Coffee intake regularly may decrease risk of esophageal cancer developing, according to the study conducted by the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche "Mario Negr".

Esophageal cancer is a medical condition characterized by cell growth disorderly and uncontrollably in the esophagus, the food tube that runs between the throat and stomach.

Coffee, becoming a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

According to the data base extracted from hospital-based case-control studies conducted in Italy and Switzerland on oral/pharyngeal cancer included 749 cases and 1772 controls, with esophageal cancer 395 cases and 1066 controls, researchers indicated that the relative ratio of esophageal cancer for patients drinking >3 cups/day were 0.6. And the inverse association was more profound if taking other factors into account.

The study also insisted, there are no association between risk of esophageal cancer and decaffeinate coffee drinking and people consuming coffee in low amounts.

Additionally, in the study of 38,679 subjects aged 40-64 years with no previous history of cancer, 157 cases of oral, pharyngeal, and esophageal cancers identified during 13.6 years of follow-up, coffee intake regularly of 1 cup or more showed a inverse association in risk of esophageal cancer, regardless to sex and cancer site.

The relative hazard ratio of these group was 0.51 in compared to no consumption group.

Further to confirm the positive effect of coffee intake in attenuated esophageal cancer risk, the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO-IDIBELL) conducted a study in examined the association of tea and coffee consumption with EC risk among 442,143 men and women without cancer at baseline from 9 countries of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition, suggested that according to the returned questionnaire
1. During a mean follow-up of 11.1 years, coffee intake regular patients showed a significant lower risk of esophageal cancer in compared to non drinkers group.
2. Men coffee consumption was inversely related to esophagealsquamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but not among women.
3. Risk of esophageal cancer was reduced in current smokers with coffee consumption.

Taking altogether, coffee consumption daily and regularly are associated to reduced risk of esophageal cancer, particular in men and smokers.

Alternative Therapy: Yoga, in Reduced Risk and Treatment of Gastrointestinal Disorders

Kyle J. Norton

Yoga, as an  adjunct intervention may be combined to standard treatment in reduced gastrointestinal disorders, some scientists suggested.

Gastrointestinal diseases are the class of diseases of the digestive system including the diseases of  esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and rectum

Yoga, the ancient technique for harmonized external and internal body well being, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement and gesture..... has been best  known for people in Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

In comparison of the effectiveness of standard medical care (SMC) and mixture of yoga poses, meditation, and relaxation exercises given once a week in group of 69 patients, ages 8 to 18 years, with abdominal pain-related functional gastrointestinal disorders (AP-FGIDs), at the end of experiment, yoga participated group demonstrated a significant improvement of all aspects related  to abdominal pain-related functional gastrointestinal disorders (AP-FGIDs) of 58% inconpared to only 29% of non yoga group.

Subanalyses over the time period of 12 months, also expressed a significant greater reduction of PIS in favor of YT.

In fact, the presence of abdominal pain-related functional gastrointestinal disorders (AP-FGIDs may be a stress related diseases. As stress may elevate hormone production of cortisol levels in activation of the "flight or fight" response which direct blood flow to the nervous system, causing the reduced blood flow for muscle of the digestive system to perform its function optimally.

Furthermore, the elevated cortisol levels and reduced blood flow frequency caused by chronic stress, have been found to associated to the risk of gastrointestinal disorder, thus inducing symptoms expression of digestive disorder such as abdominal pain.

According to Dr. E A Mayer in the article of The neurobiology of stress and gastrointestinal disease, "the role of stress in the modulation of the most common gastrointestinal disorders has traditionally been considered a domain of psychology, and has frequently been lumped together with the role of ..... Chronically elevated cortisol levels".

Additionally, stress also was found to associated to reduced function of immune system in fighting against viral bacterial invasion, thus increasing risk gastrointestinal infection and inflammation.

some researchers also suggested that chronic stress may induce ulcer as a result of over expression of hormone adrenaline and depressed digestive system

Yoga exercise has been found to induce a state of calmness in reduced tension by some stress event and created a clear mind to tackle the stress in a positive way through relaxation and breathing, particularly, in harmonization of  the mind and body, yoga lead us to the stage existed in the present moment and connected mindful, conscious and connected way in solving stress.

Dr. Korterink JJ, the led author said, "At 1-year follow-up, YT in addition to standard care was superior compared with SMC according to treatment success, PIS, and reduction of school absence".

Interestingly, yoga therapy also showed to improve gastrointestinal disorder in day time behaviors problem of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), by reduced levels of inflammation in intestinal tract, irritation bowel syndrome, bloating and other digestion related problems.

Additional analysis also suggested that child attended yoga class also expressed improved Gl problems such as chronic constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, bloody stools, vomiting and flatulence.

In dept differentiation, yoga exercised by children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) exerted a significant improvement of all aspects.

Dr. Kumar Narasingharao, the led author  after taking into account of other confounders, at the conclusion said, "Yoga affects both physiological and psychological level which helps in overall development of ASD children and thus, enhancing the quality of life of children as well as family".

The information findings suggested that yoga may be used as a secondary form of therapy to assist standard intervention in reduced risk and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders

Risk of cardiovascular disease is reduced substantially for people engaging to yoga practice regularly, a recent study suggested.

Cardiovascular disease is medical conditions referred to heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke..... caused by the narrowed or blocked blood vessels.

Yoga, the ancient technique for harmonized external and internal body well being, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement and gesture..... has been well known for people in Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

In a total of 554 subjects screened, and 386 subjects (252 females) included in the analysis, short-term yoga-based intervention showed a significant improvement of 10-year cardiovascular risk (p < 0.001) with a strong positive correlation between CVD and serum total cholesterol (r = 0.60; p < 0.001).

The study also found that the correlation of cardiovascular diseases risk factors is associated to the improvement of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides, serum very-low-density lipoprotein cholesterol , and systolic blood pressure in yoga participants.

Dr. Yadav R, the lead author said,"yoga-based life-style intervention program significantly reduced the CVD risk, as shown by lowered FRS and estimated 10-year CVD risk".

Furthermore, in the review of the literature found in data bases of MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Out of 1404 records, 37 RCTs included in the systematic review and 32 in the meta-analysis selected, researchers indicated that yoga attendees showed a significant in reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases through improvement for body mass index, systolic blood pressure, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. weight loss, decreased diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and heart rate.

The study also found no significant difference between yoga and exercise, excepted smokers.in improvement of cardio health in yoga participants

Collectively, according to Dr. Cramer H, the efficacy of yoga in reduced cardio risk factors revealed evidences for clinical treatment as an ancillary intervention for the general population and patients with higher risk of cardiovascular disease, particularly for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Taking altogether, the clinical efficiency of yoga in reduced risk of heart diseases is associated to many risk factors, such as weight, cholesterol, blood pressure...... people should only attend the class tailored to their needs.

Food Therapy: Coffee and Caffeine Intake in Attenuated Risk of Hepatic Fibrosis

By Kyle J. Norton

Intake of coffee daily and regularly may be considered as a functional beverage in reduced risk and treatment of  liver fibrosis, a renowned institute study suggested.

Hepatic fibrosis is a condition characterized by overly exuberant wound healing causing excessive connective tissue builds up in the liver.

Coffee, the best popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

In the examine 910 patients with chronic HCV infection, 98% male and 38% with advanced hepatic fibrosis, researchers filed the following results
1. Intake of coffee is lower in control group in compared with advanced fibrosis
2. But caffeine intake of higher than 100 mg or more, daily from all sources was found in controls (66.0%) than patients with advanced fibrosis (57.9%)
3. Caffeine intake of controls mostly come from coffee intake
4. Intake of average daily intake of 100 mg or more of caffeine (adjusted odds ratio, 0.71; 95% confidence interval, 0.53-0.95; P = .020) was associated in increased liver protective effect.

The result demonstrated that moderately coffee and coffee caffeine intake of 100 mg may have a protective benefit against risk of advanced hepatic fibrosis.

Additionally, in the study, using food-frequency instrument for dietary caffeine consumption to evaluate the relationship between caffeine intake and liver fibrosis in patients undergoing liver biopsy completed a detailed caffeine questionnaire on three occasions over a 6-month period, researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), reported the results as follow
1. Daily caffeine consumption of 308 mg = approximately 2.25 cups of coffee equivalents was associated with reduced liver fibrosis
2. The protective association persisted without changing even after taking into account of other factors,
3. In compared to coffee caffeine, other sources of caffeine showed insignificant effect in decreased risk liver fibrosis.

After making adjustment from all sources, Dr. Modi AA, the lead author said, " . A reliable tool for measurement of caffeine consumption demonstrated that caffeine consumption, particularly from regular coffee, above a threshold of approximately 2 coffee-cup equivalents per day, was associated with less severe hepatic fibrosis."

Promisingly, in the study of chronic HBV-infected patients underwent transient elastography examination in 2006-2008, questionnaire returned from among 1045 patients, 216 (20.7%) patients with advanced fibrosis., researchers also found the similar results in compared to other studies as follow
1. The percentage of patients who drank ≥ 1 cup of coffee had advanced fibrosis was 95 (19.0%) , compared with 1.21 (22.2%) patients who drank < 1 cup (P = 0.21).
2. Caffeine intake does not affect liver stiffness in chronic HBV-infected patients in compared to coffee intake

Taking together, there is no doubt that coffee intake may have a profound effect in ameliorated risk of hepatic fibrosis and advanced hepatic fibrosis regardless amount intake daily.

Expected mothers consuming high amount of coffee and coffee caffeine during pregnancy may or may not associate to increased risk of offspring childhood brain tumors, respectable studies suggested.

Coffee, a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

According to the Australian case-control study conducted between 2005 and 2010 with children  recruited from 10 pediatric oncology centers and control children by nationwide random-digit auto account dialing, after taking taking into account of confounders
1. There are little evidence linking gestational consumption of any coffee and CBT risk.
2. The odd ration of risk childhood brain tumors was 1.76 among children aged under 5 years, for any coffee consumption during pregnancy.
3. For women drinking ≥2 cups per day during pregnancy, the relative ratio was 2.52.

Other, in the evaluated pooled data from two French national population-based case-control studies with similar designs conducted in 2003-2004 and 2010-2011 in mothers of 510 CBT cases (directly recruited from the national childhood cancer register) and 3,102 controls aged under 15 years, researchers also suggested that there is no evidence of coffee and coffee caffeine consumption in risk of childhood brain tumors.

Additionally, in the investigation of epidemiological Study on childhood Cancer and Leukemia ESCALE study and a national population-based case-control study carried out in France in 2003-2004. researchers found that there is profound risk between ependymomas, a tissue of the central nervous system and the highest consumption of coffee.

Dr. Plichart M, the lead author said, "maternal coffee and tea consumption during pregnancy may also increase the risk of CNS tumours".

Taking together, there are contradictory evidences to associate risk of childhood brain tumors to high amount intake of coffee and coffee caffeine during pregnancy. But women having a history of previous incidence should reduce intake of coffee as a preventive risk factor.

Yoga practicing may heave a positive and profound impact in reduced symptoms of autism, epidemiological studies suggested.

Autism is one of the most common forms of brain development disorder affecting one in 166 child every year in US alone. Children diagnosed with autism tend to have weak immune system and auto immune problems.

Yoga, the ancient technique practiced for harmonized external and internal body well being, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement and gesture..... has been well known for people in Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

In the study using experimental pretest-post test control group design, to investigate the effectiveness of the Get Ready to Learn (GRTL) classroom yoga program among children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) with intervention group received the manualized yoga program daily for 16 wk, and the control group engaged in their standard morning routine, researchers found that yoga group expressed significant decreases in teacher ratings of maladaptive behavior, as measured with the Aberrant Behavior Checklist, in compared to control group.

After taking account of other con founders, Dr. Koenig KP, the led author suggested that yoga intervention may have an therapeutic role in ameliorated classroom behaviors in children with Autism.

Other researchers in examine the relaxation effect of yoga in children with an autism-spectrum disorder(ASD) conducted a study of 24 children aged 3-16 years with a diagnosis of an ASD assigned to an 8-week multimodal yoga, dance, and music therapy program based on the relaxation response (RR), filed the following result
1. Children attended yoga exercise with age of 5-12-year-old children demonstrated a strong change according to Behavioral Assessment System for Children, Second Edition (BASC-2)
2, After completed the class, all children, unexpectedly displayed a enormous change in core features of autism measured by the Atypicality scale of the BASC-2.

With the finding information, researchers suggested that movement-based  involving yoga and dance may be used as an adjunct intervention in modified RR behavior, for treating behavioral and some core features of autism, particularly for latency-age children.

Interestingly, in support of the above differentiation, researchers at the Ohio State University Medical Center in the searching of the published article and studies, 23 studies and 9 work-, 11 ADL/IADL satisfied the criteria and guideline selected indicated that daily yoga therapy combined with brief exercise may be sued as a secondary integrated form of intervention to improve classroom performance and behavior and physical activities.

Taking altogether, there is no doubt that yoga intervention may benefits children of autism in both psychological and physical aspects, including work, activities of daily living (ADLs)

Yoga, a ancient technique may have a therapeutic effect on blood glucose parameters in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, a recent and renowned institute study suggested.

Diabetes is a medical condition caused by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream to regulate the glucose, caused by cells in pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol. In some cases, diabetes is also caused by allergic reactions of cells in the immune system.

Yoga, the ancient technique practiced for harmonized external and internal body well being, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement and gesture..... has been well known for people in Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

According to the joint study lead by the Yoga and Naturopathy Government Hospital, yoga participants showed an improvement on the blood glucose parameters in diabetes, through motivated  'lifestyle modification practices' including maximizing adherence to yoga should be the focus to experience any beneficial effects of yoga.

In a single group longitudinal study over 6 months sconducted at VASK yoga centre, Bangalore., researchers after taking account of other confounders suggested that patients with type 2 diabetes attending the yoga class over 6 months, showed a decreased fasting blood glucose through reduced stress.

Further more, the study qualitative data also revealed that most of the participants joined and expressed to complete the yoga programme which they belief can help cure their diabetes. Drope out of the participants is low with most reasons related travel, ill-health and increased work-load at office.

Interestingly and importantly, in the parallel, randomized controlled pilot study, 8-week yoga participants showed a decreased risk of diabetes through induced weight loss and reduced waist circumference and improved quality of life and potentially increasing psychological well-being in compared to a walking control.

Also in compared to walking group, there are  no significant difference in improvement in fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, insulin resistance or any other factors related to diabetes risk.

The efficacy of yoga in reduced risk and management of diabetes complications may be attributed the ameliorated systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, anxiety, depression, negative affect and perceived stress.

Other in an open label parallel three armed randomized control trial conducted among 124 recruited women with Diabetes for three months, yoga group showed a trend in decline of fasting plasma glucose and of glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) with a significant decrease of diastolic blood pressure and hip circumference with 90% of women attended classes regularly.

Taking together, yoga participant with type 2 diabetes showed significantly in decreased blood glucose, through many mechanisms, including weight loss, lower blood cholesterol, improved physical and psychological aspects,..... People should ask instructors for a class tailored to their needs.
