Phytochemical Betacyanins Protects the Cell Integrity Against Cancers

By Kyle J. Norton

Cancer is a class of disease characterized by cell growth disorderly and uncontrollably in the tissues and organs.

Most common cancers are
* Breast cancer, accounting for 25.4% of the total number of new cases diagnosed in 2018.

Breast cancer starts in the tissues of the breast either from the inner lining of milk ducts (Ductal carcinoma) or the lobules (Lobular carcinoma) that supply the ducts with milk. there are also rare cases that breast cancer starts in other areas of the breast.  The risk of getting invasive breast cancer during the lifetime of women is 1/8.

Luckily, the 5 years survival rate of localized breast cancer is about 100%.

* Colorectal cancer and lung cancers are the second and third most common cancers, accounting to 43.9% of all cancers, excluding non-melanoma skin cancer.

Colorectal cancer is cancer in the colon, rectum, or vermiform appendix. Colorectal cancer is relatively very common and slowly growing and progressing cancer.

The 5-year survival rate of the localized stage of colorectal cancer is about 90%.

Lung cancer is a condition of the abnormal growth of the cells in the lung's tissue. Most common form of primary lung cancers is derived from epithelial cells.

Lung cancer can also be classified into
* Non-small cell lung cancer
Non-small cell lung cancer is the most common type of lung cancer. It usually grows and spreads methodically and predictably.

* Small cell lung cancer
Small cell lung cancer is a fast-growing type of lung cancer, it can spread to distant parts of the body in a relatively early stage.

The overall 5-year survival rate of lung cancer is about 60%.

Betacyanins are phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.

In the finding, the health benefits of Betacyanins, researchers compared the effect of green beet (Beta vulgaris var. cicla L.) and red beetroot (B. vulgaris var. Rubra L.) phytochemicals that benefit the human health.

According to the chemical analysis, green beet contains apigenin, vitexin, vitexin-2-O-xyloside, and vitexin-2-O-rhamnoside, compared to the red beetroot as a source of betaxanthins and betacyanins.

All phytochemicals found in green and red beet show a considerable antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiproliferative activities.

In cancer perspective, vitexin-2-O-xyloside combined with betaxanthins and betacyanins, exerts a significant antiproliferative activity in breast, liver, colon, and bladder cancer cell lines, through the induction of cancer cells apoptosis.

Additionally, betacyanins and other phytochemicals found in the green and red beet inhibited the pro-survival and anti-apoptotic genes, modulated proteins associated with angiogenesis.

Moreover, betaxanthins and betacyanins used in combination with conventional anticancer drugs were found to reduce the chemo drug toxicity and overcome the multidrug resistance of cancer cells.

Based on the finding, researchers concluded betacyanins ma be yused alone or combined with other phytochemicals or chemo drug to block the onset of the proliferation of tumor cells.

Taken altogether, betacyanins may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of betacyanins in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Navy Bean, the best for the Treatment of Metabolic Syndrome, Particularly in Men

By Kyle J. Norton

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of health problems included too much fat around the waist, elevated blood pressure, high triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, and low HDL cholesterol that increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.

More precisely,
*Too much fat around the waist is a condition found in people who eat too much of carbohydrates and exercise too little, leading to the gain of weight around the waist.

* High blood pressure or hypertension
Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. High blood pressure means raising the pressure in your heart. If the condition stays high over time,  it can damage the body in many ways.

High blood pressure can be preventable. Some researchers suggested if you can control your diet,  making changes to lifestyle, and maintaining an ideal weight, you could do just fine without the drugs.

* High blood cholesterol or hyperlipidemia occurs when the excess cholesterol that use to build cell walls, make hormones and vitamin D and create bile salts to help you digest fat cannot be returned to the liver caused by either over-expression of low-density lipoprotein (HLD) or low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HLD).
* High blood glucose or hyperglycemia found in diabetics occurs when the blood glucose level is too high caused by either insufficient levels of insulin produced by the body or inability of the body to use insulin properly, leading to the rise of blood sugar.

* High blood triglycerides
Triglycerides stored in the fat cells is a result of the body that converts extra calories that don't need to use right away into triglycerides.

High blood triglyceride is a condition of over-expression fat in the blood. Most common causes of high blood triglycerides are physically inactive, eating foods that are high in fat and sugar, processed food and red meat and long-term excessive alcohol drinking.

Some medication such as medicines used for the treatment of breast cancer, high blood pressure, HIV, may also raise blood triglycerides.

In other words, if you have 3 of the aforementioned conditions, your metabolic risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes are considered higher compared to those who do not.

The small, white navy bean, also called pea bean or haricot, popular in both dry and green forms, is very popular in Britain and the US, native to Peru. It is now grown and consumed across the world, due to their numerous health benefits.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of metabolic syndrome, researchers determined the effect of commercially available ready-to-eat canned navy beans added to the habitual diet on risk factors associated with obesity.

The experiment included 14 overweight and obese adults consumed 5 cups of canned navy beans per week for 4 weeks.

Based on the tested results,
* Bean consumption over the period reduced waist circumference in females by 2.5 cm and males by 2.1 cm (P < 0.001).

* The pulse rate, total cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) were also reduced but sex-dependent. More precisely, in males, pulse rate, TC, and LDL were decreased by 6.5%, 11.5%, and 18%, respectively. In females, the pulse rate increased by 9.6%, and TC and LDL were relatively unchanged.

These results strongly suggested that navy bean has a strong implication in decreasing the risk of the metabolic syndrome in male compared to female.

* Furthermore, levels of glucose also showed a trend of decreasing in response to a glucose load.

After taking other factors into account, Dr. Luhovyy BL, the lead scientist said, "consuming 5 cups per week of ready-to-eat canned navy beans for 4 weeks reduces metabolic risk factors associated with obesity and therefore can be used as a tool in dietetic practice".

Taken altogether, Navy bean used alone or combined with conventional medicine may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of metabolic risk, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Turmeric Improves the Symptoms and Quality of Life in Patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome

By Kyle J. Norton

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic condition that affects the large intestine.

Most common symptoms of IBS include abdominal cramping and pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation.

In severe cases, patients may also experience symptoms of urinary or sexual problems.

If you have the aforementioned symptoms persistently without signs of healing, please check with your doctors to rule out the possibility.

As of today, researchers do not know the exact cause of IBS. However, they do know that being a woman, smoking, frequent alcohol consumption, younger age, psychological and physical stress, are most susceptible to the onset of the disease.

Believe it or not, most people with some of the risk factors have never had IBS.

Treatment of IBS is focusing on reduced symptoms and depending on the types of symptoms including change of diet with food that has a slow the movement of food through the digestive system, antibiotics for an infection.

According to statistics, in the US, approximately 25 and 45 million. Americans are affected by IBS. Most of them are women in the late teens and the early 40s.

Dr. Anamaria Cozma-Petruţ, the lead scientist in the evaluation of the dietary effect on IBS, wrote, "Despite the limited evidence for a beneficial role, general advice on healthy eating and lifestyle is recommended as the first-line approach in the dietary management of IBS".

And, "Standard recommendations include adhering to a regular meal pattern, reducing intake of insoluble fibers, alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and fat, as well as performing regular physical activity and ensuring good hydration. The second-line dietary approach should be considered where IBS symptoms persist and recommendations include following a low FODMAP diet".
The results clearly suggested that IBS can be managed by eating a recommended diet or diet delivered only by a healthcare professional with expertise in dietary management.

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of irritable bowel disease, researchers examined the efficacy of bio-optimized extracts of turmeric and essential fennel oil (Enterofytol®) in IBS patients.

The study total included a total of 211 patients (14% diarrhea-predominant, IBS-D; 24% constipation-predominant, IBS-C; 62% mixed, IBS-M) enrolled by general practitioners and completed questionnaires measuring symptom severity and QoL before and after Enterofytol®, two capsules b.i.d. for one month, followed by two capsules q.d. for another month.

After taking other factors into account, researchers found that Enterofytol® not only improved the quality of life of the participants but also reduced the IBS severity index, particularly in IBS-D patients with the worst clinical picture at entry, with the highest IBS severity index and the lowest QoL score, compared with IBS-C and IBS-M subtypes. IBS-D patients.

Furthermore, also compared to other subgroups, IBS-D patients with the worst clinical picture at entry also showed the most pronounced response to therapy, considering both scores.

Moreover, Enterofytol® efficacy in the improvement in the IBS severity index was independent of age and sex.

Based on the findings, researchers wrote in the final report, "the combination of turmeric and essential fennel oil over two months improves both symptoms and QoL in IBS patients, irrespectively of age, sex, initial severity of symptoms and IBS-subtypes".

According to the joint experiment to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of a combination of curcumin and fennel essential oil (CU-FEO) in IBS symptoms relief in a total of 121 patients with mild-to-moderate symptoms of IBS defined by an Irritable Bowel Syndrome- symptom severity score (IBS-SSS) 100-300 and abdominal pain score 30-70 on a 100 mm Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), randomly assigned to CU-FEO or placebo (2 capsules b.d. for 30 days), conducted led by the University Medical School, 30 days of treatment of CU-FEO resulted in symptom relief in patients with IBS.

Moreover, CU-FEO showed a significant decrease in the mean relative IBS-SSS at the same time frame without inducing any adverse effects.

At the end of the study, 25.9 % treated with CU-FEO were symptoms free compared to only 6.8& in the placebo group.

Additonally, all domains of IBS-QoL in the CU-FEO treatment group improved consistently.

In other words, CU-FEO only reduced abdominal pain but also all the other symptoms of IBS-SSS over 30 days.

Taken altogether, turmeric combined with other herbal remedies may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of irritable bowel disease, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Healthy Food Onion, the Best Natural Anti-Hyperlipidemic Food

By Kyle J. Norton

Hyperlipidemia or high blood cholesterol is a medical condition characterized by abnormally high levels of lipids in the blood.

Cholesterol produced by the liver plays an essential role in moderate amount in orchestrating the production of steroid hormone and vitamin D,  building strong cell walls and aiding the digestive system in absorbing nutrients and fluids.

There are 2 types of blood cholesterol
* The high-density lipoprotein is also known as good cholesterol processes a function to return cholesterol to the liver.

* The low-density lipoprotein is also known as "bad" cholesterol processed a function aforementioned health benefits in moderate amount.

In a healthy individual, unused cholesterol is returned to the liver. However, overexpression of "bad" cholesterol due to the consumption of a high-fat diet and reduced levels of "good" cholesterol can cause bad cholesterol remaining in the bloodstream, leading to hyperlipidemia.

The healthy ratio of total blood cholesterol ("bad"/ "good") is any numbers that are less than 4.

Patients with yperlipidemia are assymptomatic. However, over time hyperlipidemia can cause plaque accumulated on the arterial wall, that causes atherosclerosis, a leading cause of heart disease and stroke.

According to the statistics provided by the CDC, in 2015–2016, more than 12% of adults age 20 and older had total cholesterol higher than 240 mg/dL, and more than 18% had high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good”) cholesterol levels less than 40 mg/dL in the US.

Believe it or not, hyperlipidemia, the life-long condition is treatable. By a change of diet and daily moderate exercise, you may control the condition without medication.

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belonging to the family Alliaceae, a close relation of garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild or sweet.

With an aim to find a potential and natural compound for the prevention and treatment hyperlipidemia, researchers examined the antihyperlipidemic and antioxidative potentials of onion (Allium cepa L.) extract fermented with a novel Lactobacillus casei HD-010.

Onion oral administration on ApoE-deficient mice, compared to bezafibrate (10 mg/kg, bw/day) as a positive control, showed a significant reduction of the levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride (TG), and cholesterol.

Also, compared to the positive control, onion group displayed increased levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL).

Furthermore, the levels of HMG-CoA reductase associated with the production of good cholesterol was increased by 20% in the fermented onion-treated group at 100 mg/kg.

Moreover, Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein (CETP) enzyme associated with moving cholesterol esters and triglycerides between VLDL, LDL, and HDL. LowerCETP levels promote HDL formation was inhibited by injection of onion compared to the control group.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "These results suggest that fermented onion has a preventive/therapeutic effect on the hyperlipidemic disease. It might have potential to be developed as a functional food".

In order to reveal more about the information about onion anti-hyperlipidemic activity, researchers evaluated the effects of raw red onion consumption on metabolic features in overweight and obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

The randomized controlled clinical trial, included a total of 54) patients randomly allocated to the intervention group as 'high-onion' (raw red onions: 2 × 40-50 g/day if overweight and 2 × 50-60 g/day if obese) or to the control group as 'low-onion' (raw red onions: 2 × 10-15 g/day) along with limited liliaceous vegetables for 8 weeks.

According to the tested analysis, onion administration significantly decreased the levels of total cholesterol in the high-onion group compared to the low-onion group.

Particularly, levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased significantly in the high-onion group, compared to the low-onion group after treatment.

However, levels of triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and lipoprotein did not differ significantly after 8-week onion treatment.

These results strongly suggested that raw red onion consumption is effective in lower cholesterol in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Healthy Food Onion, A Natural Prevention and Treatment of Insulin Resistance

By Kyle J. Norton

Insulin Resistance is a hallmark of diabetes characterized by the inability of the body to use the insulin produced by the pancreas properly.

In other words, signals sent out by the hormone insulin was ignored by the cell of the muscles, body fat, and liver that process the function to convert glucose into energy.

Epidemiologically, people with insulin resistance are associated with an increased risk of prediabetes, type 2 diabetes and chronic conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, and cancer.

Most cases of insulin resistance in the Western world are involved in the clogged up insulin receptors.
As the signals of hormone insulin are blocked, insulin resistance develops, leading to more production of insulin by the body.

Over time insulin resistance that leads to damage of the beta cell in the pancreas, an early condition of prediabetes and types 2 diabetes.

According to the US statistics, approximately, 60 to 70 million individuals are affected by insulin resistance with 40% of individuals older than 50 years may be at risk for insulin resistance.

Most common risk factors associated with insulin resistance are obesity and hypertension. However, some researchers suggested that the rise of insulin resistance in the US may be correlated to the promotion of a high-fat diet over the past few decades.

Dr. Merat S, the lead scientist wrote, " Contrary to expectation, IR was induced in mice fed the Western diet,,,. The Western diet group had higher average glucose levels (187+/-16 versus 159+/-12 mg/dL) and 4.5-fold higher plasma insulin levels".

With an aim to find a potential and natural compound for the prevention and treatment insulin resistance, researchers examined the effects of red onions and low doses of the flavonoid, quercetin, increase insulin sensitivity and improve glucose tolerance on an animal model.

The study included a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity and insulin resistance in C57BL/6J mice that randomly assigned to into groups, fed either a low-fat diet (LF), HFD (HF), HFD + quercetin (HF + Q), or HFD + RO (HF + RO) for 9 weeks.

According to the tested assays, quercetin and RO supplementation decreased HFD-induced fat mass accumulation and insulin resistance (measured by insulin tolerance test) and increased energy expenditure.

Comapred to RO group, HF + Q showed an increase in physical activity levels.

Furthermore, quercetin and RO similarly increased skeletal muscle mitochondrial numbers associated with insulin sensitivity and decreased beta-oxidation, a metabolic process involving multiple steps by which fatty acid molecules are broken down to produce energy.

In other words, quercetin- and RO-induced improvements in insulin resistance, and energy expenditure through differential mechanisms as mentioned above.

In the countering doxorubicin-induced insulin resistance in breast cancer treatment,
researchers investigated the onion effect on 56 eligible BC patients (aged 30-63 years), diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma.

The intervention of a parallel-design, randomized, triple-blind, controlled clinical trial included subjects assigned in a stratified-random allocation to receive body mass index-dependent 100 to 160 g/d of onion as high onion group (HO; n = 28) or 30 to 40 g/d small onions in low onion group (LO; n = 28) for 8 weeks intervention, following their second cycle of chemotherapy.

In 23 cases complete the study in both groups
* The daily use of HO demonstrated a significant decrease in serum fasting blood glucose and insulin levels compared to LO, over the period of study.

* Posttreatment with HO showed a significant decrease in homeostasis model of assessment-insulin resistance relative to changes in the LO group.

* Compared to the pre- and postdose treatments, HO improved quantitative insulin sensitivity and controls on C-peptide in a dose-dependent manner.

Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of insulin resistance, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Herbal Turmeric Protects the Liver Cells Against Alcoholic Toxicity, According to Studies

By Kyle J. Norton

The liver plays an essential role in filtering the blood from the digestive system before passing them to other parts of the body.

The liver also produces cholesterol, a waxy substance which aids digestion, builds cell membranes and produces vitamin D and steroid hormones.

Liver disease is a class of medical condition characterized by the reducing partly or completely the function of the liver, including liver disease.

Alcohol intoxication is a condition of alcohol poisoning caused by excessively high levels of  the recent drinking of ethanol in the blood (alcohol). Most common symptoms are mild sedation and poor coordination. At higher doses, overexpression of ethanol may cause slurred speech, trouble walking and vomiting.

Alcoholic liver toxicity is a condition of alcohol overconsumption that causes the reduce function of the liver. However, long-term excessive alcohol drinking has been found to
induce fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, and chronic hepatitis with liver fibrosis or cirrhosis.

Believe it or not, the liver detoxifies over 80% of alcohol after entering the body.

Most common symptoms of liver alcoholic toxicity are a fluid buildup of the legs (edema) and in the abdomen (ascites),  jaundice, redness on the palms of the hands and easy bruising and abnormal bleeding.

In men, liver alcoholic toxicity may lead to impotence, shrinking of the testicles, and breast swelling.

Conventionally, treatment of long-term liver damage caused by alcoholic toxicity is focusing on lifestyle changes by limiting to no more than one drink a day for women and no more than two drinks a day for men.

In severe cases, medication and surgery may be necessary depending on the severity of the liver damage.

In acute alcohol-induced liver injury, Dr. Veronica L. Massey, the lead scientist wrote, "Alcohol consumption is customary in most cultures and alcohol abuse is common worldwide. For example, more than 50% of Americans consume alcohol, with an estimated 23.1% of Americans participating in heavy and/or binge drinking at least once a month".

And, "It is now clear that acute alcohol binges not only can be acutely toxic to the liver but also can contribute to the chronicity of ALD. Potential mechanisms by which acute alcohol causes damage include steatosis, dysregulated immunity and inflammation, and altered gut permeability".

On finding a potential compound for the prevention and treatment of alcohol toxicity, researchers examined whether curcumin protects against oxidative stress in liver and brain in mice fed excessive alcohol.

The study included BALB/c mice induced alcoholic toxicity by administrating 20% alcohol (16 g/kg body weight) with or without curcumin (0.016% in diet) for 12 weeks.

According to the tested assays, the concentrations of phosphatidylcholine hydroperoxide (PC-OOH) in liver and brain of mice treated with ethanol and curcumin were significantly lower compared to mice treated with only ethanol.

However, observation of alcoholic influence on the brain showed no significant difference of PC-OOH level among all mice.

In other words, curcumin only has anti-alcoholic liver toxicity property.

More precisely, alcoholic overdose can only induce lipid peroxide level of liver but not of the brain.

Based on the findings, researchers wrote, "...daily curcumin consumption might be protective for the liver against alcohol-related oxidative stress in mice.

Taken altogether, turmeric processed abundantly bioactive compound curcumin may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of liver alcohol toxicity, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Bromelain, a Natural Treatment of Pelvic Pain with No Side Effects

By Kyle J. Norton

The pelvic girdle or hip girdle is formed by a single bone which serves as the attachment point for each lower limb.

Pelvic pain is a pain in the lowest part of the abdomen and pelvis.

In women, pelvic pain in most cases is associated with the symptoms arising from the reproductive, urinary or digestive systems.

In women, the most common causes of pelvic pain are
* Adenomyosis is a condition associated with menstrual cramp caused by the inner lining of the uterus that breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus. Adenomyosis has a negative influence on the quality of life of patients.

* Endometriosis is a medical condition characterized by the growth of endometrial cells somewhere else instead of the inside of the uterus. Endometriosis also reacts to the women menstrual cycle, leading to severe menstrual pain with maturation with no way to escape.

* Premenstrual syndrome is a faulty function of the ovaries related to the women's menstrual cycle, affecting over 70% to 90% of women in the US. The syndrome also interferes women's physical and emotional states, and daily activities as a result of hormone fluctuation that occurs one to two weeks before menstruation and then declines when the period starts.

* Mittelschmerz is one-sided, lower abdominal pain associated with ovulation occurred in the midway through a menstrual cycle, about 14 days before the next menstrual period.

Conventionally, treatment of pelvic pain is to relieve pain with over-the-counter pain medicine, such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) or acetaminophen (Tylenol, others).

If you are a long-term user of pain relievers, please make sure you know all the side effect for preventive measure.

Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapples (Ananas comosus) has been used in traditional medicine as an inflammatory agent and to treat pains, strains, and muscle aches and pains and ease back pain and chronic joint pain, skin diseases, etc.

With an aim to find a natural compound for the treatment of pelvic pain, researchers evaluated the efficacy of bromelain affected by chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).

The study included patients diagnosed with CP/CPPS between January and December 2015 were randomly assigned to receive oral capsules of pollen extract and vitamins (group A) or bromelain (group B) for 3 months.

According to the returned of completed questionnaires from the 65 male patients, 8 of the 33 patients in the bromelain group showed a significant reduction in the NIH-CPSI total score compared to b24 of the 32 patients in group A.

In other words, pollen extract and vitamins (group A) treated group exerted a better outcome after 3 months of treatment.

Furthermore, levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines were significantly lower in group A compared to group B.

In the follow-up visit, group A showed a statistically significant reduction in the levels of IL-8 compared to the enrolment levels, compared to group B.

These results suggested that the efficacy of both pollen extract and vitamins (group A) and bromelain (group B) relief the pelvic pain through their anti-inflammatory activities, particularly in  IL-8.

Taken altogether, bromelain may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of pelvic pain, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of bromelain in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.
