Asparagus, The Whole Food Which Stops the Spreading of Kidney Cancers Cells in Vitro

Renal cell carcinoma (Kidney cancer/renal cells) is a type of kidney cancer caused by malignant cells of the lining of the tubules in the kidney. It tends first to spread via bloodstream and the second tumor generally found in the lung, but it may also spread to lymph nodes and other organs as well.

Shatavarins (containing shatavarin IV) isolated from the roots of Asparagusracemosus exerted anti-cancer properties, in vivo against numbers of cancer cell lines, including A-498 (human kidney carcinoma) cell lines.

Oral administration of shatavarin to tumor-bearing mice at doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg body weight for 10 days,, inhibited tumor cell volume and increased non-cancer cell count, through its potent cytotoxicity, compared to the untreated mice of the EAC control group.

The herbal decode also restored the normal expression of red (RBC) and white blood cell (WBC) counts and hemoglobin (Hb) concentration which are altered in patients with renal cell cancer.

There is no doubt that Asparagus has exhibited significant anticancer activity in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models but further multi and large size studies are necessary to confirm this potency.
