Broccoli Protects the Prostate Gland Cells Against the Risk of Prostate Cancer

SFN and other notable isothiocyanates, including phenethyl isothiocyanate and benzyl isothiocyanate found in various cruciferous vegetables, also demonstrated a significantly chemopreventive role for the treatment of breast, colon and prostate cancer.

According to the experient, SFN showed a strong chemopreventive and antineoplastic activity against prostate cancer.

In other words, SFN used alone or a combination of other phytochemicals found in broccoli may be a promising chemopreventive nutraceutical in the context of mechanisms of prostate carcinogenesis.

Taken altogether, broccoli processed high amounts of SFN and phenethyl isothiocyanate and benzyl isothiocyanatemay be considered a functional food for the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

    Is the liver toxicity of tumeric due to its oxalate content? If so, would the purified curcumin active compound from tumeric be a safer choice since it contains no oxalate?
