In compared to herbal medicine, food therapy even takes longer to ease symptoms, depending to stages of the treatment which directly address to the cause of disease.

Intake of coffee caffeine may have a potential effect in enhance alertness and rapid reaction, a renowned institute study suggested

Coffee, second to tea, is a popular and social beverage all over the world, particular in the West,  made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

In a randomized, double-blind, parallel groups design to rate anxiety, alertness, and headache before and after 100 mg caffeine and again after another 150 mg caffeine given 90 min later, or after placebo on both occasions, researchers indicated that caffeine intake expressed a clean effect in elevated alertness in compared to placebo.

Further differentiation also found that caffeine did not increase alertness in low caffeine intake participants, and non caffeine administrated to medium and high intake groups displayed a reduced alertness effect and caffeine abstinence reduced alertness and consumption in compared to baseline.

Other, in the study of 30 healthy volunteers received equal volume drinks equivalent to either 1 or 2 cups of tea (containing 37.5 mg or 75 mg caffeine), or coffee (75 mg or 150 mg caffeine), or water, in a randomised five-way crossover design with drinks administered on four occasions during the day (0900, 1300, 1700 and 2300 hours), researchers found that there were no difference in all group in expression of alertness, but following the second beverage caffeinated coffee at 75 mg, there was a significantly improved reaction time (P<0.05), in compared to tea at the same dose and placebo.

Dr. Hindmarch I, the lead author said, " ingestion of caffeinated beverages may maintain aspects of cognitive and psychomotor performance throughout the day and evening when caffeinated beverages are administered repeatedly" and "This study also demonstrates that day-long tea consumption produces similar alerting effects to coffee, despite lower caffeine levels".

More importantly, in a total of 19 healthy volunteers ingested 400 ml black tea, coffee, caffeinated water, decaffeinated tea or plain water on three occasions through the day (0900, 1400 and 1900 hours), researchers filed the following reports
1. Caffeine ingestion was associated with a rapid (10 min) and persistent improvement of alertness and again independent of time of day, but did not acutely alter CFF threshold.
2. In compared to caffeine consumed group, water and decaffeinated group expressed steady decline in alertness (LARS) and cognitive capacity over the whole day.
3. Tea and coffee were similar on all measures, including alertness
4. Tea and coffee ingestion was associated with rapid increases in alertness and information processing capacity if tea was drinking throughout the day, in compared to other groups.

Taking altogether, there is no doubt that coffee intake have a enormous and profound effect in improved alertness and rapid reaction if drinking throughout the day, but reduced intake or adsence of coffee caffeine may cause the opposite effect.

Food Therapy: Coffee Caffeine Protected Skin Aging by Increased Skin Blood Flow in Certain Areas in The Body

By Kyle J. Norton

In compared to herbal medicine, food therapy even takes longer to ease symptoms, depending to stage of the treatment which directly addresses to the cause of disease.

Epidemiological studies do not agreed that intake of coffee caffeine have a particular effect in skin blood flow, a joint respectable institutes study suggested.

Coffee, a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

In the review of coffee caffeine effect in skin blood flow, researchers at the study lead by the Linköping University postulated that intake of caffeinated coffee exhibit a stronger expression in increased skin microvascular response to  transdermal iontophoresis of acetylcholine (ACh)( non‐invasively introduce vasoactive drugs in regulating the neurotransmitter at neuromuscular junctions), in compared to decaffeinated coffee intake group.

The study also found that coffee caffeine after intake displayed a significant effect in microvascular responses in the forearm skin and decreased blood flow in the finger tips, during the first hour after of drinking;

These result suggested that caffeine in coffee showed a enormous activity in increased blood flow in certain areas of the body's skin and decrease in others.

In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study performed in 27 healthy volunteers with oral intake of a cup either caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee and reactive hyperemia of finger blood flow assessed by laser Doppler flowmetry, within an interval of more than 2 days, the same experimental protocol was repeated with another coffee in a crossover manner, researchers showed that caffeinated coffee intake group demonstrated a slightly decreased finger blood flow in compared to decaffeinated coffee intake group.

According to the index of post-occlusive reactive hyperemia, microvascular endothelial function, in compared with decaffeinated coffee intake, caffeine contained showed a important effect in enhanced microvascular function in healthy individuals.

Taking together, the findings suggested that intake of coffee caffeine exerted a significant effect in promoted skin blood flow through microvascular function which may have strong impact in reduced skin ageing in some parts of the body.

Herbal Therapy: Chaste Tree Berry, The Best Hepatoprotective Whole Herb Medicine

Kyle J. Norton

In herbal medicine, symptoms of the diseases can only be eased gradually, depending to stages of the treatment which directly address to the cause of the disease.

Chaste tree beery is found to associate with reduced risk of liver damage and diseases through various mechanisms, the recent study suggested

Chaste tree berry is a species of Vitex agnus-castus, genus Vitex, belonging to the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region, used in herbal medicine for thousands of year as anaphrodisiac herb and considered as Queen herb in treating menstrual problems and discomforts.

In acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity in mice study, oral administration of chaste tree berry increased significantly in expression of levels of antioxidant in inhibition of free radicals domino' effect and levels of ferric ion in induced hepatotoxicity caused by acetaminophen.

According to the Al-Hikmah University, Hepatoprotective effects of chaste tree berry may also mediate the alternative effects of acetaminophen in serum alkaline phosphatase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, albumin and total bilirubin levels which can also contribute to hepatoxicity.

Dr. Ajiboye TO said, " Vitex doniana fruits possess antioxidant properties and halted acetaminophen-mediated oxidative rout on cellular proteins, lipids and DNA, made possible by β-sitosterol, platycodin D, apigenin, saikosaponin, chrysin and ellagitanin, (the antioxidants) in the extract".

Furthermore, ethanol extract Vitex glabrata (EEVG) on carbon tetrachloride-induced liver damage in rats, .displayed also antioxidant activity in inhibited superoxide dismutase, GSH, lipid peroxidation (LPO), catalase and peroxidase levels in liver homogenate.

Pre-treatment of the extract illustrated a strong inhibited effect against levels of LPO in CCl(4)-intoxicated livers and reduced the elevated serum levels of chemical compounds which can cause liver damage.

In fact, the extract display a enormous hepaprotective effect similar to those of silymarin through enhancing antioxidant mechanisms of its components, predominantly artemetin.

According to the The Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy study, in the CCl4 induced hepatic injury in albino rats, vitex extract not only is comparable to the standard drug, silymarin (100 mg/kg, p.o.), but also altered serum biomarker enzyme levels which were damage through injection of CCI4, to near normal in treated rats.

Taking together, there is no doubt that Chaste tree berry may process a protective effect in reduced risk of harmful chemicals and drugs induced liver damage, but injection of large amount should be taken with care.

Food Therapy: Black Bean, in Reduced Risk and Treatment of Colon Cancer

Kyle J. Norton

People who turn to alternative medicine for treatment of disease in avoidance of adverse effects induced by conventional medicine should be patient. In compared to herbal medicine; food therapy even takes longer than six months to ease symptoms, depending to stage of the treatment which directly address to the cause of disease.

Black or common bean with abundant fiber may be considered as function foods in reduced risk and treatment of colon cancer, a respectable institute suggested.

Colon cancer is a medical condition of the abnormal proliferation of cells in large intestine.

Black bean, a small roughly ovoid legume with glossy black shells, genus Phaseolus, belongings to the family Fabaceae can be bought in most grocery stores all around the year in dried and canned forms. It is believed that black bean was first domesticated growth in South America.

In a study of rats injected with azoxymethane (AOM)-induced colon cancer or saline and one week later administered an AIN, black bean (BB) and soy flour (SF)--based diet, researchers found that mice fed with black bean showed a significant expression in attenuated gene expression in coloncarcinogenesis by modulating cellular kinetics and reducing inflammation.

Others in the experiment to test the prevalence of high bean intake and low incidence of colon cancer in many Latin American countries in 53-wk-old weanling male F344 rats randomly assigned by weight to the following groups: control (11 rats), casein diet (21 rats), and bean diet (21 rats), with animals fed the casein and bean diets treated with the carcinogen azoxymethane (AOM) once weekly for 2 wk, the results returned showed a significantly fewer colon adenocarcinomas (P < 0.05) inrat fed with bean diet in compared control and rats fed the casein diet.

Rats fed with bean diet also expressed a lesser in tumor multiplication observed by tumors per tumor-bearing rat than in casein-fed rats.

Dt. Hughes JS, the lead researcher said, "dry beans contain anticarcinogenic compounds capable of inhibiting AOM-induced colon cancer in rats. However, the specific anticarcinogenic components within dry beans have not been identified".

But suggested that the efficacy of bean in reduced colon cancer risk may be results of the dietary fiber, phytochemicals or other components within dry beans,...

Promisingly, the results of rats fed a modified AIN-93G diet (control) or diets containing 75% black beans or 75% navy beans for 4 wk, and then colon cancer initiated by administration of two injections of azoxymethane 1 wk apart, also postulated a lower incidence  of colon cancer in rats fed the black bean (9%) in compared navy bean (14%) diets than in rats fed the control diet (36%) at 31 weeks.

In fact, rats fed the black bean also a significantly lower of total tumor multiplicity in compared to control.

Black bean consumption addressed a significant evidence that change of diet may exhibit  more controlled appetites, induced less body fat, and improved greater concentrations of butyrate in the distal colon, thus ameliorating prevalence of colon cancer

Herbal Therapy: Chaste Tree Berry for Treatment of High Levels Testosterone Induced Male Sexual Libido, Acne and Prostate Disease

Kyle J. Norton

The use of plants for healing purposes has been predated long before the existence of  modern medicine. Herbal plants have formed a fundamental source for conventional medicine in discovery of single ingredient medication, including aspirin (from willow bark), quinine (from cinchona bark), and morphine (from the opium poppy)......

Recent study conducted by renowned institute suggested that Vitex agnus castus (Vac.) may have a potential in decreased over production of testosterone on the male reproductive physiology.

Testosterone is a male steroid hormone played an important role in male reproductive organs and building bone and muscle mass as well as stimulating sexual desire in both sexes.

In the study of hydroalcoholic Vac. extract (extraction by percolation technique) with the following doses: 65, 165, 265, 365 and 465 mg kg-', bromocriptine as a dopamine receptor agonist (5, 10, 20 mg kg(-1)) and haloperidol as a dopamine receptor antagonist (1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 mg kg(-1)) injection male mice treated with chaste tree berry extract or combination of the extract showed a significant decrease of levels of testosterone in compared to other treatment groups.

Dr. Nasri S, the lead author said, ". LH and testosterone were measured by Radio Immuno Assay (RIA). LH and testosterone, showed significant decrease in bromocriptine group and haloperidol increased these hormones. Vac. extract decreased significantly the LH and testosterone levels. The coadministration of Vac. extract and bromocriptine decreased LH and testosterone".

The study also found that Vitex agnus castus extract influences the neurotransmiters such as dopamine in regualted LH and testosterone secretion.

In confirm to the efficacy of chaste tree berry in reduced testosterone production, Vitex agnus castus L. (Vit.) fruit extract with 1650 mg/kg tested on male mice model with the doses (65, 165, 265, 365, 465 mg/kg) injected intraperitoneally for 30 days in 5 groups of animals, all tested mice showed a decreased testosterone levels in dose depending manner.

The researchers also insisted that through the Radio Immuno Assay (RIA), Vit. fruit extract has an anti-androgenic effect and probably acts through the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis and the side effects only appear after a long time of their usage.

Dr Jillian Stansbury, not the author of the studies said, " (due to the effects of chaste tree berry in reduced LH levels and testosterone levels ) that Vitex may improve symptoms of high testosterone levels in men, including excessive libido, acne, and prostatic disease."

The reduced levels of testosterone of the herbal medicine may be beneficiary for patients with high levels of testosterone induced of sexual libido, acne and abnormal prostate expression.

Food Therapy: Black Bean in Attenuated Risk and Treatment of Prostate Cancer

By Kyle J. Norton

People who turn to alternative medicine for treatment of disease in avoidance of adverse effects induced by conventional medicine should be patient. In compared to herbal medicine; food therapy even takes longer to ease symptoms, depending to stages of the treatment which directly address to the cause of disease.

Intake of black bean regular may associate to ameliorated risk  and treatment of prostate cancer, an Asian study reported. Particularly, people who follow Southern pattern of diet showed a reduction in risk of prostate cancer with approached statistical significance.

Black bean, a small roughly ovoid legume with glossy black shells, genus Phaseolus, belongings to the family Fabaceae can be bought in most grocery stores all around the year in dried and canned forms. It is believed that black bean was first domesticated growth in South America.

According to the National Taiwan University, fermentation products BN999, included black bean processed an anti prostate cancer effect through expression of prostate adenocarcinoma PC-3 cell line.

BN999, the product mixture induced cancer cell death by activating the protein gene involved pro cancer cell apoptosis via cell mediatory activities, including a network of membranous anatomical structure and double membrane-bound organelle.in energy conversion.

Most importantly, BN999 target prostate and other cancer cell without affecting the normal human cells and inducing obvious side effects.

Further more, water-soluble black bean condensed tannins isolated from black beans showed a significant activity in induced cancer cell death by apoptosis without affecting the growth of normal cells, in dose dependend manner.

Additionally, the study also addressed that the efficacy of water-soluble in induced prostate cancer cell death may be attributed to direct effect in decrease cancer cell energy molecule and formation of cell structure.

Dr. Bawadi HA, the lead author indicated, after 24 h of injection, water-soluble black bean condensed tannins showed a strong reduced coagulation of blood in stimulated cancer cell migration and regulated mechanisms involved growth of prostate cancer in formation of new blood vessels.

The finding evidenches suggested that black bean with plenty of phytochemicals may be considered as functional food  used alone or combination with other super foods for attenuated risk and treatment of prostate cancer.

Herbal Therapy: Chaste Tree Berry, a Valuable Chemotherapeutic Agent for Treatment of Cancers

Kyle J. Norton.
In herbal medicine, symptoms of the diseases can only be eased gradually, depending to stages of the treatment which directly address to the cause of the disease.

Chaste tree berry is found to exhibit a significant anti cancer activity, a recent study by renowned study advised.

Cancer is a class of diseases characterized by cells growing and multiplying disordered and uncontrollable way in our body. In the late stage, cancer cell may travel away from originated site
to infect other tissues and organs.

According to the Tianjin Institute for Biomedicinal Research, in the evaluated the apoptosis-inducing effect of chaste tree berry, using observation under light microscope, flow cytometric analysis and agarose gel electrophoresis, vitexicarpin, a flavonoid found in chaste tree berry significantly inhibited  proliferation of human cancer cells lines A2780(human ovarian carcinoma), HCT-15(human, colon, colorectal adenocarcinoma), HT-1080(fibrosarcoma cell line) and K562(Human chronic myeloid leukemia cells), depending to the concentration.

Dr. Wang HY the lead researcher in the study said, "Vitexicarpin induces apoptosis....  via mitochondria(in regulated cell metabolism)-controlled apoptotic pathway".

In support of the above analysis, the crude extract prepared with ethanol from dried ripened Vitex agnus-castus fruits exerted a strong cytotoxicic effects against cancer cell lines of human uterine cervical canal fibroblast (HCF), human embryo fibroblast (HE-21), ovarian cancer (MCF-7), cervical carcinoma (SKG-3a), breast carcinoma (SKOV-3), gastric signet ring carcinoma (KATO-III), colon carcinoma (COLO 201), and small cell lung carcinoma (Lu-134-A-H) cells.

The inhibition of the extract is attributed to the effect on cell death through apoptosis and increased intracellular oxidation in the tumor cells.

Other researchers suggested that the cytotoxic effects.of Chaste tree berry may be involved various aspects, including the JNK (opotosis) pathway. as indicated in the new native lignan VB6 study.

Taking together, there is no doubt, that chaste tree berry may be considered as a valuable chemotherapeutic agent for treatment of various types of cancer, depending to further evaluation.
