The breast-formed part of the women's reproductive system is the tissue overlying the chest muscles with a primary function to produce milk for nutrition to the infant and baby.
The size of a woman's breast is totally depending on the amount of fat accumulation.
Breast cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the tissues of the breast either from the inner lining of milk ducts (Ductal carcinoma) or the lobules (Lobular carcinoma) that supply the ducts with milk.
However, at the advanced stage, invasive cancer cells can travel a distance away from the breast to infect other healthy tissues and organs via lymph and blood, leading to secondary metastasis.
According to the joint study led by the Unité Génie Enzymatique et Cellulaire, phytochemical isobetanin may process chemopreventive activity against breast cancer.
Isobetanin is a Phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments of Betacyanins, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard,...
In MCF-7-treated cells, betanin/isobetanin concentrate exerted anti-cancer activity by significantly decreasingand cancer cell proliferation and viability.
Betanin/isobetanin concentrates increased the levels of proteins associated with the promotion of apoptosis such as Bad, and p53, and alternated the cancer cell's mitochondrial membrane potential that processed energy storage during oxidative phosphorylation.
Betanin/isobetanin treatment also induced autophagic cell death in the MCF-7 cancer cell line.
According to the statistics, the lifetime risk of breast cancer in a woman is 12%. In the US, approximately 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer, compared to 2,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer in men in 2019.
The most common symptoms at the early stage of breast cancer are a lump (mass) in the breast, in the armpit (lymph nodes), nipple discharge (clear or bloody), inverted or retracted nipple, scaly or pitted skin on nipple persistent tenderness of the breast and unusual breast pain or discomfort.
However, at the advanced stage, patients with breast cancer may also experience additional symptoms of bone pain (secondary tumors in the bone), shortness of breath (secondary tumors in the lung), unintentional weight loss, and drop in appetite (secondary tumors in the liver) and headaches, neurological pain or weakness (secondary tumors in the nervous system).
The causes of breast cancer are unknown. Out of many risk factors associated with the risk of breast cancer, aging may be a major factor as most breast cancers are diagnosed after age 50.
Dr. Christopher C. Benz wrote, "Early-onset breast cancers largely represent inherited or early life-transforming effects on the immature mammary epithelium, late-onset breast cancers likely follow extended exposures to promoting stimuli of susceptible epithelium that has failed to age normally"
And " late-onset breast cancers grow more slowly and are biologically less aggressive than early-onset breast cancers, even when controlled for hormone receptor (e.g. estrogen receptor, ER) and growth factor receptor (e.g. HER2) expression, supporting the conclusion that the biology of breast cancer is age-dependent".
More precisely, betanin/isobetanin inhibits breast cell toxicity-induced breast cancer caused by accumulated breast tissue damage due to oxidative stress over time.
Based on the finding, researchers said, "Our data bring new insight to consider the betanin/isobetanin mix as a therapeutic anticancer compound, alone or in combination with classical chemotherapeutic drugs, especially in functional p53 tumors".
Taken together, isobetanin combined with betanin/may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Coffee Inhibits Risk Factors Such as Obedity and Depression of Cardiovascular Disease, According to Studies
Kyle J. Norton
Coffee consumers may have one less risk to worry about. A recent study by a well-known institute suggested that long-term and moderate coffee consumption is inversely associated with CVD risk.
Coffee, becoming a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roast beans from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.
Cardiovascular disease is a medical condition characterized by a heart attack, chest pain (angina), or stroke caused by narrow blood vessels induced block blood.
In the review of literature from the database involved prospective cohort studies of the relationship between coffee consumption and CVD risk, 36 satisfied the guidelines included studies, with 1 279 804 participants and 36 352 CVD cases, coffee drinkers have a nonlinear association with the risk of CVD, depending to numbers of cup intake per day.
According to a joint study led by the Harvard School of Public Health, the relative risk of cardiovascular disease in coffee consumption was .95 in compared with the 0 cups of coffee consumption per day.
Dr. Ding M, the lead author in the review said, "Moderate coffee consumption was inversely significantly associated with CVD risk, with the lowest CVD risk at 3 to 5 cups per day, and heavy coffee consumption was not associated with elevated CVD risk".
In fact, long-term moderate coffee consumption not only reduced the risk of heart disease but also ameliorated other conditions associated with CV risk factors such as obesity and depression. However, the effect of caffeine in lipid files may be associated with endothelial function in increased CVD risk, depending on how the coffee is prepared.
More importantly, epidemiological studies also suggest that risks of mortality in both CV and all causeson are substantially attenuated in regular coffee drinkers.
Furthermore, other researchers insisted that the health benefits of coffee consumption regarding cardiovascular system risk, mostly depend on its antioxidant compounds involved many factors, such as the variety of coffee species, roasting degree, type of brewing method, and serving size.
Since most of the data on coffee's health effects are based on observational data, the risk of high caffeine adverse effects such as anxiety, insomnia, tremulousness, and palpitations have rarely been mentioned, therefore, more randomized, controlled studies are necessary, some researchers suggested.

#Phytochemical Indole-3-carbino Inhibits #ProstateCancer through Cell Cycle Arrests and Apoptosis, Reserachers Suggest
Kyle J. Norton
Scientists may have found a bioactive compound isolated from the cruciferous vegetable for the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer with no side effects, according to studies.
Indole-3-carbinol is a phytochemical in the class of Indoles, by the breaking down of the glucosinolate glucobrassicin, found abundantly in cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, rutabaga, mustard greens, broccoli, etc.
Prostate cancer is a medical and chronic condition in which the cells of the prostate have become cancerous due to the alternation of the cell's DNA.
Most prostate cancers are slow-growing and enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be detected during Physical (rectum) exams.
Primary prostate cancer normally starts from the cell on the surface of the inner lining of the prostate tissue and gradually spreads to the deeper part of the prostate.
At the early stage, patients may not experience any symptoms, However, at the advanced stage, prostate cancer can induce symptoms of blood in the urine, frequent urination, and urinary difficulty.
The cancer cells at this stage can also travel a distance away from the prostate to invade other healthy tissues and organs, leading to secondary metastasis tumors.
According to the statistic, the 5-year survival rate for local and regional (stage 0 and 1) stages of prostate cancer is nearly 100%.
Therefore, men who are at higher risk of prostate cancer due to family history and increase in age and inherited gene changes should have their prostate gland checked annually.
Believe it or not, more than 80% of prostate cancers are diagnosed in men who are 65 or older.
Dr. Roberto Fabiani, the lead scientist at the University of Perugia suggested that people who follow the Western diet pattern are at increased risk of prostate cancer onset.
According to the results from the review of 12 observational studies included in the meta-analysis which identified a “Healthy pattern” and a “Western pattern”, he said, "The Healthy pattern was not related to PC risk (OR = 0.96; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.88–1.04) while the Western pattern significantly increased it (OR = 1.34; 95% CI: 1.08–1.65)".
In other words, by a change of diet from high in saturated and trans fat, red meat, and processed foods to a diet high in fruits and vegetables and whole grains, the risk of prostate cancer can be reversed.
In order to reaffirm the epidemiological evidence that suggested that intake of cruciferous vegetable intake is associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer, researchers at the Oregon State University, Corvallis assessed the bioactive compound indole-3-carbinol against the onset of prostate cancer.
In vitro and in vivo. application of indole-3-carbinol inhibits prostate cancer by both blocking initiation and suppressing prostate cancer progression. these results were associated with the induction of phases I and II detoxification pathways.
Injection of indole-3-carbinol inhibited the cell signaling pathways associated with cancer cell proliferation and survival.
Recently, indole-3-carbinol derivatives induced cancer cytotoxicity through induction of free radical expression.
In the laboratory, I3C can induce G1 cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis in prostate cancer cells.
Furthermore, I3C and its derivative dimeric product 3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM) inhibited the genes associated with the control of cell cycle, cell proliferation, signal transduction, and other cellular processes in prostate cancer cell lines.
Dr. Sarkar FH, the lead scientist, wrote in the final report of the experiment, "Because there is no effective treatment strategy for hormone-dependent and, most importantly, hormone-independent and metastatic prostate cancer, our strategies to sensitize prostate cancer cells to a chemotherapeutic agent by I3C and DIM is a novel breakthrough that could be used for devising novel therapies for prostate cancer".
More importantly, Wayne State University School of Medicine, in a study to confirm that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables provides phytochemicals, launched an investigation to examine the anticancer effect of indole-3-carbinol (I3C).
According to the study, I3C inhibits the growth of PC-3 prostate cancer cells
* through the Induction of G1 cell cycle arrest.
* Promoted the expression of regulators associated with cell cycle progression at G1 and S phase and proteins associated with cancer cell apoptosis.
* Inhibited proteins associated with the progression of cell cycle division
* Inhibited protein in the promotion of proteins associated with cancer cell cycle division.
Taken together, the plant base Indole-3-carbinol isolated from the cruciferous vegetable may be used for the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer with no side effects.

#Greentea EGCG Exerts a Strong Immunomodulatory Activity, Reserachers Say
Kyle J. Norton
Green tea is found to have a strong immunomodulating effect, affecting the innate and adaptive immune systems, a renowned institute study suggested.
Green tea, a precious drink processes a number of health benefits known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long-term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, inducing "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weakened immunity and painful cases of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.
According to the Harvard Medical School, epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) isolated from green tea expressed a strong effect on T cell functions, including T cell activation, proliferation, differentiation, and production of cytokines.
Injection of the phytochemical in the animal model showed significant effects in regulated T cell dysfunction in the expression of autoimmune inflammatory diseases as well as ameliorated T cell-mediated autoimmune diseases.
Furthermore, in naïve CD4(+) T cells proliferate and differentiate into different effector subsets, green tea EGCG inhibited the pro-inflammatory Th1 and Th17 cells, subsets of Th cells responsible for inducing autoimmunity, thus improving symptoms and reducing the pathology of autoimmune diseases.
Additionally, Dr. Wu D, the lead author said, "(The) protective effect EGCG is associated with the suppressed proliferation of autoreactive T cells, in reduced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines of Th1 and Th17, and increased T cell regulation populations in lymphoid tissues and central nervous system".
Further evaluation of green tea EGCG effect in regulated CD4(+) T helper (Th) subsets Th1, Th9, and Th17 cells conducted by the Tufts University, postulated that the phytochemical impeded Th1, Th9, and Th17 differentiation in exhibited inflammation by prevented IL-6(the pro-inflammatory cytokine)-induced suppression of Treg development.
More importantly, in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) rats, EGCG improved function of CD4(+) T cellsthe through modulated the expression of IL-6 induced cytokine(gp130) in response to autoimmune function and cellular response.
Taken together, the green tea process has a strong immunomodulating effect in reduced risk and treatment of autoinflammatory and immune disease, but long-term and large amounts of intake should be taken with care to prevent toxicity.

#Bromelain Processes Anti-Chronic Rhinosinusitis Property, According to Studies
Kyle J. Norton
Rhinosinusitis (RS) is a condition associated with the inflammation of the sinuses and nasal cavity.
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses that causes a headache as a result of exposure to a cold or flu virus, or an allergic reaction to pollen, mold, dust, or smoke.
Sinusitis affects 37 million people each year.
Other symptoms of RS include nasal congestion or obstruction, facial or dental pain, purulent rhinorrhea, postnasal drainage, headache, and cough.
Some patients may also experience symptoms of fever, fatigue, hyposmia, ear fullness or pressure, voice changes, epiphora, fever, and psychological effects, and fatigue.
If you have some of the above symptoms that last more than 12 weeks, you may have chronic rhinosinusitis,
If you experience some of the aforementioned symptoms without a cold or flu, you may have rhinosinusitis. Conventionally, most cases of bacterial rhinosinusitis (BRS) are treated by antibiotics.
In viral rhinosinusitis (VRS), medication focuses on reducing symptoms and improving quality of life.
Out of many risk factors involved in the onset of the condition, some researchers suggested that people with an immune deficiency may be vulnerable to rhinosinusitis developing.
Dr. Sergio E. Chiarella, the lead scientist wrote, "CRS is a common disease; in those patients with frequent exacerbations or who are refractory to treatment, an immunodeficiency evaluation should be considered. Treatment includes vaccination, antibiotic therapy, immunoglobulin replacement, and surgery".
More precisely, people who are using immune suppressants or weakened and immature immune systems are at an increased risk of rhinosinusitis.
Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapples (Ananas comosus) has been used in traditional medicine as an inflammatory agent and to treat pains, strains, muscle aches and pains and ease back pain and chronic joint pain, skin diseases, etc.
With an aim to find a natural compound for the treatment of an inflammatory condition associated with the sinuses and nasal cavity, researchers examined the bromelain effects on patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS).
40 patients including 20 patients were given bromelain 500 mg tablet twice daily for 30 days, and 20 controls enrolled in the study.
According to the observation in the turbinate and ethmoid mucosas and in the serum of both groups, bromelain showed significant anti-inflammatory activity in paranasal sinus pathologies.
In other words, the efficacy of bromelain anti-chronic rhinosinusitis was attributed to its function in distribution evenly in the sinuses and nasal cavity.
Taken altogether, bromelain may be considered supplement for the prevention and treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of bromelain in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#PhyticAcid Inhibits Proteins Associated with the Onset of #ProstateCancer, Scientists Suggest
Kyle J. Norton
Phytochemicals phytic acid may be the next-generation natural ingredient for the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer, some scientists found.
Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells grow and multiply disordered and uncontrollable way in our body.cells
As cancer continues proliferation, at certain stages it can damage other healthy tissues. Sometimes cancer cells can spread to other organs in the body via lymph or blood.
Prostate cancer is a medical condition caused by the alternation of the cell on the surface of the inner lining of the prostate tissue.
Most prostate cancers are slow-growing and enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be detected during physical (rectum) exams.
According to the statistic, approximately, 1 man in 9 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime and 6 cases in 10 are diagnosed in men aged 65 or older.
Prostate cancer shares common symptoms of an enlarged prostate, including frequent urination particularly at night, weak or interrupted urine flow, and erectile dysfunction.
Symptoms that are not found in enlarged prostate include blood in the urine and blood in the seminal fluid.
If you are experiencing some of the above symptoms, please check with your doctor to rule out the possibility of prostate cancer
The causes of prostate cancer are unknown. The increases with age, especially after age 50. family history. ethnicity, hereditary breast, and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndrome, and genetic proposition are some risks actors associated with the onset of the disease.
Some researchers suggested that a poor diet is one of the major risk factors found in patients with the disease.
Dr. Amir Bagher, the lead scientist evaluated the dietary patterns and risk of prostate cancer and wrote, "After adjustment for potential confounders, a healthy dietary pattern was associated with decreased risk of prostate cancer (highest versus lowest tertile OR:0.24; 95% CI: 0.07-0.81; trend p: 0.025). An unhealthy dietary pattern was related to increased risk of prostate cancer(highest versus lowest tertile OR:3.4; 95% CI: 1.09-10.32; trend p: 0.037)".
And, "an unhealthy dietary pattern was associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer. However, a healthy dietary pattern was associated with a decreased risk of prostate cancer".
The results strongly suggested that by following a healthy diet pattern, one can substantially reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
Phytic acid (Inositol hexaphosphate) are phytochemical of the organic acid found abundantly in nuts, sesame seeds, soybeans, wheat, pumpkin, beans, almonds, etc.
In finding a natural ingredient for the treatment of prostate cancer with no side effects, researchers assessed the effects of phytic acid (inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6)) on the activation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)-Akt pathway in promoting survival, proliferation, and angiogenesis in human prostate cancer cells.
In invasive human prostate cancer, PC-3 and C4-2B cells, IP6 treatment of cells suppressed proliferation, and induced apoptosis through protein associated with the apoptotic and cell death programming pathways.
Phytic acid also inhibited cancer cells through proteins associated with cancer cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, motility.
Furthermore, IP6 inhibited transcription and cell migration. through cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase.
Dr. Gu M, the lead scientist, after taking into account co and confounders said, " IP6 suppresses cell survival, proliferation, and angiogenesis but induces death in prostate cancer cells, which might have translational potential in preventing and controlling the growth of advanced and aggressive prostate cancer for which conventional chemotherapy is not effective".
In advanced and androgen-independent human PCa PC-3, Treatment of PC-3 cells with 2 mM IP6 strongly inhibited both growth and proliferation and decreased cell viability; similar effects were also observed in other human PCa DU145 and LNCaP cells.
IP6 also caused a strong apoptotic death of PC-3 cells through proteins associated with the activation of cell death programming and induced apoptosis.
The inhibition of the PC-3 cancer cell line by IP6 also is associated with the inhibition of the protein-involved cells proliferation, and differentiation, similar to that of the above study.
Interestingly, researchers also discovered that IP6 also inhibited the transcription factor activity in promoting cancer cell growth and reproduction, and regeneration
Where a transcription factor (TF) is a protein that controls the rate of transcription of genetic information from DNA to messenger RNA.
Taken al\\together, phytochemicals phytic acid may be considered a bioactive compound for the prevention and combined with the primary therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer.

#Honey Used Alone Or Combined with Conventional Medicines Process a Strong Anti-Influenza Virus Activity, Researchers Show
Kyle J. Norton
Scientists may have found a natural alternative for the treatment of Influenza, according to studies. Influenza, also known as the flu, is an infectious disease caused by an influenza virus.
The most common symptoms include high fever, runny nose, sore throat, muscle pains, headache, coughing, and sneezing. A healthy individual may recover from influenza without medication in a few days with the symptoms that may last for a week.
However, people with a weakened immune system may have a problem to recover themselves without the assistance of medication. In severe cases, influenza can induce complications of pneumonia, ear, and sinus infection, and death.
People with medical conditions such as heart, lung, kidney, liver disease, AIDs, and severe anemia are at a higher risk of the onset of influenza, particularly in the elderly with a weakened immune system.
Children and adolescents who are receiving long-term aspirin therapy are at risk of being infected by the virus.
Furthermore, some researchers suggested that obese individuals also are more likely to be infected by influenza, compared to non-obese individuals.
Dr. J Justin Milner, the lead scientist in examining the obesity and influenza infection severity said, "Obesity also increases susceptibility to bacterial and viral infections [2]. In 2009, the CDC identified obesity as a risk factor for hospitalization and death from pandemic H1N1 influenza virus infection".
And, "An association between obesity and severe influenza outcomes, including seasonal influenza, has since been corroborated in other epidemiological studies".
The finding strongly indicated the risk of influenza in obesity.
Honey is a miraculous product made by bees using nectar from flowers.
The rich golden liquid is considered one of healthy sweet foods for replacing the use of white sugar and artificial sweeteners by many people.
With an aim to find a natural whole food for the treatment of influenza, researchers examined the anti-influenza viral activity of honey from various sources.
Antiviral activities of honey samples were evaluated in MDCK cells. Injection of Manuka honey efficiently inhibited influenza virus replication (IC50 5 3.6 1.2 mg/mL; CC50 5 82.3 2.2 mg/mL; selective index 5 22.9).
Furthermore,. In the presence of 3.13 mg/mL manuka honey, the IC50 of zanamivir or oseltamivir was reduced to nearly 1/1000th of their single use.
The finding clearly suggested that Manuka honey processes a strong anti-influenza activity when used alone or by promoting the function of conventional medicine when used combinational.
Some researchers suggested that manuka also inhibited the symptoms of influenza such as blocked sinuses, sore throat and coughs through its major compound Methylglyoxal (MGO).
Moreover, Manuka honey also inhibited the production of proinflammatory cytokines during the acute phase of influenza, thus providing instant relief fa or a sore throat and cough.
In the immune perspective, Manuka honey also increased the expression of serum immunoglobulin G (IgG) which plays a critical role against the onset of infection by microorganisms.
Dr. Ogi M, the lead scientist after taking into account co and confounders said, "The relative risk for bacterial infection among patients with serum immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels below 600 mg/dL was 6.74 compared with that for patients with serum IgG levels over 600 mg/dL (95% confidence interval, 1.22 to 36.32; P = 0.029)"
And "In patients with serum creatinine levels over 2.0 mg/dL, the relative risk of bacterial infection was 5.31 compared with patients with serum creatinine levels below 2.0 mg/dL (95% confidence interval, 1.08 to 26.09; P = 0.040)".
The finding also suggested that Manuka honey also can modulate immune expression to prevent the infection caused by the influenza virus by increased production of immunoglobulin G.
Taken together, there is no doubt that Manuka honey can be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and treatment of influenza, pending the confirmation of a large sample size and multicenter human study.
