#Ginger Exerts #Gastroprotective Effects Through its Free Radical Scavenging, and Antioxidant Activities, According to Studies

Kyle J. Norton

Gastrointestinal disorders are medical conditions, involving the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and rectum.
Most common gastrointestinal disorders are very mild and associated with digestive discomforts that can be resolved in a few days.

The gastroprotective effect is an action that protects the gastrointestinal tract against the onset of any disease, including infection and inflammation.

The causes of digestive disorders can be multiple. Most gastrointestinal disorders are caused directly by the disorders of the digestive system such as poor diet patterns. However, long-term use of certain medications can also induce gastrointestinal disorders, including Manticholinergic medication, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and antibiotics.

In the searching, for a diet therapy that can reverse and protect the digestive system against gastrointestinal disorders, researchers at the University of Florida, wrote, "Diet therapy through the elimination of offending foods such as wheat gluten or lactose, or inclusion of specialized products such as medium chain triglycerides or elemental formulas, can sustain nutritional status".

And "Dietary components such as insoluble fiber appear to have physiologic effects, while soluble fibers may have metabolic effects important to diabetes and cardiovascular disease".

Additionally, in the differentiation of types of diet may have a direct contribution to reducing the risk of gastrointestinal disorders, the authors continued, "Avoiding offending foods by Crohn's patients is an acceptable practice as long as entire categories of foods are not deleted. Avoiding all foods containing gluten from wheat, rye, barley, and oats, however, is a crucial prerequisite to recovery from celiac disease. Gluten is commonly used as a stabilizer, emulsifier, and extender in the food industry and is not always shown on food labels. Careful consultation with a registered dietitian can identify hidden sources of gluten in the diet.".

These results clearly indicated, depending on the types of gastrointestinal disorders, diet therapy with modification could have a strong impact on the prevention of the onset of the disease.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.

The root has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine for the treatment of dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.

With an aim to find a natural whole food that processes gastrointestinal protective effects, researchers looked into rhizomes of Zingiber officinale Roscoe (Zingiberaceae), commonly known as ginger, an important kitchen spice, possessing myriad health benefits.

In laboratory animals., ginger was shown to be effective in preventing gastric ulcers induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [NSAIDs like indomethacin, aspirin], reserpine, ethanol, and acetic acid and Helicobacter pylori-induced gastric ulcerations.

The gastroprotective efficacy of ginger was attributed to its free radical scavenging, antioxidant; inhibition of lipid peroxidation activities.

Furthermore, in the evaluation of the gastroprotective effect to examine the turmeric (Curcuma longa) and ginger (Zingiber officianale), researchers conducted a study in the ethanol-induced ulcers animal model.

Selected rats were given 100, 500, and 1000 mg/kg body weight orally.

Application of TEO and GEO inhibited ulcers caused by the injection of ethanol by 84.7% and 85.1%, respectively, as seen from the ulcer index.

The reduced antioxidant enzymes such as GPx, SOD, catalase, and GSH produced by alcohol administration were significantly (p<0.001) increased by simultaneous administration of TEO and GEO.

Ethanol-induced lesions such as necrosis, erosion, and hemorrhage of the stomach wall were significantly reduced after oral administration of essential oils.

These results strongly suggested turmeric and ginger exerted a significant gastroprotective effect against gastrointestinal lesions with no side effects.

Taken altogether, ginger may be considered functional for the prevention and combined with primary medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders,

#Phytochemical #Alliin Inhibits the Hypercholesterolemia Associated with Atherosclerotic Disorders, Researchers Show

Kyle J. Norton

Hypercholesterolemia is a condition characterized by abnormally high levels of cholesterol in the bloodstream.
In other words, the condition is a result caused by either overexpression of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL).

Cholesterol, a waxy substance produced by the liver or the dietary in moderate amount source plays critical to aid digestive function in absorbing nutrients, build strong cell membranes, produce steroid hormones and vitamin D. However, excessive amounts in the blood have been found to induce plaque built-up on the arterial wall, leading to heart disease and stroke.

Similar to high blood pressure, people with hypercholesterolemia are asymptomatic. In patients with familial hyper cholesterol may experience symptoms of chest pain with activity. xanthomas, and cholesterol deposits around the eyelids.

According to the statistics provided by the CDC, hypercholesterolemia is a major risk factor of heart disease, a leading cause of death in the US. In the US, approximately, 71 million American adults (33.5%) have high low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad,” cholesterol. and only 1 out of every 3 adults with high LDL cholesterol has the condition under control.

Sadly, only 50% of people with hypercholesterolemia are getting treatment.

Out of many risk factors associated with the risk of hypercholesterolemia, some researchers suggested that the widespread obesity due to the promotion of a high-fat diet over the past few decades may have a strong impact on the increased incidence in the US.

Dr. Jeannie Chan, the lead scientist wrote, "ApoE deficient mice, generated by gene targeting, have a lipoprotein profile similar to humans in that most of the plasma cholesterol is carried on VLDL and IDL particles rather than HDL particles as in non-genetically modified mice. ApoE-/- mice have elevated levels of plasma cholesterol even on a chow diet and develop atherosclerotic lesions spontaneously. Advanced lesions with plaque rupture that resemble those in humans have frequently been observed in apoE-/- mice fed an HCHF diet, and these mice are used for developing drugs to reduce atherosclerosis".

In other words, a high-fat diet promoted the genes associated with cholesterol secretion.

With an aim to find a potential ingredient for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, researchers evaluated the capacity of Allium ursinum (wild garlic) leaf lyophilisate (WGLL; alliin content: 0.261%) to mitigate cardiovascular damage in hypercholesterolemic rabbits.

New Zealand rabbits selected for the study were divided into three groups: (i) cholesterol-free rabbit chow (control); (ii) rabbit chow containing 2% cholesterol (hypercholesterolemic, HC); (iii) rabbit chow containing 2% cholesterol + 2% WGLL (hypercholesterolemic treated, HCT); for eight weeks.

According to the Western blot analysis, WGLL protected the heart by improving aortic and coronary flow.

WGLL was also found to inhibit atherosclerotic plaque coverage.

Furthermore, WGLL also reduced the risk of hypercholesteremia by significantly reducing the plasma levels of low-density lipoprotein.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "The results clearly demonstrate that WGLL has complex cardioprotective effects, suggesting future strategies for its use in prevention and therapy for atherosclerotic disorders".

Taken altogether, alliin may be considered a supplement for the prevention and treatment of heart disease associated with hypercholesterolemia, depending on the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of alliin in the form of a supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

#Emodin (ED) Found in #Herbal #CascaraSagrada Shows A Significant Effect on #ProstateCancer Cell Migration and Invasion, Researcher Suggest

Kyle J. Norton

Prostate cancer is a condition characterized by abnormal cell growth in prostate tissue.
Most cases of prostate cancer start in the cells on the surface of the inner lining of the prostate tissue.

Most prostate cancers are slow growing. Enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be detected during the Physical (rectum) exams.

Contrary to popular belief, as of today, prostate cancer is no longer a disease of aging males, it has a tendency to affect the younger age population, particularly that of the age group 20 -40.

According to the statistic, most men diagnosed with prostate cancer survive or died due to another disease instead of prostate cancer. In the US, approximately over 2.9 million men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point are still alive today.

Also, 1 man in 9 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime and the disease is the most common cancer in American men.

Researchers do not know the exact causes of prostate cancer. Epidemiological studies suggested age, family history, being obese or obese, genetic preposition, particularly a poor diet with high saturated and trans fat, red meat and processed food, and low fruits and vegetables and whole grain are associated twitho the onset of prostate cancer.

Some researchers suggested ethnicity is a predictor involved in the development of the disease due to a number of genetic mutations.

Dr. P Kheirandish said, "It is recognized that the risk of prostate cancer is higher in black men than in white men worldwide" and "...Compares data from the United States (US), which suggest that African-American men have a 60% higher risk for developing prostate cancer with poorer prognosis in comparison with their white counterparts, with similar studies carried out in the United Kingdom (UK) and also in African and Caribbean countries".

The results clearly proposed if you are black man, you are associated with a substantially higher risk of prostate cancer. However, if you follow a healthy diet and lifestyle, your risk of prostate can be reduced compared to other men in the same race group.

Cascara sagrada is a species of buckthorn, genus Rhamnus, belonging to the family Rhamnaceae, native to western North America.

The herbal medicine bark has been used in traditional medicine for gastrointestinal support. and it is thought to have a laxative and natural cleansing, etc..

The chemical constituents of Cascara Sagrada include Aloe-emodin, Anthrquinone glycosides (Barbaloin Cascarosides A, B, C and D ChrysaloinFrangul), Chrysophanol, Emodin, Heterodianthrones palmitin A, B, and C, dianthrones, Oxanthrone, Rhein, Tannins, etc.

The Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, in the concern of mTOR Complex 2, a protein complex that regulates cellular metabolism that may involve in the stimulation of the onset of prostate cancer, examined the effect of Aloe-emodin natural compound found in Cascara Sagrada and Aloe effect in prostate cancer cell line PC3.

Treatment of Aloe-emodin inhibited both proliferation and anchorage-independent growth of PC3 cells through a number of mechanisms, including the regulation of cellular metabolism, proliferation, and migration.as well as tumor-promoting.

Furthermore, in vivo in an athymic nude mouse model, injection of Aloe-emodin also exhibited tumor suppression effects.

The finding strongly suggested Aloe-emodin suppresses prostate cancer progression by targeting mTORC2, a protein complex that plays an important role in prostate cancer development.

The examination of Emodin (ED), an anthraquinone derivative found in Cascara Sagrada effect in inhibiting the proliferation, inducing apoptosis, suppressing angiogenesis, impeding metastasis, and enhancing chemotherapy, researchers investigated the mechanism of ED related to the regulation of gene expression that affects cell migration and invasion in prostate cells.

In CXCR4/CXCL12 gene expression, involved in promoting invasion and metastasis in prostate tumors, injection of ED reduced the cancer proliferation and metastasis by inhibiting the CXCR4 expression.

Futhermore, researchers discovered, ED also reduced the expression of HER2 without affecting cell viability in tumor cells.

Moreover, The suppression of CXCR4 expression by ED was found to correlate with the inhibition of CXCL12-induced migration and invasion of DU145, a human prostate cancer cell line.

In additional differentiation of the efficacy of ED, researchers also found the inhibition of the expression of CXCR4 was associated with the mRNA expression through a protein (NF-κB ) which controls the transcription of DNA, cytokine production, and cell survival.

Dr.Ok S, the lead researcher wrote in the final report, "ED is a novel blocker of CXCR4 expression and, thus, has enormous potential as a powerful therapeutic agent for metastatic cancer".

Taken altogether, Herbal Cascara Sagrada (Rhamnus purshiana) processed bioactive compound Aloe emodin and emodin may be considered a functional herb for the prevention and combined with other primary medicine for the treatment of prostate cancer.

#Herbal #ArtichokeTubers Improve the Balance of the Gut Microbiota in Vivos, Researchers Say

Kyle J. Norton

Gut microbiota is a complex community with over a trillion microorganisms that live in our digestive tracts.
In healthy individuals, the ratio of good and bad microorganisms is balanced. In other words, healthy gut microbiota levels maintain the structure and function of the gastrointestinal tract.

In fact, a balanced ratio of gut microbiota plays a critical role in the digestion of certain foods that the stomach and small intestine have not been able to digest, in the production of vitamins, improvement of digestive functioning, and modulation of the immune function.

The use of antibiotics has been found to damage the gut ecosystem, leading to certain chronic illnesses such as inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, cancer, and autism.

Further, the unbalanced ratio of gut microbiota functions also alters immune homeostasis, leading to the onset of autoimmune disorders which in turn can affect the development of not only intestinal but also systemic autoimmune diseases.

Compared to probiotics, prebiotics is compound in food that induce the growth or activity of beneficial microorganisms in the gut.

In other definition, it is a special form of dietary fiber that acts as a fertilizer that promotes the growth of good bacteria in your gut.

In the gastrointestinal tract, prebiotics can alter the composition of organisms in the gut microbiome.

In other words, prebiotics raises the levels of healthy bacteria against bad bacteria.

Artichoke is a perennial thistle of Cynara cardunculus species of the Cynara genus, belonging to the family Carduoideae native to Southern Europe around the Mediterranean.

The herbal plant has been used in traditional medicine as a liver protective and detoxified agent, and to treat digestive disorders, abdominal pain gas and bloating, etc.

Researchers in the finding of a natural therapy that promotes probiotics examined the artichoke preparation on microbiota ecology and immune status.

The study included 48 piglets divided into 6 groups (n = 8), which received from day 10 of life probiotic-unsupplemented (PU) or probiotic-supplemented (PS, containing 0.5 g/kg diet and contained: Lactococcus lactis, Carnobacterium divergens, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae) diets.

The PU and PS diets were formulated without prebiotic addition (control) or with the addition of 2% of inulin from chicory root (IN) or 4% of dried Jerusalem artichoke tubers (DJA).

Feeding DJA diets showed to improve the balance of the gut microbiota by increasing the caecal valeric acid level, and decreasing the concentration of isoacids in the colon,

Furthermore, DJA diets also reduced β-glucosidase and β-glucuronidase activity-induced gut toxicity in the middle colon and increased Bifidobacterium spp. populations in the proximal and distal colon.

These results suggested that DJA modified the microbiota ecology in the large intestine of young pigs to a greater extent as a prebiotic.

Taken altogether, artichoke may be considered a functional remedy as a prebiotic for the treatment of patients with unbalanced gut microbiota with no side effects, pending the validation of a larger sample size and multicenter human study.

#Herbal #Andrographis inhibits the Risk of #Colitis by Reduced Inflammatory Markers, and Pro-Inflammatory Expression in Vivos

Kyle J. Norton

Herbal Andrographis may have potential and profound effects in reducing risk and treatment of colitis with no side effects, scientists suggested
Colitis is a condition of inflammation of the large intestine, including the colon, caecum, and rectum.

There are a number of causes of the disease, including infection, inflammatory bowel disease, and allergic reactions.

Other types of colitis include
* Microscopic colitis is a condition referred to as collagenous colitis and lymphocytic colitis, two related medical conditions which cause diarrhea.

* Ischemic colitis, another colon infection that may also go away with a mild treatment, such as a short-term liquid diet and antibiotics.

If you are experiencing some of the symptoms such as persistent abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, dehydration, selling of joints, eye inflammation, and fever or chill, you may have colitis. Please check with your doctor to rule out the possibility of the disease.

Dr. Winther KV in the study to examine the survival and cause-specific mortality in ulcerative colitis, including 1160 patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis between 1962 and 1987 was followed up until 1997 to describe survival and cause-specific mortality.

During that span, a total of 261 deaths occurred, not significantly different from the expected number of 249 (SMR, 1.05; 95% CI, 0.92-1.19). The median age at death among men was 70 years (range, 6-96 years), and among women 74 years (range, 25-96 years).

The mortality was increased in patients with pulmonary embolism and pneumonia.

The doctor team wrote, in the final report, "Despite an overall normal life expectancy for patients with ulcerative colitis, patients >50 years of age and with extensive colitis at diagnosis had increased mortality within the first 2 years after diagnosis, owing to colitis-associated postoperative complications and comorbidity".

The results clearly suggested that patients with colitis are at increased risk to die due to the complication of other diseases, particularly, in the first 2 years of diagnosis.

Andrographis paniculata also known as Andrographis is a herbaceous plant, genus Andrographis, belonging to the family Acanthaceae, native to India and Sri Lanka.

The plant has been used in traditional Siddha and Ayurvedic in treating the common cold, flu, upper respiratory infections, infectious diseases, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, pneumonia, swollen lymph nodes, leprosy, bronchitis, sore throats, tuberculosis, chicken pox, etc.

In order to reaffirm the use of extracts of the plant Andrographis paniculata anti-inflammatory diseases in Asian countries, researchers examined the effects of HMPL-004 (A. paniculata extract) against colitis in mice model induced by injection of methylcellulose (MC).

Before the application of HMPL-004, mice treated with MC developed colitis within 4-7 weeks, accompanied by weight gain and severe intestinal inflammation.

HMPL-004-treated mice inhibited losing weight and displayed only very mild intestinal inflammation.

The inflammatory cytokines caused by the injection of MC also significantly decreased after the treatment of HMPL-004.

Higher percentages of naïve CD4(+) T cells in the lamina propria of HMPL-004-treated mice compared to MC mice.

Furthermore, at the early time points HMPL-004-treated mice have significantly reduced splenic cell counts, reduced inflammatory markers, and reduced pro-inflammatory expression.

Moreover, HMPL-004 inhibited the proliferation of CD4 T cells that cause immune response differentiation into TH1/TH17 cells that have the capacity to cause inflammation and autoimmune disease in vitro.

The results firmly suggested that HMPL-004 has a potential effect on inflammatory diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel disease, and colitis.

The research team in the final report wrote, "HMPL-004 inhibits the development of chronic colitis by affecting early T-cell proliferation, differentiation, and TH(1)/TH(17) responses in a T-cell-driven model of colitis, presenting a unique mechanism of action".

Also, Hutchison Medipharma Ltd. in a recent randomized, double-blind, multicentre, 8-week parallel-group study of HMPL-004, to learn more about the anti-inflammatory activity examined the Andrographis paniculata extract against mild to moderate ulcerative colitis (UC).

Compared to 16% and 82% efficacy of 4500 mg/day of slow-release mesalazine (mesalamine) granules in patients with mild-to-moderately active ulcerative colitis, application of HMPL-004 exerted a more tenant effect on 21% and 76%, respectively.

By colonoscopy, remission, and response were seen in 28% and 74% of HMPL-004-treated patients and 24% and 71% of mesalazine-treated patients, respectively.

The finding strongly supported HMPL-004 as an efficacious alternative to mesalazine in ulcerative colitis.

Taken altogether, herbal Andrographis may be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and treatment of colitis, pending the confirmation of a large sample size and multicenter human study.

#Curcumins Found in #Turmeric Inhibit the Parameters Associated with the Risk of #CardiovascularDisease, Researchers Say

Kyle J. Norton

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) refers to any conditions caused by the underlying damage of blood vessels and the heart.
In other words, depending on the location of the blockage or disruption, CVD can be coronary artery disease (CAD) such as angina, myocardial infarction (commonly known as a heart attack) or stroke.

According to the statistics provided by the American Heart Association, approximately 84 million people in the US suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease, leading to the death of about 2,200 people a day.

The exact causes of CVD are not identified. however, the most prevalent factors that cause CVD are aging, family history, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, being overweight, and smoking.

Epidemiological studies suggested that most people with CVD are also associated with atherosclerosis, a condition caused by long-term plaque buildup on artery walls, which can narrow the arteries and reduce blood flow through the arteries to the heart.

Some researchers suggested the promotion of the Western diet over the past few decades may have a strong implication for the rise of CVD.

Dr. Mirmiran P, the lead scientist, in the examination of the diet pattern and the risk of CVD in Iran, said, "During a mean 4.7 ± 1.4 years of follow-up, 57 participants experienced CVD-related events. In the fully adjusted model, we observed an increased risk of CVD-related events in the highest compared to the lowest tertile category of Western dietary pattern score (HR = 2.07, 95% CI = 1.03-4.18, P for trend = 0.01)".

And "the Western dietary pattern, characterized by higher loads of processed meats, salty snacks, sweets, and soft drinks, is a dietary risk factor for CVD in the Iranian population".

The results strongly indicated the increased risk of CVD in people who follow the Western diet pattern.

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.
In the urgency to discover a potential compound for the treatment of cardiovascular disease (CVD) associated with the largest mortality worldwide, scientists examined the cardiovascular protective properties of curcumin in CVDs.

According to the review, curcumin showed significant activity against the onset of CVDs, including cardiac hypertrophy, heart failure, drug-induced cardiotoxicity, myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, stroke, and diabetic cardiovascular complications.

In dyslipidemia, an important and common cardiovascular risk factor in the general population, researchers assessed the efficacy and safety of turmeric and curcumin in lowering blood lipids in patients at risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), through searching the database of medical literature.

The comprehensive literature search conducted on PubMed, Embase, Ovid, Medline, and Cochrane Library databases was to identify randomized controlled trials (published as of November 2016).

Based on the results of 7 eligible studies (649 patients) that satisfied the guideline and criteria, researchers found that
* Turmeric and curcumin significantly reduced serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels as compared to those in the control group.

* Turmeric and curcumin also were effective in lowering serum total cholesterol (TC), levels in patients with metabolic syndrome.

* Turmeric extract has a greater effect on reducing serum TC levels compared to curcumin.

* Both turmeric and curcumin did not improve the serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).

* More importantly, turmeric and curcumin are safe, and no serious adverse events were reported in any of the included studies.

Dr. Qin S, the lead researcher wrote, "Turmeric and curcumin may protect patients at risk of CVD through improving serum lipid levels. Curcumin may be used as a well-tolerated dietary adjunct to conventional drugs".

Taken altogether, turmeric and its bioactive compound curcumin may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, pending the confirmation of a larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of curcumin in the form of a supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Good news to all pregnant mothers' yoga participants, attending yoga lessons may improve the physical and mental health of both mother and fetus as well as reduced risk and management of prenatal depression, the renowned joint study suggested.

Yoga is an ancient practical technique of India, including breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture,..... with an aim to achieve harmonization of the body, mind, and spirit.

Depression is a normal response as part of our daily lives such as the loss of s job, the death of a loved one, and illness. Over 30 million Americans suffer from depression and the amount is increasing at an alarming rate. Depression may be a mental health disorder that can affect the way you eat, sleep, and the way you feel about yourself.

According to the Second Military Medical University, in a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conducted by searching PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and PsycINFO from all retrieved articles, the yoga participant group showed significantly reduced levels of depression.

In comparison (SMD, -0.46; CI, -0.90 to -0.03; p = 0.04) to the controlled group to non-depressed women (SMD, -0.87; CI, -1.22 to -0.52; p < 0.00001) and depression women group, in compared to control, yoga group expressed a statistically significant lower of depression, particularly in depressive symptoms of prenatally depressed women.

Dr. Gong H the lead researcher of the joint study said, "There were two kinds of yoga: the physical-exercise-based yoga and integrated yoga, which, besides physical exercises, included pranayama, meditation or deep relaxation. " and " the level of depression was significantly decreased in the integrated yoga group (SMD, -0.79; CI, -1.07 to -0.51; p < 0.00001) but not significantly reduced in physical-exercise-based yoga group (SMD, -0.41; CI, -1.01 to -0.18; p = 0.17)".

Additionally, a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing a prenatal yoga intervention to perinatal-focused health education in pregnant women with depression, also suggested that although both groups experience the same efficacy in reduced symptoms of depression, participants favored yoga.

In another larger-scale RCT, the prenatal yoga group also experienced a remarkable improvement of mood during pregnancy.

Furthermore, a 10-week prenatal yoga program for antenatal depression, accompanying yoga instructors' manual of 34 depressed pregnant women from the community, also indicated that prenatal yoga intervention significantly decreased the severity of participants' depression.

According to the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, prenatal yoga may be the best solution in addressing prenatal depression, as they are acceptable and favorable by most of the participants.

Taking all together, yoga lessons no doubt can be used as an integrated form of exercise in reduced risk and management of prenatal depression, especially for pregnant women with the previous syndrome.
