#Turmeric's #Curcumin and Fennel Essential Oil (CU-FEO) Improve Quality of Life in Patients with #IrritableBowelSyndrome

Kyle J. Norton

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic condition that affects the large intestine.

The most common symptoms of IBS include abdominal cramping and pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation.

In severe cases, patients may also experience symptoms of urinary or sexual problems.
If you have the aforementioned symptoms persistently without signs of healing, please check with your doctors to rule out the possibility.

As of today, researchers do not know the exact cause of IBS. However, they do know that being a woman, smoking, frequent alcohol consumption, younger age, and psychological and physical stress, are most susceptible to the onset of the disease.

Believe it or not, most people with some of the risk factors have never had IBS.

Treatment of IBS is focusing on reduced symptoms and depending on the types of symptoms including a change of diet with food that has slowed the movement of food through the digestive system, and antibiotics for an infection.

According to statistics, in the US, approximately 25 and 45 million. Americans are affected by IBS. Most of them are women in their late teens and early 40s.

Dr. Anamaria Cozma-Petruţ, the lead scientist in the evaluation of the dietary effect on IBS, wrote, "Despite the limited evidence for a beneficial role, general advice on healthy eating and lifestyle is recommended as the first-line approach in the dietary management of IBS".

And, "Standard recommendations include adhering to a regular meal pattern, reducing intake of insoluble fibers, alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and fat, as well as performing regular physical activity and ensuring good hydration. The second-line dietary approach should be considered where IBS symptoms persist and recommendations include following a low FODMAP diet".

The results clearly suggested that IBS can be managed by eating a recommended diet or diet delivered only by a healthcare professional with expertise in dietary management.

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.

In finding a potential compound for the treatment of irritable bowel disease, researchers examined the efficacy of bio-optimized extracts of turmeric and essential fennel oil (Enterofytol®) in IBS patients.

The study total included a total of 211 patients (14% diarrhea-predominant, IBS-D; 24% constipation-predominant, IBS-C; 62% mixed, IBS-M) enrolled by general practitioners and completed questionnaires measuring symptom severity and QoL before and after Enterofytol®, two capsules b.i.d. for one month, followed by two capsules q.d. for another month.

After taking other factors into account, researchers found that Enterofytol® not only improved the quality of life of the participants but also reduced the IBS severity index, particularly in IBS-D patients with the worst clinical picture at entry, with the highest IBS severity index and the lowest QoL score, compared with IBS-C and IBS-M subtypes. IBS-D patients.

Furthermore, also compared to other subgroups, IBS-D patients with the worst clinical picture at entry also showed the most pronounced response to therapy, considering both scores.

Moreover, Enterofytol® efficacy in the improvement in the IBS severity index was independent of age and sex.

Based on the findings, researchers wrote in the final report, "the combination of turmeric and essential fennel oil over two months improves both symptoms and QoL in IBS patients, irrespectively of age, sex, initial severity of symptoms and IBS-subtypes".

According to the joint experiment to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of a combination of curcumin and fennel essential oil (CU-FEO) in IBS symptoms relief in a total of 121 patients with mild-to-moderate symptoms of IBS defined by an Irritable Bowel Syndrome- symptom severity score (IBS-SSS) 100-300 and abdominal pain score 30-70 on a 100 mm Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), randomly assigned to CU-FEO or placebo (2 capsules b.d. for 30 days), conducted led by the University Medical School, 30 days of treatment of CU-FEO resulted in symptom relief in patients with IBS.

Moreover, CU-FEO showed a significant decrease in the mean relative IBS-SSS at the same time frame without inducing any adverse effects.

At the end of the study, 25.9 % treated with CU-FEO were symptoms free compared to only 6.8& in the placebo group.

Additionally, all domains of IBS-QoL in the CU-FEO treatment group improved consistently.

In other words, CU-FEO only reduced abdominal pain but also all the other symptoms of IBS-SSS over 30 days.

Taken altogether, turmeric combined with other herbal remedies may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of irritable bowel disease, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of a supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#Healthyfood #Onion Processes a Significant Effects on Hyperlipidemia, According to Studies

By Kyle J. Norton

Hyperlipidemia or high blood cholesterol is a medical condition characterized by abnormally high levels of lipids in the blood.

Cholesterol produced by the liver plays an essential role in moderate amount in orchestrating the production of steroid hormone and vitamin D, building strong cell walls, and aiding the digestive system in absorbing nutrients and fluids.

There are 2 types of blood cholesterol
* The high-density lipoprotein also known as good cholesterol processes a function to return cholesterol to the liver.

* The low-density lipoprotein is also known as "bad" cholesterol processed a function aforementioned health benefits in moderate amounts.

In a healthy individual, unused cholesterol is returned to the liver. However, overexpression of "bad" cholesterol due to the consumption of a high-fat diet and reduced levels of "good" cholesterol can cause bad cholesterol to remain in the bloodstream, leading to hyperlipidemia.

The healthy ratio of total blood cholesterol ("bad"/ "good") is any number that are less than 4.

Patients with hyperlipidemia are asymptomatic. However, over time hyperlipidemia can cause plaque to accumulate on the arterial wall, which causes atherosclerosis, a leading cause of heart disease and stroke.

According to the statistics provided by the CDC, in 2015–2016, more than 12% of adults age 20 and older had total cholesterol higher than 240 mg/dL, and more than 18% had high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good”) cholesterol levels less than 40 mg/dL in the US.

Believe it or not, hyperlipidemia, a life-long condition is treatable. By a change of diet and daily moderate exercise, you may control the condition without medication.

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belonging to the family Alliaceae, a close relation of garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild or sweet.

With an aim to find a potential and natural compound for the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia, researchers examined the antihyperlipidemic and antioxidative potentials of onion (Allium cepa L.) extract fermented with a novel Lactobacillus casei HD-010.

Onion oral administration on ApoE-deficient mice, compared to bezafibrate (10 mg/kg, bw/day) as a positive control, showed a significant reduction of the levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride (TG), and cholesterol.

Also, compared to the positive control, onion group displayed increased levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL).

Furthermore, the levels of HMG-CoA reductase associated with the production of good cholesterol was increased by 20% in the fermented onion-treated group at 100 mg/kg.

Moreover, Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein (CETP) enzyme associated with moving cholesterol esters and triglycerides between VLDL, LDL, and HDL. LowerCETP levels promote HDL formation was inhibited by injection of onion compared to the control group.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "These results suggest that fermented onion has a preventive/therapeutic effect on the hyperlipidemic disease. It might have potential to be developed as a functional food".

In order to reveal more about the information about onion anti-hyperlipidemic activity, researchers evaluated the effects of raw red onion consumption on metabolic features in overweight and obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

The randomized controlled clinical trial included a total of 54) patients randomly allocated to the intervention group as 'high-onion' (raw red onions: 2 × 40-50 g/day if overweight and 2 × 50-60 g/day if obese) or to the control group as 'low-onion' (raw red onions: 2 × 10-15 g/day) along with limited liliaceous vegetables for 8 weeks.

According to the tested analysis, onion administration significantly decreased the levels of total cholesterol in the high-onion group compared to the low-onion group.

Particularly, levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased significantly in the high-onion group, compared to the low-onion group after treatment.

However, levels of triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and lipoprotein did not differ significantly after 8-week onion treatment.

These results strongly suggested that raw red onion consumption is effective in lower cholesterol in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Coffee and #CoffeeCaffeine Intake Daily and #Regularly Have a Profound Effect on #Depression, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Epidemiological studies do not agree that coffee and coffee caffeine has a positive effect on reduced depression, a review literature study suggested.

Coffee, second to green tea, is a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, made from roast beans from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

Depression is a normal neuro-response as part of our daily lives such as the loss of s job, the death of a loved one, and illness.
Over 30 million Americans suffer from depression and the amounts are increasing at an alarming rate.

According to the University of Naples Federico II, over 2 decades, many studies addressed the concerns of coffee intake may have an implication of incidence of depression, but several phytochemical studies indicated a different outcome as caffeine and certain major phytoconstituents exhibited antidepressant effects through multiple molecular mechanisms.

Dr. Tenore GC, the lead researcher said, "Coffee can be considered a drink which has different positive effects on human health such as cardioprotective, neuroprotective, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, etc. However, heavy coffee consumption may be related to some unpleasant symptoms, mainly anxiety, headache, increased blood pressure, nausea, and restlessness".

Contrastively, caffeine in coffee showed a strong inverse association in cases of postpartum depression and comorbid panic disorder.

Other researchers in the search for the efficacy of coffee and the risk of depression through the database from PubMed and PsychINFO insisted that although literature data are conflicting, caffeine found in coffee indicated a significantly reduced effect on symptoms of clinical depression.

Additionally, in a cross-sectional study of 10,177 Korean individuals aged 20-97 years the prevalence of self-reported depression of 14.0%, and that of self-reported clinical depression of 3.7%. participated in the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. to determine the effect of the consumption of coffee and the risk of depression, after adjusting to other factors, a returned survey from patients can be cataloged into the following

For general depression
1. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking less than one cup/week was 0.84
2. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking one to six cups/week was 0.63
3. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking for one cup/day was 0.69
4. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking for two cups/day was 0.54
5. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking for three or more cups/day was .58

For clinical depression, similar observations also have been recorded
1. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking less than one cup/week was 1.00
2. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking one to six cups/week was 0.51
3. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking for one cup/day was 0.57
4. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking for two cups/day was 0.57
5. The relative odds ratio of patients drinking for three or more cups/day was 0.41

The findings although not linearly, coffee and coffee caffeine intake expressed a protective effect in the ameliorated risk of depression.

Taking together, there is no doubt that coffee and coffee caffeine intake daily and regularly have a profound effect on depression but further cohost large sample-sized studies are necessary to find out other factors that may contribute to either outcome.

#Healthyfood #Turmeric's #Curcuminoids Process Anti #Pruritus Activities, Scientists Say

Kyle J. Norton

Pruritus is a skin condition associated with severe itching of the affected area, particularly in people with dry skin.
The syndrome has been found mostly in older adults due to aging-induced dehydration of the surface of the skin.

The most common symptoms of the affected areas are redness, bumps, spots or blisters, cracked skin leathery or scaly skin due to scratching.

Therefore by finding out the cause of the condition, pruritus can be treated successfully.

Some researchers suggested that people with psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive disorder may also trigger the onset of skin itching.

Dr. Hong Liang Tey, the lead scientist in the analysis of the correlation between psychosomatic factors in pruritus said, "Pruritus and psyche are intricately and reciprocally related, with psychophysiological evidence and psychopathological explanations helping us to understand their complex association".

And, "Their interaction may be conceptualized and classified into 3 groups: pruritic diseases with psychiatric sequelae, pruritic diseases aggravated by psychosocial factors, and psychiatric disorders causing pruritus".

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and for the treatment of flatulence, bloating, appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.

In finding a potential ingredient for the treatment of pruritus, researchers examined the anti-allergic effect of Curcuma aromatic's constituents curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin.

In subjects included pruritus by compound 48/80, curcuminoids inhibited the passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) reaction induced by the IgE-antigen complex (IAC) and the scratching behavior.

Where passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) is an animal model for Type I allergy.

Furthermore, curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin. also inhibited proteins associated with the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and IgE-antigen complex (IAC) induced RBL-2H3 cells.

In additional analysis of the efficacy of curcuminoids, researchers found that curcumin is the most potent compound followed by demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "Curcuminoids, particularly curcumin, can improve the symptoms of allergic diseases, such as anaphylaxis and itching".

Moreover, scientists in the evaluation of an ethanol extract of turmeric ("Curcuma longa") and an ointment of curcumin (its active ingredient) in symptomatic relief in patients with external cancerous lesions found that the application reduced the smell in 90% of the cases and itching in almost all cases.

Both ethanol extract of turmeric and ointment of curcumin also inhibited dry lesions in 70% of the cases, and reduced lesion size and pain in 10% of patients.

Taken altogether, turmeric processed with a high number of curcuminoids may be considered supplements for the treatment of pruritus,, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of a supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#Healthyfood #NavyBeans Reduce the Metabolic Risk Factors Associated with Obesity, Researchers Say

Kyle J. Norton

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of health problems including too much fat around the waist, elevated blood pressure, high triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, and low HDL cholesterol that increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.
More precisely,
*Too much fat around the waist is a condition found in people who eat too much carbohydrates and exercise too little, leading to the gain of weight around the waist.

* High blood pressure or hypertension

Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. High blood pressure means raising the pressure in your heart. If the condition stays high over time, it can damage the body in many ways.

High blood pressure can be preventable. Some researchers suggested if you can control your diet, make changes to your lifestyle, and maintain an ideal weight, you could do just fine without the drugs.

* High blood cholesterol or hyperlipidemia occurs when the excess cholesterol that use to build cell walls, make hormones and vitamin D, and create bile salts to help you digest fat cannot be returned to the liver caused by either over-expression of low-density lipoprotein (HLD) or low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HLD).

* High blood glucose or hyperglycemia found in diabetics occurs when the blood glucose level is too high caused by either insufficient levels of insulin produced by the body or the inability of the body to use insulin properly, leading to the rise of blood sugar.

* High blood triglycerides
Triglycerides stored in the fat cells are a result of the body that converts extra calories that don't need to use right away into triglycerides.

High blood triglyceride is a condition of over-expression of fat in the blood. The most common causes of high blood triglycerides are physically inactive, eating foods that are high in fat and sugar, processed food and red meat, and long-term excessive alcohol drinking.

Some medications such as medicines used for the treatment of breast cancer, high blood pressure, and HIV, may also raise blood triglycerides.

In other words, if you have 3 of the aforementioned conditions, your metabolic risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes is considered higher compared to those who do not.

The small, white navy bean, also called pea bean or haricot, popular in both dry and green forms, is very popular in Britain and the US, native to Peru. It is now grown and consumed across the world, due to its numerous health benefits.

In finding a potential compound for the treatment of metabolic syndrome, researchers determined the effect of commercially available ready-to-eat canned navy beans added to the habitual diet on risk factors associated with obesity.

The experiment included 14 overweight and obese adults who consumed 5 cups of canned navy beans per week for 4 weeks.

Based on the tested results,
* Bean consumption over the period reduced waist circumference in females by 2.5 cm and males by 2.1 cm (P < 0.001).

* The pulse rate, total cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) were also reduced but sex-dependent. More precisely, in males, pulse rate, TC, and LDL were decreased by 6.5%, 11.5%, and 18%, respectively. In females, the pulse rate increased by 9.6%, and TC and LDL were relatively unchanged.

These results strongly suggested that navy bean has a strong implication in decreasing the risk of metabolic syndrome in males compared to females.

* Furthermore, levels of glucose also showed a trend of decreasing in response to a glucose load.

After taking other factors into account, Dr. Luhovyy BL, the lead scientist said, "Consuming 5 cups per week of ready-to-eat canned navy beans for 4 weeks reduces metabolic risk factors associated with obesity and therefore can be used as a tool in dietetic practice".

Taken altogether, Navy beans used alone or combined with conventional medicine may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of metabolic risk, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Herbal #Bilberry Shows a Strong Effect on the Change of Metabolome Associated with the Onset of #Obesity, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Visceral fat is a layer of fat that surrounds the organs. Overexpression of visceral fat has been found to promote insulin resistance, diabetes, heart disease, and inflammation.

Visceral fat obesity is associated with 90% of patients with ischemic heart disease. In obese, accumulation of visceral fat is predominant in the intra-abdominal cavity.

However, in non-obese subjects, visceral fat accumulation is correlated with glucose intolerance, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension.

Obesity is a medical condition caused by excess body fat accumulated to an extent that impacts personal health. The hallmark of obesity is attenuated metabolism and structural cell changes in the obese fat observed by reducing metabolic activity.

According to the statistics provided by the National Center for Health Statistics (2015-2016), in the US, approximately 39.8% of adults aged 20 and over were obese accompanied by another 31.8% overweight.

Obesity rates have increased for all population groups in the US over the last several decades, coincidently with the periods in the promotion of the Western diet.

Dr. Maximilian Tremmel, the lead scientist in the investigation of the economic burden of obesity wrote, "The rising prevalence of obesity represents an important public health issue. An assessment of its costs may be useful in providing recommendations for policy and decision-makers" and "there was great variety in the included obesity-related diseases and complications among the studies".

And, "There is an urgent need for public health measures to prevent obesity in order to save societal resources. Moreover, international consensus is required on standardized methods to calculate the cost of obesity to improve homogeneity and comparability".

The findings strongly suggested that widespread obesity has caused significant pressure on the public health care system and impacted the financial and economic burden.

Bilberry is a species of low-growing shrub in the genus Vaccinium, belonging to the family Ericaceae, native to Northern Europe.

The plant has been used as a herb in traditional medicine for the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea, gastritis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, enterocolitis, ulcerative colitis, anemia, cystitis, kidney disease, psoriasis, diabetes, etc.

In the urgency to find a natural remedy for the treatment of obesity, researchers examined the effects of anthocyanin-rich phytochemicals found in Aronia fruits (aronia phytochemicals) and bilberry in high-fat-diet-induced dietary obese rats.

During the study, bilberry phytochemicals-supplemented rats showed a significant reduction of total visceral fat mass but in a lesser extent compared to aronia phytochemicals.

Similarly, perirenal and epididymal adipose tissue mass in rats fed aronia phytochemicals was by far greater than the bilberry phytochemicals group.

Bilberry lowered the mesenteric adipose tissue mass.

Bilberry also exerted the equivalently inhibited increases in plasma triglyceride levels, compared to that of aronia phytochemicals with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC(50)) of 1.50 mg/mL.

The results suggest that anthocyanin-rich phytochemicals in aronia fruits and bilberry may have a potency for the treatment of obesity through suppressing visceral fat accumulation and hyperglycemia.

In order to reveal more information about bilberry's anti-obesity properties, researchers evaluated a flavonoid-rich supplement (329 mg/d) on total urine phenolics and shifts in plasma metabolites in overweight/obese female adults.

Participants (N = 103, 18-65 y, BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2) included in the study were randomized to flavonoid (F) or placebo (P) groups for 12 weeks with blood and 24 h urine samples collected prestudy and after 4 and 12 weeks in a parallel design.

The supplement included vitamin C, wild bilberry fruit extract, green tea leaf extract, quercetin, caffeine, and omega-3 fatty acids.

According to the urinary assay, in the 4 weeks, urine total phenolics increased 24% in F versus P with similar changes at 12 weeks.

In of F demonstrated the shifts in 63 biochemicals compared to P with 70% from the lipid and xenobiotics super-pathways, according to the examination of metabolomics assay.

Where metabolite profile is reflective of metabolic processes, including pathophysiological changes characteristic of obesity-related complications.

The findings suggested that flavonoid-rich supplements may have a strong effect on the change of metabolome which is the sum of all the small-molecule chemicals found in a biological sample, often the blood plasma, and considered a measurement of obesity and health beyond BMI.

Taken altogether, bilberry used alone or combined with other agents may be considered functional remedies for the prevention and treatment of obesity, pending to the confirmation of a large sample size and multicenter human study.

#Yoga Reducs Symptoms Associated with the #MenstrualDisorder #Psychologically and #Physically, Clinical Trials Find

Yoga participation may have a substantial and sustainable effect in reduced symptoms and treatment of the menstrual disorder, some scientists postulated.
Menstrual disorder is a condition caused by psychological and physical problems affecting the normal menstrual cycle with symptoms of pain, heavy or light bleeding...

Yoga, the ancient technique for harmonizing external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known to people in the Western world and some parts of Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes research and supported by health advocates.

In the study of a total of 150 female patients with menstrual irregularities recruited from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, C.S.M. Medical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India and randomly divided into two groups: 1) group of 75 subjects (with yogic intervention) and 2) a control group of 75 subjects (without yogic intervention), after considering of other risk factors, researchers showed that yoga group experienced significantly lower anxiety and depression score in compared to control and at six months followed up, yoga group also demonstrated positive wellbeings with vitality improved significantly in compared to control

Dr. Rani K, the lead author said, "Patients with menstrual irregularities having psychological problems improved significantly in the areas of their well-being, anxiety, and depression by learning and applying a program based on Yogic intervention (Yoga Nidra)".

Although all women experience differently with regard to menstruation, depending on the severity of hormone imbalance, some women may experience low energy, extreme pain, mood swings, fatigue, bloating, irritability, and so on.

Indeed, yoga relaxation and meditation connected and harmonized the mental mind and physical body by bringing back the presence and dealing with them the positive ways or letting go of those unfavorable events, thus decreasing psychological and physical stress and improving general health.

In ameliorating stress implications on the mental mind, yoga practice restored the central nervous system in balancing hormone production which has been found to have a direct influence on control of each stage of the menstrual cycle.

The above differentiation is truly expressed in the study of the total number of 100 women recruited from the Department of obstetrics and Gynecology randomly allocated into two groups: a) intervention received yogic intervention and medication for 6 months, and b) the control group received no yogic intervention and they only received prescribed medication), researchers after taking into account of other co-founders suggested that yoga intervention expressed a substantial improvement mean score in the aspects of anxiety, depression, positive well-being, general health, and vitality scores, particularly in hormonal levels and there were significantly different in the intervention group as compared with pretest.

Dr. Khushbu Rani, the lead author said, "Yoga Nidra can be a successful therapy to overcome the psychiatric morbidity associated with menstrual irregularities".

In support of the efficacy of yoga intervention in improving the psychological effect on the risk of menstrual disorder, Dr. Khushbu Rani and colleagues conducted a study involving the same above yoga and control groups indicated that the yoga group displayed significant improvement in physical expressions, including pain symptoms, gastrointestinal symptoms, cardiovascular symptoms, and urogenital symptoms after 6 months of Yoga Nidra therapy in the Intervention group in comparison to the control group and yoga therapy are safe and less expensive in compared to standard treatment.

In physical expressions, yoga decreased menstrual pain through reduced overproduction of hormones with a strong implication in inducing uterus muscle constriction such as prostaglandins.

Through the relaxation of the central nervous system, yoga mindfulness also reduced the cardio symptoms such as a feeling of tightness, heaviness, numbness, burning, or pressure by increasing the vessel dilation and blood flow to the heart by inhibiting the hormone adrenaline in the production of norepinephrine and epinephrine caused by stress.

Yoga mindfulness connected and balanced the mind and body and also reduced the tension of the central nervous system through ameliorated stress by bringing back the natural reaction of the human body in providing more blood to the digestive system when needed, thus alleviating gastrointestinal symptoms, such as constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting,...

In urogenital symptoms, yoga reduced levels of cortisol induced by stress in modulated concentration and secretion of testosterone, which plays an important role in immune function in reduced risk of inflammation and elevation of plasma levels of adrenalin also induced by stress in suppressing the immune system and increased levels of serotonin in the decreased killing ability of natural killer (NK) cells.

Taking all together, Yoga therapy may be used as an adjunct to conventional drug therapy for menstrual dysfunction.
