People who turn to alternative medicine for treatment of disease in avoidance of adverse effects induced by conventional medicine should be patient. In compared to herbal medicine; food therapy even takes longer than six months to ease symptoms, depending to stage of the treatment which directly address to the cause of disease.

Black bean, a small roughly ovoid legumes with glossy black shells, genus Phaseolus, belongings to the family Fabaceae can bought in most grocery stores all around the year in dried and canned forms. It is believed that black bean was first domesticated growth in South America.

Black or common bean with abundant fiber may be considered as function foods in induced weight loss of obese and overweight subjects, a renowned institute postulated.

According to the University of Exeter, evidence of meta-analysis found in the data base revealed a statistically significant weight loss through reduction of body fat by black bean in compared placebo groups.

Other in the study of dried bean in reduced risk of cardiovascular disease in obese subjects, black bean fed Sprague-Dawley rats and diet-induced obesity model in C57Bl/6 mice experienced weight loss as well as an improved plasma lipid profile within a 12 d time frame.

Dr. Zhu Z, the lead author said, "(Dried beans) account for the cardioprotective and weight regulatory effects".

In fact, a review literature obtained from the electronic databases PubMed, SpringerLink, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and MEDLINE with full text (via EBSCOHost) during late 2012 - early January 2013, researchers found that botanical ingredients from part of Phaseolus vulgaris and extract isolated from plants exhibited a potentially promising therapeutic effects in appetite controlled and weight loss.

Indeed, intake of high amount of dietary fiber has showed statistically significant benefits for reduction of body weight and rick factor in developed complication, such as gallstones.

Taking together, black bean, a  the common bean species hold a potential value in weigh loss and weight management through expression of appetite controlled and prevented weight loss induced complications.

In herbal medicine, symptoms of the diseases can only be eased gradually, depending to stage of the treatment which directly address to the cause of the disease.

Intake of common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), including kidney beans may reduce risk, risk of complications and treatment of diabetes, a recent study suggested.

Diabetes is a medical condition caused by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream to regulate the glucose, as the result of cells in pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol. In some cases, diabetes is also caused by allergic reactions of cells in the immune system.

Kidney beans with kidney shape, strong flavor and color of reddish brown in nature are often the excellent dietary selection with no cholesterol, but a good source of protein and minerals.

According to the Research and Graduate Studies in Food Science, School of Chemistry, although cooking induced a significant decrease of total phenolic, tannins and anthocyanins content, group fed with common bean not only showed a protection of pancreatic ß-cells but also displayed a significant reduction of blood glucose (22.8 %), triglycerides (21.9 %), total cholesterol (29.9 %) and LDL (56.1 %).

Dr. Hernández-Saavedra D, the lead author said, "The preventive-treatment group did not inhibit the increase of TNF-α(In relation of inflammation) and IL-1β(the inflammatory cytokins) whereas the treatment group did, compared to the diabetic control".

Other study in the support of bean species such as pinto, black, navy or kidney in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, suggested that intake of bean showed a potential health effects in reduced glycaemic stress in expression of hyperglycaemia and hyperinsulinaemia, the early stage of diabetes.

In a total of 17 men and women with type 2 diabetes controlled by metformin (n = 14) or diet/exercise (n = 3) aged 35-70 years participated in the randomized 4 × 4 crossover trial, in testing of the effect of white long grain rice control, pinto beans/rice, black beans/rice, red kidney beans/rice test meals, matched for 50 grams of available carbohydrate, after a 12 hour fasting, group treated with dark red kidney showed a attenuated glycemic response compared to rice alone.

Taking together, consumption of kidney beans as traditional foods may provide non-pharmaceutical management and treatment of type 2 diabetes and improve dietary adherence with cultural groups.

Post stoke patients may be benefit from reduced pain, improved range of motion (ROM), strength, and endurance with therapeutic-yoga, a recently renowned institute suggested.

Stroke rehabilitation is a program with an aim to regain some physical and psychological function after stroke, causing death of some cells in the brain.

Today, yoga, the ancient  practice has become a very popular form of exercise in Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

According to the Colorado State University, the significant improvement of physical functioning such as hip passive, upper extremity strength range of motion in post stroke patients participated in the 6-min walk after 8 weeks of engaging in yoga.

Dr. the lead author said, " therapeutic-yoga intervention may improve multiple aspects of physical functioning after stroke. Such an intervention may be complementary to traditional rehabilitation"

Beside improved physical functioning, yoga is also showed a significant effect in promoted psychological health and on quality of life.

In the review literature of major biomedical and complementary medicine databases, researchers at the Harvard Medical School found that 5 randomized controlled clinical trials and 4 single case studies identified the positive results of improvements in cognition, mood, and balance and reductions in stress in post stroke patients.

Furthermore, in support of the above differentiation, a prospective, randomized, pilot study of yoga-based rehabilitation for people with chronic stroke with yoga therapy showed a remarkable result in regain some forms of balance, balance self-efficacy, reduced fear of falling (FoF), and improved quality of life.

Taking altogether, there is no doubt that therapeutic-yoga intervention may improve multiple aspects of physical and psychological functioning as well as regained quality of life in after stroke patients and may be used as complementary to conventional rehabilitation.

In Herbal Medicine, symptoms of the diseases can only be eased gradually, depending to stage of the treatment which directly address to the cause.

Andrographis paniculata may protect our body against cigarette smoke-induced inflammation cause of lung disease, a renowned study postulated.

Andrographis paniculata, also known as Andrographis is a herbaceous plant, genus Andrographis, belonging to the family Acanthaceae, native to India and Sri Lanka, used in traditional Siddha and Ayurvedic in treating the common cold, flu, upper respiratory infections, infectious diseases, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, pneumonia, ......

Cigarette contains harmful chemicals including acetone, acetic acid, ammonia, arsenic, benzene butane, etc......which have been proven to induced varies respiratory diseases, including lung disease.

According to the The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, in CS-exposed mice, andrographolide, a chemical constituent found in Andrographis, significantly attenuated lung inflammation through reduced numbers of total cells of neutrophils, a common type of white blood cells, and macrophages, a cell found in stationary form in the tissues of infection in bronchial alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of intestinal lung disease, together with decreased production of cytokine/chemokine(small cytokine), pro-inflammatory meediators into BALF.

Dr. Yang D., the lead author in the study said, " Andrographolide, a bioactive molecule isolated from Andrographispaniculata, could protect against cigarette smoke (CS)-induced lung injury through activation of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), (an enzyme with function in response stress)".
The study also insisted that the effects of andrographis in ameliorated cigarette smoke-induced lung disease, probably involved the activation of protein in mediated cellular responses STAT3, together with enzyme HO-1.

In female BALB/c mice exposed to 2 weeks of cigarette smoke(CS0 followed by a single intratracheal instillation of NTHi, a respiratory tract pathogen common in local infection study, andrographolide promoted gene expression of antioxidant enzymes such as heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione peroxidase-2 (GPx-2), glutamate-cysteine ligase modifier (GCLM), and NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), against lung inflammation caused by NTHi in cigarette smoke.

Furthermore, in cigarette smoke-induced oxidative lung injury, andrographolide activated nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), a protein in regulated expression of antioxidant proteins against oxidative damage.

The study also suggested, the phytochemical also suppressed cigarette smoke-induced increases in lavage fluid cell counts, pro inflammatory cutokines and oxidative stress, through enhancing production of antioxidant properties against biomarkers in inducing lung diseases.

The information collected through studies strongly support a therapeutic potential for andrographolide in preventing lung diseases caused by harmful chemicals and pathogens in cigarette smoke.

Herbal medicine can only ease symptoms gradually, depending to stage of the treatment which directly address to the cause of disease.

Recent study suggested that cinnamon may be effective in prevented and treatment of osteopenic disease by inhibiting protein in transferred information of cytokine production involved cell survival.

Cinnamon is a spice derived from the inner bark of tree, native to South East Asia, of over 300 species of the genus Cinnamomum, belonging to the familyLauraceae, use in herbal and traditional medicine as anti-fungal and bacteria level, to improve reproductive organ, prevent flatulence and intestinal cramping, and to treat indigestion, diarrhea, bad breath, headache, migraine, etc.

Osteopenic disease is the early stage of osteoporosis involved the deletion of bone density in comparison to the healthy person.

According to the Keio University, cinnamon suppressed the osteoclastogenesis, protected bone density against erosion, interleukin-4 (IL-4),  an anti-inflammatory cytokine, involved production of white blood cell in inhibition of osteoclast differentiation through expression of T cell of immune system.

Dr. Tsuji-Naito K. in the study of Interleukin-4 suggested that Cinnamomum zeylanicum (C. zeylanicum) exhibited the strong inhibitory effects on osteoclastogenesis,......involved the regulation of white blood cells in osteoclastogenesis.

In a comprehensive systematic review of vitro and in-vivo, using databases from PubMed, Web of Science, SciVerse Scopus  published before 31st December 2012, cinnamon has shown to express inhibitory effects on osteoclastogenesis with minimal toxic and adverse effects.

The effectiveness of cinnamon in reduced risk of Osteopenic diseasesin inducing bone loss, including osteoporosis, bone metastasis, and rheumatoid arthritis may be resulted of inhibition of inflammatory cytokins expression in immune system. Use of cinnamon should be taken with care, as the herbal medicine has induced toxicity if overdoses.

In Herbal Medicine, symptoms of the diseases can only be eased gradually, depending to stage of the treatment which directly address to the causes.

Green tea may be a potential therapeutic functional food for prevention and treatment of asthma, a chronic inflammatory disease, touching people of all ages, particular in children, a renowned institute suggested

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the air way of the lung with recurring symptoms, such as wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing.

Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine ,or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory. But adding a slice of ginger will solve the problem.

According to the joint study lead by the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Kaempferol (3,5,7-trihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one), a flavonoid found in green tea exhibited  anti-oxidant/anti-inflammatory effects against various diseases, including asthma.

The study also demonstrated the function of Kaempferol in reduced oxidative stress through  scavenging free radicals and superoxide radicals effects as well as preserving the activity of various anti-oxidant enzymes in attenuated production of pro inflammatory cytokins.

In fact, evidence from in vitro and in vivo assays, postulated that aqueous fraction of green tea also exerted anti-asthmatic signaling activity in ovalbumin-induced asthmatic model.

Further more, in the study of mice induced asthma by an ovalbumin, aqueous extract of green tea displayed a potent anti-asthmatic activity by increasing the expression level of tumor necrosis factor-beta, (a protein involved production of one of the inflammatory cytokin in the acute phase) and interferon-gamma in displacement of immune function against microbial infection and decreased expression of anti-asthmatic cytokines in the lung.

More importantly, green tea alleviated asthmatic symptoms by increasing the expression of Th1 cell-in regulated the production of interferon-gamma and interleukin (IL)-2, proinflammatory cytokins and tumour necrosis factor.

Promissingly, another green tea constituent, namely Chafuroside A (CFA), water-soluble flavone C-glycoside, in an experimental asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)-rat model, treatment with Chafuroside A at 0.5mg/kg, 1.0mg/kg could attenuate inflammatory symptoms and ameliorate antigen-induced airway inflammation, respectively.

Dr, Onoue S, the lead author in above study said, " A self-assembled micellar (SAM) formulation might be an efficacious approach for enhancing the therapeutic potential of CFA for treatment of inflammatory diseases".

Unfortunately, there are few reports suggested that green tea-induced asthma in tea-sensitive patients, as epigallociatechin gallate induced histamine release through IgE-mediated response.

Taking together, there is no doubt that green tea may be considered as a functional food for prevention and treatment of asthma, but people with tea sensitive syndrome should avoid drinking green tea unless with approval of related field specialist.

People who turn to alternative medicine for treatment of disease in avoidance of adverse effects induced by conventional medicine should be patient.
Herbal medicine can only ease symptoms gradually, depending to stage of the treatment which directly address to the cause of disease.

Good news for people working in kitchen, topical Aloe vera may be the next generation of herbal medicine for treatment of burn and promoted burn healing.

Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belonging to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan. It has become very popular for commercial cultivation due to enormous health benefits, used in herbal medicine in treating many kinds of disease, including wound, burn healing, minor skin infections, sebaceous cysts, diabetes, anhe d elevated of cholesterol, etc.

According to review of the data base of studies in MEDLINE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, HealthSTAR, DARE, South-East Asia Database, Chinese Databases, and several Thai local Databases (1918-June 2004), Aloe vera has found to process a significant effect for burn wound healing with 8.79 days shorter in compared to control group.

Dr. Maenthaisong R, the lead researcher said, " cumulative evidence tends to support that aloe vera might be an effective interventions used in burn wound healing for first to second degree burns".

In fact, the efficacy of topical Aloe vera gel in the treatment of thermal burns is the result of its chemical constituents in exhibition of different pharmacological actions.

Other study support the efficacy of Aloe Vera for treatment of thermo burn, conducted by the Chulalongkorn University Hospital, in a total of 48 male Wistar rats equally divided into 4 groups as follows: sham controls, untreated burn-wound rats, those treated with once-daily application of normal saline (NSS) and those treated with once-daily application of lyophilized Aloe vera gel, topical administration of aloe vera gel after 14 days, showed a arteriolar diameter increased up to normal condition and the healing area of the Aloe vera-treated wound was far better than other experiment groups.

There is no doubt that topical loe vera may be used as potential herbal medicine for treatment of both anti-inflammation and wound healing applied on a second degree burn wound.
