#Phytochemical #AnacardicAcid Processes Anti Bacterial Effects by Inhibiting the Substances Associated with Microbial Survival in Cell-Cell Communication, Researchers Say

Kyle J. Norton

Scientists may have found a bioactive compound for the replacement of antibiotics with no side effects, some studies suggested.
Infection is a human disease characterized by the invasion of an organism that multiplied in a specific tissue or organ.

In bodily injury due to physical impact, the white blood cells of the immune first line of defense stimulate the production of proteins associated with the coagulation to cover the wound against the entrance of the microorganisms and inflammatory cytokines to kill off the infectious pathogens before they can enter the body and cause damage.

Most microorganisms were killed in the acute phase of the infection.

The infection is progressing through 5 stages, including
1. The incubation stage is a stage that microorganisms have successfully entered the host and started a period of multiplication. At this period patients do not experience any symptoms.
2. The prodromal stage, followed after the incubation period, after gaining strength in numbers and continued multiplication, the presence of the invasive pathogens is noticed by the immune system, leading to an immune system response. At this period, patients may experience symptoms of fever, pain, and swelling.

3. The stage of illness is a stage the disease is formed with signs and symptoms of the disease that are most obvious and severe.

4. The stage of decline, the stage that saw the immune system has won the battle. In this stage, the number of pathogens and the signs and symptoms of illness begin to decline.
5. The stage of convalescence is a stage of recovery.

Some scientists in the study of the immune evolution suggested that the immune system is designed to kill off invasive pathogens in 3-8 weeks, otherwise, it will adapt to the change, leading to diseases associated with chronic infection.

Anacardic acids are phenolic lipids, phytochemicals of the organic acid found abundantly in cashews, mangoes, etc.

The immune system is the set of cells and their activity against antigens or infectious agents that comprises the body's defense system against diseases. The immune system does a great job of keeping people healthy and preventing infections. Besides foods and nutritional supplements, herbs also play an important role in helping the immune system defend against viruses and bacteria attacks.

With an aim to find a natural antibiotic for the replacement of conventional medicine for the prevention and treatment of microbial infection, researchers examined the anacardic acid mixture antibacterial quorum sensing (QS), which is a process of bacterial cell-cell communication that controls a large number of systems affecting pathogenicity.

An anacardic acid mixture (AAM) used in the experiment was produced by the A. astringent hexane extract (HE) in the bacterial strain Chromobacterium violaceum.

By comparing the 2 extracts, researchers found that
* HE induced a 91.6% of inhibition of the violecin production at 55 μg/mL concentration, whereas AAM showed 94% of inhibition at 166 μg/mL.

* Interestingly, both extracts were found to inhibit violacein production by affecting the viability of the bacterium.* Furthermore, AAM inhibited the substance which stimulates redox cycling in bacteria (pyocyanin 86% at 200 μg/mL) and glycolipid biosurfactants of bacterial structure (rhamnolipid, 91% at 500 μg/mL) production in a dose/response form and decreases the elastase (75% at 500 μg/mL) activity in P. aeruginosa without affecting its development.

Where violecin is a naturally-occurring bis-indole pigment with antibiotic properties produced by the bacteria.

These results indicated that Anacardic acid disrupts the quorum sensing (QS) of bacteria by inhibiting the substances which play a critical role in microbial survival in cell-cell communication.

Dr.Castillo-Juárez I, the lead scientist said, " anacardic acids mixture isolated from A. astringent demonstrated anti-QS, it could be further exploited for novel molecules to treat the emerging infections of antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens".

Additionally, in the evaluated new anacardic acid, 6-[16'Z-nonadecenyl]-salicylic acid (1), along with seven known compounds isolated from the bark of Amphipterygium astringent using a bioassay-guided fractionation method, researchers showed that compounds 1-4 exhibited antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutants and Porphyromonas gingivalis with minimum inhibitory concentrations ranging from 7 to 104 µg mL and from 12 to 126 µg mL.

Where compounds 1-4 are 6-[16'Z-nonadecenyl]-salicylic acid (1), 6-[8'Z-pentadecenyl] salicylic acid (15:1 anacardic acid) (2), 6-nonadecenyl salicylic acid (anacardic acid 19:0), (3), 6-pentadecyl salicylic acid (anacardic acid 15:0) (4).

Taken together, anacardic acid and its bioactive derivatives may be considered antibiotics alternative for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infection with no side effects

#Arctiin Found in #HerbalBurdock Processes A Strong Anti-#Diabetes and Anti-#DiabeticComplication Activities, Scientists Find

Kyle J. Norton

Scientists may have found a herbal medicine for the prevention and treatment of diabetes with no side effects, according to studies.

Diabetes is a medical and chronic condition caused by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream to regulate glucose.

The disease is either caused by cells in the pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol.

Some researchers suggested that high blood cholesterol is one major risk factor not only contributed to the risk of obesity but also facilitates the onset of diabetes.

How to calculate your blood cholesterol, If the ratio of your blood cholesterol is higher than 4, you have high blood cholesterol.

The normal ratio of blood cholesterol is 4 (low-density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol)/ 1 ( high-density lipoprotein or good cholesterol). Any number which is higher than 4 is considered high blood cholesterol.

How is high blood cholesterol associated with diabetes
* Most patients with diabetes also have a syndrome of high blood cholesterol.

* According to Dr. Michael Greger M.D. long-term intake of a high-fat diet is associated with diabetes. According to the study of young, healthy people and split them up into two groups, high fat intake within 2 days demonstrated, a significant rise of glucose intolerance. During the course of the study, the high-fat diet group ended up with twice the blood sugar compared to the carbohydrate-rich diet group.

* Also the spike of blood sugar in the high-fat diet group may also increase the onset of insulin resistance due to insulin no longer performing its function in activating the function of the insulin receptors site which is now clogged up by cholesterol to stimulate the enzymes associated with glucose transport.

In other words, the pancreas beta cells will continue to produce insulin but can not lower the blood glucose due to the disruption of glucose metabolism, leading to insulin resistance, the major cause of diabetes.

Burdock is a plant in the group of biennial thistles, genus Arctium, belonging to the family Asteraceae, native to the Euro. Herbal medicine has been using thousands of years in China and other traditional herbal medicine as a diuretic, diaphoretic, and blood-purifying agent to treat wounds and infections stomach ulcers, and other digestive problems.

With an aim to find a natural medicine for the treatment of diabetes and reduced diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common and severe complications of diabetes mellitus, researchers at the Third Military Medical University examined Arctiin, a bioactive compound isolated from the dry seeds of Arctium lappa L.(Burdock), antidiabetic activity.

Male Sprague-Dawley rats induced diabetes are randomly divided into five groups (n = 20 per group) and treated with intragastric doses of 30, 90, or 270 mg/kg/d wt of arctiin, 100 mg/kg/d wt of calcium dobesilate, or 0.5 % CMC-Na and 20 nondiabetic sham-treated rats were treated with 0.5 % CMC-Na.

In the beginning, there was no significantly different occurrence of diabetic retinopathy among the groups.

However, at the week 16, the glycosylated hemoglobin (HBA1c) level was significantly decreased in all of the arctiin-treated groups when compared with the control group, and the serum glucose level was also decreased in the rats treated with the highest dose of arctiin

The normal levels of HbA1c of 6.5% and HbA1c are used as an objective measure of glycaemic control.

The highest dose of the arctiin group showed a decrease in the serum glucose level which was elevated by the induction of diabetes.

The Arctiin treatment group displayed reduced inflammation in the expression of retinal edema, detachment of the retina, and levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines observed by the histological and immunochemical examinations.

Furthermore, arctiin also increased the viability of retinal microvascular endothelial cells which was reduced in diabetic rats, in vitro.

Dr. Lu LC, the lead scientist wrote, "These findings demonstrate that arctiin decreases the severity of diabetic complications, demonstrating the importance of this compound as an inhibitor of diabetic retinopathy".

Additionally, in the review of the anti-diabetes effects of the active compounds present in the different botanical parts of burdock, researchers examined the active ingredients in the roots and seeds.

The results of the chemical analysis suggested that the compounds isolated from roots showed a strong effect in the inhibition of diabetes through their antioxidant activity.

In the seeds, some active compounds possess anti-inflammatory effects similar to that of arctiin treatment rats group.

These results suggested that herbal burdock exerted a strong anti-diabetes and diabetic complication through its glycaemic control and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Taken altogether, herbal Burdock processed high numbers of the bioactive compound may be considered a functional herb for the prevention and combined with the primary medicine for the treatment of diabetes and diabetic complication.

#CruciferousVegetables Regulate the Expression of Antioxidant Against #Diseases Associated with #OxidativeDamage Triggered by Injury and Inflammation, Scientists Reveal

Kyle J. Norton

Cruciferous vegetables, rich of phytochemicals may be considered as the functional food for prevention of cancers caused by chemical carcinogens some studies suggested.

Chemical carcinogens, types of chemical toxins, can induce cellular and chromosomes change and DNA damage, causing mutation of healthy cells, the initial stage of cancer development.

According to the National Toxicology Program 14th Report on Carcinogens “Known to be human carcinogens” provided by the American Cancer Society, there are many different types of chemical carcinogens, including
* Lifestyle factors (nutrition, tobacco use, physical activity, etc.)

* Naturally occurring exposures (ultraviolet light, radon gas, infectious agents, etc.)

* Medical treatments (radiation and medicines including chemotherapy, hormone drugs, drugs that suppress the immune system, etc.)

* Workplace Exposures

* Household exposures

* Pollution
Cancers are class of medical diseases characterized by cell multiply disorderly and uncontrollably.

At the advanced stage, most cancers can travel a distance away from the site of origin to infect other healthy cells and tissue via lymph and blood.

According to the Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, sulforaphane (SFN), the isothiocyanate (ITC) group of organosulfur compounds found in cruciferous vegetable-expressed chemopreventive properties involved detoxification processes of chemical carcinogens.

Dr. de Figueiredo SM, the lead author said, " In a dose-dependent manner, ITC inhibits the viability of human cancer cells, modifies epigenetic events that occur in cancer cells and present anti-inflammatory effect acting during the initial uncontrolled cell proliferation."

The chemoprotective activity of the cruciferous vegetable was attributed to significant expression of the antioxidants in cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of cancer cells.

Furthermore, its phytochemicals also can act as the post-initiation stages of carcinogenesis, a 'suppressing' agent involving the ability to modulate the Nrf2 which is a protein with unique function of regulating expression of antioxidant proteins that protects against oxidative damage triggered by injury and inflammation.

In fact, besides using as a chemopreventive agent against chemical carcinogenesis, sulforaphane (SFN), the major chemical constituent of cruciferous vegetables also inhibited the drug-metabolizing enzymes that cause activation/neutralization of carcinogenic metabolites and protected normal healthy cells from environmental toxin inducing of cancers.

Moreover, the phytochemical exhibited the molecular mechanisms responsible for the overall chemopreventive effects on selective cytotoxicity, the unique function of inhibiting oxidate stress, and free radicals produced by lipid peroxidation in cells.

Additionally, in tobacco smoke carcinogens-induced chemical tumors, cruciferous vegetable consumption has been shown to be inversely associated with the development of cancer.

In animal experiments. the chemopreventive effects of isothiocyanates, another compound found cruciferous vegetable, inhibited the metabolic activation of carcinogens by cytochrome P450s, enzymes with the function of metabolized potentially toxic compounds.

Taking together, the intake of cruciferous vegetables has a potential health benefit against environmental toxins that initiates the early onset of cancers. But due to the small size of the sample, further studies are necessary to address the veggies anti cancers possibility.

#WhiteButtonMushroom #WBM Shows a Proective Effect Against #HepaticSteatosis and #NAFLD, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Hepatic steatosis is a medical condition characterized by fat accumulation accompanied by a progressive inflammation of the liver.
The disease is also known as fatty liver disease.

Depending on the risk factors that cause fatty liver,
* Obesity, high blood cholesterol including high triglycerides, diabetes, and certain medications, including methotrexate (Trexall), tamoxifen (Nolvadex), amiodorone (Pacerone), and valproic acid (Depakote) are associated nonalcoholic fatty disease. And

* Alcohol fatty liver disease is associated with long-term excessive alcohol drinking.

Prolonged untreated hepatic steatosis is also a leading cause of cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Hepatic steatosis symptoms may include poor appetite, weight loss, abdominal pain, physical weakness fatigue. However, patients in the severe case may experience symptoms of jaundice of the skin and eyes confusion,.... and abnormal bleeding if hepatic steatosis develops to its advanced stage.

Mushroom is a standard name for white button mushroom, the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus produced above ground on soil or on its food source.

The edible mushroom is a genus A. Muscaria and belongings to the family Amanitaceae and is cultivated in many cultures all over the world for food and health benefits.

Chemical constituents of button mushroom include astraodorol, psilocybin, lectin, adustin, ribonuclease, nicotine, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-methylbenzoic acid, orsellinic acid, melleolide, ergosterol, genistein, daidzein, daucosterol, genistin, uracil and D-mannitol(a).

Cholesterol is needed for our body to build cell walls, make hormones and vitamin D, and create bile salts that help you digest fat.

However, too much of it can be dangerous because cholesterol cannot dissolve in your blood. The special particle called lipoprotein moves this waxy, soft substance from place to place.

In ovariectomized (OVX) mice (a model of postmenopausal women) induced hepatic steatosis by a high-fat diet supplemented with WBM powder, researchers found that(1)

* Dietary WBM intake in tested mice significantly lowers liver weight and hepatic injury markers.

* Treated mice also show less fat accumulation in the livers, according to liver tissue analysis.

* More importantly, treatment mice exert a significant improvement in glucose clearance ability.

Glucose clearance ability is correlated with measures of insulin sensitivity and acute insulin response to glucose, compared to a normal range of hepatic extraction of 25.8% [32.7%], and extrahepatic insulin clearance of 20.7 mL/kg/min [11.7 mL/kg/min])(2).

Further analysis of microarray analysis also revealed that genes related to the fatty acid biosynthesis pathway, including the genes for fatty acid synthetase (Fas) and fatty acid elongase 6 (Elovl6), the enzymes which are responsible for lipogenesis (the metabolic formation of fat)(1) found to decrease in the liver of mushroom-fed mice.

Moreover, in a vitro mechanistic studies using the HepG2 cell line, scientists explained, the efficacy in reduced expression of FAS and ELOVL6 in liver fat formation was attributed to button mushroom property in inhibition of liver X receptor (LXR)(1) signaling in activated and promoted above genes.

Dr. Kanaya N, the lead author, after taking into account other co and confounders said, "WBM is protective against hepatic steatosis and NAFLD in OVX mice as a model for postmenopausal women".

Taken together, button mushrooms may be considered a functional food in the protection of the liver against the onset of hepatic steatosis, the early stage of fatty liver diseases.

However, further data collection on large example size and multi-center studies performed with human consumption of the whole food of button mushroom during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of anti-fatty liver possibilities.

#Emodin (ED) Found in #CascaraSagrada Inhibits #ProstateCancer Through Anti-Proliferation, Induced Apoptosis, Suppressed Angiogenesis,... Activity

By Kyle J. Norton

Cascara sagrada may have a potential effect in inhibiting the onset and progression of prostate cancer, some scientists suggested.
Prostate cancer is medical a condition in which the cells of the prostate have become cancerous, causing abnormal cell growth which spread to distant parts of the body.

Most prostate cancers are slow growing and enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be detected during the Physical (rectum) exams. However, some prostate cancers can grow and become invasive quickly.

According to the study of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, metastasis to the bone caused by tumor/microenvironment interactions remains the major cause of death in advanced prostate cancer(3).

In other words, this invasion may be a result of certain cancer cells that can reseed the primary site and gain more metastatic potential in the process.

The exact causes of prostate cancer are unknown, however, certain conditions may associate to increase the risk of prostate cancer, including age, ethnic group, family history,... and obesity.

Some researcher suggested that diet high in calcium is linked to an increased risk of developing prostate cancer and maternal high fat diet (HFD) is associated with increased risk children prostate cancer(4).

Most patients may not experience any symptoms until an advanced stage.
The most common symptoms include frequent urination, loss of bladder control such as weak or interrupted urine flow or the need to strain to empty the bladder, and the urge to urinate frequently at night. In severe cases, patients may also find blood in the urine and lost of erection.

Cascara sagrada is a species of buckthorn, genus Rhamnus, belongings to the family Rhamnaceae, native to western North America,

The herbal bark has been used in traditional medicine for gastrointestinal support. and it is thought to have a laxative and natural cleansing, etc.

Aloe-emodin, a chemical constituent found in Cascara Sagrada is found to inhibit both proliferation and anchorage-independent growth of PC3 cells by targeting the protein complex that plays an important role in stimulated cancer cell metabolism (mTORC2) for survival and expansion.

Further analysis also found that the application of aloe-emodin also suppressed the function of Protein kinase B, (Akt) of a cancer cell in signaling protection of cell survival, increased cell cycle progression and cellular growth, and protein kinase C alpha (PKCα) in the promotion of cancer cell migration.

Dr. Liu K, the lead author at The World Class Institute and Chemical Biology Research Center at the end of the experiment wrote, " Aloe-emodin (also) exhibited tumor suppression effects in vivo in an athymic nude mouse model" and "Collectively, our data suggest that mTORC2 plays an important role in prostate cancer development and aloe-emodin suppresses prostate cancer progression by targeting mTORC"

Epidemiologically, emodin (ED), another bioactive compound found in cascara sagrada, also processed anti-proliferation and induced apoptosis, suppressed angiogenesis, impeded metastasis, and enhanced chemotherapy.

In DU145 and A549 cells, the application of emodin suppressed the expression of both mutation gene CXCR4 and HER2 which are associated to prorate cancer risk without affecting cell viability in tumor cells and protects healthy cell integrity against mutated gene CXCL12 in the induction of cancer cells migration and invasion.

Additional differentiation suggested the efficacy of emodin in inhibiting mutated gene expression of prostate cancer was attributed to the bioactive activity in the prevention of a cancer cell in promoted mRNA expression and suppressed of NF-κB in the activation of cancer cell proliferation.

These results indicated that emodin may have the potential used as a novel blocker of CXCR4 expression as well as a powerful therapeutic agent for metastatic cancer.

The findings showed that herbal Cascara Sagrada (Rhamnus purshiana) with bioactive components that have strong effects in inhibited prostate cancer cells may be considered a functional food for the treatment of prostate cancer.

#GreenTea Reduces the Risk of Acute and #ChronicSkinDiseases Caused by Food Dllergens, Including Hives, Researchers Say

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reducing the risk of the sudden appearance of hives, some scientists suggested.
Hives, also known as Urticaria, is a condition characterized by a sudden outbreak of swollen, pale red bumps or plaques on the skin.

The exact causes of hives are unknown, However, epidemiological studies all agreed that a set of conditions such as allergic reactions, chemicals in foods, insect stings, sunlight exposure, or medications can all cause histamine release to initiate the onset of hives.

Certain diseases such as thyroid disease, hepatitis, infection,.... and cancer are also associated with the onset of chronic hives.

The acute condition of Hives are diseases that last less than six weeks.

The most common symptoms of chronic hives include red, itchy, or skin color welts on the skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes and anywhere in the body that last no longer than six to 12 hours.

In severe cases, chronic hives may induce symptoms of dizziness. wheezing. difficulty breathing,........ and swelling of the tongue, lips, or face.

According to statistics, approximately, 20 percent of people may develop hives at some time in their life.

According to the returned of 437 response rate (95%) questionnaires from the fourth to sixth-grade students at an elementary school in Yongin conducted by the J Dankook University to examine the food allergy that affects between 10.9% to 12.6% general population(2).* The prevalence of food allergy among respondents was 19.7%.

* The most common food allergy-related symptoms were urticaria

These results suggested that food allergens are one of the leading causes of the onset of hives among children between the ages of 9 - 12.

Green tea is a precious drink that processed a number of health benefits known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world. In investigating the roles of dietary factors in aggravating, preventing, or treating skin diseases such as chronic urticaria, and psoriasis patients, researchers at the University, of New Brunswick, researchers found that green tea not only reduces the risk of skin cancers but also processes a strong effect on inhibited chronic urticaria symptoms(1).

The study also suggested that green tea inhibits hives onset through its antihistamine effect.

Furthermore, Green tea also processes anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe swelling and reduce skin discomfort.

According to the Universidad de Málaga and CIBER de Enfermedades Raras (CIBERER), green tea bioactive compound epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), exerted anti-allergen caused by histamine-producing cells through alterations in their behavior such as their proliferative, adhesion, migration, and invasion potentials.

By exhibiting the anti-antihistamine effect, green tea may have potency in reducing the risk of acute and chronic skin diseases caused by food allergens, including hives(2).

Dr. Melgarejo E, the lead author said, "Green tea EGCG has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoral, and anti-angiogenic effects and to be a potent inhibitor of the histamine-producing enzyme, histidine decarboxylase"(2).

Taken together, green tea and its bioactive phytochemical EGCG may be considered a functional food in inhibiting hives caused by overexpression of histamine.

#AloeEmodin Normalizes High Blood Pressure by improving the Elastic Value of Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Good news to people with hypertension, Aloe Vera may be a potential therapeutic agent for lowering high blood pressure a renowned University study suggested.
Hypertension is a condition of abnormally high blood pressure, leading to symptoms of headaches, shortness of breath or nosebleeds......

Hypertension is a measurement with home systolic/ diastolic BP > or = 135/85 mmHg.

According to statistics, the prevalence of hypertension affects over 39.4% of men and 29.3% of women in the Western World.

Prolong untreated hypertension is found to induce complications of strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, or kidney disease.

Some researchers suggested that patients who are actively in modulated daily high blood pressure may be benefits in reduced risk of stroke by 35%, heart attack by 20%, and heart failure by 50%.

According to the WHO-based Healthy Diet Indicator (HDI), the American Heart Association 2006 Diet and Lifestyle Recommendations(4),
* The prevalence of untreated hypertension and treated hypertension was 22.4% and 8.5%.

* Patients with untreated hypertension had significantly lower HDI and AI-84 scores compared with non-hypertension.

* After adjusting for age, energy intake, smoking habit, alcohol drinking, physical activity and salt intake, a low adherence to HDI and a lowest quartile of AI-84 score were associated with a significantly higher prevalence of untreated hypertension, with an OR of 3.33 (95% CI 1.39 to 7.94, p=0.007) and 2.23 (1.09 to 4.53, p=0.027), respectively.

These results are agreed to the general and popular belief that an unhealthy diet plays an important role in the induction of high blood pressure. Furthermore, lower dietary quality was associated with an increased prevalence of untreated hypertension.

People who eat more fruits and vegetables compared to their average daily intake are associated with a significantly lower risk of hypertension.

Dr. Utsugi MT in the comparison of fruit and vegetable intake daily said, "The highest-tertile consumptions of fruits, vegetables, potassium, and vitamin C were associated with a significantly lower risk of hypertension (45%, 38%, 46%, and 43% lower risk of home hypertension, respectively(5)".

Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belonging to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan. It has become very popular for commercial cultivation due to enormous health benefits. Aloe vera has also been used in herbal medicine in treating many kinds of disease, including wounds, burn healing, minor skin infections, sebaceous cysts, diabetes, and elevated cholesterol,

According to the Hamdard University, aloe-emodin, aloin A, a chemical compound found in Aloe Vera showed to express hypotensive effects by lower mean arterial blood pressure by 26 %, 52 %, and 79 % in the corresponding doses of 0.5, 1, and 3 mg/kg in an animal study.

Dr. Saleem R, the lead author of the study suggested that Aloe-emodin has emerged as a potent hypotensive agent in the current pharmacological investigation.

In a total of In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study, healthy, Aloe-emodin, another major chemical compound\ inhibited vascular smooth muscle stiffness, a condition in the development of hypertension, involved cells in supporting structural and biochemical and the interior surface of blood vessels.

In hypertension, increased large-artery stiffness is partly due to the intrinsic mechanical properties of vascular smooth muscle cells.

More importantly, in smooth muscle cells derived from hypertensive and control rats study, treatment of Aloe-emodin also significantly reduced hypertension by improving the elastic value of vascular smooth muscle cells, through its effects on vascular smooth muscle cell cytoskeletal proteins in the regulated function of cell division.

Other researchers suggested that the antihypertensive properties of Aloe-emodin may be a result of inhibition of tonic tension and regulated apoptosis, pro- and anti-apoptotic activities on vascular smooth muscle cells.

With all the information collected, Aloe Vera may have an antihypertensive effect in regulated protein in cell production on vascular smooth muscle which is the main cause of high blood pressure, but more precisely understanding may be necessary to reassess this pharmaceutical value.
