#Yoga in Improved Psychological and Physiological Symptoms in Patients with #Arthritis, Researchers Suggest

By Kyle J. Norton

Yoga may be used as an integrated form of exercise used in conjunction with standard therapy for reduced symptoms and treatment of arthritis, the University of Cincinnati study suggested.

Arthritis, one of the Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) degenerative disease, is a general term of joint inflammation, affecting over 21% of the US population.

Yoga, the ancient technique practice for harmonizing external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known to people in the Western world and some parts of Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

Researchers at the Nursing Department, Bethesda, in the study of minor population and risk of arthritis assigned each individual to an 8-week program of yoga classes, based on collecting patient-reported outcome measures related to spiritual growth, health responsibility, interpersonal relations, and stress management suggested that

* Minor population expressed that attending yoga classes designed for patients with arthritis, with racially concordant instructors may be the best acceptable use of yoga as an adjunct to standard arthritis treatment.
* Patients also stress that yoga may improve physical and mental well-being.
* Yoga participants may also experience a positive change in physical function, anxiety/depression, fatigue, sleep disturbance, social roles, and pain.

Dr. Middleton KR, the lead author said, "Adopting behaviors that improve well-being and quality of life include those that integrate mental health (mind) and physical health (body). Few studies have examined offering integrative modalities to this population".

Truly, yoga slow breathing, and meditation calm the central nervous system in response to stress implication in the production of stress hormones to stimulate the expression of inflammatory cytokine in precipitated symptoms of arthritis such as pain, and swelling, thus alleviating physical symptoms in all aspects.

Psychologically, relaxing the nervous system during stress also ameliorated hormone imbalanced in the overproduction of stress hormones, such as cortisol,... sex hormones, such as estrogen and testosterone, and thyroid hormone in the induction of anxiety and depression as well as improved production of hormone melatonin made by the pineal gland in control awake and sleep.

Some researchers suggested that the above indications can be achieved by certain yoga postures practice as they can stimulate different parts of your body, organs, chakras, and the endocrine system in controlling the production of hormones and functioning.

Furthermore, yoga mindfulness also reconnected and rebalanced the mind and body, by bringing back the presence while letting, such stress or dealing with them in profound and positive ways, leading to actively engaging in healthy living and healthy lifestyle and eating and participating in social activity.

These results showed that yoga intervention has a strong impact on alleviating both psychological and physical aspects of patients with arthritis.

The above differentiation was supported by a study conducted by the University of Cincinnati, in the review literature between 2010 to June 2013 to examine whether yoga can be an efficacious approach for managing arthritis from Medline, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health, and Alt HealthWatch databases.

According to the findings of 9 studies satisfied the criteria, researchers found that
* 6 studies demonstrated the efficacy of yoga in reducing both psychological and physiological symptoms related to arthritis.

* After adjusting other factors such as sample sizes, nonstandardized yoga intervention, not using behavioral theory, and having varying lengths, yoga may be used as a form of exercise in treating modality for arthritis.

And, the study in the review of peer-reviewed research from clinical trials (published from 1980 to 2010), used yoga as an intervention for arthritis and reported quantitative findings by the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

According to 11 studies selected, scientists indicated that
* Most studies provided some extended evidence in ameliorated disease symptoms, including (tender/swollen joints, pain) and disability, and improved self-efficacy and mental health
* Yoga was comparable to or better than that typical for exercise interventions
* After adjusting to other factors, interventions, research methods, and disease diagnoses, no adverse effects have been recorded

Taking all together, Yoga lessons may be the best form of integrated and safe exercise for attenuated symptoms of patients with arthritis.

#Onionpeel Hydroalcoholic #Extract (#OPE) , the Natural Vasorelaxant That Inhibits Hyperttension in Vivos, Researchers Suggest

By Kyle J. Norton

Vasorelaxant is a term that refers to the reduction of vascular tension.
Vascular disease is a disease associated with an abnormal condition of the blood vessels, affecting the blood flow to the body.

There are many types of vascular disease associated with vascular constriction, including stroke, peripheral artery disease (PAD), a disease caused by reduced blood flow to the limbs, abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), carotid artery disease (CAD), arteriovenous malformation (AVM), pulmonary embolism (blood clots) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

According to the statistics, approximately 8.5 million people in the US are living with Peripheral artery disease (PAD), one of the most common types of vascular disease.

There are no single causes of vascular disease. However, diabetes, hyperlipidemia (high levels of fats in the blood, such as cholesterol and triglycerides), smoking, high blood pressure, obesity, and physical inactivity are some of the most prevalent factors found in patients with the condition.

Some researchers suggested that the rise of aging patients with vascular disease may be correlated to the promotion of high-fat diets over the past few decades in inducing a large population with obesity and Type II diabetes in the US.

Dr. Morteza Mowlaie, the lead scientist wrote, " Significant positive association between left ventricular hypertrophy and plaque score and also a significant positive association between left ventricular hypertrophy with the presence of chest pain was found (p<0.05)"

And, "Association of diabetes mellitus with the presence of chest pain was positive. A positive correlation between hypertension with plaque score was demonstrated too (p<0.05). Also, an inverse association of plaque score with left ventricular ejection fraction was detected too (p<0.05)".

In other words, patients with diabetes are associated with vascular disease, that induces similar symptoms of atherosclerosis such as left ventricular hypertrophy, chest pain, and hypertension in plaque score

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belonging to the family Alliaceae, a close relation to garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild, or sweet.

In finding a potent ingredient that processes cardioprotection researchers examined the investigate the effect of onion (Allium cepa) peel hydroalcoholic extract (OPE) on rat hypertension induced by a high-fructose diet and aorta contractility.

Three groups of rats were given fructose (10% WN/V) in drinking water for 6 weeks but the control group received tap water and the hypertensive groups received saline or OPE at 200, 400, and 800 mg kg(-1) daily for the last 3 weeks by gavage.

OPE reduces aorta contractions induced by KCl or Phe in a concentration-dependent manner through its vasorelaxant effects.

L-NAME (100 microM), methylene blue (10 microM), and indomethacin (10 microM) Inhibited nitric oxide, cGMP, and prostaglandin synthesis associated with a decrease of vasodilation also inhibited by the administration of OPE.

Furthermore, OPE did not change heart rate but reduced hypertension induced by fructose after 3 weeks of the experimental period.

The efficacy of OPE vasorelaxant activity was attributed to the inhibition of hypertension by extracting quercetin content, antioxidant activity, and inhibiting vascular smooth muscle cells' Ca2+ influx associated with the change of vascular diameter.

Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the promotion of vasorelaxant activity, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Yoga Intervention Improves All Marameters Associated with the Quality of Life of #HeartFailure Patients, Researchers Show

By Kyle J. Norton

Yoga may be considered as an integrated form of exercise in improved cardiovascular endurance, inflammatory expression, flexibility, and quality of life of heart failure patients, some scientists postulated.

Heart failure is a medical condition characterized by insufficient to maintain blood flow to meet the body's needs, inducing symptoms of shortness of breath, excessive tiredness, and leg swelling.....

Yoga, the ancient technique practice for harmonizing external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known to people in the Western world and some parts of Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.

In a study of 130 heart failure patients recruited, 65 patients were randomly selected to receive 12-week yoga therapy along with standard medical therapy (yoga group). Other patients (n=65) received only standard medical therapy (control group), and researchers showed that
* Yoga group expressed an enormous improvement in a decrease in heart rate, blood pressure, and rate pressure product (RPP) compared to the control group
* All heart rate ratios and variability were improved compared to the control

Dr. Krishna BH, the lead author said, "Twelve-week yoga therapy significantly improved the parasympathetic activity and decreased the sympathetic activity in heart failure patients."

Truly, yoga mindfulness-induced relaxation of the central nervous system inhibited the production of stress hormones in facilitating the production of inflammatory makers through interaction between the immune cells-particularly macrophages and lymphocytes, one of a number of markers involved in heart failure disease progression.

Chronic psychological stress is found to have a strong negative influence on heart failure patients as a result of losing the ability to regulate the inflammatory response.

Also, yoga's slow breathing and meditation-induced relaxation of the central nervous system in stimulated the production of nitric oxide NO through the expression of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in relaxed the vessel muscles and heart muscles in regulation dilation and reduced stress hormone in the overproduction of prostaglandins E2 in activated muscle constriction, plus improving in heart rate, blood pressure and rate pressure product (RPP).

Furthermore, yoga-selected postures were found not only to improve flexibility but also enhance the functioning lung in optimized oxygen demand of the heart through a circulatory system controlled by homeostatic mechanisms without inducing work overload to the heart, thus increasing peak exercise capacity (peakVO2) in patients with heart failure.

These results suggested that yoga intervention exerted a significant effect on improved cardiovascular endurance in all aspects.

Moreover, yoga mindfulness reconnected and re-balanced the mind and body by bringing back the presence while dealing with a profound and effective way that leads to actively engaging in a healthy diet and change of lifestyle in participating improvement in functional capacity.

These findings suggested that yoga, as an integrated exercise, has a direct impact on enhancing health and quality of life in patients with heart failure.

The result above was supported by the randomized controlled trials, in the review of the literature published on MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Excerpta Medica database, LILACS, Physiotherapy Evidence Database, together with the Scientific Electronic Library Online, and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health up to December 2013.

According to the study, compared to the control, researchers indicated that
* Yoga group displayed a significant and positive impact on peak exercise capacity (peakVO2) and quality-of-life (HRQOL)
*Yoga participants also showed an improvement in Weighted mean differences (WMD) (some of the studies make a greater contribution to the average than others and global HRQOL standardized mean differences).
In clarification of the efficacy in treatment for CHF, Dr. Gomes-Neto M, the lead author said, "Yoga enhances peak VO2 and HRQOL in patients with CHF and could be considered for inclusion in cardiac rehabilitation programs".

And, the study of 40 patients (38 AA, 1 Asian, and 1 Caucasian) with systolic or diastolic HF randomized to the yoga group (YG, n = 21) or the control group (CG, n = 19) with all patients followed a home walk program, suggested that yoga group demonstrated a significant improvement of all tested aspects, such as for flexibility (P = 0.012), treadmill time (P = 0.002), VO2peak (P = 0.003), and the biomarkers (IL-6, P = 0.004; CRP, P = 0.016; and EC-SOD, P = 0.012) compared to control

Taking all together, Yoga therapy may offer additional benefits to the standard medical care of patients with HF by improving cardiovascular endurance, inflammatory markers, flexibility and quality of life.

#GreenTea's #GT Fractions and #EGCG Exert Protective Effects Against #Liver Damage and Injuries, Researchers Say

By Kyle J. Norton

Liver disease is a reduced function in toxin elimination of the liver as a result of damage or injury caused by medication, or viral infection,...

Green tea, a precious drink processes a number of health benefits known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine, or food, long-term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, inducing "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weakened immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.

According to the joint study lead by the Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University Guangzhou, in the review of the database of PubMed, CNKI, Wanfang, and Weipu databases, regular green tea drinking is associated with a significant reduction in the risk of liver disease, including hepatocellular carcinoma, liver steatosis, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and chronic liver disease.

Also, Green tea demonstrated a reduced risk of liver disease regardless of the race and geography of the patients resided such as Asian, American and European subgroups.

Unfortunately, in a mouse model, different doses of GT fractions and EGCG and a single dose of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) combined with EGCG, administered for 5 days to mice suggested that mice fed with combining a single high dose of EGCG with a single dose of LPS showed to induce liver injury.

Repeat injection of EGCG in the group was also found to associate with mild liver injury, which probably was attributed to the adverse effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), the study insisted.

Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) is one of the major and powerful antioxidants of green tea found to be the most effective cancer chemopreventive polyphenol in many studies posted in the medical literature. However, the single ingredients extract has also been found to induce hepatotoxicity and acute liver dysfunction in many occasions due to overdoses and long term usages.

Additionally, the Baylor College of Medicine and Dalhousie University, Halifax reported, "(There is) a case of acute impending liver failure in an adolescent male using a weight-loss product containing green tea extract" and "acute liver toxicity observed in individuals consuming supplements containing green tea extract".

Taking all together, the conflict result of green tea in liver disease may be a result of study design, group selection, sample size, doses intake,........People with liver disease should talk to a specialist of herbal products before consuming.

#Phytochemical #Betacyanins Inhibit Enzymes Associated with the Risk of #Cancers In Vitros, Researchers Find

By Kyle J. Norton

Cancer is a class of chronic diseases caused by cell growth and multiplies disorderedly and uncontrollably in the body. Depending on the type and grade of cancer, some cancers can be progressively worse and damage other healthy tissues. Sometimes cancers can spread to other tissues and organs in the body via lymph or blood.

Under normal circumstance, cell growth is a natural process. Every day millions of cells grow to replace millions of dead cells and to keep our body in balance and healthy.

Sometimes, acceleration of cell growth is necessary to prevent further damage to the body organ, such as cuts, injuries, etc., but after fulfilling their purposes, the growth of cells is back to a normal rate again.

In other words, cell growth or cell division limit to a number of cycles due to our body growth inhibitors, before replacing by new cells.

In cancer cells, the cycle of cell growth can be indefinite.

Depending on the type of cells that initiates cancer, cancers can be classified into

* Carcinoma
Carcinoma is a malignant tumor found in anywhere of the epithelial tissues lining the cavities, surfaces of structures, and glands. Although the formation of the malignant tumor in the epithelium is still unknown, it possesses and associates the characteristics of epithelial cells, including those of the breast, prostate, lung, and colon.

* Sarcoma
Sarcoma is a type of cancer that arises from malignantly connective tissue cells originating from embryonic germ cells or bone, cartilage, and fat tissues and cells.

* Lymphoma and leukemia:
Hematopoietic cells are multipotent stem cells that give rise to all types of blood cell, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets that become cancerous.

* Germ cell tumor
Cancer is derived from pluripotent cells. In adults, these are most often found in the testicle and ovary but are more common in babies and young children.

* Blastoma
Cancer is derived from immature "precursor" or embryonic tissue. These are also commonest in children.

According to the statistics provided by the National Cancer Institute, approximately 38.4% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes. In 2017, an estimated 15,270 children and adolescents ages 0 to 19 were diagnosed with cancer, and 1,790 died of the disease.

Betacyanins are phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.

With an aim to find a potential and natural compound for the treatment of cancer with no side effects, researchers examined the soluble natural food colors betacyanins and anthocyanins isolated from Beta vulgaris.

Based on the results of these natural pigments, alone and in combination, evaluated for their relative potencies using MCF-7 (breast), HCT-116 (colon), AGS (stomach), CNS (central nervous system), and NCI-H460 (lung) tumor cell lines, betacyanins and anthocyanins showed a significant effects in the inhibition of enzyme COX-2 associated with the promotion of tumor growth and suppression of tumor apoptosis.

Furthermore, the COX-1 associated with the promotion of overexpression of the enzyme in prostaglandin biosynthesis in tumor onset and progression is also inhibited by the administration of betacyanins and anthocyanins.

Moreover, betacyanins showed a dose-dependent growth inhibition against breast, colon, stomach, central nervous system, and lung tumor cells.

Interestingly, in the chemical analysis, researchers found that the combination exerted synergistic effects, and chemical interactions at various concentrations against tested cancer cell lines.
Finally, Only the mixture of anthocyanin and betanin negated their efficacy in the cell growth inhibitory assay and did not enhance the COX enzyme inhibitory activity.

Based on the findings, researchers wrote, "This is the first report of a comparative evaluation and the impact on biological activities of these pigments alone and in combination".

Taken altogether, betacyanins used alone or combined with other herbal remedies may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of cancer, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of betacyanins in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#Cucumber Improves Digestive Functioning by Protecting the Gut Microbiome Composition Integrity, Researchers Say

By Kyle J. Norton

The gut microbiome made up of trillions of microorganisms is the bacterial composition found in the gut of the digestive tract.

In a healthy individual, the ratio of the bacterial composition is balanced. In other words, the bad bacteria in the digestive tract is totally countered by the presence of the good bacterias.

However, the imbalanced ratio of the gut microbiota composition has been associated with chronic diseases ranging from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), obesity, and allergic disorders, in both human and animal models.

Believe it or not, gut microbes have been found to influence many aspects of human health including immune, metabolic, and neurobehavioural traits.

In immunity, the balance of the gut microbes showed to stimulate the immune function against inflammatory immune disorders.

Digestively, balanced gut microbes protect the gut against gastrointestinal diseases and non-gastrointestinal diseases.caused by overexpression of bad bacteria.

In metabolism, gut microbes influence what the human host is able to extract from its diet, such as nutrients, thus reducing the risk of obesity and obesity complications.

Neurologically, gut microbiota can control brain insulin signaling and metabolite levels that are critical in neurobehaviors.

Some researchers suggested, there are huge benefits that influence the function of the brain, immunity, heart, and the digestive system and reduce the risk of chronic diseases and conditions such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome by maintaining the good ratio of the gut microbiome.

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongings to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

With an aim to discover a natural ingredient for balancing the ratio of microbiota composition, researchers investigated and evaluated cucumber phytochemical compositions along with their potential gut microbiota modulating, free radical scavenging, and anti-inflammatory capacities.

Seed flour extracts from cucumber enhanced the total number of gut bacteria by altering the abundance of specific bacterial phylum or genius in vitro.

In other words, cucumbers improved digestive functioning by enhancing the ratio of microbiota compositions in the gut.

Compared to broccoli and carrot seed flour extracts, cucumber seed extract showed the most negligible effect in DPPH radical scavenging capacity, oxygen radical absorbing capacity, and hydroxyl radical (HO•) scavenging capacity values of 85, 634, and 270 μmol Trolox equivalent (TE)/g.

In the tested J774A.1 cells, cucumber suppressed the LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

The results strongly suggested that the administration of Cucumis prevented colonic inflammation and improved the digestive functioning by changing the gut microbiota composition.

In order to reveal more information of cumber in the improvement of gut microbiota, composition researchers examined Cucumis melo L. (Cucumis) on obesity-induced IR in genetically leptin-deficient Lepob/Lepob mice.

According to the tested assays, Cucumis improved IR and relieved inflammation in adipose tissue and blood that lead to the balance of the ratio of microbiota composition.

Dr. Lee D, the lead scientist after taking into account co and confounders wrote, "administration of Cucumis improved IR by reducing inflammation, thereby changing the gut microbiota composition".

Taken altogether, fermented cucumber may be used for the treatment of digestive dysfunction by improving the ratio of gut microbiota composition, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Yoga Intervention Inhibits the Parameters Associated with Early Onset of #HeartDisease, Scientists Show

By Kyle J. Norton

Yoga intervention may be the new way to improve overall conditions in the prevented onset of heart disease, some researchers suggested.

Heart diseases are a class of diseases characterized by a wide range of conditions, such as coronary artery disease; heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias); and heart defects......

The term heart disease is used interchangeably with cardiovascular diseases in expressed conditions that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina), or stroke, involving narrowed or blocked blood vessels,

According to statistics, in the US, heart disease is a leading cause of death in women and men. Approximately, 600,000 Americans die from heart disease every year, representing 1 in every 4 deaths. And coronary heart disease(CHD) is the most common type of heart disease, which kills over 300,000 people in 2015.

Heart disease is caused by a process of plaques building up on the arterial wall, leading to hardening and narrowing of the arteries resulting in harder for blood to flow through. If a blood clot forms, it can stop the blood flow. and cause heart diseases.

Today researchers do not know why some people are susceptible to plaques forming on the arteries, while others with the same condition and similar diet patterns and lifestyles do not.

Depending on the location where clots were formed, symptoms of heart disease can be classified as follows
* Symptoms caused by abnormal heartbeats (heart arrhythmias) include slow heartbeat (bradycardia) chest pain or discomfort, shortness of breath, lightheadedness,... and dizziness.

* Symptoms caused by heart defects include light gray or blue skin color, swelling in the legs, and abdomen,..... and swelling areas around the eyes.

* Symptoms caused by weak heart muscle include swelling of the legs, ankles, and feet, irregular heartbeats,... and dizziness, and fainting.

* Symptoms caused by heart infections include shortness of breath, fatigue,.... and swelling in your legs or abdomen.

* Symptoms caused by valvular heart disease include fatigue, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat,.... and swelling on the feet or ankles.

Heart diseases which are diagnosed early are easy to treat, some researchers suggested that if you experience prolonged chain pain, shortness of breath, and frequent fainting, you may have heart disease, please make sure you check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.

Yoga, the ancient practice for harmonized external and internal body well-being, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been well-known to people in the Western world and some parts of Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes and research and supported by health advocates.

The reviewed literature extracted from Medline/PubMed, Scopus, the Cochrane Library, and IndMED up to October 2013, it evaluated the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendation for yoga as an ancillary intervention for heart disease. 7 Seven RCTs met the criteria selected with a total of 624 patients participating in yoga class showed
* Yoga therapy reduced the number of angina episodes.

* There was low evidence suggesting that yoga reduced modifiable cardiac risk factors, heart failure, and improved health-related quality of life.

* Yoga intervention group also showed insignificant effects on patients with nonfatal device-treated ventricular events

Dr. Cramer H, the lead author said, "RCTs reported safety data and reported that no adverse events occurred" and " ..... weak recommendations can be made for the ancillary use of yoga for patients with coronary heart disease".

Truly, yoga's slow breathing enhances arterial muscle to relax and posture improves blood flow in the arteries in providing nutrients and oxygen to the body's needs, thus reducing the risk of narrowing arteries in the induction of blood clots.

Furthermore, by normalizing the blood flow in the arteries, yoga also reduces the risk of symptoms that cause a diminishing quality of life in people with a high risk of heart disease
Additionally, in the analysis of some publications, researchers at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital showed that
* Some randomized studies expressed favorably that yoga may be effective in both early and advanced coronary atherosclerosis.

* Yoga participants also showed improved atrial fibrillation.

However, in a review of the updated publication by searching the broad database from Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) in The Cochrane Library (Issue 1 of 12, 2014), MEDLINE (1948 to February week 1 2014), EMBASE (1980 to 2014 week 6), Web of Science (Thomson Reuters, 1970 to 12 February 2014), China Journal Net (1994 to May 2014), WanFang Data (1990 to May 2014), and Index to Chinese Periodicals of Hong Kong (HKInChiP) (from 1980) up to 2012. to examine the influence of yoga practice on CHD outcomes in men and women (aged 18 years and over) with a diagnosis of acute or chronic CHD, researchers indicated that there were no studies that met the guideline and criteria, therefore, recommended use of yoga for secondary prevention in CHD remains uncertain.

n that concerns of the yoga efficacy, Dr. Manchanda SC, the led author said, "Most studies have several limitations like lack of adequate controls, small sample size, inconsistencies in baseline and different methodologies,.." and "therefore large trials with improved methodologies are required to confirm these findings".

Taking all together, yoga may have some evidence in reduced risk and treatment of heart disease, but a cohost and large sample size of the study is necessary before yoga intervention is recommended as a secondary therapy.
