Cinnamon is a spice derived from the inner bark of tree, native to South East Asia, of over 300 species of the genus Cinnamomum, belonging to the familyLauraceae, use in herbal and traditional medicine as anti-fungal and bacteria level, to improve reproductive organ, prevent flatulence and intestinal cramping, and to treat indigestion, diarrhea, bad breath, headache, migraine, etc.

Intake of cinnamon may induce immunomodulatory effect in regular immune function against certain diseases such as auto immunity. According to the Kyung Hee University, water extract of cinnamon bark (CWE) exerted the effect on cytokine secretion and activation of T cells.

The immune system is the set of cells and their activity against antigens or infectious agents that comprises of the body's defense system against diseases. The immune system does a great job of keeping people healthy and preventing infections.

Sodium benzoate (NaB), a metabolite of cinnamon ameliorated clinical symptoms and disease progression of allergic encephalomyelitis caused by immune over reaction induced inflammation, through enriched regulatory T cell population, and down-regulated the expression of various contact molecules in T cells.

Dr. Pahan K said, "Sodium benzoate (NaB), a metabolite of cinnamon and a FDA-approved drug against urea cycle disorders in children, ......, regulates many immune signaling pathways responsible for inflammation, glial cell activation, switching of T-helper cells, modulation of regulatory T cells, cell-to-cell contact, and migration"

Orofacial granulomatosis (OFG) is a chronic inflammatory disorder with symptoms of inflammation such as lip swelling but also affecting gingivae, buccal mucosa, floor of mouth,.....
cinnamon- and benzoate-free diet, after 8 weeks of treatment, significantly improve both lips and oral site.

Furthermore, experiment of cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) bark essential oil (CBEO) on human skin cells showed strong anti-proliferative effects on skin cells and significantly inhibited the production of several inflammatory biomarkers expressed by auto immunity.

Cinnamon may improve immune expression and reduce risk of auto immune diseases, intake of the whole herb should be taken with care in prevention of toxicity

Whole food(herbal medicine) used as medical treatment, linking health benefits in prevention, management and treatment of diseases has induced much interests in today renowned scientists.

But many researchers have raised question of herbal quality, because geographic differences, time of grown and harvest, etc. may effect their's potency. I do believe, these questions can only be answered by experience herbalists.

Cayenne may be the next antimntimicrobial natural whole foods used for prevention and treatment of infection, inflammation and common cold.

According to the joint study lead by the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, cayenne exhibited a broad-spectrum antimicrobial action, through its' immunomodulatory roles of mammal β-defensins(antimicrobial peptides) in regulated inflammation and activated the immune system.

Cayenne is also known as Cayenne Pepper, a red, hot chili pepper, belonging to Capsicum annuum, the family Solanaceae, native to sub-tropical and tropical regions used in traditional medicine to increases metabolism, enhance circulatory system and stomach and the intestinal tract, adjust blood pressure, lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, treat frostbite, muscles, arthritis, rheumatism, low back pain, strains, sprains, bruises and neuralgia, etc.

Thionins, a chemical compound found in cayenne is considered as an antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), which regulate plant defense system against pathogens. such as Candida species, with IC50 ranging from 10 to 40 μg.mL(-1).
The chemical compound also exhibited anti antimicrobial effect through its antioxidant activity against oxidative stresses. In bacteria and yeasts induced infection and inflammatory diseases, it exhibited toxicity and induced changes in the membranes of all yeast strains, leading to their permeabilization..

Dr. Diz MS, the lead author in the study peptides from chili pepper seeds, said, " F1(peptides from chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) seeds) fraction exhibited strong fungicidal activity against Candida albicans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Schizosaccharomyces pombe and also promoted several morphological changes to C. albicans".

In some yeast species, peptides isolated from cayenne also inhibited the growth of yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis, Pichia membranifaciens,

Intake of cayenne may improve the immunomodulatory activity in the body against microbial organisms induced infection and inflammation, but quantity intake should only be given by herbalist for prevention of overdoses' toxicity.

The finding of whole food medication by renowned scientists all over world to replace the single ingredient of Western medicine with little or no side effect has been difficult due to no commercial benefit and patent right to producers.

Garlic may be used as chemo preventive and treatment agent against hypertension. In hypertension of 80-90% patients with excess glucocorticoid level, allicin found in garlic attenuated dexamethasone-induced anorexia and loss of total body weight.

Garlic (Allium sativum) is a species in the onion genus, belonging to family Amaryllidaceae, native to central Asia. It has been used popularly in traditional and Chinese medicine in treating common cold and flu to the Plague, blood pressure cholesterol levels, natural antibiotic, etc.

Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. High blood pressure means raising pressure in your heart. If it stays high over time it can damage the body in many ways.

Blood pressure medications have undoubtedly prevented many deaths from heart disease in the past 30 years, but they have many side effects such as damaging the kidney. If you can control your diet, such as making changes to lifestyle, maintaining ideal weight and diet with low salt, you could do just fine without the drugs.

In an adult men and women, participated in the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (2006-2008 to 2012-2014), intake of garlic is associated to reduce risk of hypertension by up 26%.

In support of the above, a randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical trial conducted on 56 CAD patients, aged 25 - 75 years old also suggested that treatment with garlic-based drugs can be an effective treatment for controlling BP in CAD patients and has no interaction with other drugs that CAD patients take, after 3 months of administration.

Dr. Takashima M the lead author at the Wakunaga Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd said, " aged garlic extract (AGE) is effective in reducing blood pressure of hypertensive patients,......AGE induced the concentration-dependent vasorelaxation of isolated rat aortic rings that had been precontracted with norepinephrine"

In fact, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Food Therapy, and Hypertension Control, garlic is of the food recommended to be used to facilitate hypertension control. Based on a statistical analysis of antihypertensive foods recommended in 20 books on the application of food therapy for hypertension control.

Taking altogether, garlic may be used as preventive and controlling effects for patients with or without high blood pressure. Some researchers insisted that garlic anti hypertension effect may be resulted of its anticoagulant property.

But many researchers have raised question of herbal quality, because geographic differences, time of grown and harvest, etc. may effect their's potency. I do believe, these questions can only be answered by experience herbalists.

Herbal chamomile expressed significantly wound healing effect against injure and bacterial invasion induced more damage to the wound.
According to the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, C. nobile therapy at 5% C. nobile ointment was an effective antibacterial activity and accelerated the progression of wound healing, in vivo.

Chamomile is also known as camomile, common name of many species daisy-like plants in the family Asteraceae, used in traditional medicine as antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory constituents and to treat menstrual cramps and sleep disorders, reduce cramping and spastic pain in the bowels, relieve excessive gas and bloating in the intestine, etc.

Wound healing is a natural stage of recover of body injure.

In a Wistar male rats (210.0±4.2 g) divided into five groups: negative control group (NCG) without diabetes; positive control group (PCG) with DM (alloxan, 45 mg/kg) study, groups treated with chamomile extract optimize the healing of traumatic oral ulcers in diabetic rats through the reduction of apoptosis in regulated immune system.

The review of skin wound healing of phytomedicine, Dr. Pazyar N, the lead author said, " The healing process proceeds in four phases: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation and remodeling" and " Phytomedicine presents remedies, which possess significant pharmacological effects. It is popular amongst the general population in regions all over the world. Phytotherapeutic agents have been largely used for cutaneous wound healing.....(included chamomile".

The Roskilde Universitet, in the support of the wound healing effect of chamomile suggested the extract of M. chamomilla administered topically has wound healing potential in linear incisional wound, according to animal study.

Other studies also showed that chamomile proved effective in the treatment of oral mucositis in a hamster model.

Taking altogether, chamomile no doubt has consisted a significant wound healing effects by exhibited the increased wound-breaking strength, protein collage content through topical administration.
However, well-designed clinical studies are needed to confirm the clinical efficacy of this medicine in humans.

Whole food(herbal medicine) used as medical treatment,  linking health benefits in prevention, management and treatment of diseases has induced much interests in today renowned scientists.

Many researchers has raised question of quality of the herbs because geographic differences, time of grown and harvest, etc. may effect their's potency. I do believe, these questions can only be answered by experience herbalists.

Cat's claw found in the tropical jungles of South and Central America, is a genus Uncaria, belonging to the family Rubiaceae, used in traditional medicine over two thousand years as a tonic, contraceptive, anti-inflammatory and infectious agent, and to treat diarrhea, rheumatic disorders, acne, diabetes, cancer and diseases of the urinary tract, etc..

The chemical constituents of Cat's claw include, ajmalicine, akuammigine, campesterol, catechin, carboxyl alkyl esters, chlorogenic acid, cinchonain, corynantheine, corynoxeine, daucosterol, epicatechin, harman, hirsuteine, hirsutine, iso-pteropodine, etc.

Bowel cancer also known as colorectal cancer, is a condition of the abnormal proliferation of cells in the colon, rectum, or vermiform appendix. Bowl is divided in 2 parts, the first part of the bowel, the small bowl, is involved with the digestion and absorption of food. The 2nd part, the large bowel which consist the the colon and rectum, is involved in absorption of water from the small bowel contents and broken down of certain materials in the feces into substances of which some of them to be re absorbed and reused by the body. Bowel cancer is relatively very common and slowly growing and progress cancer and in predictable way.
Bowel cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in developed countries, including U>S and Canada.

Cat's Claw extract may have a role for cancer patients as a complementary therapy. According to the joint study lead by the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Cat's Claw enhanced chemotherapy-induced apoptosis, with an interference in cell cycle division in colorectal adenocarcinoma cells (HT29 cells).

Dr. Gurrola-Díaz CM, the lead researchers at the Centro Universitario de Ciencias de la Salud (CUCS) suggested, the anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative properties of different alkaloids extracted from Cat's Claw may be resulted of the interfering the proteins that pass signals into a cell through cell surface receptors. Uncaria tomentosa is less toxic in non-cancer cells than in cancer cells.

In a randomized clinical trial conducted of Patients (43) undergoing adjuvant/palliative chemotherapy, patient received chemotherapy plus 300 mg of Uncaria tomentosa daily, showed to reduce side effects of chemotherapy with no toxic effect.

Dr. Valerio LG Jr and Dr. Gonzales GF. in the review of the toxicological aspects of the South American herbs cat's claw said, " An important finding unveiled by this review is the importance of standardisation in quality and additional basic and clinical research to scientifically validate and understand composition, biological activity, safety and risk" and " Development of a comprehensive pharmacological and toxicological profile through critical evaluation of existing and future experimental data... "

Therefore, the use of Cat's Claw as a whole herb medicine should be taken with care. The quantity intake can only be prescribed by professional; herbalists.

Intake of cinnamon in patients is found to enhance mmunomodulatory effect.  According to the study by the Kyung Hee University, water extract of cinnamon bark (CWE) involved proteins in intracellular signaling molecules in activated T cells without exhibiting allergic, stress and over reaction of anti body effects.

Whole food(herbal medicine) used as medical research, linking health benefits in prevention, management and treatment of diseases has induced much interests in today renowned scientists.

Many researchers have raised questions of their's effectiveness, depending too much on geographic differences, time of grown and harvest, etc.. I do believe, these questions can only be answered by experience herbalist.

Scientists from varies respectable institutions suggested that out of many herbs, garlic may be one of most powerful whole food medicine in reduced risk of gastric cancer due to the effects of phytochemicals.

Stomach or Gastric cancer is a condition of abnormal growth of the mucus-producing cells of the inside lining of the stomach. Adenocarcinoma is the most common type of stomach cancer.

Diallyl disulfide(DADS), an antioxidant found in garlic inhibited the proliferation of several tumor cells by interfered in cell cycle arrest. Administrated garlic induced the reduction of 23% of live gastric adenocarcinoma cell line(AGS) in the G(2)-M phase, after 400 µM DADS treatment for 48 hours..

Dr. Wang X, the lead author in the animal study said,"... Aged black garlic extract induces inhibition of gastric cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo , may be partly due to its antioxidant and immunomodulative effects"

In fact, the effectiveness of garlic in reduced risk and treatment of gastric cancer, probably is due to its antioxidants, such as Diallyl disulfide(DADS) and extract in inhibition of cancer cells through influence of cell cycle division and negation of proinflammatory pathways.

Some researchers suggested to use garlic as chemopreventive therapy, as experiment showed that garlic scavenges free radicals, and inhibits cell proliferation of tumor growth.

Therefore, people who add addition portion of garlic into their diet may see the risk of gastric cancer development reduced substantially.
