#Andrographolide Found in Andrographis Exerts Direct #Anticancer Activity Through Cells by Cell-cycle Arrest and Increased Cytotoxicity, Researchers Say

Herbal Andrographis may be considered the next generation of natural chemo medicine for the treatment of cancer at any stage, some scientists found.

Cancer is a class of diseases characterized by cell growth and multiplied disorderly and uncontrollably. In the advanced stage, a cancerous cell from the originated site can travel a distance away to infect other healthy tissue via lymph or blood circulation.

Most cancers process a high survival rate if they are diagnosed early. According to the Mayo Clinic, over 56 percent of people diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer live for at least five years after diagnosis. However, the five-year survival rate for people diagnosed with late-stage of invasive lung cancer is 5 %.

According to the statistic on Canadian cancer provided by the government, in 2017, there were over 200,000 newly diagnosed cancer and 80,000 Canadians died from cancer. 1 in 2 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, and 1 in 4 will die from the disease, during their lifetime.

The exact cause of cancers is unknown. Researchers do not know why some people without gene mutation are susceptible to early onset of cancer while others do not

However, researchers do know that certain risk factors such as aging, tobacco, sun exposure, radiation exposure, chemicals, and other substances, some viruses and bacteria, certain hormones, family history of cancer, alcohol, poor diet, and physical inactivity are associated to gene change in the initiation of cancer development.

Most cancers share the common symptoms of tiredness, unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite, and fatigue. In the advanced stage, cancer patients may also experience additional common symptoms of dehydration, nausea and vomiting, constipation, and persistent pain.


Andrographis parniculata is also known as Andrographis is a herbaceous plant, genus Andrographis, belongings to the family Acanthaceae, native to India and Sri Lanka.

The herb has been used in traditional Siddha and Ayurvedic to treat the common cold, flu, upper respiratory infections, infectious diseases, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, pneumonia, swollen lymph nodes, leprosy, bronchitis, sore throats, tuberculosis,.... and chicken pox.

With an aim to evaluate the effectiveness of Andro administered alone and in combination with Cis against cancers, researchers at the University of Sydney, conducted an experiment, using ovarian A2780 and A2780(cisR) cancer cell lines.

Five different sequences of administration (Cis/Andro h): 0/0h, 4/0 h, 0/4 h, 24/0 h, and 0/24 h. are examined for their antiproliferative and apoptotic effects in tested cancer cell lines.


At the end of the experiment, researchers reported that
* Anti-cancer activity in combined doses was lower in the resistant A2780(cisR) cell line than in the parent A2780 cell line compared to the treatment of Cis alone.

* Andro alone was found to be three times more active in the A2780(cisR) cell line as compared to that in the A2780 cell line.

* Cis and Andro administered using the sequences 0/4 h and 4/0 h produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.


* The percentage of apoptotic cell death was found to be greater for the 0/4 h combination of Andro and Cis as compared to those values from single-drug treatments.


These results suggested although herbal Andrographis processes a strong anti-cancer activity, its efficacy is lesser than those of a combined dose of the herb + Cis.

In pulmonary cancer, using a lung tumor mouse model induced by human vascular endothelial growth factor

A 165 (hVEGF-A165), researchers found that

* Andrographolide significantly reduces the expression of hVEGF-A165 compared with a mock group in the Clara cells of the lungs.


* Andrographolide also decreased tumor formation by reducing vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) information of new blood vessels for cancer cells to grow, Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in the stimulation of cancer cells grow and divide, Cyclin A, a protein in regulated cell division and Cyclin B, a protein which plays an integral role in cancer hyperplasia expression on the transcriptional and translational levels.


Dr. Tung YT, the lead author said, " Andrographolide treatment on the overexpression of VEGF can arrest the cell cycle, which induced pulmonary tumors in transgenic mice. In conclusion, the antiangiogenesis and chemotherapeutic potential of andrographolide may provide a cure for pulmonary tumors in the future".

Furthermore, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories in the classification of the Andrographis anti-Cancers effect showed that
* Andrographolide treatment inhibited the proliferation of different tumor cell lines, representing various types of cancers, in vitro

* Andrographolide exerts direct anticancer activity on cancer cells by cell-cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase through induction of cell-cycle inhibitory protein p27 in initiated cancer cell cycle division and decreased expression of cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4) in promoted cancer cell-cycle during G1/S transition.

* Andrographolide also enhanced the tumor necrosis factor-alpha production and CD marker expression, resulting in the increased cytotoxic activity of lymphocytes against cancer cells.


Dr. after taking into account co and confounders said, "These results suggest that andrographolide is an interesting pharmacophore with anticancer and immunomodulatory activities and hence has the potential for being developed as a cancer therapeutic agent".


The findings strongly suggested that Andrographis containing the major bioactive compound Andrographolide may be used alone or combined with other medications for the treatment of cancers.

Diabetes is a chronic condition caused by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream to regulate glucose.

The person who is overweight and inactive is much more likely to develop type 2 diabetes because certain lifestyle choices greatly influence how well your body uses insulin".

These results suggested that by keeping your body fit and active accompanied by a healthy diet, one can totally prevent the onset of insulin resistance, the main cause of type 2 diabetes, regardless of other risk factors.

Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belongings to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan cultivated around the world in suitable climate regions for commercial profits due to its health benefits.

After injection of An AVG formulation (1 ml (10 mg)/day, 30 days) orally, in selected rats with PCOS positive rats with an aberrant lipid profile, researchers showed that* AVG-treated PCOS rats exhibited a significant reduction in plasma triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels, with an increase in HDL cholesterol.

* The gel treatment also caused a reversion of abnormal estrous cyclicity, glucose intolerance, and lipid metabolizing enzyme activities, bringing them to normal.

These results suggested that AVG processes phyto components with anti-hyperlipidemic effects and it has shown efficacy in the management of not only PCOS but also the associated metabolic complication of dyslipidemia.

Further to confirm Aloe vera anti-insulin resistance effect induction of type 2 diabetes, researchers at the University of Exeter conducted a review of literature from the database in MEDLINE, EMBASE, Biosis, and the Cochrane Library.

10 selected studies suggest that oral administration of aloe vera might be a useful adjunct for lowering blood glucose in diabetic patients as well as for reducing blood lipid levels in patients with hyperlipidemia.

The topical application of aloe vera was not an effective substance in preventative for radiation-induced injuries. However, the application might be effective for genital herpes and psoriasis.

Additionally, PAG antidiabetic effects were confirmed by intraperitoneal glucose tolerance testing. PAG injection also appeared to lower blood glucose levels by decreasing insulin resistance.

Dr. Kim K, the lead author of the final report, wrote, "The oral administration of PAG prevents the progression of NIDDM-related symptoms in high-fat-diet-fed mice, and suggests that PAG could be useful for treating NIDDM".

Taken together, herbal aloe vera gel may be considered a functional food in decreasing insulin resistance and preventing the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Prostate cancer is a condition characterized by irregular and uncontrollable growth of the cells of the prostate. In the advanced stage, the cancerous cells can spread to distant parts of the body through blood and fluid circulation.

Most prostate cancers are slow-growing and enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be detected during physical (rectum) exams.

According to a statistic provided by the Canadian government, 1 in 7 men will develop prostate cancer during their lifetime, and 1 in 27 will die of it.

Sadly, out of 4 men diagnosed with prostate cancer, 1 will die of it. which is very similar to the ratio observed for breast cancer in women.

Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a detox enzyme with a function involving the detoxification of many potentially carcinogenic compounds.

Participants were randomly assigned to six months of either a broccoli-rich or a pea-rich diet.

At the end of the study, researchers found that

* Pea-rich diet shows no differences in gene expression between glutathione S-transferase mu 1 (GSTM1) positive and null individuals

* Broccoli-rich diet group exerts significant differences between GSTM1 genotypes associated with transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFbeta1) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) signaling pathways.

* Both diets demonstrate significant androgen signaling.

* Men on the broccoli diet had additional changes to mRNA processing, and TGFbeta1, EGF, and insulin signaling.

The growth factor beta (TGFbeta) signaling pathway is a key role in tumor suppression through modulating processes such as cell invasion, immune regulation, and microenvironment modification normally. However, the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) signaling pathway can cause tumor development with similar physio activity.

In healthy and malignant cells, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) allows cells to grow and divide


These results suggested that broccoli interacts processed a strong anti-prostate cancer effect in patients with the GSTM1 genotype associated with inflammation and carcinogenesis in the prostate gland.

Dr. Traka M, the lead author after taking into account other factors, said, "Diets rich in cruciferous vegetables may reduce the risk of prostate cancer and another chronic disease".

Furthermore, in a population-based, case-control study of prostate cancer, including 428 men with incident prostate cancer and 537 community controls with genotyping for deletions in GSTM1 and GSTT1 performed in a subset of men who provided blood, researchers found that

* Intake of cruciferous vegetables also displays a significantly reduced risk of prostate cancer in men with a mutation of gene GSTM1. Particularly in the high broccoli intake group.

The finding suggested that 2 or more servings per month of cruciferous vegetables may reduce the risk of prostate cancer, especially among men with GSTM1-present alleles.


At the final of the experimental report, Dr. Joseph MA, the lead scientist, wrote, "(These results) are consistent with a role of dietary ITCs as chemopreventive agents against prostate cancer.

The depletion of the gene of the GSTM1 genotype of Glutathione S-transferase (GST) enzymes may be associated with an increased risk of cancer as this depletion reduced the function of GST in detoxifying most potentially carcinogenic compounds.

Taken altogether, cruciferous vegetables may be considered as a functional food in the promoted expression of detoxified enzymes to prevent the onset of prostate cancer, especially in men with the genetic mutation gene GSTM1.

Rheumatism is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease marked by inflammation and pain in the joints, muscles, or fibrous tissue, especially rheumatoid arthritis.

In other words, rheumatic diseases are medical and chronic conditions characterized by inflammation that affects your joints tendons, ligaments, bones, and muscles, including a group of diseases associated with arthritis.

Depending on the types of rheumatic diseases, conventional treatment may include medication for reducing the symptoms, physiotherapy, and stress management. The aim of the treatment is to alleviate pain and improve the quality of life. Sadly, none of the drugs has been found safe; all are known to produce mild to serious side effects.

The most common symptoms of rheumatic diseases are joint pain, and reduced motion in a joint, particularly, joint inflammation that induces swelling, and redness, on the affected area.

If you experience some of the above symptoms, you may have rheumatic diseases, please make sure you check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.

There is no single cause of rheumatic diseases. Researchers believe groups of factors such as genes and environmental influences may be associated with the onset of the diseases, including the increase in age, gender, family history, exposure to environmental toxic substances, and smoking.

However, the most common risk factor for rheumatic diseases in the Western world is obesity. Dr. the lead scientist, in the examination of the risk of obesity for the onset of rheumatic diseases, said, "The growing body of evidence recognizing the adipose tissue (AT) as an active endocrine organ secreting bioactive mediators involved in metabolic and inflammatory disorders, together with the global epidemic of overweight and obesity, rise obesity as a hot topic of current research".

" The chronic state of low-grade inflammation present in the obese condition and the multiple pleiotropic effects of adipokines on the immune system has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several inflammatory conditions including rheumatic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases".

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.

The root has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine to treat dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.

With an aim to find a natural ingredient or whole food for the prevention and treatment of rheumatic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases with no side effects, scientists at Odense University examine the traditional use of ginger against rheumatism.


The study included 56 patients (28 with rheumatoid arthritis, 18 with osteoarthritis, and 10 with muscular discomfort) randomly assigned to the use of powdered ginger against their afflictions.

Amongst the arthritis patients more than three-quarters experienced, to varying degrees, relief in pain and swelling. All the patients with muscular discomfort experienced relief in pain.

None of the patients reported adverse effects during the period of ginger consumption which ranged from 3 months to 2.5 years.


Further analysis of the results, researchers found that ginger exerts similar effects to that of conventional medicine as an important mediator of inflammation.

Dr. Srivastava KC, the lead scientist wrote in the final report, "At least one of the mechanisms by which ginger shows its ameliorative effects could be related to the inhibition of prostaglandin and leukotriene biosynthesis., i.e. it works as a dual inhibitor of eicosanoid biosynthesis".

Additionally, compared to conventional medicine such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroids which treat rheumatic diseases by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase associated with the symptoms of inflammation and pain, ginger demonstrated similar effects and improve quality of life in patients with rheumatic diseases, without inducing any side effects during the course of the experiment.

These results clearly suggested that ginger may be considered a functional food for the prevention and treatment of rheumatism with no adverse effects.

#Piperine Plus #Curcumin Protect the Neurons Against #CognitiveImpairment Associated with Oxidative Damage in Vivos, Researchers Find

Phytochemical piperine may be the next therapeutic ingredient for the prevention and treatment of cognitive impairment, some scientists suggested.
Cognition is the process of the brain including the attention of working memory, producing and comprehending language, learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Cognitive impairment is the condition, affecting a person's thinking, communication, understanding, or memory. Cognitive impairment can be acute or chronic.

Acute cognitive impairment is a short-term health problem caused by delirium, an acutely disturbed state of mind due to drugs (toxicity and withdrawal), electrolyte disturbance, lack of drugs, liver disease, infection, reduced sensory input, intracranial urinary retention/fecal impaction or m Myocardial/metabolic/pulmonary.

Chronic cognitive impairment is a permanent medical condition associated with problems of language, ideomotor and constructive praxis, visual gnosis, spatial attention, learning abilities, and executive functions.

There is no single cause of cognitive impairment. Some researchers suggested that depending on the locations of the brain that were affected, patients may be at risk of Alzheimer's disease if the brain change is caused by the abnormal clumps of beta-amyloid protein (plaques) and microscopic protein clumps of tau, Lewy bodies if the change is a result of microscopic clumps of another protein associated with Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies and some cases of Alzheimer's disease.

Small strokes or reduced blood flow through brain blood vessels can also cause chronic cognitive impairment.

According to the observation of the patient's MRI, the patient's brain with cognitive impairment also showed shrinkage of the hippocampus, a brain region important for memory, enlargement of the brain's fluid-filled spaces (ventricles), and reduced use of glucose, the sugar that's the primary source of energy for cells.

Risk factors associated with the onset of chronic cognitive impairment include the increase in age, genetic preposition, certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, high blood cholesterol, and pressure, being obese, and lack of exercise.

According to a joint study led by the Health Innovations Research Institute, obesity is also one of the major risk factors for cognitive impairment in the Western world.

Dr. Jason C. D. Nguyen, the lead author in the team wrote in the final report, "The incidence of obesity in middle age is increasing markedly, and in parallel, the prevalence of metabolic disorders including cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes is also rising. Numerous studies have demonstrated that both obesity and metabolic disorders are associated with poorer cognitive performance, cognitive decline, and dementia".

Piperine is a phytochemical alkaloid in the class of organosulfur compounds, found abundantly in white and black pepper, long pepper, etc.

On finding natural ingredients for the prevention of cognitive impairment caused by oxidative damage in the brain neurons, researchers at the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences examine the cognition protective effects of piperine co-administration with curcumin.

Cognitive impairment and oxidative stress mice induced by chronic stress (CS) were selected for the study.

Before administration of piperine + curcumin, chronic stress mice showed significantly impaired memory performance (delayed latency time to reach the platform) and decreased locomotor activity along with sucrose consumption.

Furthermore, without infection of piperine + curcumin, the tested mice also demonstrated significant impairment in oxidative parameters observed by the elevated malondialdehyde, and nitrite concentration and decreased reduced glutathione, and catalase levels) and reduced hydrolytic metabolism in transmitting information between neurons.

Application of piperine + curcumin restored all parameters induced by chronic stress, including the normalized cognitive function, and improved the antioxidant status against overexpression of free radicals.

Most importantly, co-administration of piperine (20mg/kg; p.o.) with curcumin (100 and 200mg/kg, p.o.) significantly elevated the cognitive protective effect compared to individual use.


Dr. Rinwa P, the lead scientist said in the final report, "Piperine enhanced the bioavailability of curcumin and potentiated its protective effects against CUS-induced cognitive impairment and associated oxidative damage in mice".


In order to reconfirm the co-administration of piperine with curcumin the neuroprotective effects, researchers elucidate the neuroprotective mechanism of curcumin and its co-administration with piperine against olfactory bulbectomy-induced depression in rats.

Before injecting piperine + curcumin, the tested rat showed depression-like symptoms as evidenced by increased immobility time in FST, hyperactivity in open field arena, and anhedonic-like response in SPT along with alterations in mitochondrial enzyme complexes, increased serum corticosterone levels and oxidative damage similar to those of the previous study.


The overexpression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, proteins associated with neuron apoptosis, and oxidative stress in tested rats caused by olfactory bulbectomy were also inhibited by the co-administration of piperine with curcumin.

The in-depth analysis suggested that the combination of piperine plus curcumin treatment significantly and dose-dependently restored all behavioral, biochemical, mitochondrial, molecular, and histopathological alterations associated with OBX-induced depression.

Dr. Rinwa P said, "Curcumin along with piperine exhibits neuroprotection against olfactory bulbectomy-induced depression possibly by modulating oxidative-nitrosative stress-induced neuroinflammation and apoptosis".

Taken together, the discovery strongly supports the use of piperine and curcumin for the prevention and treatment of cognitive impairment, pending the reconfirmation of larger sample size and multicenter possibility.

Celery may have a profound and positive effect on the prevention and treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases, some scientists found.

Inflammation is a natural reaction to a systematic immune response that protects our body against stimuli or invasive pathogens.

Acute inflammation is a result of the immune white blood cell response to tissue damage or injury by stimulating the production of proinflammatory cytokines with an aim to kill off the microorganism which tries to enter the body through the wound.

Chronic inflammation is a condition of low-grade inflammation adopted by the immunity caused by the immune inability to kill off all invaders in the acute phase of infection.

Some researchers then examine the immune evolution over thousands of years suggested that the immune system has evolved to destroy foreign pathogens after entering in a specific time within 3 -8 weeks, otherwise, it will adapt to the change.

Chronic inflammation also is an autoimmune disease caused by the immune system mistakenly attacks the bodily tissue.

Epidemiological studies suggested that aging that causes low production of sex hormones, being obese and obese, and smoking are associated with the early onset of chronic inflammatory diseases.

Some researchers suggested that out of several risk factors, a poor diet in the long term is one of the major causes of chronic inflammatory diseases.

The results suggested that celery extract rich in flavones may have the potential for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory diseases.

Additional differentiation of the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity in-vitro and in-vivo of the compound flavonoids found abundantly in celery, researchers launched an evaluation to examine the effects of the ethanol/water (1:1) extract of the leaves of Apium graveolens var. dulce (celery) on iNOS expression and NO production in a tested macrophage cell line stimulated for 24 h with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Where the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) is one of the direct consequences of the inflammatory process and overproduction of NO is considered a pro-inflammatory mediator that induces inflammation.

In vitro, treatment of the extract and apiin showed significant inhibitory activity on nitrite (NO) production and iNOS expression observed by the tested cell line assay.

Interestingly, the extract exerted anti-inflammatory activity in-vivo (ID50 730 microg cm(-2)), with a potency seven times lower than those of indomethacin (ID50 93 microg cm(-2)), the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used as references.

The finding clearly suggested the inhibitory activity of the extract and apiin in-vitro on iNOS expression and nitrite production.

Taken together, celery may be considered a functional food for the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases without inducing any side effects, pending the validation of a larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Avocado Seed and Fruit Oil Extracts in the Promotion of #Skinhealth Show A Significant Increase in Soluble Collagen Content in the Skin, Researchers Say

Skin, a large organ of the body protects our tissue and organs against the invasion of pathogens and fluid loss.
There are many causes of skin damage. Sun exposure is the most common cause of skin damage. Other causes of skin damage include smoking cigarettes, drinking too much alcohol, extreme temperatures, and exposure to toxic chemicals and pollutants in the air outside.

Some researchers suggested that free radicals bombard our bodies daily are also associated with skin damage in the modern world.


Free radicals are unstable molecules with the unpaired electron on the outer ring. In order for them to become balanced, free radical either donates or intercept an electron from another stable molecule, leading to a chain reaction that can not be stopped until the outer ring election is paired or inhibited by an antioxidant.

In fact, free radical formation occurs continuously in the cells as a consequence of both enzymatic and nonenzymatic reactions, they can be generated by our bodies such as the process of metabolism and exogenous sources such as pollution, alcohol, and tobacco smoke.

Free radicals can affect our skin in different ways, including the alternation of the DNA, damage of lipid membranes, and collagen structures, and inducing photoaging and cancer.


Dr. Borut Poljšak, in the study "Free Radicals and Extrinsic Skin Aging," wrote, "Extrinsic skin damage develops due to several factors: ionizing radiation, severe physical and psychological stress, alcohol intake, poor nutrition, overeating, environmental pollution, and exposure to UV radiation (UVR)". and

"The only protection of our skin is in its endogenous protection (melanin and enzymatic antioxidants) and antioxidants we consume from the food (vitamin A, C, E, etc.)".

These results suggested that although free radicals can induce the early onset of skin damage and aging, providing our body with enough antioxidants from food sources is the best way to counter the process.


Avocado is a commercially valuable fruit cultivated in tropical climates throughout the world. It is a green-skinned, pear-shaped fruit that ripens after harvesting and is native to the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, and Central America, belonging to the flowering plant family Lauraceae.

In finding a natural ingredient or essential oil which has a potential effect on skin health without inducing any side effects, researchers explored the effects of various avocado oils on collagen metabolism.

In skin rats fed diets containing 10% (w/w) of the tested oils, researchers found the akin protective effects were totally dependent on the types of avocado oil.


Rats fed the unrefined avocado oil extracted with hexane from the intact fruit, including unsaponifiable or avocado seed oil, showed a significant increase in soluble collagen content in the skin, though total collagen content was not affected.


The increased soluble collagen content was attributed to the inhibition of lysyl oxidase activity whose increment is associated with the oxidative stress induced by chronic exposure to skin harmful substances.

The active factor which protects skin health was found to be present in the unrefined avocado oil and probably originated from the avocado seed, observed by the collagen metabolism which is affected only by fractions containing lipids fraction from the seed.

In order to illustrate the effects of avocado oil on skin health, researchers evaluated the wound-healing activity of a semisolid formulation of avocado oil, SSFAO 50%, or avocado oil in natural, incisional, and excisional cutaneous wound models in Wistar rats.


On the 14 days of application on the wound, 50% SSFAO or avocado oil demonstrate a significant increase in percentage wound contraction and reepithelialization, compared to the petroleum jelly control.

The treatment group also displayed an increase in anti-inflammatory activity, density of collagen, and tensile strength, compared to control groups.


This efficacy of the 50% SSFAO or avocado oil was attributed to the contents of the bioactive compounds, oleic fatty acid (47.20%), followed by palmitic (23.66%), linoleic (13.46%) docosadienoic (8.88%), palmitoleic (3.58%), linolenic (1.60%), eicosenoic (1.29%), and myristic acids (0.33%).

Dr. de Oliveira AP, the lead scientist wrote in the final report, "When used in natural or in pharmaceutical formulations for topical use, avocado oil can promote increased collagen synthesis and decreased numbers of inflammatory cells during the wound-healing process".

In skin exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, unique lipid molecules, polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols (PFA), extracted from avocado, reduced significantly UV-induced cellular damage, through increasing cell viability, decreased the secretion of IL-6, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, and PGE(2) in mediated the inflammation process.

Taken altogether, avocado processed abundantly bioactive compounds may be considered a functional food for the promotion of skin health without inducing any side effects
