The heart formed part of the circulatory system is a muscular organ that pumps blood through the blood vessels to nourish the body tissues and organs.
Cardiorespiratory endurance is a measurement of how well your heart, lungs, and muscles work over an extended period of time of physical activity.
Participating in a program of regular aerobic exercise has been found to improve cardiorespiratory endurance in athletes.
In other words, healthy individuals with optimal cardiorespiratory endurance have been found to benefit from reducing the risk of heart disease, lung cancer, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and other diseases.
Furthermore, cardiorespiratory fitness also improves lung and heart condition and increases feelings of well-being.
An article posted in the Medical News Today regarding the health benefits of cardiorespiratory fitness wrote, "Scientific research also suggests some other potential health benefits from having an improved cardiorespiratory endurance" and "For example:
A 2017 study suggests that people with higher cardiorespiratory endurance are less likely to develop high blood pressure than those with lower cardiorespiratory endurance.
In a 2015 study, researchers found a positive correlation between cardiorespiratory endurance levels and multitasking performance among adults aged between 59 and 80 years.
Improving cardiorespiratory endurance may decrease the risk of coronary heart disease and all-cause mortality, according to a 2015 study".
Ashwagandha also is known as Withania somnifera is a nightshade plant in the genus of Withania, belonging to the family Solanaceae, native to the dry parts of India, North Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.
The herbal medicine has been considered as Indian ginseng and used in Ayurvedic medicine for over 3000 years to treat tumors and tubercular glands, carbuncles, memory loss, and ulcers and considered an anti-stress, cognition-facilitating, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging herbal medicine.
In finding a natural ingredient for the improvement of health and fitness, researchers examined the clinical efficacy of herbal Ashwagandha on cardiovascular endurance and physical performance.
According to the results from a prospective, double-blind, randomized, and placebo-controlled study included 50 healthy male/female athletic adults,
* Participants who received KSM-66 Ashwagandha showed a greater increase from baseline in the mean peak physical exertion (VO2 max compared to placebo (n = 25) at 8 weeks (4.91 and 1.42, respectively) and at 12 weeks.
* Furthermore, at week 12, the Ashwagandha group showed an improvement in the quality of life (QOL) scores for all subdomains significantly, compared to the placebo (P < 0.05).
In other words, Ashwagandha root extract enhances cardiorespiratory endurance and improves QOL in healthy athletic adults.
Taken together, Ashwagandha may be considered a supplement for the promotion of cardiovascular endurance and physical performance in healthy exercisers, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
