Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. High blood pressure means raising pressure in your heart.If it stays high over time it can damage the body in many ways.

Visceral or subcutaneous fat accumulation is fat accumulated in the abdominal area, leading to higher risk of insulin resistance, and its concomitant metabolic disorders (the metabolic syndrome) including atherogenic dyslipidemia(1), in comparison to those with less visceral fat accumulation.

Chronic back pain is a significant problem worldwide. According to statistic, Low back pain is a Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs, affecting over 80% of the population in US alone some points in their life. Chronic LBP (pain has persisted for longer than 3 months(5) prevalence in older adults was significantly higher than the 21-to-44-year age group

Regular physical activity has long been found to associate to the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic diseases, but regular walking contribution of health benefits of low back pain in the younger and older elderly have been lacking, probably due to body height and weight and other parameters(1), such as psychosocial factors(4).As available evidence on the association between physical activity (i.e. occupational load and non-occupational physical activities) and low back pain (LBP)(3).


But according to the review of the 2583 initially identified articles, 121 articles analyzed conducted by Fédération hospitalo-universitaire de médecine physique et de réadaptation Montpellier-Nîmes, suggested, " Moderate but regular physical activity( included walking) helps to improve fitness and does not increase the risk of acute pain in chronic LBP patients"(2).

Does regular walking reduce risk of low back pain? the Cooper River Bridge Run Study said, "runners and walkers may have a lower relative risk for significant LBP" and " Prevalence of LBP at the time of survey completion was 13.6%"(9)in this population in comparison to general statistic.
In deed, walking 4 to 7 days per week is found to reduce the risk of LB disability onset by 50% to 80% on the older Black adults and 50% on older White adults(8), respectively.

Polymalgia Arthritis is a condition a common inflammatory rheumatic disease causeing pain, stiffness and tenderness in large muscles, including muscles shoulders and pelvic girdle as a result of the presence of a synovitis in proximal joints and periarticular structures.

Osteoporosis is defined as a condition of thinning of bone and bone tissues as a result of the loss of bone density over a long period of time. It is a widespread degenerative disease of skeletal joints and often associated with senescence in vertebrates due to excessive or abnormal mechanical loading of weight-bearing joints, arising from heavy long-term use or specific injuries(1).

Regular physical activity has long been found to associate to the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic diseases but guide lines to support older adult in engagement in regular physical activity (PA) to reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) are lacking.

According to joint study led by the University of Porto, in a prospective cohort analysis among 4207 US men and women of a mean age of 73 years(standard deviation=6) who were free of CVD at baseline in the Cardiovascular Health Study suggested, walking, reduces the incidence of CVD among older adults(1).

Dr. Mozaffarian D and colleagues at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston said, "light to moderate physical activities, particularly leisure-time activity and walking, (moderate leisure-time activity (approximately 600 kcal/week), walking distance (12 blocks per week), and pace (2 mph))are associated with significantly lower AF incidence in older adults"(2).

In the comparison of physical activity patterns and leisure time between patients with cardiovascular disease and individuals without a heart disease, suggested that low physical activity and use of long time relaxation are associated with CVD and Regular participation in physical activity such as walking 2 h per week and 2-4 h per week, are associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease(3).

Further more, physical exercise, such as distance walked and walking were inversely associated with prevalent CVD in patients with type 1 diabetes(4) and walking at least 2 hours per week was associated with a reduction in the incidence of 34%–53% from cardiovascular disease among patients with type 2 diabetes(5)
