Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease (MND) or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a type of dementia that causes the death of neurons controlling voluntary muscles.

Furthermore, the Den injected group also showed increased inflammatory cytokines and stimulated protein associated with forming new blood vessels for cancer growth accompanied by liver damage through the expression of liver function markers.
Moreover, the administration of DEN also affected the liver cell through the occurrence of hepatic cellular degeneration and necrosis.
Treatment with fish oil (5%, 10%) or artichoke heads or leaves (0.5, 1 g) for 25 days displayed a significant amelioration of DEN-induced changes in the biochemical parameters.
In the depth analysis, the administration of fish oil (5%, 10%) or artichoke heads or leaves (0.5, 1 g) fish oil (5%, 10%) or artichoke heads or leaves (0.5, 1 g) almost restored the liver functioning in treated groups, compared to the controls.

On hepatocytes exposed to H2O2 generated in situ by glucose oxidase, injection of AE not only restored the levels of antioxidant enzymes from the host but also decreased the oxidative stress marker in the liver.
In other words, AE protected the liver against lipid peroxidation and cell death and prevented the loss of total GSH and the accumulation of MDA.
Additionally, AE also reduced cell viability in a dose-dependent manner in HepG2 cells in 24 h.
In liver cancer cell lines, AE induced liver protective activity by activating the proteins associated with cell apoptosis, according to the flow cytometric analysis of annexin.
Dr. Miccadei S, the lead scientist said, "AE had a marked antioxidative potential that protects hepatocytes from oxidative stress. Furthermore, AE reduced cell viability and had an apoptotic activity on a human liver cancer cell line".

Where p53, also known as TP53, is a protein that processes a function in regulating the cell cycle division and hence functions as a tumor suppression.
Dr. Li H, the lead author, after taking into account co and confounders, said, "Arbutin inhibits TCCSUP cell proliferation via ERK inactivation and p21 up-regulation".

Liver injury may be a result caused by physical impact or penetrating trauma. In some cases, liver injury can also be induced by toxicity, leading to acute liver injury.
Liver injury can be mild or severe. In a mild case, liver injury can recover itself. However, in severe cases. surgery to stop the bleeding and remove the part of the injury may be necessary.
Most cases of liver injury can lead to abdominal pain and tenderness caused by bleeding blood in the abdomen that irritates the abdominal tissue.
The severity of a liver injury can be diagnosed by computed tomography (CT) or ultrasonography.
According to the statistics, liver injury has been found to constitute 5% of all traumas, making it the most common abdominal injury.
Liver injury can be classified by the liver injury scale, depending on the area of the damage
* Grade I <10% surface area < 1 cm in depth
* Grade II 10–50% surface area 1–3 cm
* Grade III >50% or >10 cm >3 cm

Betanin is a Phytochemical in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments of Betacyanins, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.
With an aim to find a natural compound for the protection of the liver against injury, researchers examined the protective effect of betanin against liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.).
The study included fish treated with 1, 2, and 4 % betanin in fodder throughout the experiment for 20 days followed by intraperitoneally injected with 20 % (v/v in peanut oil) carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) at a volume of 0.5 mL/kg body weight.
Where carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) is a highly toxic liquid chemical.
Injection of CCL4, after 3 days showed liver histological damages accompanied by the induced liver CYP2E1 activity associated with some degrees of steatosis and increased serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST)/alanine aminotransferase (ALT), the indication of oxidative stress.
Furthermore, CCL4 also induced liver damage expressed by the depletion of glycogen storage.
Compared with the CCl4 control group, the betanin-treated groups reduced CYP2E1 expression, decreased malondialdehyde level, and increased liver antioxidative capacity observed by the increased glutathione level and superoxide dismutase and catalase activities.
Moreover, the betanin-treated groups also increased liver glycogen storage, and reduced serum AST/ALT activities, with significant differences in the 2 and 4 % treatment groups.
These results suggested betanin processes liver protective effects against liver injury by restoring some levels of liver function through its antioxidant activity.
Dr. Han J, the lead scientist wrote in the final report, " Betanin attenuates CCl4-induced liver damage in common carp. Moreover, the inhibition of CYP2E1 activity and oxidative stress may have significant roles in the protective effect of betanin".
Taken altogether, betanin may be considered a supplement for the treatment of liver injury, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of betanin in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Some researchers suggested that some people with severe metabolic syndrome may also experience a condition of hirsutism.

The 12 weeks of double-blind, placebo-controlled intervention for CA-ext treatment study included 30 women (age 20-52 years) who were recruited into a 12-week group and were randomly allocated to the left or right armpit group by applying lotion (to the contralateral axilla) twice daily via roll-on applicators containing either CA-ext or placebo after hair shaving.

According to the results, lotion participants showed 22% (range 8-56%, p < 0.0001) reduced axillary hair growth with CA-ext compared to placebo.
At the end of the study, lotion group participants showed shorter and finer armpit hair compared to placebo.
Although there was no adverse effect reported by the lotion group, most participants disliked the smell.
Based on the findings, researchers said, "A-ext in lotion is an efficacious inhibitor of axillary hair growth, the preparation was well accepted and matched the effectiveness of finasteride".
Taken together, turmeric may be considered a supplement for preventing unwanted hair growth, pending confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of turmeric in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.
