It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, etc.

On finding the natural remedy for the p[revention and treatment of malignant tumor, scientists investigated the effects of Angelica Sinensis polysaccharide (ASP), a plant polysaccharide on liver cancer.

More precisely, Angelica Sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) was modified with a hydrophobic group (deoxycholic acid) to fabricate amphiphilic conjugate (ASP-DOCA) for a better release into the tissues.
According to the results of the DOX loaded nanoparticles (DOX/ASP-DOCA NPs) on hepatoma-targeted delivery of therapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX), DOX/ASP-DOCA NPs induced a higher anti-proliferation effect than DOX-loaded dextran derivative DOX/DEX-DOCA NPs.

Furthermore, DOX/ASP-DOCA NPs showed higher inhibition on the growth of HepG2 multicellular spheroids (MCs) than DOX/DEX-DOCA NPs.

Moreover, In vivo, ASP-DOCA NPs specifically targeted HepG2 tumors via ASGPR, improved the accumulation of DOX/ASP-DOCA NPs in tumors and generated superior antitumor activity compared with free DOX and DOX/DEX-DOCA NPs.

Collectively, researchers said, " amphiphilic conjugate (ASP-DOCA) NPs possess potential applications in drug delivery systems targeting liver cancer".

Taken altogether, Herbal Angelica processes anti-proliferative activity against cancer, pending to larger sample size and multicenter human study.
