Detoxification: How to Detox and Nourish Your Immune System, Brain, Liver, Kidney, Skin, Lung and Blood For Optimal Health, Citations Provided By NIH

By Kyle J. Norton, Scholar, Master of Nutrition

Western diet contains high saturated fat, trans fat, and other harmful substances such as sugar, caffeine, pesticides, additive substances, and less in fruits and vegetables.

These types of harmful substances are toxic.

Detoxification is a natural process of our body to maintain the proper function and protect our organs and tissues against toxicity by eliminating toxins accumulated.

When they fail,  the toxic accumulations cause a disruption of hormone production, damage the  body's detoxification organs and weaken the immune system, leading to hormone imbalance and many chronic illness consequently.

Some researchers suggested that over expression of toxins may lead to imbalance of the ratio of free redicals and antioxidants produced by the antioxidant enzymes of tissue, leading to oxidative stress in induction of cytotoxicity.

Cytotoxicity not only damage healthy cells but also alternates cells DNA transcription, one of major cause of cancer.

The natural remedies detox and nourish your Immune system, Brain, Liver, Kidney, Skin, Lung and Blood include

1. Garlic extract
Garlic extract is a widely used medication in the world with proven record in preventing and treating heart disease, increasing circulation of blood flow, protecting our kidney and liver against injure and damage caused by ROS inducing cytotoxicity.

According to a 2009 study by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, application of garlic extract in tested mice reserved liver toxicity caused by overdosed on acetaminophen in induction of oxidative stress and depletion of the host antioxidants, such as glutathione (GSH)(1).

Dr. Anoush M, the lead scientist said, "Acetaminophen, the most commonly sold over-the-counter antipyretic analgesic, is capable of causing severe and sometimes fatal hepatic damage in humans and experimental animals".

The herb also strengthen our system's fighting against the degeneration of our body.

2. Gotu Kola
Gotu Kola is also known as cetenlla asiatica with a strong effect in treating nervous system disorder caused by inflammation, and improving alertness and memory.

According to the Inha University Hospital, application of leaf extract exerted a significant activity in reduced oxidative stress induced by injection of dimethylnitrosamine‑induced liver injury in rats(2).

The results of these actions were attributed to the extract in significantly decreased the level of malondialdehyde and increased the levels of host antioxidant enzymes, including superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and catalase, and may have provided protection against the deleterious effects of reactive oxygen species.

In metal toxins accumulation by arsenic exposure (20 ppm in drinking water for 4 weeks) injection in tested rats, application of oral supplementation of Centella asiatica (100, 200 or 300 mg kg(-1), orally once daily displayed a string inhibition of delta-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALAD) activityin induction of increased oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) levels(3).

Over expression of ROS can lead to liver, kidney and brain damage permanently(3).

These result suggested that Gotu Kola anti toxins in the liver, kidney and blood effect(13) may be considered as a co-administration during chelation therapy with a thiol chelator(3).

With enormous antioxidant property, gotu kola can also rejuvenate the body against the forming of free radicals in induced early aging.

3. Astragalus
Astragalus  are used in traditional Chinese medicine for strengthening our body in fighting against diseases and protecting cells from free radicals through it antioxidants activty.

The herbal medicine also is an excellent agent in fought against virus and bacteria, and restored our body's energy.

According to the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Anhui Medical University, extract isolated from the roots of P. lactifloruala and A. membranaceus demonstrated better hepatoprotective activity in compared to application of individual herb used seperately(4), through antioxidant activity.

Furthermore, injection in animal model suggested that astragalus saponin extracts (AS) process a strong kidneys protective on diabetic rats(5). through reduction of renal pathological changes.

4. Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is said to contain all the essential components of life.

Accoridng to traditional herbal medicine, the herb process tonified activity by correcting the deficient, re balanccing nutrition and improving our immune system as well as rejuvenating our body.

In concerns of Cisplatin (CP), after application to patient with an aim to cure cancers although it is effectively in clinics, however, it could induce toxic effects, researchers at the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, conducted an experiment to test whether bee pollen, a natural compound, produced by honey bees has a potential inhibited expression of these toxic effects(6).

The results are so astonishingly, application of bee pollen extract (SCBPE) reversed the damage of liver and kidney caused by Cisplatin (CP) through improving the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic capacity of the body.

Moreover, antioxidant rich bee polen also demostrated a strongly preventive effect against histological changes in the liver and cardiac blood vessels, abnormalities of lipid profile, and the levels of oxidized low density lipoproteins (ox-LDL), asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), and angiotensin II (ANG II) caused by a high-fat diet in C57BL₆ mice(7).

5. Dock
Dock contains vitamin C and vitamin A.
The herbal medicine not only promotes a strong immune system, but also dissolves heavy metalaccumulated in our body and prevents muscular degeneration.

According to the Xi'an Jiaotong University Health Science Center, dihydromyricetin (DHM), a bioactive flavonoid component isolated from dock against lung injure and damage caused by injection of LPS(8).

6. Reishi Mushroom

Reishi Mushroom contains ganoderic acids with function in strengthening our immune system's fight against inflammation.

In the study to evaluate the antioxidative effect of hot water extract of the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum on ethanol-induced free radical generation, researchers at the Taipei Medical University Hospital showed that injection of the extract on dose-dependently exhibited antioxidative effect on mouse liver and kidney lipid peroxidation(9).

At the final report, Dr. Shieh YH, the lead scientist said, "the hepatic and renal protective mechanism of Ganoderma lucidum, might be due at least in part to its prominent superoxide scavenging effect. Ganoderma extract could protect the liver and kidney from superoxide induced hepatic and renal damages".

The hot water extracts also was shown to have antioxidative effect against heart and chemical toxicity(12), according to the Mackay Memorial Hospital(10).

Furthermore, the mushroom polysaccharides protect skin fibroblasts against UVB-induced photoaging(11)..

Detoxification is a process to remove a large quality of toxins accumulation in the body, with an aim to rejuvenate and optimize the function of body organs.

American diet contains high saturated fat, trans fat, and other processively harmful substances such as sugar, caffeine, pesticides, additive substances, and less in fruits and vegetables.

These types of harmful substances are toxic.

Our body's detoxified organs including liver, kidney and skin try to get rid of them everyday.

However,  when they fail,  toxins in the body may cause a disruption of hormone production, damage of our body's detoxification organs and weakening of our immune system, resulting in hormone imbalance and development of chronic illness.

1. Raw sauerkraut
Sauerkraut is finely shredded cabbage and has been fermented by various lactic acid bacteria with distinct sour flavor.

The food contains high amounts of vitamin C, lactobacilli and other nutrients that improve blood circulation and increase level of oxygen in the blood stream.

Herbalists suggested that fermented sauerkraut also purifies the blood and protects skin against aging caused by toxins accumulation on the outer layer of skin.

According to the University of Medical Sciences, application of raw cabbage and sauerkraut juices exerted heart protective effect through stimulating the production of the key detoxifying enzymes(1), thus reducing risk of atherosclerosis, heart attacks, strokes, and a variety of other cardiovascular issues.

And sauerkraut, may be responsible for their chemopreventive activity demonstrated by epidemiological studies and in animal models(1).

2. Garlic
Garlic is nature's super food, in the list of healthy food of dietitians and herbalists used to strengthen the immune system, fight inflammation and infection caused by bacteria, virus, and chronic illness.

The herb or food is a blood thinner, blood purifier as well as increasing the level of oxygen in the blood and improving blood circulation.

According to the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología, injection of garlic exhibited a strong improvement of heart function through inhibiting metabolic syndrome, a major cause of cardiovascular diseases via antioxidant activities(2).

3. Dong Quai
Dong quai has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousand of years in improving blood quality and purity.

The Chinese herb also strengthens the immune system as it supports the body's removal of toxins in the blood.

In the evaluation of the Doxorubicin, an anthracycline antibiotic agent used in the treatment of a variety of solid and haematopoietic tumours, in induction of formation of metabolites that cause acute and chronic cardiac toxicities, researchers found that Angelica sinensis used to treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in China exerted a significant effect in vivo mouse model to protect the heart against doxorubicin-induced chronic cardiotoxicity(3).

The results were carried out in Male ICR mice treated with distilled water or water extraction of A. sinensis (15 g/kg, orally) daily for 4 weeks, followed by saline or doxorubicin (15 mg/kg, intravenously) treatments weekly(3).

4. Red Clover
Red clover, traditionally has been used with other herbs to support the quality of the blood by increasing the level of oxygen circulation of blood to transport nutrients to the cells needs.

It also is a liver tonic herbal medicine with functions in maintaining healthy bowel function and promoting digestion.

In the study of red clover flavonoids(RCF) protect against oxidative stress-induced cardiotoxicity conducted by the researchers at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College said, " RCF (also) improved the free radical scavenging and antioxidant potential, suggesting one possible mechanism of RCF-induced cardio-protection is mediated by blocking the oxidative stresss" and "RCF exerted cardioprotective effects against myocardial injury by inhibiting oxidative stress, cardiac myocyte apoptosis, and modulating MAPK pathways, indicating that RCF might be a potential agent in the treatment of heart disease"(4).

5. Burdock
Besides cleansing the liver, burdock also contains chemical compounds that strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation caused by bacteria and virus.

According to the assessment by echocardiography, arctiin, an active ingredient of biennial dried ripe burdock not only exhibited potent anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities but also protected the heart against cardiac hypertrophy induced by aortic banding (AB), and suppressed cardiac fibrosis and accumulation of collagen in vivo(5).

Truly, in the joint study lead by the Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical College, researchers showed esculetin, another chemical compound found in burdock demonstrates a significant potency in attenuated doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity(6).

As always, please consult with your Doctor or related field specialist before applying.

Some Serious Complications of Dementia, Even Caregivers May Not Aware Of

About 5-8% of all people over the age of 65 have some forms of dementia, and these numbers double every five years above that age.

Dementia is the loss of mental ability that is severe enough to interfere with people's everyday life.

And Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia in aging people.

According to the The University of Manchester, Unhealthy diet with high fat consumption are associated in increased risk on neuroinflammation causing both the neuropathology and memory impairments in animal model(15)..

In the study conducted by Ichinomiya City Hospital, Ichinomiya, Japan, Dr. Ukai K, and Mizuno Y. said, " Physical complications that occurred in our ward in the 12 months from April 2007 to March 2008 were recorded. Our ward has 50 beds and, over the 12 months, the average occupation rate was approximately 90%. We subdivided physical complications into two categories: (i) serious emergencies occurring in the ward with a possible high risk of mortality within a few days (e.g. pneumonia and upper airway obstruction); and (ii) life-threatening complications arising in the ward that required diagnosis and treatment by specialists from other medical departments (e.g. bone fracture andcancer)"(10).

The serious complications that caregiver may not be award of

1. Pneumonia
In the study of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Givens JL showed that Pneumonia is common among patients with advanced dementia, especially toward the end of life.

Whether antimicrobial treatment improves survival or comfort is not well understood.

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of antimicrobial treatment for suspected pneumonia on survival and comfort in patients with advanced dementia.(11)

2. Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS)
The prevalence of OSAS increases with aging, occurring in up to 25% of older adults and up to 48% in patients with Alzheimer's disease. OSAS causes hypoxia, fragmented sleep, daytime sleepiness, cognitive dysfunction, functional decline, and brain damage resulting from reduced cerebral blood flow, ischemic brain lesions, microvascular reactivity, white matter lesions, and grey matter loss(12)

3. Bone fracture
In the study to investigate the relationship between bone mass and dementia in elderly hip fracture patients from areas with different aluminium concentrations in water supplies to determine researchers found that high concentration of aluminium in the drinking water and the negative calcium balance are age-related osteoporosis together predispose to senile dementia.(13)

4. Urinary incontinence
Urinary incontinence may require insertion of a urinary catheter, which is known to increase the risk of UTIs.

Urinary incontinence is a common problem in dementia. Almost invariably, the person with dementia will develop incontinence as the disease progresses.

However, the primary reasons for incontinence are often not because of any significant pathology in the urinary system. Rather, it is due to factors outside the urinary system.(14)

5. Venous thromboembolism
In the study to assess 37988 patients of whom 1316 (3.5%) had dementia, venous thromboembolism (VTE) patients with dementia had a high incidence of fatal pulmonary embolism (PE) and fatal bleeding.

In those initially presenting with PE, the risk of dying of PE far outweighed that of fatal bleeding.

And,  in patients presenting with DVT alone, the risk of fatal PE was lower than that of fatal bleeding.(15).

Coffee Gobbles Up Arterial Plaque, in Reduced Mortality Risk of Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack), Scientists Say

By Kyle J. Norton

Habitual coffee consumed by myocardial infarction patients showed a significant reduced risk and rate of mortality, some scientists suggested.

Myocardial infarction is another term of heart attack occurred when blood flow suddenly decreases or stops to a part of the heart, that cause substantial damage to the heart muscle.

The causes of heart attack are associated to the building up plaque in the arteries, affecting the volumes of blood flood in transport nutrients and fluids to the body organs and tissue due to narrowing of the blood vessels.

Cholesterol narrowing the arteries is one common cause of coronary artery disease, a major cause of heart attack.

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood.

People in the early stage of heart attack may experience symptoms of chest pain or discomfort which may affect upper body, including pain of the shoulder, arm, back, neck, or jaw.

Researchers at the Mayo clinic suggested, "Limiting how much saturated and trans fats you eat is an important step to reduce your blood cholesterol and lower your risk of coronary artery disease" and "A high blood cholesterol level can lead to a buildup of plaques in your arteries, called atherosclerosis, which can increase your risk of heart attack and stroke".

In the differentiation of the effect of fruit and vegetable intake and risk for coronary heart disease, Dr. Joshipura KJ at Harvard School of Public Health indicated
* Highest quintile of vegatables and fruits intake is associated to reduced risk of coronary heart disease with the relative odd ratio of .80 in compared to lowest quintile of intake.

* The risk of coronary heart disease is reduced by 4% for each 1-serving/d increase of fruits or vegetables. The odd ratio is decrease further to those who eat green leafy vegetables, regularly.

Coffee, a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

In a study of 4365 Dutch patients from the Alpha Omega Cohort, aged 60-80 y (21% female) and experienced an MI <10 y before study enrollment, using baseline (2002-2006), to evaluate the dietary data including coffee consumption over the past month collected and 203-item validated food-frequency questionnaire, after examine the returned questionnaire from participants, researchers showed that
* Most of patients(96%) were coffee drinkers
*  Intake of coffee >4 cups/d, regularly and daily expressed a inverse association to risk of mortality in compared to 0-2 cups/d.
* Motility risk after myocardial infarction (MI) was decreased for every cup of additional coffee intake

Interesting, researchers also found out that there were no risk difference between caffeine and decaffeinated coffee.

These findings suggested that the efficacy of reduced risk of mortality of MI patients may be associated to chemical constituents in coffee, other than caffeine.

Additionally, in the review of literature in the data base of MEDLINE and Embase published between 1946 and 2015, 2 eligible studies involved-AMI mortality risk against coffee consumption with a total of 3271 patients and 604 died, in patients classified as light coffee drinkers (1-2 cups/day) versus noncoffee drinkers, heavy coffee drinkers (a>2 cups/day) versus noncoffee drinkers and heavy coffee drinkers versus light coffee drinkers, scientists filed the following results
* All groups showed a significant reduction in risk ratio in compared to non drinkers.

* The hazard risk ratio was 0.79 in light coffee drinkers versus noncoffee drinkers.

* The risk ratio of 0.54 was found in heavy coffee drinkers versus noncoffee drinkers and

* Heavy coffee drinkers versus light coffee drinkers were associated with a risk ratio of 0.69

Although there was no linear association of amount of coffee intake in risk of MI and MI morality, coffee intake expressed a strong effect against risk of MI and MI death in patients after heart attack.

These results of coffee efficacy may be associated to coffee hypercholesterolemic activity in prevention of cholesterol building up for the development of coronary artery disease(5).

Most important, eventhough habitual coffee consumption exerted a enormous effect in reduced risk
coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and stroke as well as decreasing risk of mortality, but most of the data on coffee's health effects are based on observational examine with very few randomized, controlled studies, and association does not prove causation.

There fore, further data collection on studies performed with human consumption over a long term in compared coffee and non coffee intake ( risk of heart attack)and during the course of the disease(risk of mortality) will be necessary to complete the picture of  possibilities of coffee efficacy.

Additionally, while addressing the possible advantages of regular coffee consumption, researchers must also take into account of potential, risk such as anxiety, insomnia, tremulousness, and palpitations.

^^^^***A Food With Anti Inflammatory Diseases and Conditions Potency, Scientists Say

Kyle J. Norton (Scholar, Master of Nutrition, All right reserved)

Eggplant may be used as a therapeutic and positive anti inflammatory functional food without alternating the immune activity in inflammatory diseases and conditions, some scientists opinionated.

Eggplant with deeply purple colcor, is a species of S. melongena, belongs to the family Solanaceae cultivated in southern and eastern Asia since prehistory, and native to India.

Inflammation is a natural expression by immune system in induction of while blood cells for protection our body against infection caused by foreign invasion.

However, Over stimulation of inflammatory cytokines to fight the infection may have strong negatively impact on the body tissue and organs, such as forming of scars, death of the healthy cells in the infectious site.

Prolong period of inflammation may lead permanently tissue damage and alternation of DNA of healthy cells.

Some researchers suggested that chronic inflammation can eventually lead to development of numbers of diseases and conditions, including some cancers, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.

For example, risk of colon cancer is increased substantially to people with chronic inflammatory ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease in compared to health adults

Dr. Leonard BE at the joint study involved diseases association to long term inflammation, lead by the National University of Ireland, said, "Physical ill-health is a common feature of depression. Cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer are, for example, common occurrences and lead to increased morbidity and mortality" and "( that the causes of inflammatory diseases may be) attributable to an unhealthy life style or due to genetic or other causes that are exacerbated by stress and adverse environmental factors"(4).

According to Canadian statistic, approximately 233,000 Canadians are living with IBD in 2012 (129,000 individuals with CD and 104,000 with UC), corresponding to a prevalence of 0.67%. And approximately 10,200 incident cases occur annually. IBD can be diagnosed at any age, with typical onset occurring in the second or third decade of life(5).

Researchers today still don't know why some people are susceptible to the disease prevalence while others don't.

Most common risk factors of inflammatory diseases include unhealthy diet, hormones expression, use of immunosuppressive and infectious drugs, obesity, prolong exposure to sunlight and radiation, tobacco, old age, alcohol abuse, .... and cancer-causing substances.

In the differentiation of water extract of Solanum melongena L. (Solanaceae) effect in induction of antioxidant, analgesic, hypolipidemic and antiallergic activity in mice induced by injection of trypsin or trans-cinnamoyl-LIGRLO-NH(2) (tc-NH(2)) into the hindpaw, scientists found that oral administration of the extract at doses of 5, 10, and 100 mg/kg display strong effects in inhibition of both paw edema and vascular permeability.

Further analysis also showed that the highest dose injection of 10 mg/kg expressed a greatest activity in compared to the others in significantly inhibited PAR2 agonist-induced myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity in stimulated immune function activated pro inflammatory cytokines and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha expression to precipitate inflammation in response to the acute phase of infection.

Proteinase-activated receptor-2 (PAR2), are a family of four G-protein-coupled receptors found in the inflammatory cells and epithelial tissues that process a function in participated in the development of inflammatory diseases.

In these cases, Proteinase-activated receptor-2 (PAR2) induced inflammation through activated pro inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha involved systemic inflammation in the acute phase reaction.

After taking into account of other con-founders, Dr. Umamageswari MS suggested that water extract of the S. melongena (SMWE) inhibits PAR2 agonist-induced mouse paw edema, through its anti inflammatory expression.

According to the investigated the inflammatory activities of aqueous extract of leaves of Solanum melongena Linn in arrageenan induced paw edema, in compared to standard medicne aspirin, oral application of Solanum melongena L. in different doses of 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg, 400mg/kg at 1(st) h, 3(rd) h, and 5(th) after injection revealed a significant effects in reduced inflammation linearly induced by carrageenan toxicity in dose dependent manner.

Additional differentiation, also suggested that the doses of 200mg/kg and 400 mg/kg of aqueous extract of S. melongena L showed the percentage of inhibition of 42.62% which is less than the standard drug aspirin which showed 64.5% inhibition.

In free radical induced chronic inflammation, the investigation of 4 our new lignanamides, melongenamides A-D (1-4), together with six known ones (5-10) isolated from the roots of Solanum melongena L. also demonstrated a significant activity in inhibitions of inflammatory effect caused by free radical species nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages through their antioxidant effect.

Interestingly, the study also found out that not all compound extracted from the roots expressed the same levels of antioxidant properties in reduced inflammatory induced by ROS.

In compared to other compounds, compound melongenamide 1  exerted antioxidant effect without inhibited free radical nitric oxide production.

The findings suggested that eggplant may be used as function food in reduced risk of inflammation in acute infection and as a adjunct therapy in combination with standard treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases.

However, further data collection on studies performed with human consumption during the course of the diseases and conditions are necessary to complete the picture of eggplant anti inflammatory  possibilities.

Appendicitis:The Causes and Risk Factors

By Kyle J. Norton

Appendicitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of appendix.

It is classified as an emergency, in many required the removal of the appendix.

If bursted, or perforated, spilling infectious materials into the abdominal cavity, can be life threatening.

A. Causes
The cause of appendicitis is the result of blockage by stool, a foreign body, or cancer of that can lead to infection.
1, Bacterial, viral and parasitic infiection
According to the study by the, the pathologic spectrum of the inflamed appendix encompasses a wide range of infectious entities, some with specific histologic findings, and others with nonspecific findings that may require an extensive diagnostic evaluation.

The appendix is exclusively involved in some of these disorders, and in others may be involved through extension from other areas of the gastrointestinal tract(4).

Other in the study to investigate the role of parasitic infestation in the etiology of acute pediatric appendicitis, indicated that parasites are present in 5.5% (88 patients), and of those 88 parasitic infestations, 45 (51.1%) are Enterobaisis, 8 (9.1%) are Schistosomiasis, 23 (26.1%) are Ascariasis, 7 (8%) Trichuriasis, and 5 (5.7%) are Teania Saginata.

The percentage of patients with suppurative, gangrenous or perforated appendicitis was similar in both groups with no statistical significance, irrespective of the presence or absence of parasitic infestation(5).

2. Foreign objects
Appendicitis and its complications remain a common problem affecting patients of all age groups.

Appendicitis due to foreign bodies is rare and carries an estimated frequency of 0.0005%.

But according to the Department of Surgery, Heilig Hart Tienen, there is a case of a 44-year-old man with appendicitis induced by an appendicolith containing eight steel shotgun pellets.

The man was a recreational hunter and for the past 20 years he consumed wild game on a regular basis(6).

B. Risk factors
1. Age 10 × 103/mm
In the study to evaluate the impact of timing of appendectomy and other potential risk factors on progression of acute appendicitis, by searching the relevant databases of a tertiary medical center identified 1,604 patients with verified acute appendicitis who underwent appendectomy in 2004-2007with demographic and clinical data and time from symptom onset to emergency room admission (“patient interval”) and from emergency room admission to surgery (“hospital interval”) and their combination were analyzed by pathological grade, researcher found  that on multivariate analyses, independent risk factors for appendiceal perforation were age 50 years, white cell count >10 × 103/mm(3), body temperature >37.8 °C, hospital interval >24 h, patient interval >48 h , and combined interval >48 h.

2. Gender difference, among young
According to study appendicitis is common among young, healthy populations; appendectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures performed in the United States.

Among active and reserve component members, there were 31,610 cases of appendicitis and 30,183 appendectomies during 2002 to 2011.

The overall incidence rate of appendicitis in the active component was 18.4 per 10,000 person-years (p-yrs).

Active component males reported greater rates of perforated appendicitis (2.6 per 10,000 p-yrs).

Active component females had higher rates of incidental appendectomies (2.6 per 10,000 p-yrs)(8).

3. Race, increased over time and is higher in the summer months
Appendicitis is most common in whites and Hispanics and less common in African Americans and Asians.

And incidence has increased over time and is higher in the summer months, according to the study by the University of California San Diego(9).

4. Prior antibiotic administration
Prior treatment with antibiotics was an independent risk factor for therapeutic delay in pediatric AA, according to the study by the National Center for Child Health and Development, Tokyo(10).

5. Factors associated with an increased likelihood of appendicitis included decreased bowel sounds; rebound tenderness; and presence of psoas, obturator, or Rovsing’s signs(11).

6. In patients with end-stage renal disease
The independent risk factors were atrial fibrillation (hazard ratio [HR], 2.08), severe liver disease (HR, 1.74), diabetes mellitus (HR, 1.58), and hemodialysis (HR, 1.74), according to the study by the Taipei Medical University(12).

7. Severity of inflammation
CRP concentration may be a potent objective predictor of pathological severity in appendicitis. Combination with the other diagnostic modalities may improve the diagnostic accuracy in predicting the severity of appendicitis(13).

8. Appendicolith
Presence of an appendicolith was associated with a 72% rate of recurrent appendicitis compared with a recurrence rate of 26% in those with no appendicolith.

9. Other risk factors
The principal factors contributing to perforation of appendix are: age of children, delays of surgical intervention, family anamnesis, social group and late recognition of symptoms of appendicitis(14).

Infectious Diseases: Scientists Successfully Found the Minerals and Mineral Compouds That Suppress Over Growth of Candida, Cited by MEDLINE

By Kyle J. Norton, Scholar, Master of Nutrition

Candida albicans are members of a large group of micro organism whose cells contain complex structures enclosed within the membranes, including yeast(2)(3), fungi(4)(5)(6), and mold(6) that live among the gut flora in the human mouth and gastrointestinal tract.

Non-albicans Candida (NAC) species cause 35-65% of all candidaemias in the general patient population(1).

According to joint study, in many cases, biofilm(microorganisms with cells stick to each other on a surface) formation(7) gene mutations(8) and overexpression of genes(9)(10) are often associated with increased candida resistance toward antifungal drugs.

ROS species have duo functions that are well documented for playing an important role in our body as both beneficial and deleterious molecules in expression of cytotoxicity against abnormal cells alternation and initiation of chronic ailments by causing imbalance of the ratio among antioxidants and free radicals, respectively.

Minerals and mineral compounds, the organic substances are also essential in improved cellulars process, but the amounts required are very small.

Over expression minerals are toxicity to body's organs and tissue.

In free radical over expression initiated over growth candida, as differentiated in the vitamins article, application of addition of minerals of concentration µM500 µM exerted a significant effect in inhibited DPPH, chemical compound 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl of stable free-radical molecules(a).

The Anti Over Growth of Candida minerals and mineral compounds
1. Coral Calcium
One of the richest sources of calcium not only is an important mineral in building stronger, denser bones early in life and keeping bones strong(248) and healthy later in life and preventing the risk of osterporosis(249), but also alkalize the body to eliminate the favor environment for candida overgrowth(250).

2. Magnesium Citrate
Magnesium Citrate is a magnesium salt of citric acid, a chemical agent used medicinally as a saline laxative(251). Besides it is important to maintain proper level of pH(252) for the body's organs to enhance their biochemical pathways for detoxification(253), the mineral compound also limits or reduces the over growth of candida.

Magnesium Citrate can act as a defecation in stimulating naturally bowel movement.

The mineral, magnesium plays a key role in the immune response, by acting as a co-factor for immunoglobulin synthesis(254) that significantly increase for both IgA and IgG, the antibody molecules to protect our body against bacterial and viral infections(255) and the lining of the respiratory passages, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract(255).

3. Lithium chloride
Lithium chloride is a chemical compound with the formula LiCl. The salt is a typical ionic compound.

While maintaining the proper PH levels(257), lithium also suppresses the yeast phosphoglucomutase activity(256) and inhibits the candida albicans filamentation and hyphal outgrowth(258).

4. Sodium bicarbonate
Used as an alkaline treatment(259), sodium bicarbonate is important to balance the levels of PH by taking away the acidity environment for candida overgrowth(260)(261).

Researchers found that 5% sodium bicarbonate on the adherence of Candida albicans to thermally activated acrylic resin proved to be a viable alternative in the reduction of Candida albicans(262).

5. Phosphonium salts
Phosphonium salts with long alkyl chains (C18) show high levels of antimicrobial activity(263).

Application of  alkyltrimethylphosphonium salts(263) inhited the bactericidal activity against S. aureus and Escherichia coli by increasing alkyl chain length(263), probably through its antimicrobial polymers(264), according to the joint study by University of New Brunswick, Southwest Petroleum University, and North China Electric Power University

6. Zinc
Zinc is an important mineral in boosting immune system activity(265)(266).

Its nano-structure zinc(II) coordination compounds, has been used in zinc therapy to treat candida overgrowth(267) by promoting metallothionein (MT)(found in high concentration in intestinal mucosa)synthesis(268) through its anti inflammatory activity(269).
