Healthy Food Onion Reduces the Risk of Head and Neck Cancer

By Kyle J. Norton

Cancer is a class of diseases associated with cells growth disorderly and uncontrollably in the tissue of a specific organ. Over time cancer can become progressively worse and damage other healthy tissues.

Head and neck cancer is a class of cancer including the mouth, nose, throat, larynx, sinuses, or salivary glands.

Most cases of head and neck cancer start in the cell of the inner lining of the affected tissue. Patients with head and neck cancer at the very early stage are asymptomatic due to the very small size of the tumor. However, at the later stage, the cancer cell can travel a distance away from the original site to infect other healthy tissues and organ, leading to secondary metastasis.

The exact causes of head and neck cancer are not identified. However, researchers found that excessive alcohol intake, smoking, infected by the HPV virus, poor oral health, race, long-term exposure to wood dust are prevalent factors associated with an increased risk of head and neck cancer.

Dr. Shu-Chun Chuang in the investigation of the risk of diet on head and neck cancer (HNC) wrote, "An inverse association was observed for higher frequency intake of fruit (4th vs. 1st quartile OR=0.52, 95% CI=0.43–0.62, ptrend<0.01) and vegetables (OR=0.66, 95% CI=0.49–0.90, ptrend=0.01). Intake of red meat (OR=1.40, 95% CI=1.13–1.74, ptrend=0.13) and processed meat (OR=1.37, 95% CI=1.14–1.65, ptrend<0.01) were positively associated with HNC risk. Higher dietary pattern scores, reflecting high fruit/vegetable and low red meat intake, were associated with reduced HNC risk (per score increment OR=0.90, 95% CI=0.84–0.97)". wrote, "

In other words, a diet rich with fruits and vegetable and low red meat intake reduces the risk of HNC, whereas, a diet rich with red meat and processed meat is associated with a higher risk of the disease.

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belonging to the family Alliaceae, a close relation of garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild or sweet.

In the urgency to find a potential compound for the treatment of head and neck cancer, researchers investigated the potentially favorable role of garlic and onion within the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology (INHANCE) Consortium.

By analyzing the pooled individual-level data from eight case-control studies, including 4590 cases and 7082 controls, researchers found that at the 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for associations between garlic and onion intakes and HNC

* The ORs of  0.95 was associated with participants with no or low garlic use, and 0.74  for high garlic use participants.

* Increasing onion intake OR was 0.91 ( for >1 to ≤3 portions per week) and 0.83 ( for >3 portions per week) compared to <1 portion per week.

* Furthermore, higher onion intake showed a significant inverse association with laryngeal cancer risk (OR = 0.69; 95% CI 0.54-0.88).

In other words, the risk of head and neck cancer are decreased proportionally with the amount intake of onion daily and weekly, particularly in laryngeal cancer.

Based on the finding, researchers wrote, "The results of this pooled-analysis support a possible moderate inverse association between... onion intake and HNC risk".

Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of head and neck cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Bromelain Protects the Joints Against Osteoarthritis

By Kyle J. Norton

Osteoarthritis (OA), a form of arthritis, is a chronic condition found mostly in elderly caused by of wear and tear on a joint.

The University of Porto Medical School in the definition of  OA advised that one must understand the differences in prevalence and incidence estimates of osteoarthritis (OA), according to case definition, in the knee, hip and hand joints(3).

The condition affects over 25 million people in the United States.

The characteristics of osteoarthritis are aching pain, stiffness, or difficulty of moving the joint or joints. The pain usually gets worse in a change of weather, at night and in the advanced diseases, the pain can occur even at rest.

Today management of osteoarthritis (OA) focuses on pain relief and improved physical function and quality of life through pharmacological, nonpharmacological, and surgical treatments.

Most common causes of OA are
* Process of wear and repair
Osteoarthritis (OA), is a widespread degenerative disease of skeletal joints often associated with senescence invertebrates. arising from long term wear and tear, heavy long-term use or specific injuries. The improper repair process of injuring joints can also result in symptoms of osteoarthritis (OA) in old age, according to TCM.

* Nutrient deficiency and overload
Poor nutritional conditions experienced early in life are linked to the greater prevalence of osteoarthritis (OA), such as vitamin D. On the other hand, nutrient overload and metabolic surplus, such as obesity may contribute to early onset of osteoarthritis (OA).

* Cartilage
Cartilage is a flexible connective tissue cushioned the ends of bones in the joints that allow the joints to move smoothly. Rough or wears down cartilage due to aging or damage can cause pain due to the bone in the joint rubbing against another bone.

The above causes of Osteoarthritis (OA) may also be the result of injury, overuse, and Rheumatoid Arthritis,

In other words, lifelong protection of cartilage and joint damage and injury have an inverse association with the risk of OA.

Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapples (Ananas comosus) has been used in traditional medicine as an inflammatory agent and to treat pains, strains, and muscle aches and pains and ease back pain and chronic joint pain, skin diseases, etc.

With an aim to find a natural resource for the treatment of osteoarthritis, researchers compared the effect of a combination of bromelain, trypsin, and rutin (ERC) to diclofenac.

The study included103 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee randomly received either the combination of bromelain, trypsin and rutin or diclofenac including 52 patients treated with ERC  and 51 patients treated with the diclofenac.

According to the tested assay,
* The mean value of the Lequesne's Algofunctional Index (LFI) decreased from 13.0 to 9.4 in the ERC group and from 12.5 to 9.4 in the diclofenac group.

* Non-inferiority of ERC was demonstrated by both primary criteria, LFI (MW = 0.5305; CI-LB = 0.4171) and complaint index (MW = 0.5434; CI-LB = 0.4296).

Where LFI is a measurement of the severity of osteoarthritis.

* ERC also showed the superior improvement of secondary efficacy criteria, compared to diclofenac

* The global judgment of efficacy by physician resulted in at least good ratings for 51.4% of the ERC patients, and for 37.2% of the diclofenac patients.

Futhermore, the majority of patients rate the tolerability in both drug groups as very good or good.

Based on the finding, researchers wrote, " ERC can be considered as an effective and safe alternative to NSAIDs such as diclofenac in the treatment of painful episodes of OA of the knee".

Taken altogether, bromelain used alone or combined with conventional medicine may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of osteoarthritis, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Herbal Ashwagandha Arrests Ovarian Cancer in Vitro

By Kyle J. Norton

Cancer is the class of medical diseases characterized by irregular cell growth in the tissue or specific organ in the body due to the alternation of cell DNA.

The ovaries formed part of women reproductive system are the reproductive organs that connect to the fallopian tubes and attaches to the outer layer of the uterus via the ovarian ligament. Usually, the left and right ovary take a turn to release an egg every month in the mid-point of each menstrual cycle.

Furthermore, the ovaries also produce the female hormones estrogen and progesterone.

Ovarian cancer is medical a condition caused by abnormal cells growth of ovarian cells that start on the surface of the inner lining of the ovary. Over time, the oversize tumor can travel a distance away to infect the nearby organ and tissue via the fluid and blood circulation.

Ovarian cancer is one of the fifth most common cancer, accounting for more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system in the US, according to the statistics. The lifetime risk of getting ovarian cancer is a woman is about 1 in 78, comapred to the lifetime of dying from ovarian cancer risk of 1 in 108.

The causes of ovarian cancer are not cleanly defined. However, epidemiologically, family history, BRCA genetic preposition, never being pregnant or giving birth, tall adult height, hormone replacement therapy, smoking, exposure to asbestos are some prevalent factors found in patients with the disease.

Most common symptoms of ovarian cancer are abdominal bloating, pressure in the pelvis or lower back, a frequent or urgent need to urinate and/or constipation, changes in bowel movements and increased abdominal girth accompanied by general symptoms shared by other types of cancer.

The epithelial ovarian tumor is the most common form of ovarian cancer that is arisen from the cell on the surface of the ovary, accounting over 90% of ovarian cancer of all cases, including serious tumor, endometrioid tumor, and mucinous cystadenocarcinoma.

Germ cell ovarian cancer found in the a censer of the egg-producing cells within the ovary and sex cord-stromal ovarian cancer that occur in children and teens as a result of birth defects are 2 other types of ovarian cancer.

Ashwagandha also is known as Withania somnifera is a nightshade plant in the genus of Withania, belonging to the family Solanaceae, native to the dry parts of India, North Africa, Middle East, and the Mediterranean. The herbal medicine has been considered as Indian ginseng and used in Ayurvedic medicine over 3000 years to treat tumors and tubercular glands, carbuncles, memory loss, and ulcers and considered as anti-stress, cognition-facilitating, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging herbal medicine.

With an aim to find a potential compound for the treatment of ovarian cancer with no side effects, researchers investigated the effects withaferin A (WFA), a bioactive compound isolated from the plant Withania somnifera, when used alone or in combination with cisplatin (CIS) on chemo-resistance of cancer stem cells (CSCs).

The study included nude mice bearing orthotopic ovarian tumors generated by injecting human ovarian epithelial cancer cell line (A2780), administration of WFA and cisplatin (WFA) alone or in combination, showed a 70 to 80% reduction in tumor growth and complete inhibition of metastasis, compared to untreated controls.

WFA (2 mg/kg) injection resulted in a highly significant elimination of cells expressing CSC markers such as genes associated with cell to cell interaction, growth and differentiation signaling, and cell proliferation.

Furthermore, genes involved in cancer promotion, metastasis, and multidrug resistance and proliferation are also inhibited by the WFA, compared to no effect of mice treated with CIS alone (6 mg/kg).

In other words, CIS alone (6 mg/kg) inhibited CSC without affecting the aforementioned genes. These may explain the recurrence of cancer in patients treated with carboplatin and paclitaxel.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "WFA alone or in combination with CIS eliminates putative CSCs, we conclude that WFA in combination with CIS may present more efficacious therapy for ovarian cancer".

Taken altogether, Ashwagandha may be considered a functional herb for the prevention and an adjunct therapy combined with the primary medicine for the treatment of ovarian cancer, pending to the confirmation of larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Cranberry Inhibits Neurodegenerative Diseases in Vitro

By Kyle J. Norton

Age-related neurological disorders or neurodegenerative diseases are the conditions of the progressive death of neuron due to aging, leading to the problems with movement (called ataxias), or mental functioning including Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia.

Dementia is a general term of neurodegenerative disease that causes a decline in memory and thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person's ability to perform everyday activities and quality of life.

About 5-8% of all people over the age of 65 have some forms of dementia, and this number doubles every five years above that age.

Most common types of dementia are
* Alzheimer's disease
Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking, and behavior severe enough to affect language communication, memory, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer's gets worse over time, and it is fatal.

Over 1 million people in the US alone are currently afflicted by Alzheimer's disease because of degeneration of hippocampus and cerebral cortex(3) of the brain where memory, language, and cognition are located.

* Absence of acetylcholine
Absence of acetylcholine is a condition caused by damage of nerves located in front of the brain, that lead to language difficulty, memory loss, concentration problem, and reduced mobile skills due to lacking reaction in muscular activity and refection and anxiety- and depression-like behaviors.

3. Dementia due to long-term alcohol abuse
Most classic form of the condition is the Korsakoff's dementia results in extremely poor short term memory often associated with the memory losses of confabulations due to diminished processing resources and/or an encoding or retrieval deficit.

* Dementia associated with Parkinson's disease
Parkinson disease (PD) is a disabling, progressive condition that causes cognitive deficit due to the interruption of frontal-subcortical loops that facilitate cognition and parallel the motor loop, and the loss of substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) dopamine (DA) neurons.

Besides aging, geographical, hereditary and viral and toxicological exposure may also correlate to the development of the diseases on the elderly.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.

The root has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine for the treatment of dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.

In the course of continued finding a natural ingredient for the treatment of age-related neurological disorders (ANDs), researchers examined the effects of ginger used in traditional medicine for the treatment of various disease symptoms.

Cranberry is an evergreen dwarf shrub, genus Vaccinium, belongings to the family Ericaceae, native to Northern America and Southern Asia. Because of its health benefits, cranberry has been cultivated in some parts of the world for commercial profit and used in traditional and herbal medicine to treat wounds, urinary disorders, diarrhea, diabetes, stomach ailments, and liver problems.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, researchers examined the effect of purified cranberry proanthocyanidins (PAC-1A) on neuroblastoma (NB) cell lines.

On SMS-KCNR cells, PAC-1A caused a loss of proton motive force associated with the increase of generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that induce cytotoxicity in the tested cell line.

Furthermore, PAC-1A inhibited neuroblastoma (NB) cells proliferation by reducing the expression of the proteins associated with pro-survivals (Bcl-2, MCL-1, Bcl-xL) and increased levels of proteins associated with pro-apoptosis (Bax, Bad, Bid).

Moreover, pathways involved in apoptosis was also increased by the injection of PAC-1A compared to the inhibition of the expression of pathways involved in the promotion of cell cycle division.

More importantly, cyclophosphamide (CP), the chemo drugs used to suppress the immune system function also exhibited by the injection of PAC-1A.

In other words, PAC-1A and CP worked synergistically to increase cytotoxicity and expression of pro-apoptotic markers, reduced cellular antioxidants enzymes (glutathione (GSH) and superoxide dismutase (SOD)) levels.

Additional analysis of the anti-cancer activity of PAC-1A, researchers found that Additional features of PAC-1A also slow down the cancer cell cycle progression and induced cell death via TNF-family death receptor activity.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "PAC-1A has demonstrated the chemotherapeutic potential to treat a broad spectrum of NBs including highly malignant tumors that show resistance to standard chemotherapeutics and apoptotic stimuli".

Taken altogether, cranberry may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative disease, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Turmeric Protects the arterial Stiffness Against Onset of Cardiovascular Disease In Diabetes

By Kyle J. Norton

Diabetes is a condition characterized by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream that regulates the glucose.

Type 1 diabetes is associated with the immune system that destroys the producing insulin beta cells in the pancreas.

Types 2 diabetes is characterized by cells in pancreas died off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol.

There are no specific causes of type II diabetes. However, obesity, family history, ethnicity, the increase in age, gestation diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, and high blood pressure are the most common prevalent factors found in patients with prediabetes and type II diabetes.

Most common symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, increased thirst, tiredness. In severe cases, patients may also experience symptoms of blurry vision, slow healing of cuts and wounds, tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands or feet and patches of dark skin.

According to the statistics provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 100 million U.S. adults are living with diabetes or prediabetes.

In 2015, 30.3 million Americans or 9.4 percent of the U.S.population have diabetes.

Conventionally, medications used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes focus on alleviating the symptoms and improving quality of life and slowing down the progression of the disease.

Untreated and unmanageable type 2 diabetes may induce complications of the onset of cardiovascular disease, nerve damage (neuropathy). kidney damage (nephropathy), eye damage (retinopathy). foot damage and kin conditions.

Believe it or not, over 80% of type 2 diabetes diagnosed worldwide are associated with obesity.

WHO  in the differentiation of the genetics risk in diabetes, wrote, "The major environmental risk factors for T2D are obesity (> 120% ideal body weight or a body mass index > 30 k/m2 ) and a sedentary lifestyle (van Dam, 2003; Shaw and Chisholm, 2003). Thus, the tremendous increase in the rates of T2D in recent years has been attributed, primarily, to the dramatic rise in obesity worldwide (Zimmet et al., 2001). It has been estimated that approximately 80% of all new T2D cases are due to obesity (Lean, 2000)".

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belongings to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and for the treatment of flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.

On findings a potential compound for the complications of diabetes, researchers examined the effect of Curcuma longa on arterial stiffness and endothelial dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

A total of 136 patients of type 2 diabetes participated in the randomized controlled trial including 114 completed at least one follow-up visit and data analysis.

According to the tested assays that measure the arterial stiffness parameters and endothelial dysfunction markers at baseline and every month for 3 months, treatment with C. longa produced significant reduction from baseline in carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity and, left brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity associated with arterial stiffness.

Furthermore, aortic augmentation pressure, aortic augmentation index, and aortic augmentation index involved in the risk of cardiovascular disease were also decreased by the administration of C. longa, compared to placebo.

Moreover, after 3 months of C. longa treatment, C. longa significantly decreases arterial stiffness, compared to placebo in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.

Taken altogether, turmeric may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of arterial stiffness in diabetes patients, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Indicaxanthin, the Free Radical-Scavenger

By Kyle J. Norton

Free radical scavengers are antioxidants which process a function to protect the body against the oxidative stress by inhibiting free radical oxidation before they can facilitate a chain reaction or by stopping the chain reaction before they can cause damage to the body.

Free radicals are highly reactive molecules. Internally, they are produced by our body cell metabolism. Externally, free radical can enter our body from the environment sources, such as the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink.

More precisely, any chemicals compounds or molecules which process oxygen atom can be free radicals after chemical interaction.

Believe it or not, free radicals in moderate amount has benefits the body functioning, such as NO for vascular-relaxation.

However, without interfering by the antioxidant, overexpression of free radicals have been found epidemiologically to damage the lipid, and protein and induce the alternation of healthy cell DNA, leading to chronic diseases, including arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.

Oxidative stress is a result of the imbalanced ratio of the levels of free radicals and antioxidants enzymes in the body.

Out of all damages caused by overexpression of free radicals, some researchers suggested that lipid peroxidation induced by free radical has a strong implication in the pathogenesis of various disorders and diseases.

Dr. Kota V. Ramana, the lead scientist in the joint study led by the University of Texas Medical Branch, wrote, "Lipid peroxidation is a complex chain reaction process due to the oxygen-free radicals mediated attack of cell membrane lipids such as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) resulting in cell damage and dysfunction".

And, "Indeed, a number of preclinical and clinical studies suggest the involvement of lipid peroxidation products in numerous pathological conditions such as inflammation, atherosclerosis, diabetes, aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer".

In other words, an antioxidant with free radical scavenging activity may protect the body against the damage of various cellular components, including proteins, lipids, and DNA in the initiation of diseases.

Indicaxanthin is phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments of Betacyanins, belongings to the group of Betalains found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.

With an aim to find a potential compound for the treatment of diseases involved in oxidative stress, researchers examined the free radical-scavenging activity of indicaxanthin.

According to the tested analysis on the reaction of the phytochemical indicaxanthin with lipoperoxyl radicals generated in methyl linoleate methanol solution by 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile), and in aqueous soybean phosphatidylcholine unilamellar liposomes by 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane) hydrochloride,
* Indicaxanthin incorporated in liposomes prevented lipid oxidation.

* The free radical scavenging property was found to be concentration-dependent, but not linearly related to the phytochemical concentration.

* In liposome, indicaxanthin showed a significant delay against oxidation, particularly in that of the lower the concentration.

* However, in the corporation with alpha-tocopherol, Indicaxanthin exhibited cooperative antioxidant effects and reciprocal protective interactions.

* The increase of the ratio (indicaxanthin)/(alpha-tocopherol).showed a significant decrease in the extent of synergistic effects.

Taken altogether, indicaxanthin processes strong free radical scavenging activity, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Bromelain Kills Gastrointestinal Cancer Cells in Vitro

By Kyle J. Norton

Gastrointestinal cancer is a medical and chronic condition caused by the alternation of cell DNA in the gastrointestinal tract including esophagus, stomach, biliary system, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus.

Most cases of gastrointestinal cancer begin in the cell on the surface of the inner lining of the gastrointestinal tissue, before penetrating into the deeper layers.

Most common gastrointestinal cancer is gastric cancer, which is the fourth most commonly occurring cancer in men and the seventh most commonly occurring cancer in women.

According to worldwide statistics, over 1 million new cases were diagnosed in 2018 with the South Korean leading the map, second to Mongolia.

In other words, if you are Asain, you are at an increased risk of gastric cancer.

At the advanced stage, the cancer cell of the affected tissues can travel a distance away to infect the other tissues and organ, leading to secondary metastasis.

Epidemiologically, primary gastrointestinal cancer is more likely to spread to the stomach, esophageal cancer, breast cancer, renal cell carcinoma, and ovarian cancer.

Most common symptoms of gastrointestinal cancer include
* Throw up blood with the color of coffee grounds. if the bleeding cancer is located in the esophagus or stomach
* Black stool if the bleeding cancer is located in the stomach and small intestine.

*  Stool red with visible blood if the bleeding cancer is located in the large intestines.

Persistent bleeding to lead anemia due to a large amount of blood loss.

If you have some of the aforementioned symptoms that do heal in a short period of time, you may have gastrointestinal cancer. Please check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.

If the bleeding is slow, it often doesn’t cause the person to throw up blood or have a change in their stool. Over time, though, slow bleeding can lead to a low red blood cell count, and make a person feel tired and weak.

Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapples (Ananas comosus) has been used in traditional medicine as an inflammatory agent and to treat pains, strains, and muscle aches and pains and ease back pain and chronic joint pain, skin diseases, etc.

With an aim to find a natural ingredient against gastrointestinal cancer, researchers examined the effects of bromelain and N-acetylcysteine, the two natural agents anti-cancer effects.

In gastrointestinal cancer models to cisplatin, paclitaxel, 5-fluorouracil, and vincristine, a combination of bromelain and N-acetylcysteine with chemotherapeutic agents could give rise to an improved chemotherapeutic index.

In other words, chemo drugs used combined with bromelain and N-acetylcysteine are more effective in the inhibition of gastrointestinal cancer with lesser toxicity.

Furthermore, combined with bromelain and N-acetylcysteine also reduced the doses of chemo drugs used with the same efficacy.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "This represents a potentially efficacious strategy for the enhancement of microscopic cytoreduction".

Moreover, in the examination of the effects of bromelain (BR) and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on MUC2 and MUC5AC which have been found to significantly contribute to the biology and pathogenesis of mucin-secreting gastrointestinal tumors, researchers found that in vitro (MKN45, KATOIII and LS174T cell lines) and in vivo (female nude mice bearing intraperitoneal MKN45 and LS174T), a combination of BR and NAC with dual effects on growth and mucin products of mucin-expressing tumor cells.

More precisely, the treatment of the combination of BR and NAC protected the gastric cells against the malignancies with the involvement of mucin pathology.

Taken altogether, bromelain may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of bromelain in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.
