The Vegetable Juice Which Stops Leukemia Cells From Spreading, Researchers Found

Kyle J. Norton

Carrots may have a profound and positive impact in inhibited lymphoid leukemia cells from cell cycle division, some scientists suggested.

Leukemia is a medical condition characterized by the abnormal growth of the cells in the blood.

Lymphoid leukemia cells are the abnormal cell developed of cancerous cells from early (immature) forms of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in 2018 statistic report wrote, "Approximately every 3 minutes one person in the United States (US) is diagnosed with a blood cancer. ... New cases of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma are expected to account for 10 percent of the estimated 1,735,350 new cancer cases diagnosed in the US in 2018".

The disease affects mostly people aged 55 and over, however, it is also the most common cancer in children under 15 years of age.

There is no single cause of abnormal blood cells that do not die but accumulate and proliferate.

Some researchers suggested that use artificial ionizing radiation, infected by human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV-1) and HIV, long-term contacted with benzene and some petrochemicals, medication used for the treatment of cancer, gene alternation and certain diseases such as Down syndrome are associated to increased risk of immature white blood cells development.

Frequent use of hair dyes and long-term and heavy smoking are also considered as preventable risk factors that cause leukemia.

Most common symptoms are pains in the bones or joints, swollen lymph nodes, fevers or night sweats,  bleeding and bruising easily, frequent infections, discomfort or swelling in the abdomen and general cancer symptoms of weight loss, loss of appetite, feeling weak or tired.

If you experience some of the above symptoms, please check with your doctor immediately, you may be at the early stage of leukemia.

Carrot, a root vegetable with an orange color is a subspecies of Daucus carota, belongings to the family Apiaceae, native to Asian and Europe.

In a study conducted by the Sheffield Hallam University to exam the potential effects of  injection of carrot juice in treatment of the 3 three lymphoid leukaemia cell lines and to test the suggestion of traditional medicine regarded to the used of carrot for potential treatment for leukaemia by using carrot the bioactive compounds such as three polyacetylenes (falcarinol, falcarindiol, and falcarindiol-3-acetate) and two carotenoids (beta-carotene and lutein) isolated from carrot juice extract (CJE) researchers found that
* Application of carrot juice exerts a significant effect in the induction of cancer cell apoptosis observed by the Annexin V/PI and Caspase 3 activity assays.

* Injection of carrot contained polyacetylenes and carotenoids in leukemia cell lines with the fraction from carrot extracts was significantly more cytotoxic in compared to other fractions.

* Treatment with purified polyacetylenes isolated from carrot juice also induced apoptosis, but in a dose and time responsive manner.

*  Falcarinol and falcarindiol-3-acetate isolated from Daucus carota L induced a most significant cytotoxic activity in compared to falcarindiol.

Surprisingly, in contrast, the carotenoids, the major bioactive compound found abundantly in carrot demonstrated the insignificant effect on either apoptosis or cell proliferation in all tested cell line.

These result illustrated a strong message that the efficacy of carrot in the treatment of was attributed to chemical compound polyacetylenes rather than beta-carotene or lutein as hypothesized by some literature.

Further analysis also suggested that the cytotoxic effects of polyacetylenes were most efficacy in facilitated apoptosis and inhibited proliferation through the arrest of the cell cycle.

Additional investigation of carrot juice extract against expression of on myeloid and lymphoid leukemia cell lines in compared to normal hematopoietic stem cells also conducted by the same institute, suggested that treatment of carrot juice extracts for up to 72 hours in vitro display a strong effect in induction of cancer cells death observed by the annexin V/propidium iodide staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Furthermore, in compared to normal cell lines, injection also inhibited the progression of the cancer division through the cell cycle arrested observed by the cell cycle analysis and cell counts.

Interestingly, application of the extract exerted a higher inhibitory effect in lymphoid cell lines in compared to myeloid cell lines, without affecting the normal and healthy hematopoietic stem cells.

Finally, after taking into account of other co and confounders, Dr. said, "extracts from carrots can induce apoptosis and cause cell cycle arrest in leukemia cell lines. The findings suggest that carrots may be an excellent source of bioactive chemicals for the treatment of leukemia ".

The found evidence suggested that carrot juice and its bioactive compound polyacetylenes may be considered as functional foods for ameliorated risk, progression, and treatment of lymphoid leukemia.

However, further data collection on large example size and multi-centers studies performed with human consumption of the whole food during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of carrot juice anti-leukemia possibilities.

How to Protect Your Inner Eye Pressure Against Early Onset of Glaucoma

Kyle J. Norton

Intake of fennel may have a potential and positive effect in reduced ocular hypertension, the early onset of glaucoma, some scientists suggested.

The results of this investigation were conducted by numbers of respectable research centers, including Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research and published on online medical literature.

Ocular hypertension is a condition characterized by elevated fluid pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure), in most case, without inducing optic nerve damage or visual field loss.

Normal eye pressure is in ranges between 10-21 mm Hg. Eye pressure over 21mm Hg is considered as ocular hypertension.

People with ocular hypertension do not develop a peripheral vision and ocular disease. However, the condition may consider as a risk factor in the early onset of glaucoma.

Medication such as bisphosphonate, cyclosporine, tacrolimus,.... and minocycline used for treatment for osteoporosis, erectile dysfunction, and prostate conditions may increase pressure in the ocular.

The Glaucoma Research Foundation, patients with ocular hypertension may not experience any symptoms that affect the inner eye structure or vision abnormality, however untreated ocular hypertension may facilitate glaucoma, a multi-factorial, complex eye disease with specific characteristics such as optic nerve damage and visual field loss.

According to statistic, approximately, 3-6 million people in the United States have intraocular pressures of 21 mm Hg or higher, affecting 4%-10% of the population older than 40 years with no signs of glaucomatous damage.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a plant species of the genus, belongings to Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), native to the Mediterranean.

The herb or foot has been used in traditional and herbal medicine as warming, carminative, antispasmodic, antidepressant agent and to stimulate the appetite, ease indigestion, soothe coughing, reduce intestinal spasms, to regulate the menstrual cycle and relieve PMS,...

In the evaluation of the effect of aqueous extract isolated from Foeniculum vulgare in experimental models of glaucoma, researchers at the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research found that application of aqueous seed extract of Foeniculum vulgare exerted significant activities in reduced the intraocular pressure of tested model by 17.49, 21.16 and 22.03%.

In normotensive rabbits, application of the same doses induced an insignificant change of fluid pressure.

These result suggested that aqueous extract isolated from Foeniculum vulgare demonstrated an oculohypotensive activity only on infectious subjects without causing harm to normal eye pressure.

Aqueous extract of Foeniculum vulgare possesses significant oculohypotensive activity similar to those of timolol, a conventional medicine used as an eye drop to treat increased pressure inside the eye such as in ocular hypertension and glaucoma.

Further analysis, researchers also suggested that at a dose of 0.6%, the extract may have potential to treat acute and chronic models of glaucoma.

After taking into account  co and confounders, Dr. Agarwal R, the lead scientist also found, "A maximum mean difference of 31.20% was observed between vehicle-treated and extract treated eyes in water loading model while a maximum mean IOP lowering of 31.29% was observed in steroid-induced model of glaucoma".

Although, aqueous extract isolated from Foeniculum vulgare demonstrated a strong efficacy against the oculohypotensive activity, scientists participated in the study were still worry about the existence of possible toxicity.

The study reconfirmed the use of Fennel seeds to benefit vision in traditional herbal medicine and the Romans viewed the fennel plant as the herb of eyesight.

However, due to the limitation of information findings, patients with hyper intraocular pressure should consult with related field specialists before applying fennel extract.

Moreover, intake of fennel extract should be taken extreme care, as overdoses may induce to prevent liver toxicity and damage to eyesight

Strawberry, The Delicious Fruit Gobbles Up Plaques That Cause Atherosclerosis

Kyle J. Norton(Scholar, Master of Nutrition), all right reserved.

Intake of strawberry daily may have a potential and therapeutic effect in reduced risk and treatment of atherosclerosis, some scientists suggested.

Atherosclerosis is a medical condition caused by plaques gradually building up on the wall of arteries.

Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood.
Long-term accumulated of plaques in the arteries can cause hardening of the arterial wall, narrow the artery that has a negative impact in blocking the function of an artery in transport nutrients and oxygen to the body needs.

Patients with atherosclerosis are most likely have precondition of high blood cholesterol. According to the American Heart Foundation, atherosclerosis developed is totally depending on where plaque develops, type of artery affected.

In other words, depending on where the plaques deposited in the arteries, patients may develop coronary heart disease, angina (chest pain from reduced blood flow to the heart muscle)
carotid artery disease, peripheral artery disease,........ and chronic kidney disease.

There is no single cause of atherosclerosis. Some researchers suggested that a set of medical conditions such as high blood pressure, long-term cadmium accumulation caused by cigarette smoking, high blood cholesterol,... and calcium caused by oversecretion of hormone in response to parathyroid glands signaling.

Truly, atherosclerosis usually doesn’t cause symptoms in the early stage of onset.
However,  as aging progress and narrowing in the artery becomes severe, blood flow may be blocked off, leading to rupture and blood clot.

According to the Heart Foundation in the UK, approximately, 2.6 million people in the UK have narrowing of the arteries around the heart, which can lead to a heart attack, angina,

In the study of 36 subjects with T2D (23 females; mean body mass index 27.90 ± 3.7; mean age 51.57 ± 10 years) were randomly divided into two groups
* The treatment group consumed 2 cups of FDS beverage (50 g of FDS is equivalent to 500 g of fresh strawberries)

* The control group consumed macronutrient matched placebo powder with strawberry flavor in a randomized double-blind controlled trial.

* Both groups consumed the designed supplement daily for 6 weeks

At the end of the experiment, researchers found that FDS supplementation significantly decreased C-reactive protein levels and lipid peroxidation in the form of malondialdehyde (MDA).

In other words, FDS inhibited production of inflammatory cytokines caused by overexpression of free radical in stimulated cholesterol building up in the arteries through oxidation.

Malondialdehyde (MDA) is biomarker of lipid peroxidation and C-reactive protein levels is a biomarker of inflammation.

Furthermore, application of FGS also reduced expression of HbA1c (-5.7%, p h< 0.05) andsignificantlyt increased total antioxidant status in compared to placebo.

These results suggested that FGS also has a strong effect in reduced three-month average plasma glucose concentration and improved antioxidant status, the indications of decreased risk of devastating complications, including atherosclerosis.

Dr.Moazen S, the lead author after taking into account of co and con fouders, said, "FDS improved glycemic control and antioxidant status, and reduced lipid peroxidation and inflammatory response in patients with T2D. Supplementation with freeze-dried berry products, as natural sources of antioxidants with low glycemic index".

Moreover, the study of 27 subjects with metabolic syndrome (2 males and 25 females; body mass index, 37.5 +/- 2.15 kg/m(2); age, 47.0 +/- 3.0 years [means +/- SE]) with treatment group consumed 4 cups of freeze-dried strawberry beverage (50 g freeze-dried strawberries approximately 3 cups fresh strawberries) and control group consumed equivalent amounts of fluids (controls, 4 cups of water) daily for 8 weeks conducted by the Oklahoma State University suggested that strawberry supplementation significantly decrease total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in compared to control group.

Additionally, the treatment group also decreased circulating levels of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1, a biohumoral correlate of atherosclerosis in compared to controls at 8 weeks.

The findings provide a strong evidence that whole food strawberry in frozen form processes an anti cholesterol and atherosclerosis activity.

Dr, Basu A, the lead scientist at the final report of the study wrote, "short-term freeze-dried strawberry supplementation improved selected atherosclerotic risk factors, including dyslipidemia and circulating adhesion molecules in subjects with metabolic syndrome".

More importantly, the Basu A1 and Lyons TJ. study of berries implication on metabolic syndrome indicated that strawberry not only supports therapeutic roles  in metabolic syndrome, a prediabetic state characterized by several cardiovascular risk factors but also lower total and LDL-cholesterol and surrogate biomarkers malondialdehyde and adhesion molecules of atherosclerosis.

Taken together, strawberry may be considered as a function food in prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis through decreasing levels of blood cholesterol.

People with a higher risk of atherosclerosis may want to add a portion of fresh strawberry into their diet for preventive measure.

Beet, A Potent Veggie Which Kills Skin Cancer Cells in Vivo and Vitro

By Kyle J. Norton

Beet, or beet root may have a therapeutic potential in inhibited onset of skin cancer, some scientists suggested.

Skin caner is a medical condition characterized by abnormal skin cell growth in disordered and uncontrollable ways.

Skin cancer is still a major cause of morbidity and mortality in US. According to statistic provided by Skin Cancer Foundation, approximately, 5.4 million cases of nonmelanoma skin cancer were treated in over 3.3 million people in the U.S, in 2012.

Noticeably, 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70.

According to general belief, the major cause of skin cancer is accumulative sun exposure. However, most people do not know, accumulative sun exposure during the childhood also plays an important role in increased risk of skin cancer in adulthood.

Truly, occupation chemical exposure, aging and ethnicity are prevalent risk of skin cancer onset.

People with genetic or acquired genetic mutation gene such as NLRP1 may also associated to substantially increased risk of skin cancer(4).

The Singapore Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology in joint study, wrote,"a group of non-fever inflammasome disorders, uncover an unexpected auto-inhibitory function for the pyrin domain, and provide the first genetic evidence linking NLRP1 to skin inflammatory syndromes and skin cancer predisposition".

Beet, best known as the beetroot or garden beet and belonging to the amaranth family, is a perennial plant with leafy stems growing to 1–2 m tall.

Beet with high amount of organic nitrate may have a profound effect on risk factor and treatment of skin cancer.

According to the Howard University, in the analysis of beet root, anti skin cancer effect in vivo, measurement from bioassays, beet root has a chemo preventive effect in expressed a significant inhibition on skin tumors of tested mice.

In skin tumor initiation by 390 nmol of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA) in 100 microl of acetone together with mouse skin tumor promotion with 3430 J/m(2) of ultraviolet light-B (UV-B), researchers found that administration of 0.0025% and topical application of 390 nmol of betanin, the major chemical constituent isolated from beet root, reveal a strong protection in the mouse skin cancer model.

Beside skin cancer, betanin, a regularly consumed natural product colorant found abundance in beet root may also be effective chemopreventive agent in treating other types of cancer , such as lung and liver cancers.

Other in the validated sugar beet pectin/gelatin hydrogels, in vivo, conjunction with anti cancer chemodrug, doxorubicin, demonstrated a successfully suppressed growth of a solid tumor created by applied to skin of mouse melanoma B16F1 cells into nude mice.

The findings reveal that beet, with high amounts of nitrate may be used as therapeutic and functional food in attenuated risk and treatment of skin cancer alone or combined with other chemoagents.

Green Tea, A Healthy Beverage That Inhibits Aging Expression of Seborrheic Keratoses

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in treatment of seborrheic keratosis , some scientists suggested.

Seborrheic keratosis is a common skin disorder in older adults with appearance a brown, black or light tan growth on the face, chest, shoulders or back.

Although the disorder is painless and required no treatment, the seborrheic keratosis may annoy some people if they develop in the face areas.

The causes of Seborrheic Keratoses are not known. However, some researchers suggested, prolonged sun exposure may play a role in stimulated onset of the condition..

Luckily, Seborrheic keratoses are not contagious.

Aging and family history also are prevalent risk factors of the skin disease onset.

Green tea, is a precious drink processed numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world.

In the examine the exposure of skin to a variety of environmental, chemical, and genotoxic agents that contribute to skin disease and carcinogenesis, researchers found that

* Sun ultraviolet light (UVR) is considered as the main external stress in the induction of skin disorder including seborrheic keratoses through promoting immunosuppression, oxidative stress, premature aging,...... and

*Application of green tea polyphenols protects the skin of the body against such expressions by exhibiting significant antioxidant, chemopreventive, and immunomodulatory effects.

Further analysis of the effect of skin damage induced by ultraviolet (UV) radiation in animal models of 30 BALB/c mice randomly divided into 3 groups:

* Control group ( mice), without UVB exposure and green tea administration;

*. Exposure group ( mice), which were exposed to UVB light only; and

*. Treatment group ( mice), which were exposed to UVB light and treated with 1 mL of green tea through oral gavage.

After 4 days/week of UVB irradiation  (20 minutes/day, 4 weeks), researchers indicated that oral administration of green tea exerted a significant photo-protection against UVB induced hyperplasia, an indication of abnormal cell proliferation.

These results suggested that green tea has had a strong implication of in ameliorated risk of skin disorders in the induction of overgrowth of abnormal cell and skin cell damage caused by prolonged UVB exposure, including seborrheic keratoses.

More importantly, although sun-exposed and non-sun-exposed skin, cumulative exposure to sunlight and aging have been proposed as independent risk factors for their development of seborrheic keratoses, however, in gene expression, researchers found that mutation of protein PTEN may have a strong impact the expression of seborrheic keratoses.

Phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) is a protein with function in signaling the making a tumor suppressor enzyme in regulating cell division.

Mutation of PTEN was a risk factor for the development of many types of cancer.

Some researchers in the investigation of UVB exposure against skin diseases to healthy individual suggested that UVB induced expression of seborrheic keratoses by downgraded PTEN expression.

In other words, exposure to UVB in reduced function of PTEN or mutation of protein PTEN expressed a strong effect in promoted seborrheic keratoses development.

Truly, according to the study with all animal procedures approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at the University of Chicago, to compare the tumor formation in the skin between mice with normal PTEN ( þ / þ ) and mice with PTEN hemizygosity, researchers once again confirmed that deleted one allele of the Pten gene in the epidermal keratinocytes causes the formation of tumors resembling human seborrheic keratoses(SKs) as well as of squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs)(3).

According to the University of Regensburg, genetic mutation such as FGFR3 mutations is associated with the pathogenesis of at least a subset of seborrheic keratoses.

Increased age also is also a risk factor of FGFR3 mutations.

Taken together, Green tea and its bioactive polyphenols may have a therapeutic effect in attenuated development of  seborrheic keratoses induced by overexpression UVB or UVB in reduced function of Phosphatase and Tensin homolog (PTEN) or PTEN protein mutation,

Carrot, The Root Vegetable Promotes Cytoprotective Effect In Prevented Onset of Chronic Diseases, Scientists Say

Kyle J. Norton

Carrots may have a profound and positive effect in reduced over expression reactive oxygen species that cause chronic diseases, through antioxidant activities, some scientists suggested.

Antioxidant is a substance characterized by its function in inhibited oxidation, especially in balanced the ratio of free radicals and antioxidant levels in the body to prevent the initiation of oxidatively related diseases.

Chronic diseases are conditions that last longer than 3 months and can not cure by medication.
The diseases are most common in aging population.

Most common chronic diseases are arthritis, cardiovascular disease such as heart attacks and stroke. Cancer such as breast and colon cancer, diabetes.

Sadly, in North America, the most common chronic disease is obesity, affecting over 28% of general population.. In other words, 1 in 3 adults are obese, according to calculation by BMI index.

The causes of chronic diseases are well established by epidemiological studies. There are a set of risk facts including unhealthy diet, physical inactivity,.... and tobacco use that induce preventable chronic illness through intermediate risk factors such as high blood pressure, and glucose levels, abnormal blood lipids, overweight and obesity.

The major non modifiable risk factors that also cause chronic diseases are age and heredity.

Dr. George E. Hardy, Jr, the lead scientist in the study of "The Burden of Chronic Disease: The Future is Prevention" wrote, "Chronic diseases impose an enormous financial and societal burden on the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), chronic diseases today account for 70% of the deaths of all Americans and 75% of this country’s annual health care costs" and More importantly, "Unless we take steps now to deal effectively with chronic diseases, our nation is headed for a serious financial and quality-of-life crisis"(4).

Carrot, a root vegetable with orange color is a sub spices of Daucus carota, belongings to the family Apiaceae, native to Asian and Europe.

The efficacy of carrot acted as an antioxidant to protect against oxidation was reported by numbers of institution including the Texas A&M University and University of Messina.

According to the investigation of phenolic antioxidants in three carrots cultivars (Navajo, Legend and Choctaw) were studied under different wounding intensities (A/W) during storage, researchers found that carrot soluble phenolics exert a significant antioxidant capacity (AOX), and PAL activity in protect against increased with A/W for all cultivars.

In Intense wounding (23.5 cm(2)/g) induced an ∼2.5- and ∼12.4-fold displayed a strong in increased production of soluble phenolics and AOX, respectively, after 4 days in compared to whole and lesser wound carrots through the AOX synthesis of mainly chlorogenic acid (5-CQA) and 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid.

These results suggested that intentional carrot wound may have a potential effect as an inexpensive rich source of phenolic antioxidants for the regular diet (with some resistances from public), as Dr. Surjadinata BB, the lead author said, " By simply increasing wounding stress intensity, it is possible to enhance the biosynthesis of phenolic antioxidants".

Moreover, according to the investigation of the polyphenolic profile and biological properties of a black carrot crude extract (BCCE) through an in-depth analysis of the main polyphenolic effect in antioxidant and cytoprotective properties.

Black carrot (Daucus carota L. ssp. sativus var. atrorubens Alef.) is a valuable source of carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.

The root vegetable contains also high amounts of anthocyanins in expression of the characteristic of deep-purple color.

Anthocyanins are known as natural dyes used in the food and pharmaceutical industry.

According to the experiment, application of black carrot crude extract (BCCE) demonstrated a strong antioxidant through free radical scavenging activity, observed in the hydrogen transfer-based assays (ORAC and β-carotene bleaching) and a significant increase in the cell viability.

The increase in the cell viability may be attributed to the extract in stimulated production of antioxidants of itself and antioxidants found in the body tissue of the host in inhibited the over expression of ROS, resulting in balancing the antioxidants and free radical ratio.

Furthermore, BCCE exhibited a strong anti-angiogenic activity against free radical in alternated DNA of healthy cells in initiation of tumor proliferation, at the highest concentration assayed on the chick chorioallantoic membrane (50μg/egg).

Interestingly, ingestion of black carrot crude extract (BCCE) also promoted cytoprotective effect against ROS in causing healthy cell damage and apoptosis.

The analysis of above studies was supported by the joint investigation of purple carrot (PC) as a valuable source of antioxidants in modulated the reactive oxygen species (ROS) level in the gastrointestinal tract conducted by numbers of institutes, lead by the Poznań University of Life Sciences.

According to the end experiment, application of purple carrot (PC) showed a strong effect in inhibited colonic cells in situ after allowing passage to the gastrointestinal tract.

At dose of 1mg/mL, purple carrot exhibited intracellular ROS-inhibitory capacity observed by 18.4% decreased expression of reactive oxygen species ROS.

Moreover, at inhibited rate of 20.7%, the extract demonstrated a significantly protective effect against free radicals in damage to the DNA of colon mucosa cells.

After taking account of other con founders and re-examine the final results, Dr.Olejnik A, the lead scientist said, "PC extract is capable of colonic cells' protection against the adverse effects of oxidative stress".

Taken together, Carrot regardless to color with abundant bioactive phytochemicals may be considered as functional food in reduced risk, progression and treatment of oxidative induced chronic diseases.

Green Tea Extract EGCG, A Novel Topical Ingredient for Cold Sore, Scientists Found

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and and treatment of cold sore (herpes simplex labialis infection), some scientists suggested.

Cold sore is common skin disease characterized by tiny blisters that develop on the lips or around the mouth caused by the infection of  herpes simplex virus strain HSV-1 mostly.

Believe or not, over 80% of North American population have herpes 1 virus living permanently in their body without causing any health problem. However, the dormant virus can quickly multiple to affect the skin in the lips if the immune system is weakened or triggered by  certain conditions such as prolonged stress, digestive disorder.

The virus is very contagious, anyone who comes to direct contact with infected person can easily be infected.

Most common symptoms of cold sore include sensations, tingling,,...... pain, or numbness on the lip and skin surround the lip.

Cold sore that appears inside the mouth may be troublesome, as the condition interferes with food injection and speech.

In numbers of severe case, herpes 1 virus may infect the eye, brain, leading to vision loss and certain brain infectious diseases.

Conventional anti viral medicine used for treatment of cold sore may be effective such as  Zovirax, Famvir,..... and valacyclovir, but they can induce certain side effects including digestive discomforts,..., headache, dizziness,.... and tiredness.

In the reaffirmed the efficacy of atechins from the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) therapeutic effect on herpes simplex virus infections in vitro and in vivo, researchers conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial with 40 participants.

The aim of the joint study is to clinically evaluate a topical proprietary formulation containing lipophilic catechins (AverTeaX, Camellix, LLC, Evans, GA, USA) on recurrent herpes labialis.

In compared to vehicle group treated with 100% glycerin USP, CVS Pharmacies, Inc., Woonsocket, RI, USA), topical application of AverTeaX applied six to eight times daily showed a strong reduction in clinical episode duration (median 4.5 days vs. 9 days) and shortened blistering and ulceration stages within an episode from a median of 3 days to 1 day.

According to the median quality-of-life scores, AverTeaX treated group demonstrated in respect to duration of itching, from a median of 4 days to 1 day, and duration until symptom free, from a median of 8 days to 4 days.

Interestingly, both groups displayed a similar in median scores for itching, pain, burning, swelling, bleeding, and stress.

No adverse effects were found in both groups, during the term of study.

Based on these results, Dr. Zhao M, after taking into account of other co founders, said, "AverTeaX formulation containing lipophilic catechins effectively inhibited herpes simplex labialis infection with clinical significance".

Additionally, in further analysis to address the green tea extract in reduced expression of HSV in precipitated risk of skin infection, including cold sore and reconfirmed EGCG anti-oxidant activity in inhibited number of plaques in HIV-infected cultured cells, a study to evaluate the efficacy of modified EGCG palmitoyl-EGCG (p-EGCG), as a topical antiviral agent for Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1) infections was conducted.

p-EGCG is not toxic to cultured Vero cells, according to the  cell viability and cell proliferation assays

According to the results, application of  p-EGCG increased the effectiveness of EGCG as an antiviral agent.

In compared to EGCG topically applied to skin, one of the primary tissues infected by HSV, green tea polyphenol epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) with palmitate was a more potent inhibitor of Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV-1).

Observation of other assays used in the experiment, p-EGCG concentrations of 50 µM or higher exerted linearly in blocking the production of infectious HSV-1 particles.

These efficacy suggested that p-EGCG may be considered as potent and natural ingredient in inhibited HSV-1 adsorption to Vero cells.

Thus, p-EGCG may provide a novel treatment for HSV-1 infections, including cold sore.

The findings suggested that topically green tea used combination of other herbal ingredients or green tea extract used alone may have a therapeutic potential in treatment of cold sore caused by herpes simplex virus HSV-1 infection)
