increase metabolism, enhance the circulatory system and stomach and intestinal tract, adjust blood pressure, lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, treat frostbite, muscles, arthritis, rheumatism, low back pain, strains, sprains, bruises, and neuralgia, etc.

The Phyto Ingredients
The chemical constituents of Cayenne include capsaicin, capsaicin oil, solanine, xanthenes, oleic acid,..... and palmitic acid.

Capsaicinoids are major bioactive chemical compounds found in cayenne, in the study to review its effectiveness in weight management, the Manchester Metropolitan University conducted a selection of 20 trials that satisfied the criteria, and guidelines were selected involving 563 participants.

Most trials were generally of high quality with a low risk of bias, however, trial duration, dosage, and size varied.

Observation and differentiation of these studies suggested that the application of capsaicinoids induces weight loss and weight management by(1)
* Increased energy expenditure by approximately 50 kcal/day, these results would produce clinically significant levels of weight loss in 1-2 years.

* Reduced abdominal adipose tissue levels and reduced appetite and energy intake, and

* Increased lipid oxidation to induce weight loss. Decrements in fatty acid oxidation were associated with obesity.

Dr. Whiting S, the lead scientist in the final report of the study said, "The mechanism of action is not presently fully understood, although it is well accepted much of the effects are caused by stimulation of the TRPV1 receptor (which plays an essential role to induce weight loss through direct impact on enhancing intracellular Ca2+ levels in initiated fat lipid oxidation)".

Further analysis of capsaicinoids weight loss in search of related studies' medical data found 74 clinical trials identified, with only 10 selected, 8 of which provided results suitable to be combined in analysis (191 participants) and 19 effect sizes extracted and analyzed using MIX meta-analysis software conducted by the study led by the School of Healthcare Science, suggested that capsaicinoid ingestion prior to a meal reduced ad libitum energy intake by 309.9kJ (74.0kcal) during the meal(2).

The study also found that a minimum dose of 2mg of capsaicinoids is needed to contribute to weight management through reductions in energy intake(2).

These results were attributed to capsaicinoids efficacy in altered carbohydrate-rich foods that have a significant impact on reduced fat oxidation in the induction of weight gain(2)

Dr. said, "Daily consumption of capsaicinoids may contribute to weight management through reductions in energy intake. Subsequently, there may be potential for capsaicinoids to be used as long-term, natural weight-loss aids".

Intake of herbal Cayenne or its supplements should only be prescribed by herbalists as acute ingestion of a large number of chili peppers (the rich source of capsaicin) was found to induce produced
hypertension in some patients(3).

#Greentea's EGCG Attenuates the Risk of #GastricCancer by Inhibiting the Proliferation of Cells and Tumor Tissues, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea with plenty of bioactive phytochemicals may have a direct impact on reduced risk and treatment of gastric cancer, some researchers suggested.

Gastric cancer is a medical condition characterized by uncontrollable growth of cells in the gastric tissues. At the late stage, the cancerous cells may infect other organs and tissue a distance away from the original site

According to medical literature published online, in vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) over expression in the formation of new blood vessels to provide nutrients and fluids for the survival of gastric cancer, application of green tea (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) restricted the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) induced VEGF in stimulated signal protein in transmitted alternated DNA transcript and activated suppression of anti-cell apoptosis transcription 3 (Stat3).

Oral administration of green tea extract decreased levels of IL-6, and VEGF overexpression in doses depending manner.

Compared to healthy individuals, IL-6, VEGF expression was found to increase more than 2.4-fold in patients with gastric cancer.

In fact, the chemical compound exhibited anti-cancer progressive activity by blocking the process of a complex sequence of VEGF expression in transferring faulty DNA transcription to signal the proliferation of cancer cells through mRNA in protein synthesis.

In other words, green tea inhibited the progression of cancer development induced by overexpression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was total depended on EGCG's DNA binding activity and inhibition of Stat proteins in differentiated cytoplasm into the nucleus, the important step in the initiation of cancer progression.

Further analysis, according to experiments in vitro and in vitro, EGCG also expressed a significant effect in the reduced IL-6 properties in stimulated vascular endothelial cells in promoted cancer cell proliferation and formation.

After taking into account other confounders, Dr. Zhu BH, the lead author said, "EGCG inhibits IL-6-induced VEGF expression and angiogenesis via suppressing Stat3 activity in gastric cancer, which has provided a novel mechanistic insight into the anti-angiogenic activity of EGCG".

Additionally, researchers in further illustration of the effect of EGCG (0, 5, 10, 25, or 50 μmol/L), in human gastric cancer cells (AGS) caused by IL-6 (50 μg/L) suggested that interleukin 6 (IL-6) overexpression not only significantly increased VEGF expression in AGS gastric cancer cells, but also increased function of mRNA expression by more than 2.4 in the process to initiated tumor development, in dose depending manner.

Truly, treatment of bioactive EGCG with doses of 0, 5, 10, 25, or 50 μmol/L demonstrated therapeutic activities in reducing the released protein of VEGF to stimulate mRNA expression of the alternated transcript.

Compared to AG490, a Stat3 pathway inhibitor used for the treatment of gastric cancer, green tea EGCG blocked the sequence of transcript-transferred steps in the induced expression of pSTAT3 in the proliferation of cells and tumor tissues without causing a change in the STAT3 gene.

In 5-FU resistance of GC SGC7901/FU and MGC803/FU, gastric cancer cell lines, injection of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) displayed a significantly suppressed proliferation and tumor growth through reversed the 5-FU resistance of GC cells thorough inhibited the P-glycoprotein 1 (MDR1) and P-glycoprotein (P-gp) also also known as multidrug resistance proteins in transmitted transcript in obstructing cell internalization of chemotherapeutic agents and developing transporter-mediated resistance by cancer cells during anti-tumor treatments.

Taking together, green tea bioactive (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) may be considered a potential agent in reducing the risk of angiogenesis and a secondary and adjunct treatment combined with standard chemotherapy in the treatment of gastric cancers.

#Greentea 8 oz (237 ml) or More Cups/day Is Associated with a Reduced Risk of #KidneyCancer, Researchers Say

Green tea may have a substantial and sustainable effect in reduced risk and treatment of renal cancer, some scientists suggested.

Kidney cancer is a medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth in the issues of the kidney. At the later stage, the cancerous cell may travel a distance away to invade other healthy tissues and organs.

According to statistics, kidney cancer is uncommon in people younger than age 45 and among the 10 most common cancers in both genders.

Investigation of green tea's effect on the risk of renal cancer was found to associate with different implications involving a number of mechanisms, mainly, in green tea's bioactive components.

According to the evaluated 250 newly diagnosed, histologically confirmed Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) cases and 299 sex-, age-matched healthy controls provided complete information by the face-to-face interview in Shanghai between 2007 and 2009, application of green tea at the dose of ≥500 ml/d demonstrated a significant inverse association to risk of CCRCC.

Indeed, green tea consumption of lower than the said volume such as 8 oz (237 ml) or more cups/day was also associated to decrease renal cell cancer risk, compared to non-drinkers, according to the report of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Further analysis also found that interactions with the environmental exposures association with polymorphisms of the xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes in induced CCRCC risk, also inhibited by green tea extract through increasing serum and liver antioxidant capacity and strengthening the stability of microsomal and lysosomal membranes of healthy cells in compared to control.

In a free radical aspect, the examined Wistar rats induced renal cancer pre-treated with N-ethyl-N-hydroxyethylnitrosamine (EHEN) by oral injection of drinking water for 2 weeks, also found that administration of green tea extract catechin ( 0.1% polyphenon-60) over 30 weeks of period of treatment exhibits a significant effect in decreasing the incidence of renal cell tumors greater than 3 mm in diameter but not tumors that are less than 3 mm in diameter, through overexpression of antioxidant in suppression of reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by N-ethyl-N-hydroxyethylnitrosamine (EHEN) pre-treatment.

Importantly, in alternated gene expression in increased prevalence of cancer in human subjects,
application of green tea polyphenol, catechins have been reported to reverse change of DNA methylation in contributing to the tumor repressive gene of RGS2 (regulator of G-protein signaling 2) in modulated expression of cancers and increased the regulation of conversion of DNA to RNA (transcription) of these genes in ameliorated risk of renal and other cancer(s).

Furthermore, the application of the combination of green tea extract bioactive catechins and epigallocatechin gallate also showed to modulate DNA methylation by attenuating the effect of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) to ensure the fidelity of replication of inherited epigenetic patterns.

Aberrant DNA methylation patterns are associated with increased prevalence of renal and other tumor(s).

Taken together, Green Tea and its polyphenols bioactive compound catechins and epigallocatechin gallate may have a potential and therapeutic effect in reduced risk and treatment of renal cancer through antioxidants and anti-gene alternative activities.
