#Healthyfood #ManukaHoney Processes a Treatment for Severe Atopic Contact Dermatitis Eczematous Reaction, Researchers Reveal

By Kyle J. Norton

In seeking natural therapy with no side effects, scientists may have found a herbal remedy for the prevention and treatment of atopic dermatitis, according to studies.
Atopic dermatitis or eczema is an inflammatory condition associated with red and itchy skin.

Most cases of atopic dermatitis are found in children. However, adults may also get it too. Skin irritation is found more often in children compared to adults.

The causes of atopic dermatitis are unknown. Some researchers suggested that certain risk factors such as genetic preposition and abnormal function of the immune system and environmental conditions may be involved in the development of the disease.

Epidemiological studies suggested that most patients with chronic atopic dermatitis also have asthma and hay fever, particularly in allergies.

Some researchers suggested that atopic dermatitis is more common in people who live in the air pollution city.

Dr. Ahn K in the study of the role of air pollutants in atopic dermatitis, wrote, " Both indoor and outdoor air pollution, which are of increasing concern with urbanization, are well-known environmental risk factors for asthma, whereas there is relatively little evidence in AD".

And, " epidemiologic and experimental data on the role of air pollution in patients with AD. Recent evidence suggests that a variety of air pollutants, such as environmental tobacco smoke, volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, toluene, nitrogen dioxide, and particulate matter, act as risk factors for the development or aggravation of AD. These air pollutants probably induce oxidative stress in the skin, leading to skin barrier dysfunction or immune dysregulation".

The results clearly suggested the risk of atopic dermatitis increases with air pollutants.

Honey, the rich golden liquid is a miraculous product made by bees using nectar from flowers.

The liquid is considered one of the healthy sweet food for replacing the use of white sugar and artificial sweetener by many people.

Researchers in the course to find a natural ingredient for the treatment of dermatitis examined the Manuka honey anti-skin conditions and dermal injuries.

Injection of Manuka honey showed a significant potency in the treatment of a severe atopic contact dermatitis eczematous reaction with no side effects.

Furthermore, adult volunteers with bilateral atopic dermatitis (AD) were asked to apply MH on one site overnight for seven consecutive days and leave the contralateral site as untreated as possible.

There are no significant changes in the skin staphylococci observed after day 7, irrespective of honey treatment.

However, MH treatment showed significant inhibition of proinflammatory cytokines in a dose-dependent manner.

The application of MK also inhibited mast cell degranulation against the onset of atopic dermatitis (AD).

Dr. Alangari AA, the lead scientist said in the final report, "MH is potentially effective in the treatment of AD lesions based on both clinical and cellular studies through different mechanisms".

Taken altogether, Manuka honey may be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD) with no side effects, pending the confirmation of a larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of #Betacarotene and #Lycopene Daily Are Associated with Reduced Risk of #LungCancer, Researchers Find

By Kyle J. Norton

The lung is one of the vital organs in humans located near the backbone on either side of the heart with functions of inhaling oxygen from the air then transporting them to the bloodstream to nourish the body cells' needs and exhaling carbon dioxide from the bloodstream.
Lung cancer is a chronic medical condition characterized by abnormal growth of the cells in the lung's tissue.

The most common form of primary lung cancer is derived from epithelial cells.

The exact cause of lung cancer is not identified. However, epidemiologically, smoking, second smoke, exposure to certain chemicals, family history, people who have lung disease, and excessive drinking are some prevalent factors associated with lung cancer developing.

According to the statistics provided by the American cancer society, Lung cancer accounts for 14% of all new cancers diagnosed in the US. In 2018, there were about 234,030 new cases of lung cancer (121,680 in men and 112,350 in women). Lung cancer also causes the death of 83,550 men and 70,500 in women in the same year.

Lung cancer can be classified into 2 major types
* Non-small cell lung cancer
Non-small cell lung cancer is the most common type of lung cancer that usually grows and spreads methodically and predictably. The most common types of Non-small cell lung cancer lung cancers include
**Squamous-cell carcinoma often is found in an outer area of the lung.

** Large-cell carcinoma is found in the center of the lung by an air tube.

** Adenocarcinoma is found in any part of the lung.

* Small cell lung cancer
Small cell lung cancer is a fast-growing type of lung cancer, that can spread to distant parts of the body in a relatively early stage. The most common types of small cell lung cancer include
* Small cell carcinoma is small, round and resemble oats.

*Mixed small cell/large cell carcinoma is found in combining components of small cell lung carcinoma with large cell lung carcinoma.

*Combined small cell carcinoma is found in combining a component of small cell lung carcinoma with components of non-small cell lung carcinoma.

Carotenoids is a class of mainly yellow, orange, or red fat-soluble pigments, including lycopene and carotene, found abundantly in ripe tomato, pumpkins, carrots, corn, and daffodils.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of lung cancer, researchers to compare the dietary intake and serum levels of some selected carotenoids of lung cancer patients with healthy subjects.

The case-control study included 35 lung cancer patients and 33 healthy people with a daily intake of nutrients estimated by using a semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire and a 3-day 24-h food recall questionnaire.

According to the tested analysis,
* The beta-carotene and lycopene intake of the case subjects was 96% and 195% higher in the lung participants compared to those of control.
* Daily intake of fruits and vegetables in the cancer group was higher compared to the control group.

However, the serum concentration of beta-carotene and lycopene were 118% and 60% higher in the control group compared to the lung cancer group.

These results suggested that there must be some unknown mechanisms associated with the reduced levels of beta-carotene and lycopene in the blood of lung cancer patients.

In other words, the intake of beta-carotene and lycopene daily reduces the risk of lung cancer in healthy individuals.

Dr. Asbaghi S, the lead scientist after taking other factors such as age, gender, smoking habits, weight, body mass index, mean daily energy intake and mean daily fat intake into account wrote, "Despite a higher daily dietary intake of beta-carotene and lycopene by lung cancer patients, serum beta-carotene and lycopene concentrations were significantly lower than the group without cancer".

Taken altogether, carotenoids processed abundantly beta-carotene and lycopene may be considered a remedy for the prevention of lung cancer, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of carotenoids in supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#Antioxidant Curcumins Found in #Turmeric Reverte Cardiomyocyte Damage In the Prevention of Cardiomyopathy and Heart Failure, Scientists Say

By Kyle J. Norton

Scientists may have found a kitchen bioactive compound that processes cardio-protective properties, according to studies.
Cardioprotection is an action that contributes to the protection of heart integrity against damage or injury.

In other words, cardioprotection is a process in which substances or medicines are used including an herbal remedy to protect heart muscle tissues against ischemic insult and deoxygenation injury.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are a class of conditions associated with the dysfunction of the arteries and heart.

Coronary artery disease caused by narrowing of the arteries, heart attack, abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias, and stroke are the most common types of cardiovascular diseases found in the Western world.

The most common symptoms of CVD include persistent fatigue, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, and fainting.

If you have some of the symptoms mentioned earlier, please make sure that you check with your doctor to rule out the CVD possibility.

The exact causes of cardiovascular diseases are unidentified. However, according to epidemiological studies, the most prevalent factors include aging and smoking. lack of exercise. unhealthy diet. obesity. high blood pressure and cholesterol, and family history.

Out of many risk factors, an unhealthy lifestyle is one of the major risk factors that cause the onset of CVD, some researchers suggested.

Dr. Haskell WL in the investigation of cardiovascular disease prevention and lifestyle interventions
said, "While heredity can be a major factor for some people, their personal health habits and environmental/cultural exposure are more important factors".

And, "Not smoking, being physically active, eating a heart-healthy diet, staying reasonably lean, and avoiding major stress and depression are the major components of an effective CVD prevention program. For people at high risk of CVD, medications frequently need to be added to a healthy lifestyle to minimize their risk of a heart attack or stroke, particularly in persons with conditions such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, or hyperglycemia. Maintaining an effective CVD prevention program in technologically advanced societies cannot be achieved by many high-risk persons without effective and sustained support from a well-organized health care system".

The results strongly suggested by lifestyle change has a strong implication in the prevention of CVD.

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, and wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.
With an aim to find a potent compound that processes cardioprotective effects, researchers investigated the cardioprotective effect of curcumin in NE-induced cardiac apoptosis according to the tested assays, curcumin protected the cardiomyocytes against apoptosis significantly.

Furthermore, the injection of curcumin also reverted cardiomyocyte damage back to the normal physiological state.

In other words, curcumin protected the integrity of heart muscle cells against Norepinephrine (NE) in the induction of the onset of cardiomyopathy and heart failure.

Dr. Manghani C, the lead scientist said, "Curcumin has the potential to act as a therapeutic agent for the attenuation of NE-induced cardiac cell death and modulation of apoptosis in H9c2 cardiomyocytes".

Taken altogether, turmeric may be considered a cardioprotective supplement for preventing and treating cardiovascular disease, pending confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric as a supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Low Levels of #Lycopene Increase the Risk of #CoronaryArteryDisease (#CAD) and #Stroke in Men, Researchers Say

By Kyle J. Norton

Coronary artery disease (CAD)is a medical condition caused by the damage of major blood vessels that supply the heart with blood, oxygen, and nutrients (coronary).

Acute coronary syndrome is a medical emergency caused by suddenly reduced blood flow to the heart, leading to heart muscle damage and brain apoptosis, depending on the affected location.

Acute coronary syndrome is associated with the severity of the buildup of plaque deposits on the walls of the coronary arteries.

Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood.

Arteries formed a part of blood vessels and the the circulatory system with function to deliver oxygen and nutrients to heart muscles.

Most cases of coronary artery disease onset are associated with inflammation of cholesterol-containing plaques in the arteries.

According to the statistics, approximately 1 of every 13 Americans aged 18 years and older are living with coronary artery disease. CAD is a leading cause of death in the ethnic group in the US, particularly in Hispanic Americans.

Believe it or not, CAD is predicted by scientists to become the most common cause of death worldwide by 2020.

Although CAD is a lowly progressive disease, the disease may become clinically apparent by age 40. People 65 years of age and older have been found in most patients with CAD.

Depending on the severity of the blockage, a complete blockage is life-threatening. Symptoms of coronary artery disease, chest pain or discomfort, pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the jaw, neck, back or stomach, shortness of breath, dizziness, and nausea.

If the chest pain is persistent with no sign of stopping, please call 911 immediately.

Lycopene is a phytochemical found in tomato in the class of carotenoid, a natural pigment with no vitamin A activity found abundantly in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables, such as red carrots, watermelons, and papayas,

Tomatoes provide about 80% of the lycopene in the world diet. In plants, lycopene protects the host against excessive photodamage and perform various functions in photosynthesis.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), researchers examined the role of lycopene on acute coronary events and stroke in the prospective Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor (KIHD) Study that included 725 middle-aged men free of coronary heart disease and stroke.

According to the tested analysis, men with the lowest quartile of serum levels of lycopene had a 3.3-fold (P < 0.001) risk of the acute coronary event or stroke as compared with others.

Also in men, low plasma levels of lycopene were associated with an 18% increase of intima-media thickness (IMT) associated with plaque accumulation compared to men with higher plasma levels of lycopene.

However, In women, there was no significantly different after the adjustments.

The results strongly suggested that the circulating levels of lycopene strongly affect the risk of cardiovascular disease in Finland, at least in men.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "circulating levels of lycopene, a biomarker of tomato-rich food, may play a role in early stages of atherogenesis and may have clinical and public health relevance".

Taken altogether, lycopene found in tomatoes may be considered supplement for the prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of lycopene in the form of a supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

High Amount of #CoffeeCaffeine Intake Daily May Increase the Risk of Headaches, Palpitations, Tremors, and Insomnia, Reserachers Say

By Kyle J. Norton

Too much coffee caffeine may have a profound and negative effect on the increased risk of a headache.
Coffee, second to green tea, is a popular and social beverage worldwide, particularly in the West, made from roasted beans from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

According to the Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht, in the diagnosis of three men aged 33, 35, and 26 years, respectively, and two women aged 67 and 44 years, respectively, as little as 100 mg caffeine, equivalence to 1 cup of coffee may be enough to cause a headache.

Dr. Schonewille WJ insisted that increased intake of coffee caffeine were found associated with morning or weekend headaches and a decreased response to headache medication or chronic daily headache.

Other, in the investigated population-based cases and controls recruited from the Baltimore, MD, Philadelphia, PA, and Atlanta, GA, metropolitan areas, compared the rate of headaches of controls (n = 507) reported 2 to 104 headache days/year and cases (n = 206) reported > or =180 headache days/year, found that
1. High caffeine consumption was associated with the onset of chronic daily headache (CDH), in comparison with episodic headache controls

2. Dietary and medicinal caffeine consumption was associated with a moderate risk factor for chronic daily headache onset, regardless of the type of headache.
Some researchers suggested that with all the evidence, coffee consumption associated with caffeine content may hurt approximately one-quarter of the reported prevalence of headaches and other conditions such as palpitations, tremors, and insomnia.

Taking it all together, there is no doubt that intake of high coffee caffeine daily and regularly may have an increased risk of early headaches onset and headaches frequency.

#Greentea or TeaLotion May Cure Impetigo, According to Clinical Trials

By Kyle J. Norton

Green tea or tea lotion may have a therapeutic and positive effect better than conventional medicine Framycetin and Cephalexin gramicidin (soframycin) in the treatment of impetigo, some scientists suggested.
The disease investigation was differentiated by a number of institutes including Baghdad University and the results of the studies were published in online literature.

You can view the abstract of studies from PubMed, by clicking any of the resources' links.

Impetigo is a skin condition caused by bacterial skin infection with symptoms of blisters and sores,
around the nose and mouth, and on the arms or legs. In some cases, it may appear in the facial area.

The disease infects mostly children.

In differentiated the effect of tea lotion against impetigo infected by bacteria, researchers at Baghdad University conducted a study with participated of a total of 104 patients, including 47 females (45.2%) and 57 males (54.8%) with ages ranging from one month to 40 years with a median of 4 years.

Patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group with green tea applied to the infected areas and the control group.

According to the diagnosis from the swabbed collected from patients, and analyzed by microbiology impetigo contagiosa, pure S. aureus, and a combination of S. aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes were presented in 94.3% and 5.7% respectively in all patients.

These results suggested that the prevalent risk of impetigo is mostly caused by the infection of S. aureus.

Application tea lotion, including green tea, demonstrated a significant effect in reduced infectious areas substantially with a successfully cured rate of 81.3% compared to the control nontreatment group.

In examining the 40 patients in the control group further assigned to 2 groups that received either an ointment containing Framycetin or gramicidin (soframycin), researchers found that Framycetin and cephalexin gramicidin (soframycin) exerted a potential a cure rate of only 72.2% and 78.6%, respectively.

The results suggested that tea ointment or lotion displayed a better effect in treating impetigo in compared to conventional medicine Framycetin and gramicidin (soframycin) without inducing any adverse effects.

Dr. Sharquie KE, after taking into account other co and confounders said: "(tea lotion) demonstrated the anti-bacterial action of crude tea in vivo, against impetigo contagiosa".

In the further evaluation of green tea's effect in reduced prevalence of skin infection, researchers at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine Rochester showed that catechins found in green tea have shown promise for having antimicrobial effects, particularly in the fractions of (-)-epicatechin (EC), (-)-epicatechin-3-gallate (ECG), (-)-epigallocatechin (EGC), and (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).

Researchers continued that the application of green tea bioactive catechin exhibited a variety of antimicrobial mechanisms and may be considered a potential for preventive and therapeutic purposes.

In fact, relatively low concentrations of ECG were found to sensitize methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) clinical isolates to levels of oxacillin.

And, Catechin gallates such as ECG also showed to intercalate into phospholipid bilayers, affecting both virulence and antibiotic resistance by perturbing the function of the bacterial process of invasion.

The results may be attributed to the green tea effect in reduced key processes associated with the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane.

However, further data collection on studies performed with human consumption during the course of infections, and studies on the occurrence of infections in populations that consume regular amounts of green tea will be necessary to complete the picture of its antimicrobial possibilities.

#Healthyfood #FermentedCucumbers Balance of the Ratio of Microbiota Composition in Vitros, According to Studies

By Kyle J. Norton

The gut microbiome made up of trillions of microorganisms is the bacterial composition found in the gut of the digestive tract.

In a healthy individual, the ratio of the bacterial composition is balanced. In other words, the bad bacteria in the digestive tract are totally countered by the presence of good bacteria.

However, the imbalanced ratio of the composition of the gut microbiota has been associated with chronic diseases ranging from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), obesity, and allergic disorders, in both human and animal models

Believe it or not, gut microbes have been found to influence many aspects of human health including immune, metabolic, and neurobehavioural traits.

In immunity, the balance of the gut microbes showed to stimulate the immune function against inflammatory immune disorders.

Digestively, balanced gut microbes protect the gut against gastrointestinal diseases and non-gastrointestinal diseases caused by overexpression of bad bacteria.

In metabolism, gut microbes influence what the human host is able to extract from its diet, such as nutrients, thus reducing the risk of obesity and obesity complications.

Neurologically, gut microbiota can control brain insulin signaling and metabolite levels that play a critical role in neurobehaviors.

Some researchers suggested, there are huge benefits that influence the function of the brain, immunity, heart, and digestive system and reduce the risk of chronic diseases and conditions such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome by maintaining a good ratio of the gut microbiome.

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongings to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

With an aim to discover a natural ingredient for balancing the ratio of microbiota composition, researchers investigated and evaluated cucumber phytochemical compositions along with their potential gut microbiota modulating, free radical scavenging, and anti-inflammatory capacities.

Seed flour extracts from cucumber enhanced the total number of gut bacteria by altering the abundance of specific bacterial phylum or genus in vitro.

In other words, cucumbers improved digestive functioning by enhancing the ratio of microbiota compositions in the gut.

Compared to broccoli and carrot seed flour extracts, cucumber seed extract showed the least effect in DPPH radical scavenging capacity, oxygen radical absorbing capacity, and hydroxyl radical (HO•) scavenging capacity values of 85, 634, and 270 μmol Trolox equivalent (TE)/g.

In the tested J774A.1 cells, cucumber suppressed the LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

The results strongly suggested that the administration of Cucumis prevented colonic inflammation and improve digestive functioning by changing the gut microbiota composition.

In order to reveal more information about cumber in the improvement of gut microbiota, composition researchers examined Cucumis melo L. (Cucumis) on obesity-induced IR in genetically leptin-deficient Lepob/Lepob mice.

According to the tested assays, Cucumis improved IR and relieved inflammation in adipose tissue and blood which lead to the balance of the ratio of microbiota composition.

Dr. Lee D, the lead scientist after taking into account co and confounders wrote, "administration of Cucumis improved IR by reducing inflammation, thereby changing the gut microbiota composition".

Taken altogether, fermented cucumber may be used for the treatment of digestive dysfunction by improving the ratio of gut microbiota composition, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
