Herbal Aloe Vera, the Promising Anti Skin Diseases Functional Remedy

Scientists may have found a herbal plant for the treatment of skin diseases with no side effects, according to studies.

Skin diseases are conditions of skin damage and classified according to each pathogenic causes.

Most cases of skin disease are involved allergens, irritants. However certain medical conditions such as irritable bowel disease, autoimmune diseases, and genetic preposition can also cause r skin diseases.

Recent studies suggested that a poor diet is also associated with the onset of skin diseases such as the dermatological disease may be linked to systemic disease, and dietary changes may affect health outcomes, as in psoriasis. 

Dr. Rajani Katta and colleagues in the dermatological disease team at the Baylor College of Medicine said, " In this review, the authors focus on conditions for which the role of diet has traditionally been an underappreciated aspect of therapy".

"In some cases, dietary interventions may influence the course of the skin disease, as in acne. In others, dietary change may serve as one aspect of prevention, such as in skin cancer and aging of the skin"

" In others, Lastly, systemic medications prescribed for dermatological diseases, such as steroids, are known to raise the risk of other diseases, and dietary change may reduce this risk".

These results clearly suggested that by reducing intake of pro-inflammatory food such as fried and process foods and red meats and increasing certain anti-inflammatory foods such as tuna, salmon, garlic into your diet can be helpful in reducing the risk and treatment of skin diseases.

Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belonging to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan.

It has become very popular for commercial cultivation due to its health benefits. Aloe vera has been used in herbal medicine in treating many kinds of disease, including wound, burn healing, minor skin infections, sebaceous cysts, diabetes, and elevated of cholesterol, etc.

The herbal plant is also one of many popular herbs studied in scientific ways with some conflicting results.

The ten main areas of chemical constituents of Aloe vera include amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, lignins, monosaccharide, polysaccharides, salicylic acid, saponins, and sterols.

With an aim to find a natural ingredient or remedy for the treatment of skin diseases, researchers at examined all dermatology-oriented in vitro and in vivo experiments and clinical trials on aloe vera preparations.

According to the 40 studies selected for the investigation, oral administration of aloe vera in mice is effective on wound healing in inducing the decrease of the number and size of papillomas.

Furthermore, injection of Aloe vera also exhibited anti-tumor and parasitic effects in reducing the incidence of tumors and leishmania parasitemia by >90% in the liver, spleen, and bone marrow.

The herbal medicine was found to exerted certain skin protective effects against psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, frostbite, burn, wound healing and inflammation.

Moreover, the topical gel from Aloe vera can be considered a biological vehicle and an anti-microbial and antifungal agent against skin infection and inflammation.

However, contrary to general belief, topical application of aloe vera was not effective in the prevention of radiation-induced injuries and sunburn or suntan protection.

The results firmly suggested that Aloe vera showed some promising results for diverse dermatologic conditions.

Taken altogether, herbal Aloe vera may be used as a topical or oral administration agent for the prevention and combined with the primary medicine for the treatment of skin diseases, pending to the reconfirmation of large sample size and multicenter human study.
