The Magic Bean That Processes Anti Chronic Diseases' Activities

Kyle J. Norton

The use of plants for healing purposes has been predated long before the existence of modern medicine.

Recent study suggested regular intake of kidney bean may have a potential effect in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases.

Chronic diseases are medical conditions that last more than 3 months or more and can not be cured.

According to WHO in the article of "Noncommunicable diseases" suggested, "The four main types of noncommunicable diseases are cardiovascular diseases (like heart attacks and stroke), cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructed pulmonary disease and asthma) and diabetes"(4).

Some chronic conditions also are correlated to other diseases, such as  chronic conditions of high blood cholesterol and pressure are associated to increase risk of heart attack and stroke.

According to the Center for diseases control and prevention statistic, approximately, over 117 million people worldwide had one or more chronic health conditions. And 1 in 4 adults had two or more chronic health conditions(5).

The chronic diseases are the 7th most common causes of death in 2014(5).

Although most common causes of chronic condition are either debatable or depending to types of condition. However, some researchers suggested that physical activity, poor nutrition, tobacco use, and excessive alcohol drinking are the most common risk factors.

Chronic diseases today have become a burden of the health care system, according to CDC. In US, the conditions cost over 68% of annual health care expenditures of $2.7 trillion(5).

Depending to types of chronic condition, patients may experience some correlated symptoms
* In Patients with cardiovascular diseases, the symptoms include chest pain, chest tightness, chest pressure and chest discomfort (angina),....and shortness of breath.

* Depending to types of cancer, symptoms may including blood in the urine, hoarseness, persistent lumps or swollen glands. ... and indigestion or difficulty swallowing.

 * Patients with chronic respiratory diseases may experience shortness of breath, especially during physical activities, wheezing,... and
chest tightness.

* Patients with diabetes may include symptoms of unusual thirst, frequent urination, weight change,........ and extreme fatigue or lack of energy.

Kidney bean is very popular because of its kidney shape, strong flavor and color of reddish brown in nature. The bean often is an excellent dietary selection with no cholesterol, but a good source of protein and minerals.

According to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, consumption of kidney bean regularly attenuated the increased glycaemic stress (hyperglycaemia and hyperinsulinaemia) including diabetes, CVD and cancer.

Dr. Hutchins AM, the lead author said, " (The efficacy of kidney in reduced risk of chronic illness may be attributed to the) glycaemic response and the impact that relationship may have on the risk of developing diabetes, CVD and cancer".

In the study to compared two different illumination conditions during germination (12 h light/12 h dark vs 24 h dark) in lentils (Lensculinaris L.) and kidney beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), melatonin content exerted a significantly antioxidant activity in protection against free radicals as well as showing the use of food as preventive strategies in combating chronic diseases through the diet.

Furthermore, the investigation of phenolic rich extracts obtained from two kinds of common beans, white kidney beans (WKB) and round purple beans (RPB), extracts Phenolic acids and phenolic compounds expressed a strong antioxidants and anti inflammatory activities in reduced the incidence of several chronic diseases that share an inflammatory component.

Dr. García-Lafuente A, the lead researcher in the study said, "common bean extracts may be used as a source of anti-inflammatory agents as well as a dietary complement for health promotion".

Taking together, intake kidney beans regularly may reduce risk and progression chronic illness through the immunomodutory effects involved increased antioxidant and ameliorated inflammatory activities.

****Green Tea, The Anti Allergic Inflammatory Diseases' Beverage, Scientists Say

Kyle J. Norton

Green tea may have a particular and special effect in ameliorated auto immunity in precipitation of allergic diseases, some scientists opinionated.

Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world.

Allergic diseases are a class of conditions characterized by over reaction of the immune system to substances which cause little or no harm to the body.

Investigation of the effect of green tea bioactive compounds in reduced abnormal immune allergic expression was found to associate to certain mechanisms.

According to the statistic, approximately 60 million Americans suffer from allergic diseases. affecting all age groups.

Most common allergic diseases include hay fever, food allergy, respiratory diseases such as asthma and eczema.

In rare case, allergies can trigger also a life-threatening anaphylaxis.

Most common symptoms include, itch, redden, Hives Itchy skin Rash Facial swelling Wheezing, sneezing Itching of the nose, eyes or roof of the mouth, runny and stuffy nose....and swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat.

However, if you experience some the severe symptoms of a drop in blood pressure, any form of shortness of breath, skin rash, lightheadedness, .... and a rapid, weak pulse, you may already be infected by life-threatening anaphylaxis, please visit the nearest hospital right the way.

According to the Kyushu University, Epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG3"Me) isolated from cv. "Benifuuki" green tea expressed strong and positive activities in inhibited the mast cell production in precipitated allergic inflammatory responses and suppressed the high-affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI) function in expression of mmunoglobulin E (IgE), an antibody isotype involved allergy disorder through 67 kDa laminin receptor in mediation of the suppressive effect by epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate.

Further analysis also found that the bioactive compound binds to 67 kDa laminin receptor to attenuate allergic expression induced by mast cell by suppressing the myosin light chain phosphorylation in regulated immune response to osinophil (a type of disease-fighting white blood cell) migration in the tissue, a characteristic feature of allergic diseases and ERK1/2 phosphorylation signalling by modulation of inflammatory cytokines expression.

A double-blind clinical study of the green tea effect on subjects exposed to Japanese cedar pollinosis, administration of Benifuuki green tea containing O-methylated catechins showed a significantly relieved allergic symptoms induced by pollen such as nose blowing, eye itching in compared with the placebo group without effecting the normal immune responses.

More interestingly, in mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells activated by antigens, bioactive compound epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG3″Me) in combination with ginger extract also demonstrated a strongly anti-delay-type allergic effect by suppressing cytokines secretion of tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), a cell signaling protein (cytokine) in response to systemic inflammation in the acute phase infection.and macrophage Inflammatory Proteins(MIP-1α), a chemokine involved host response to invading bacteria and virus.

In compared to the dose of 5.1 times higher in EGCG, injection of 8.5 mg of EGCG3″Me exhibited a much stronger anti allergic activity than 43.5 mg of EGCG, observed by the area under curve AUC (area under the drug concentration time curve; min μg/ml) of 6.72 ± 2.87 in EGCG and 8.48 ± 2.54 in EGCG3″Me.

Taken together, green tea with abundantly bioactive Epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG3"Me) may be considered as a functional food for protection against auto immune response stimulated by unharmful allergens.

However, further data collection on studies performed with human consumption during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of its antiallergic possibilities.

Intake of green tea extracts, such as EGCG should be taken with extreme care, as overdoses induced acute liver toxicity have been reported by some medical literature.

Beet, The Root Veggie That Inhibits Bladder Cancer Cells

By Kyle J. Norton

Intake of function food beet root regularly not only lowers the early occurrence but also provides a natural treatment of bladder cancer without inducing adverse effects.

Bladder cancer is a medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth and multiplied disorderly and uncontrollably in bladder tissues.

According to statistic, men are 4 times like to get bladder cancer in compared to women. The condition is the 9th common cancer worldwide.

Every-year, approximately 400, 000 new cases are diagnosed. The 5 years of survival rate included all stage of bladder cancer is about 77% in compared to 70% and 65% of 10 years and 15 years respectively.

The survival rate of early diagnosed of bladder cancer is at 98%.

The causes of bladder are unknown. However, some researchers suggested that smoking and tobacco used is one major cause of bladder cancer.

Long term exposure to chemicals and irritation of the lining of bladder due to infection are associated to risk factors of the disease.

Most common symptoms of bladder cancer are blood in urine accompanied with painful urination,... and pelvic pain. You should check with your doctor right the way, you experience some of these symptoms.

Dr. Martin C. S. Wong the lead scientist at the joint study conducted by the The Chinese University of Hong Kong and other institutes said, "Many European countries experienced incidence rise. A substantial mortality reduction was observed in most countries, yet increases in mortality rates were observed in the Philippines and Iceland. These findings identified countries where more preventive actions are required"(4).

Beet, best known as the beetroot or garden beet and belonging to the amaranth family, is a perennial plant with leafy stems growing to 1–2 m tall.

According to University of Urbino 'Carlo Bo', betaxanthins and betacyanins, isolated from beet root exerted a significant anti cancer effects in testing bladder cancer cell lines, through expression of antioxidant and pro apoptotic activities.

The anti cancer property of beet root also displayed a strong anti angiogenesis by blocking the cancer cell in established new blood vessel signalling.

When used combination with Vitexin-2-O-xyloside, an apigenin flavone glucoside, betaxanthins and betacyanins also exerted a strong antiproliferative activity in bladder cancer cell lines, intrinsically and extrinsically in expression of apoptosis.

The study also indicated that these combination when used conjunction in the conventional chemotherapy not only enhance the effectiveness of treatment in bladder cancer but also overcome the adverse effect of toxicity and multidrug resistance of cancer cells.

Furthermore, in other study conducted by the same university, Betacyanins (BC) purified from beetroot (Beta vulgaris var. rubra L.) tested, alone or in combination with vitexin-2-O-xyloside (XVX) also isolated from the same vegetable enhanced the ability to reduce the proliferation rate in T24 bladder cancer cells, synergistically.by inhibition of protein of gene in promoted cell survival and enhanced cancer apoptosis.

Taking together, a diet enriched with these bioactive molecules of beet root could be used as function food in prevention and treatment of human bladder cancer.

Believe It or Not, Fennel May Alleviate Daily Stress Automatically and Naturally, Scientists Discover

Kyle J. Norton

Fennel may have a potential and positive effect in reduced negative stress impact on daily living, some scientists suggested.

Stress in a natural response of our brain against any kinds of threat and demand. People responded to stress differently, some can cope with stress that no one else can.

However, if stress is over whelming, caused over productions of certain hormones that can induce strong implications in interfered one's daily activity.

Prolonged stress is found to exert physically, emotionally and mentally negative expression in various aspects, including sleep disturbance, digestive disorders,....

Some researchers suggested that people with chronic stress not only increases risk of heart attack and stroke, speeds up the aging process but also are susceptible to risk of metal conditions, such as anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems.

If you experience some abnormal cognitive, emotional, physical,....... and behavior symptoms, you may be in the early stage of chronic stress. Please check with your health service providers.

Causes of stress can be external and internal,
* External stress includes:  difficulty in relationship, at work stress, financial problem, loss of love one,...... and financial problems.
* Internal stress includes: pessimism, rigid thinking, lack of flexibility,........and negative thinking.

Chronic stress if untreated can lead to development of some serious ailments, including mental disorders, abnormal endocrine functions, cardiovascular disease,.......... and respiratory problems.

Some researchers suggested that people with untreated chronic stress also are likely to increase risk of infections, digestive problems and muscular pains, particularly headaches and migraine attack.

Furthermore, society and environment also have significant impacts on stress conditions.

According to the widely validated Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale, the top ten stressful life events for adults, include
Death of a spouse
Divorce
Marriage separation
Imprisonment
Death of a close family member
Injury or illness
Marriage
Job loss
Marriage reconciliation
Retirement

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a plant species of genus, belongings to Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), native to the Mediterranean.

The herb or food also is used in traditional and herbal medicine as warming, carminative, antispasmodic, antidepressant agent and to stimulate the appetite, ease indigestion, soothe coughing, reduce intestinal spasms, to regulate the menstrual cycle and relieve PMS,...

Nutrients
1. Carbohydrates
2. Fiber
3. Protein
4. Thiamine (Vitamin B1)
5. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)
6. Niacin (Vitamin B3)
7. Pantothenic acid (B5)
8. Vitamin B6
9. Folate (Vitamin B9)
10. Vitamin C
11. Calcium
12. Copper
13. Iron
14. Magnesium
15. Molybdenum
16. Phosphorus
17. Potassium
18. Zinc
19. Etc.

In the study to evaluate the anti-stress and memory-enhancing properties of F. vulgare extract in experimentally stress rats at doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight administered orally with an orogastric tube, researchers found that rats treated with all doses exert significant effect in reduced stress implication linearly, observed by Urinary levels of vanillylmandelic acid (VMA) assay in 24 hours.

Further analysis of fennel rat treated group  with additional injection of ascorbic acid also found that the secretion of urinary ascorbic acid levels increased from 65.74 to 78.59, 108.41 and 125.82 μg/kg within the same period on doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight respectively in compared to untreated control group.

These results indicated that fennel has a stronger impact in reduced chronic stress connotation in compared to both ascorbic acid and control groups.

Moreover, treated group also displayed a reduced expression of lipid peroxidation in both rat liver and brain homogenates catalyzed by the stress in induction of ROS production and reduction of natural antioxidant defense in compared to rat group treated with ascorbic acid.

Dr. S Koppula,, the lead author, after taking into account of other con founders said, "The (Fennel) extract also exhibited potent antioxidant effect by inhibition of lipid peroxidation in both rat liver and brain homogenates to a greater extent than the standard antioxidant, ascorbic acid".

Additionally, in the review literature of number of such drugs mostly in the form of their extracts (holistic approach) or in some,of  active principles isolated from them for their antistress activity by a number of tests, researchers found that
* Fennel may have a strong effect in reduced stress in tested mice through observation of swimming endurance and hexobarbitone sleeping time in association to stress in induction of anxiety.

* Fennel inhibits the production of level stress hormone corticosterone produced in the cortex of the adrenal gland.

* Fennel increases production antioxidant and enhanced the antioxidant defense of host such as Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and sorbitol dehydrogenase (SDH), in inhibited over expression of ROS in initiated chain reaction caused by chronic stress.

* Fennel inhibits levels of MAO in association to alternation of mood and mental conditions.

Finally, application of fennel also reduced tension of central nervous system in response to stress impact, thus reducing neurotransmitter levels in stimulated production of stress hormones in facilitated ROS production, depression, anxiety,.......

The above illustration were supported by the application of fennel oil in exerted significant anti psychiatric disorders caused by chronic stress such as depressive and anxiety in tested mice respectively treated with water, fluoxetine (0.3 mg/kg) and fennel oil (0.5 ml/day) conducted by the Aga Khan University

Repeated administration of fennel oil for 3 weeks demonstarted significant antidepressant- and anxiolytic-like effects, observed by struggling time in forced swim test (FST) and time spent in open arm in elevated plus maze (EPM) in comparable to fluoxetine treatment group.

Interestingly, rats treated group also exhibited a high levels of antioxidant in inhibited ROS in facilitated production of free radicals through lipid peroxidation.

Taken together, fennel with abundant phytochemicals may be considered as a functional food in reduced stress implication in initiation of related diseases.

Chamomile Enhances Immune System Integrity and Immune Cells Viability

By Kyle J. Norton, Master of Nutrition

Herbalism or phytotherapy a traditional medicine used botany and plants as medical treatment, linking health benefits in prevention, management and treatment of diseases has drawn much interests in today respectable scientists.

But herbal qualities, because geographic differences, time of grown,..... and harvest, are still raised some concerns of conventional researchers.

How many conscientious scientists do believe that some days phytotherapy will replace conventional single ingredient medicine for treatment of diseases without inducing serious side effects.

Would the big pharmaceutical companies whose bottom line is nothing but profits and more profits allowed that to happen?

Immunomodulatory effect is a function that stimulates T-cell proliferation, natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity, production of cytokines by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCcs),.... and nitric oxide (NO) production.

In other words, improving immune function of modulation of gene or neurohormonal system may exert a strong efficacy in protected our body against harmful agents, including micro organisms,......and immunotoxins.

Immune dysfunction can be expressed in several different ways, depending to whether the immune system is overactive or underactive.

In long term overactive immune function, patient may be experience some symptoms of chronic inflammation caused by over production of pro inflammatory cytokines. Diseases associated to these syndromes include, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), type 1 diabetes...... and Inflammatory bowel disease

Long term of underactive immune system can reduced immune function in fighting against various pathogens or toxins, leading to development of diseases. Diseases associated underactive immune function include Human immunodeficiency virus / acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS),....

The causes of immune dysfunction, in joint investigation of " Immune Dysfunction as a Cause and Consequence of Malnutrition" lead by the Queen Mary University of London, suggested "Malnutrition results from disordered nutrient assimilation but is also characterized by recurrent infections and chronic inflammation, implying an underlying immune defect." and " Defects emerge before birth via modifications in the immunoepigenome of malnourished parents"(3).

Patients with chronic immune dysfunction are associated to increase risk of morbidity and mortality(4)(5).

Chamomile is also known as camomile, common name of many species daisy-like plants, belongings to the family Asteraceae, native of the Old World.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory constituents and to treat menstrual cramps and sleep disorders, reduce cramping and spastic pain in the bowels, relieve excessive gas and bloating in the intestine, etc.

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), in recent study conducted by some institutions, restored the resistance against lethal infection with the predominately granulocyte-dependant Candida albicans in immunosuppressed mice.

Administration of the chamomile extract in five doses enhanced the total white blood cells count (up to 1.2 × 10(4) cells/mm(3)) and increased significantly bone marrow cellularity.

Some researchers suggested, "Changes in bone marrow cellularity can be an indicator of systemic toxicity and, therefore, bone marrow should be included in the battery of tissues examined for enhanced histopathology of the immune system"(6).

In other words, increased numbers of bone marrow cellularity has a strong effect in enhanced immune function.

Heteropolysaccharides found in Matricaria chamomilla L. also showed to normalize the developing of the immune response upon air cooling as a result of initiated immunostimulating properties of enlargement of red blood cells and activization of immunoregulation cells.

Dr. Ghonime M, the lead author, said, "immunomodulatory activity,.....Chamomile extracts may have therapeutical implications in prophylactic treatment of opportunistic infections and as supportive treatment in oncogenic cases".

There is no doubt that chamomile and its chemical ingredients have expressed a strong immunomodulatory activity in protection of our body against various diseases, but intake of large quantity should be taken with care to avoid toxicity.

However, further data collection with larger example size and multi centers performed on human consumption over a long term and during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of chamomile immunomodulatory possibilities.

Additionally, while addressing the possible advantages of chamomile's immunomodutary activities, researchers must also take into account of potential, risk such as, quality controls, dosages and dosage induced adverse effect of acute liver toxicity.

Holistically, The Easy Ways to Prevent and Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia(BPH)

Kyle J. Norton

Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) is a condition of increased numbers of cell of prostate tissues, causing partial, or sometimes virtually complete obstruction of the urinary tract.

According to statistic, BPH commonly starts at age of 30 and symptoms usually can not be realized until age of 50.

More than half of men between age of 60-70 are experience symptoms of BPH and only 10% are required treatment.

Suggestion of BPH is associated to nutritional status and eating habits. According to the study, 30 male patients with clinically confirmed and treated disease of the prostatic gland, including 15 men (aged 51-75 years) with BPH and 15 men (aged 51-73 years) with PC, improper nutritional status leading to incorrect nutritional habits and failing to improve their health, may be the cause of the development of some diet-dependent diseases, such as BPH and prostate cancer(a).

A proper diet with vegetable, fruit containing zinc may reduce the risk of the disease from initiation(b)(c).

Epidemiological studies, indicated intake of vegetables and fruits accompanied with healthy life style may be associated in prevented risk and treatment of enlarged prostate(d)(e)(f)in inhibited over production of prostate cells though antioxidant activity (g)(h).

Medication used for treatment of enlarged prostate may be effective in the early ad mild stage of the disease but with significant side effect, such as
* Alpha blockers used to relax bladder muscle and fiber in the prostate may cause adverse effects of dizziness and a harmless condition and semen reversed flowing.

* 5-alpha reductase inhibitors used to control hormone implication of enlarge prostate may induce side effects of infertility caused by retrograde ejaculation.

* Tadalafil (Cialis) intake may cause symptoms of redness or warmth in your face, neck, chest,.... and muscle pain, back pain.

If you are taking these kind of medicine, please make sure you discuss the side effects with your doctor.

In many instances, if the medicine do not work or symptoms become too severe, surgery may be only option, including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), transurethral incision of the prostate (TUIP),.....or laser theory.
.
If you choose to treat your enlarged prostate holistically, you may want to add one or two of below to your diet(pumpkin seeds are the best). Please note that these foods may take one to 2 months to exert their efficacy, accompanied with change of diet such as increased intake of vegetables and fruits and lifestyle.

Intake of these foods regularly will prevent onset and treatment of enlarged prostate.

Top 5 Foods to prevent and treatment of Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) naturally
1. Green tea
Green tea containing more amount of antioxidants than any drinks or food with the same volume, is the leaves of Camellia sinensis, undergone minimal oxidation during processing, originated from China.

Green tea is a precious drink in traditional Chinese culture and used exceptional in socialization for more than 4000 thousand years.

Because of their health benefits, they have been cultivated for commercial purposes all over the world.

In the examine the levels and activity of androgen hormones in associated to the risk of BPH, researchers indicated that application of green tea catechin, (-)epigallocatechin-3-gallate, modulated the expression androgenic activity in reduced progression of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

These result suggested that EGCG may be useful for the treatment of various hormone-related abnormalities, inckuding benign prostatic hyperplasia(29)(32)

5 alpha-reductase activity long has suspected to a significant impact in induction of early onset of benign prostatic hyperplasia,

According to the study conducted by the Ben May Institute for Cancer Research, and The Tang Center for Herbal Medicine Research, administration of green tea catechin (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) exerts a strong effect in replaced the gallate ester with long-chain fatty acids in acting as a potent 5 alpha-reductase inhibitors(30).

The study by the Oregon State University, also indicated that the combination of soy and tea attenuated prostate malignancy by decreasing prostate hyperplasia in male noble rats implanted with estradiol and testosterone(31)

2. Coffee
Coffee made from the roasted seeds of the genus Coffee, belongings to the family Rubiaceae native to southern Arabia.

According to Dr. Morrison AS. coffee drinking was inversely but only weakly related to prostatic hypertrophy(BPH) in 910 residents of Rhode Island who had a partial or total prostatectomybetween the years 1985-1987(33).

In a study of a total of 1369 patients younger than 75 years old surgically treated for BPH and 1451 controls younger than 75 years of age, the prevalence of BPH was insignificantly among coffee drinkers(34)(35)

However, according to the study by the Univ Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in the rat prostate gland, chronic caffeine intake from puberty may increase androgenic signalling and cell proliferation in initiated development of benign prostatic hyperplasia(36).

3. Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seed(PS) or pepita, an edible seed of a pumpkin with flat, dark green color is the genus Cucurbita and belonging to the family Cucurbitaceae.

The origin of pumpkins is unknown, although many people believe that pumpkins are originated in North America.

According the study of 20 male Wistar rats, conducted by the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, injection of pumpkin seeds inhibited the induction of BPH and through increasing the testosterone:estradiol ratio(37).

In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in over 12 months on 47 benign prostatic hyperplasia patients with average age of 53.3 years and international prostate symptom score over 8, researchers showed that PS demonstrated a positive effect in treatments of benign prostatic hyperplasia(38).

Other study also suggested that oral administration of pumpkin seed oil inhibits testosterone-induced hyperplasia of the prostate(39).

4. Coconut oil
Coconut palm tree is a genus cocos, belongings to the family Arecaceae, native to the tropic and subtropic area.

According to chemical differentiation, coconut oil may reduce total cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids, LDL, and VLDL cholesterol levels and increased HDL cholesterol in serum, etc through numbers of phytochemicals.(40).

Coconut oil reduced the increase of both prostate weight (PW) and body weight (BW) ratio, markers in testosterone-induced PH in rats(41).

5. Fish oil
Fish oil, rich in long-chain polyunsaturated essential fatty acids of the omega-3 group may have a potential effect in reduced BPH risk.

According to the study by the University of California at Davis, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) from fish oil inhibited 80% of gamDHT-enhanced activity of 5 alpha-reductase(42).

Other, in the study of the serum samples of 24 BPH and 19 PC patients, and from 21 age-matched normal male subjects, scientists found that the omega-3 PUFAs level was significantly decreased in patient with BPH(43).

However, in the study to compare the levels of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in leukocytes and prostate tissue in men with prostate cancer or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), scientists found that long-chain polyunsaturated essential fatty acids intake is not associated in reduced risk of BPH(44).

Taking together, certain foods have been found effectively in reduced risk and treatments of Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH). But large sample and multi centers studies are necessary for reconfirm the viability.

The Phytochemicals That Devour Kidney Cancer Cells

Kyle J. Norton

Lentils' (plant sources') lectin may be considered as biomarkers for detection of the early stage of varies types of cancer and treatment of renal cancer, some scientists suggested.

Lentil, a type of pulse and tiny legume that can be cooked quickly and rich in protein and fiber is a bushy annual plant of genus Lens to the Fabaceae family, native to Middle East.

Kidney Cancer is a medical condition characterized by irregular cells growth in the tissue of kidneys.
At the later stage, the cancerous cells may traval a distance way to infect other organs' tissues.
For example, if kidney cancer spread to the lung is called kidney cancer with lung metastases.

At the very early stage of kidney, cancerous tumours that are localized in surface of the kidneys.
The  most common type of kidney cancer is renal cell cancer.

The kidney is of 3 main detoxified organs with main function of filtering water and waste from your blood.

The causes of kidney is unknown, but some researcher suggested that genetic mutation, cigarette smoking, obese, family history,..... and exposed to chemicals, such as asbestos and benzene are all associated to increased risk of kidney cancer.

The cancer is only infected approximately 2% of general population and screening test is only designated for kidney cancer in people who are in higher risk of the disease.

In UK, The survival rate of early diagnosis of early stage of kidney cancer is very high with five-year survival rates for renal cancer of 70-94% for localized tumors

According to statistics reported by Dr. Lewis G, the lead author, " Kidney cancers account for 2-3% of all adult malignancies in the UK. Men are predominantly affected by renal cancer with an average age at diagnosis of 64 years. Renal (or clear) cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for 90% of kidney cancers"(4) and "RCC should be suspected in the presence of localising symptoms such as flank pain, a loin mass or haematuria; constitutional upset including weight loss, pyrexia and/or night sweats; or with unexplained laboratory tests"(4).

Imaging tests such as computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), are the best to spot cancer in patients who are at high risk and susceptible of kidney cancer.

According to the investigation of plant lectin effect in risk of cancers, by resisting digestion, lectins after intake maintained full biological activity in binding to the cancer cell remembrances or. and receptors to induce cytotoxicity, thus reducing cancer cell proliferation and inhibiting tumor growth.

lectins can also incorporate into cancer cell as an antigen to cause agglutination and/or aggregation in induction of cytolysis and inhibite expression of polyamines, small organic cations that are essential for cancer cells to growth.

Furthermore, plant lectins altered the production of various interleukins that are essential importance for the function of both innate and adaptive immunity by activated certain protein kinases in regulating signal transduction pathways in control cancer cells process in induction of tumor progression.

Additionally, lectins can also bind to cancer cell mutated ribosomes, a cell structure that makes protein and inhibit protein synthesis, thus disrupting the critical cellular processes necessary for sustained cancer cell growth and modified the cancer cell phase 1 division and  G2/M phase cell cycle arrest.

Interestingly, injection of lectins also inhibited telomerase expression in cancer cell activity in maintaining tumor progression and angiogenesis in stimulated production of new blood vessel to provide nutrients and oxygen to cancer cells proliferation and tumor expansion.

In clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), Galectin-9 (Gal-9), an animal lectin injection exerted a significant effect in inhibited cancer cell proliferation through binding to β-galactoside which is important to provide energy to tumor survival.

Further investigation of the expression of Gal-9 in a total of in 196 patients with ccRCC who underwent nephrectomy, with 48/196 patients died and 61/196 patients suffered recurrence to assess the prognostic value of Gal-9, suggested that Gal-9 expression not only associates positively with tumor size, but also induces a direct impact in the relative survival ratio, used to predict overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) of patients.

Indeed, high levels of Gal-9 was found to associate correlately to poor survival and early recurrence and the expression of lectin also can be considered as a biomaker in diagnosed clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) in early stage and lower of grade of tumor, node, and metastasis in patients who are at higher risk of the kidney cancer developing.

The finding evidences suggested that lectins from all sources may be considered as a therapeutic substances and biomarkers for treatment and monitoring the progression of kidney cancer.
