Arnica may have a substantial and positive effect on reduced risk and treatment of osteoarthritis, some scientists suggested.

4.8% in the Arnica group reported some tolerate adverse effects compared to 6.1% in the group treated with ibuprofen.
After taking into account other co and con factors, Dr. the lead researcher said, "Our results confirm that this preparation of Arnica is not inferior to ibuprofen when treating osteoarthritis of the hands".

According to the study, treatment after 3 and 6 weeks demonstrated a strong improvement in the median total scores on the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), used by health professionals with a proprietary set of standardized questionnaires to evaluate the condition of patients with osteoarthritis, including knee and hip, including pain, stiffness, and physical functioning of the joints.
Furthermore, in regard to the symptoms expression of osteoarthritis, the application of the herbal preparation exerted a significant reduction of pain, and stiffness, observed by the pain and stiffness score.

Taken together, as a topical herbal medicine, Arnica may be considered a functional food for attenuated symptoms and treatment of osteoarthritis.

Oral cancer is a medical condition of malignant cell growth in the tissue located in the oral cavity, including the tissue of the lips or the tongue, cheek lining, floor of the mouth, gums (gingiva) and the roof of the mouth (palate).
The most common types of oral cancer are
* Squamous cell carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most common types of oral cancer accounting for over 90% of all cases and arises from the squamous cell layer in the lining of the oral cavity and oropharynx.
* Verrucous carcinoma
The low-grade and rarely spread verrucous carcinoma is accounted for only approximately 5% of all cases. The cancer can spread deeply into the surrounding tissue.
* Minor salivary gland cancers
The cancer originated from the salivary gland and accounted for less than 1% of all cases.
According to the statistics, approximately, 53,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or oropharyngeal cancer in 2019.
The disease also causes the death of over 9,750 patients, roughly 1 person per hour, 24 hours per day.
The grades of oral cancer are depending on the tendency of spreading. Low-grade cancers usually grow more slowly and are less likely to spread while high-grade cancer indicates otherwise.
The 5-year survival rate of the localized stage of oral cancer is 84%. However, If cancer has spread to surrounding tissues or organs and/or the regional lymph nodes, the overall 5-year survival rate is 65%.
The survival rate is even lower (39%) If cancer has spread to a distant part of the body,

On SAS human oral cancer cells, quercetin significantly reduced wound closure of SAS cells in culture plates after 12- and 24-h treatments.
Quercetin inhibited the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 promotes cancer cell growth and proliferation and (MMP)-9 is involved in cancer cells' angiogenesis and metastasis.
Additionally, quercetin also inhibited the proteins associated with the promotion of forming new blood vessels in SAS human oral cancer cells.
Furthermore, quercetin also blocked the expression of enzymes associated with the pathogenesis of many solid tumors through its inflammatory activation.
Moreover, proteins involved in cellular interactions with the extracellular matrix that cause tumor initiation, progression, and metastasis were also inhibited by the injection of quercetin.
More importantly, quercetin also exhibited the gene expression of tumor suppression such as P53 and apoptosis.
In other words, quercetin protects the oral cells by blocking the proteins involved in the signaling expression of tumor initiation, progression, and metastasis such as Ras homolog gene family, member A (RhoA), and protein kinase C (PKC).
Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of oral cancer, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Inflammation is a natural response of the immune system to protect our body against injury and damage-induced infection.

In colon inflammation triggered by high-fat diet (HD)-induced obesity in mice, mice fed with black bean showed a remarkable effect in a reduced pro-inflammatory expression such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6, by attenuating changes associated with HD-induced colon inflammation.
Additionally, black bean-fed mice also demonstrated a significant improvement of antioxidants through modulated colon mRNA expression and reduced macrophage infiltration into adipose tissue, causing inflammation.
Furthermore, Dr. the lead author expressed, " BAB ameliorates HD-induced disorders such as obesity and colitis by improving mucosal barrier protection and reducing endotoxemia, as well as by inactivating NF-κB to decrease the production of proinflammatory cytokines".

Scientists on finding a natural compound that processes a function in enhancing and protecting primary sex hormone in males examined the effects of ginger activity in enhancing testosterone production in males.
By searching the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases for English language articles (full texts or abstracts) from November 1991 through August 2018 using the keywords "ginger" and "Zingiber officinale" versus "testosterone" linking the effects of ginger on testosterone researchers found that ginger supplementation, particularly in oxidative stress conditions, enhances testosterone production in males.
The mechanisms by which this occurs mainly by enhancing luteinizing hormone (LH) production in stimulating the Leydig cell production of testosterone, increasing the level of cholesterol in synthesizing male sex steroid, testosterone (T), by reducing oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in the testes.
Furthermore, the application of ginger also inhibited the expression of free radicals by promoting the activity of the antioxidant enzymes.
Ginger also normalized the blood glucose by increasing blood flow to the testes.
Moreover, ginger improved the production of testosterone by increasing testicular weight and recycling testosterone receptors.
The finding strongly supports the use of ginger in enhanced testosterone production for the treatment of diseases associated with testosterone deficiency.
In order to reveal more information about ginger in the production of testosterone by examing the
ginger effects on multiple animal models, including 60adult male Sprague Dawley rats divided into * Group A served as normal control,
* Group B received 0.3% lead acetate in drinking water,
*Group C and Group D received supplementary 0.5 and 1 gm/Kg body weight of ginger respectively along with lead acetate in drinking water.
During the experiments, co-administration with different doses of ginger showed a significant rise in the testosterone levels in the teste, compared to the lead-treated group.
Interestingly, ginger application at different doses showed no significant change in LH levels, compared to the rise in the previous ginger treatment,
These results strongly suggested there must be other compounds from ginger that exhibit the increased levels of LH that are not mentioned in both studies.
Taken together, ginger may be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and combined with primary medicine for the treatment of diseases associated with testosterone deficiency.

Beet may be a potential functional food for reduced risk and treatment of pharynx cancer, a recent study suggested
Pharynx cancer is a medical condition of abnormal cell growth in the pharynx region, including the nasopharynx, hypopharynx, and pharyngeal areas. In the late stage, the cancerous cells may travel a distance away to infect other healthy tissues.
Beet, best known as the beetroot or garden beet is a perennial plant with leafy stems growing to 1–2 m tall, belonging to the amaranth family.
According to the joint study led by Vels University, the Phyto-synthetic method of producing silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) may be used as a mediator of beetroot in the enhanced treatment of patients with pharynx cancer.
In the pharynx cancer cell line, the silver nanoparticles enhanced by the beetroot effect through induction of cytotoxicity to cause cell death, without harming the nearby healthy cells.
Silver nanoparticles are used to enhance the function of biological treatment alone or combined with other pharmaceutical substances.
Measured by MTT assay, the inhibition efficacy may depend on the higher concentration proportionally of the photosynthetic substance.
AO/EtBr staining observations also found that Ag-NPs exhibited a mechanism of cell death probably through the depolarization of mitochondrial membrane potential caused by depletion of energy in induced cell proliferation, subsequently, in cell apoptosis.
In fact, according to the World Cancer Research Foundation report, strong evidence suggested that vegetables with high nitrate-containing such as beet may have a potential therapeutic effect in reduced risk and treatment of various cancers, including cancer of the pharynx.
Unfortunately, beet juice with a high amount of nitrate may associate with gastric cancer risk according to the review of literature of a total of 22 articles consisting of 49 studies—19 studies for nitrates, 19 studies for nitrites, and 11 studies for N-nitroso dimethylamine (NDMA).
Further analysis, discovered that high nitrates intake was associated with a weak but statistically significant reduced risk of gastric cancer, and increased consumption of nitrites and N-nitrosodimethylamine, NDMA may elevate the risk factors for gastric cancer.
But after taking account of other confounders, the risk of gastric cancer is not attributed to the intake of nitrate but to nitrate beverages with N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) contamination.
Taken together, beet and beet juice with a high concentration of nitrate may be used as a functional food to ameliorate the risk and treatment of pharynx cancer, but people with stomach ailment should avoid drinking any nitrate beverage with N-nitroso dimethylamine (NDMA) contamination.

The study included 80 overweight women who completed the randomized crossover study randomly assigned to consume dried sea buckthorn berries (SBs), sea buckthorn oil (SBo), sea buckthorn phenolics ethanol extract mixed with maltodextrin (SBe+MD) (1:1), or frozen bilberries for 30 days.
By comparing the metabolic profile that reflected higher cardiometabolic risk(group B) at baseline, and participants who had a lower-risk profile (group A), researchers showed that bilberries caused beneficial changes in serum lipids and lipoproteins in group B, whereas the opposite was true in group A.
In other words, bilberry exerted a protective effect against people with cardiometabolic risk without causing harm to people with lower risk profiles.
In order to reveal more information about bilberry inhibition of cardiovascular risk factors researchers investigated regular consumption of bilberries effects on CVD risk reduction, such as decreasing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglycerides (TGs) and increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).
The study involved women (n=25) and men (n=11) who consumed 150 g of frozen stored bilberries 3 times a week for 6 weeks.
During the experiment, the consumption of bilberries led to a decrease in total cholesterol, LDL-C, TG, glucose, albumin, γ-glutamyltransferase, and a positive increase in HDL-C (P=.044). In both women and men.
However, in men, additionally, favorable changes were observed in total cholesterol, glucose, albumin, aspartate aminotransferase, γ-glutamyltransferase, and HDL-C.
