By Kyle J. Norton

Arctostaphylos uva-ursi is one of the species of Bearberry, in the genus Arctostaphylos, belonging to the family Ericaceae, native to northern North America, Asia, and Europe. The herb has been used in traditional medicine as a diuretic agent and to treat urinary problems, including bladder infections, kidney infections, kidney stones, pelvic pain, etc.

Inflammation is a condition of the Immune system's self-protection to remove harmful stimuli, including damaged cells, irritants, and pathogens... from our body.

The Ingredients It contains arbutin, ursolic acid, tannic acid, gallic acid, some essential oil and resin, hydroquinones tannins, phenolic glycosides, and flavonoids.

Water extract (UW-ext) collected from the leaf of Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (L.) Spreng (Bearberry leaf), is found to exhibit anti-inflammatory effects in ear swelling by picryl chloride-induced contact dermatitis (PC-CD) and carrageenin-induced paw edema. arbutin isolated from the leaves of Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (L.) Spreng., when combined with indomethacin on Type IV allergic reaction-induced immuno-inflammation, carrageenin-induced edema, and adjuvant-induced arthritis, found to be effective as arbutin may increase the inhibitory action of indomethacin on PC-CD, SRBC-DTH, carrageenin-induced edema, and adjuvant-induced arthritis, but further investigations are required to understand the mechanism involved. Another study also indicated that 50% methanolic extract (U-ext), containing arbutin, possesses a therapeutic effect against immuno-inflammation induced by picryl chloride (PC-CD) and also increases the inhibitory effect of prednisolone.

#Herbal #Turmeric's #Curcumin in Reducing Symptoms of Radiation #Dermatitis Severity in #Cancer Patients, Acording to Stydy

By Kyle J. Norton

Radiation dermatitis is skin damage caused by exposure to radiation. The condition is often found in patients with radiotherapy for the treatment of cancer.
According to statistics, approximately 85% of patients with radiotherapy are affected by the symptoms of moderate-to-severe skin reactions, particularly in the first 2 weeks of the treatment.

Depending on the period of exposure and levels of skin damage, some patients with radiation of dermatitis may experience symptoms of mild skin redness, itchiness, peeling, moistness,... and blistering

In severe cases, patients may also induce painful broken skin, that is prone to infection.

If you are treated with radiotherapy, you make sure that you know all the side effects for preventive measures.

Believe it or not, patients with certain medical conditions, including skin disease, obesity
malnutrition, infectious diseases, and diabetes are more prone to radiation dermatitis, compared to those who do not.

Most cases of radiation dermatitis are treated successfully by topical steroid cream often prescribed by radiologists. However, if the topical cream failed, antibiotics and silver leaf nylon dressing may be prescribed to reduce symptoms and prevent infection.

Dr. Benoîte Méry, the lead scientist in the examined the risk of skin damage in breast cancer patients who were treated by radiation wrote, "54 patients were enrolled in 2013. Eight patients (14.8%) had grade ≥2 toxicity. The average weight and chest sizes were 65.5 kg and 93.6 cm, respectively. Bra cup size is significantly associated with a risk of grade 2 dermatitis [odds ratio (OR) 3.46, 95% confidence interval (CI) (1.29–11.92), p = 0.02]. Anthropometric breast fat mass measurements, such as the thickness of left [OR 2.72, 95% CI (1.08–8.26), p = 0.04] and right [OR 2.45, 95% CI (0.99–7.27), p = 0.05] axillary fat, is correlated with an increased risk".

And, "Breast size and its different anthropometric measurements (thickness of left and right axillary fat, nipple-to-pectoral muscle distance) are correlated with the risk of skin toxicity".

The results suggested that other parameters, such as the area treated with radiation must also be taken into account for radiation dermatitis.

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, and wound healing agent, and for the treatment of flatulence, bloating, appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.

With an aim to find a skincare product with no side effects, researchers reviewed the chemistry of turmeric on radiation dermatitis that occurred in 95% of patients with radiation therapy (RT) for cancer.

The multisite, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial included 686 breast cancer patients who received four 500-mg capsules of placebo or curcumin three times daily throughout their prescribed course of RT until 1-week post-RT.

According to the severity (RDS) at the end of RT, using the RDS scale, compared to placebo, oral curcumin did not reduce radiation dermatitis severity at the end of RT.

However, the curcumin group showed an improvement in fewer patients with RDS > 3.0.

In other words, oral curcumin exerted a prominent effect in inducing a trend toward reduced severity compared to the non-curcumin-treated group.

According to the reports from participants, curcumin also showed a change in pain, symptoms, and quality of life, although they were not statistically significant between arms.

Taken altogether, turmeric processed with a high amount of bioactive compound curcumin may be considered a supplement for reducing radiation dermatitis severity, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#Healthyfood #Celery Protects the Brian Neurons Against #EAlzheimer’s disease (AD) in Vivos, Researchers Say

By Kyle J. Norton

Celery may be the next generation of the natural and pharmaceutical target to discover the major ingredient for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, some scientists suggested.
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a brain disorder correlated with major reductions of neurons to the respective target areas, named after German physician Alois Alzheimer.

People who are experiencing the symptoms of mild confusion and difficulty remembering at an older age are eventually developing Alzheimer’s disease.

Although researchers do not know the exact cause of AD. However, they do know certain prevalent risk factors such as a genetic proposition, unhealthy diet, and lifestyle, and environmental conditions are associated with the increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

According to the genetic analysis, people who carry the mutation genes associated with autosomal-dominant AD (APP, PSEN1, PSEN2) and APOE4, affecting approximately 12 percent of the U.S. population are associated with an increased risk of late-onset AD.

The Western diet with high in saturated and trans fat, red meat, processed foods, and low in fruits and vegetables and whole-grain is also the major risk factor that causes the disease due to the diet in promoting insulin resistance, decreased endothelial production of nitric oxide, free radical excess, inflammatory metabolites, homocysteine, and estrogen deficiency.

Dr. Berrino F, the researchers at the Istituto nazionale per lo studio e la cura dei tumori in the investigation of the correlation among patients with the AD and follow the Western diet before the disease onset said, "theoretically (AD) be prevented (or delayed) by relatively simple dietary measures aimed at increasing insulin sensitivity (through reduction of refined sugars and saturated fats from meat and dairy products), the ratio between n-3 and n-6 fatty acids (e.g. from fish and respectively seed oils), antioxidant vitamins, folic acid, vitamin B6, phytoestrogens (vegetables, whole cereals, and legumes, including soy products), vitamin B12 (bivalve molluscs, liver), and Cr, K, Mg, and Si salts".

These results suggested if you follow a lifestyle with moderate exercise and prevented exposure to chemical toxicity, before the disease onset you are at a substantially lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

Celery is a species of Apium graveolens, belonging to the family Apiaceae. It is cultivated all around the globe as a vegetable.

The veggie can grow to 1/2 m tall with stalks (leaf on the top) arranged in a conical shape joined at a common base.

Researchers on the team of neurodegenerative program at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College the reaffirm the effect of Chinese celery on neuroprotective effects showed that L-3-n-butylphthalide (L-NBP), an extract from celery seeds demonstrates a significant activity in inhibiting oxidative injury, neuronal apoptosis, and glial activation, reducing amyloid-β protein precursor (AβPP) processing and Aβ generation in rat model.

The study focuses on the neuro effect of 12 months old AβPP/PS1 mice given 15 mg/kg L-NBP by oral gavage for 3 months.

At the end of the experiment, L-NBP treatment significantly improved the spatial learning and memory deficits, compared to the vehicle-treated AβPP/PS1 mice.

The expressions of the cyclin-dependent kinase in regulating the cell cycle and glycogen synthase kinase 3β in regulating cell migration, the most important kinases involved in tau phosphorylation found abundant in neurons of the central nervous, were markedly decreased by L-NBP treatment.

These results indicated the progression of AD in the alternation of neuron cell expression was inhibited by the application of L-NBP.

This reduction of tau phosphorylation and kinase activations caused by the injection of L-NBP was observed in the biomarker of neuro-cell differentiation.

Unfortunately, the application did not exert any effect on cerebral Aβ plaque deposition and Aβ levels in brain homogenates.

Dr. Peng Y, the lead scientist wrote, " L-NBP shows promising candidate of multi-target neuronal protective agent for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease."

Further assessment of the effects of L-NBP on learning and memory in a triple-transgenic AD mouse model (3xTg-AD) that develops both plaques and tangles with aging, as well as cognitive deficits, researchers found that after Ten-month-old 3xTg-AD mice were given 15 mg/kg L-NBP by oral gavage for 18 weeks
* L-NBP treatment significantly improved learning deficits and long-term spatial memory, compared with vehicle control treatment.

* L-NBP treatment significantly reduced total cerebral Abeta plaque deposition and lowered Abeta levels in brain homogenates but had no effect on fibrillar Abeta plaques.

* L-NBP markedly enhanced soluble amyloid precursor protein secretion (alphaAPPs), alpha-secretase, and PKCalpha expression that has been known in the prevention of the molecular mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's disease (AD).

* L-NBP treatment in 3xTg-AD mice also reduced glial activation and oxidative stress compared with control treatment, an indication of AD inhibition.

These remarkable results once again, indicated that L-NBP can be promising preclinical potential as a multitarget drug for the prevention and/or treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Taken together, celery processed with a high amount of bioactive compound L-3-n-butylphthalide (L-NBP) may be considered a functional food in the prevention and combined with primary therapy for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD).

However, further data collection large example size and multi-center studies performed with human consumption of the whole food or its bioactive compounds during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of celery anti-Alzheimer's disease possibilities.

#Herbal #Anise Induces Apoptosis of #TongueCancer Cells Through Cell Cycle Arrests, Researchers Say

By Kyle J. Norton

Scientists may have found a herbal remedy for the prevention and treatment of tongue cancer with no side effects, according to studies.

Tongue cancer is a medical condition characterized by abnormal cell growth in the tongue, due to the alternation of cell DNA.

Most cases of cancer start in the cell of the inner lining tissue of the tongue. At stage 0, cancer cells are not found in the deeper layers of tissue, therefore, most patients at this stage may not experience any symptoms.

At the advanced stage, cancerous cells may travel a distance away from the tongue to infect other healthy tissues or organs through the circulation of fluids and blood, leading to secondary metastasis.

Most common secondary metastasis of tongue cancer is in the mouth and muscles surrounding the mouth.

In 2018, approximately 17, 000 new cases of tongue cancer were diagnosed, representing 1% of all cancer cases in the US. Tongue cancer also causes the death of 2,500 people in the country.

The lifetime risk of tongue cancer is 0.4 % including men and women, based on 2013-2015 data. The 5 years survival of all stages of tongue cancer is 65.8%, according to the National Cancer Institute.

If you experience symptoms of a persistent red or white patch on your tongue, a tongue ulcer with persistent pain that is not healed in 3 weeks, mouth numbness a sore throat with persistent bleeding from your tongue, and lumps that do not go away, you may have tongue cancer. Please check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.

According to the report by the National Institute of Health, “Men who have performed oral sex on five or more women are at greater risk of developing head and neck cancer, especially if they smoke,” the Evening Standard reports.

This story is based on a US study that looked at 9,425 people aged 20 to 59 who provided information about their number of oral sex partners and were tested for oral human papillomavirus (HPV).

Anise is a flowering plant of the species of Pimpinella anisum, genus Pimpinella, belonging to the family Apiaceae native to Egypt and the Mediterranean region.

The popular herb has been used in traditional herbal medicine as a fragrance in soaps, oils, and mouth fresheners and stomachic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, digestive, expectorant, stimulant, and tonic agent to treat head-lice and mites, increase blood pressure, prevent the formation of gas in the gastrointestinal tract and menstrual cramps, etc.

Besides the main ingredient Anethole, herbal Anise also contains, D-pinene, I-phellandrene, Alpha-terpineol, Safrol, Methyl chavicol, Resin, Shikimic acid, etc.

With an aim to discover a natural ingredient or whole food for the treatment of tongue squamous carcinoma with no side effects researchers at the China Medical University, assessed the effects of safrole, one of the important food-borne phytotoxins of herbal Anise.

Injection of safrole showed a significant effect in inducing apoptosis in human tongue squamous carcinoma SCC-4 cells.

Safrole-induced apoptosis was attributed to stimulating the function of a protein associated with the secured cell death pathways and inhibiting the anti-apoptotic protein expression.

These results were also observed through the ratio of the expression of apoptotic and anti-apoptotic proteins found after the injection of safrole.

According to the real-time PCR assay, safrole also promoted the mRNA expressions of proteins involved in the mediation of mitochondrial events of apoptosis in SCC-4 cells.

Dr. the lead scientist, wrote in the report, "Safrole is a cytotoxic effect in human tongue squamous carcinoma SCC-4 cells by inducing apoptosis. The induction of apoptosis of SCC-4 cells by safrole is involved in mitochondria- and caspase-dependent signal pathways".

Additionally in examining aloe-emodin, one of the anthraquinones found in the anise seed, researchers assessed the anti-cancer effect of aloe-emodin on human tongue squamous carcinoma SCC-4 cells.

Injection of aloe-emodin induced cell death through cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in a dose- and time-dependent manner.

Treatment with 30 microM of aloe-emodin led to cell cycle arrest through activation of the protein involved in tumor suppression and suppressed the proteins associated with regulating progression through the cell cycle.

Furthermore, aloe-emodin promoted the release of apoptosis through several inducing factors (AIF) (including endonuclease G (Endo G), procaspase-9, and cytochrome c from the mitochondria via a loss of the mitochondrial membrane potential (DeltaPsi(m))).

Moreover, injection of the free radical scavenger N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and caspase inhibitors markedly blocked aloe-emodin-induced apoptosis.

Taken altogether, herbal Anise processed bioactive compounds safrole and aloe-emodin may be considered a functional herb for the prevention and combined with primary therapy for the treatment of tongue squamous carcinoma.

#Healthyfood #RedCabbage #HydroalcoholicExtract Improves Sleep Quality in Elderly, Researchers Show

By Kyle J. Norton

Most of us experience sleep disturbance sometimes. However, chronic sleep disorders are the changes in the way that you sleep.
Sleep disorders can be acute or chronic. Acute sleep disorder caused by specific or nonspecific events can resolve quickly in short times after the event is addressed.

Ignoring sleep disorders have been found to induce poor health, poor mood, and lethargy, and sometimes have a negative impact on motivation, relationships, and job performance in daily life.

Some people who use over the counter medicine or herbal medicine without consulting the experts may experience side effects and in some cases, worsening sleep problems.

Most people with chronic sleep disorder experience symptoms of excessive daytime sleepiness, irregular breathing or increased movement during sleep, and difficulty falling asleep.

Sleep quality can be measured by examing the.way that you sleep, including the time period that you need to fall to sleep and how many times you have awakened and drifted back to sleep during night sleep.

The National Sleep Foundation’s inaugural Sleep Health Index showed, 45 % of Americans have poor or insufficient sleep that affects their daily activities at least once in the past seven days.

Depending on the types of sleep disorder, the most common causes of chronic sleep disorder are caffeine consumption, lack of regular exercise, poor stress management and the increase in aging.

Dr. Keisuke Suzuki, the lead scientist at the Dokkyo Medical University in the investigation of sleep disorders in the elderly wrote, "Compared with younger people, elderly people show age‐related sleep changes, including an advanced sleep phase and decreased slow‐wave sleep, which results in fragmented sleep and early awakening".

And, "Multiple etiologies contribute to insomnia in the elderly, consistent with the observation that elderly people are likely to have comorbid conditions and medications".

Red cabbage is a species of Brassica Oleracea, belongings to the family Brassicaceae with unknown origin. Today, the plant is cultivated commercially for its thick, slightly bitter edible leaves.

In finding the potent compound for the improvement of sleep quality, researchers investigated the effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of red cabbage and its fractions on sleeping behavior in mice.

According to the tested analysis, the extract increased sleep duration at doses of 50–200mg/kg (P < 0.001), comparable to that of diazepam (3mg/kg) and those of the control group.

The extract decreased sleep latency was attributed to the ethyl acetate fraction LD50 value in the red cabbage extract of 2.4g/kg.

Most importantly, no toxic effect on the viability of cultured neuronal cells (PC12) was found in the tested hydroalcoholic extract.

Collectively, researchers said, "Red cabbage potentiates pentobarbital hypnosis without any toxic effect. The main component(s) responsible for this effect is most likely to be an intermediate polar agent(s) such as flavonoids, which are found in the ethyl acetate fraction of this plant".

Taken altogether, red cabbage may be considered a functional food for the promotion of sleep quality, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Phytochemical #Betacyanins Protects the Liver Against Injury Through Its #Antioxidant Activities, Researchers Show

By Kyle J. Norton

The liver is the largest internal organ not only plays an essential role in filtering the blood from the digestive system before passing them to other parts of the body but also produces cholesterol, a waxy substance that aids digestion, builds cell membranes, and produces vitamin D and steroid hormones.
Liver disease is a class of medical conditions characterized by reducing partly or completely the function of the liver, including liver injury.

Most common symptoms of liver injury are totally depending on the severity of the injury that affects the liver function. In serious cases of liver injury, symptoms may include jaundice, pain in your upper right abdomen, abdominal swelling, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, disorientation or confusion and sleepiness.

The most common causes of liver injury include

* Overdose of certain medications, especially acetaminophen overdose. Believer, it or not, taking too much acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) is the most common cause of acute liver failure in the US.

* Overdose of some prescription medications, including antibiotics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and anticonvulsants is also associated with liver injury.

* Overdose of herbal extracts such as green tea ECG

* Toxins
Exposure to toxic chemicals such as refrigerants and solvents for waxes and eating toxic food such as wild mushrooms may cause liver injury.

Out of many risk factors involved in liver injury, some researchers suggested alcohol intoxication, a condition of alcohol poisoning caused by excessively high levels of recent drinking of ethanol in the blood (alcohol) may be one of the major culprits that cause the long-term injury to the liver.

Over time, excessive alcohol drinking can lead to fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, and chronic hepatitis with liver fibrosis or cirrhosis.

The Canadian Liver Association wrote, "When the liver has too much alcohol to handle, normal liver function may be interrupted leading to a chemical imbalance. If the liver is required to detoxify alcohol continuously, liver cells may be destroyed or altered resulting in fat deposits (fatty liver), and more seriously, either inflammation (alcoholic hepatitis), and/or permanent scarring (cirrhosis).

Betacyanins are phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.

With an aim to find a potential compound for the prevention of liver injury, researchers examined the protective effect of betanin, a chemical compound found in the class of betacyanins on the liver.

In fish pretreated with 1, 2, and 4 % betanin in fodder throughout the experiment for 20 days before intraperitoneally injected with 20 % (v/v in peanut oil) CCl4 at a volume of 0.5 mL/kg body weight, researchers showed that* Injection of CCl4 induced liver injury by promoting the expression of liver CYP2E1 which has been found to increase in patient with liver disease, and oxidative stress.

* Elevated serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST)/alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities and liver histological damage in CCl4 fish were also decreased in the treatment group.

More precisely, compared with the CCl4 control group, the betanin-treated groups exhibited reduced CYP2E1 activity, decreased malondialdehyde level, and increased liver antioxidative capacity (increased glutathione level and superoxide dismutase and catalase activities).

In other words, all parameters associated with liver injury in the CCl4 group are inhibited by the administration of betanin.

Based on the finding, researchers said, " In conclusion, betanin attenuates CCl4-induced liver damage in common carp. Moreover, the inhibition of CYP2E1 activity and oxidative stress may have significant roles in the protective effect of betanin".

Taken altogether, betacyanins processed abundantly bioactive compound betanin may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of liver injury, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of betacyanins in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#Herbal #AloeVera Extracts Process Anti-#Psoriasis Activities, According to A Randomized, Comparative, Double-Blind, 8-week Study.

By Kyle J. Norton

Herbal Aloe vera may be a potential therapeutic remedy for the prevention and treatment of psoriasis with no side effects, scientists found.

Psoriasis is a skin condition characterized by speeding up the life cycle of skin cells, leading to the formation of scales and red patches that are itchy and sometimes painful.

The most common cause of psoriasis is a skin infection with an autoimmune disorder caused by the immune system attacking the skin tissue after bacterial and virus invasion or skin injury due to a cut or scrape, an insect bite, or a severe sunburn.

Some researchers believe that the disorder can also be driven by the change in weather, illness, or stress.

Similar to other types of inflammation, it is a result of overexpression of the inflammatory cytokines produced during the course of skin injury and damage, leading to the death and damage of the skin cells that cause skin cells in the affected area to turn over at a significantly faster rate than normal.

Several risk factors, according to epidemiological studies such as infection, skin injury, smoking, being overweight or obese, and long-term use of certain medications including beta-blockers used for the treatment of hypertension are involved in the initiation and progression of psoriasis.

Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belonging to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan. It has become very popular for commercial cultivation due to its health benefits.

The herbal plant has been used in herbal medicine in treating many kinds of diseases, including wounds, burn healing, minor skin infections, sebaceous cysts, diabetes, and elevated cholesterol, etc. It is also one of many popular herbs studied in scientific ways with some conflicting results.

The ten main areas of chemical constituents of Aloe vera include amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, lignins, monosaccharides, polysaccharides, salicylic acid, saponins, and sterols.

With an aim to find a natural ingredient or herbal medicine for the treatment of psoriasis, with no side effects, researchers evaluated the Aloe vera gel, used traditionally for the treatment of skin diseases, including psoriasis, by assessing the ethanolic extract of the gel in a mouse tail model of psoriasis.

The extract displayed a significant differentiation in the epidermis, as seen from its degree of orthokeratosis (85.07 ± 3.36%) when compared with the negative control (17.30 ± 4.09%).

Furthermore, the extracted gel was found to be equivalent to the effect of the standard positive control, tazarotene (0.1%) gel, which showed a 90.03 ± 2.00% degree of orthokeratosis.

Moreover, the ethanolic extract of Aloe vera leaf gel also produced a significant increase in relative epidermal thickness when compared with the control group, and no change in the standard tazarotene.

Dr. Dhanabal SP, the lead scientist said, "The extract showed an overall antipsoriatic activity of 81.95%, compared with 87.94 for tazarotene, in the mouse tail model for psoriasis".

Additionally, in the examine the topical aloe vera (AV) used to treat various skin conditions, including psoriasis, researchers launched a randomized, comparative, double-blind, 8-week study.

80 patients included in the randomized study received AV or 0.1% TA cream.

The patient's clinical responses were evaluated using the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI).

After 8 weeks of treatment, researchers discovered the mean PASI score decreased from 11.6 to 3.9 (-7.7) in the AV group and from 10.9 to 4.3 (-6.6) in the TA group. Between-group difference was 1.1 (95% confidence interval -2.13, -0.16, P = 0.0237.

And, the mean DLQI score decreased from 8.6 to 2.5 (-6.1) in the AV group and from 8.1 to 2.3 (-5.8) in the TA group.

Between-group difference was 0.3 (95% confidence interval -1.18, -0.64, P = 0.5497).

In the final report, Dr. Choonhakarn C, the lead scientist wrote, "AV cream may be more effective than 0.1% TA cream in reducing the clinical symptoms of psoriasis; however, both treatments have similar efficacy in improving the quality of life of patients with mild to moderate psoriasis".

The findings suggested that herbal Aloe vera may be considered a functional remedy of the treatment of psoriasis topically with no side effects.
