*****Infectious Diseases: The Anti Fungal Infection Whole Food

 The finding of whole food medication by renowned scientists all over world to replace the single ingredient of Western medicine with little or no side effect has been difficult due to no commercial benefits and patent right to producers.

Fungal infection is a common diseases  caused by over growth of fungus.
In other words, the immune system that protect the body against micro organisms has been overwhelming by the over growth of fungus.

People with weakened immune system such as cancer treatment, frequent use of antibiotics are associated to increase risk of fungal infection.

Patients with diabetes are also more prone to fungal infections. Fungal infection associated to diabetes include jock itch, athlete's foot,..... and ringworm.

Depending to the locations of infection, patients may experience symptoms of common peeling, cracking, scaling redness, blisters Itching,...... and burning sensation.

In women, signs of yeast infection may include itching and swelling around the vagina. burning sensations or pain during urination or intercourse,........ and unusual vaginal discharge.

In men, signs of yeast infection may include burnding and itching around the head of the penis,
redness and swelling, pain during urination or sex,..... an small, rash-like bumps.

Garbanzo bean(Chickpea) and its bioactive phytochemicals may be considered as anti fungal function food in prevention and treatment of over growth of fungal species, some scientists suggested.

Garbanzo bean also known as chickpea is an edible legume of genus Cicer and the family Fabaceae.

It is one of the earliest cultivated vegetables in mankind, native to Middle East.

The joint study lead by the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute suggested, chickpea with abundant bioactive compounds may be used along with the relevant antioxidant capacities as anti fungal whole food, through expression of defense related enzymes like l-phenylalanine ammonia lyase, peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase(1).
Phenylalanine ammonia lyase is an enzyme that converts ammonia and trans-cinnamic acid involved properly function of neuro function(7) .

Peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase are antioxidants  that inhibit over expression of free radicals.

According to the study by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, in the emergence of epidemic fungal pathogenic resistance to current antifungal drugs, C-25 found in Garbanzo beans(Chickpea) not only processes an effective antimycoticity but also antiproliferative agent against human oral cancer cells(2).

In support to the above, chickpea is found to exhibit inhibitory activity against Aspergillus flavus in a study conducted by the South China Normal University(3).

Cicerfuran, 2-(2-methoxy-4,5-methylenedioxyphenyl)-6-hydroxybenzofuran, phytoalexin and cicerfuran showed antimicrobial activity with MICs as low as 25microg/ml against Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas syringae, and four species of filamentous fungi, Aspergillus niger, Botrytis cinerea, Cladosporium herbarum and Monilinia aucupariae(4).

Other antioxidant such as Cicerarin(5), Cicerin(6) and arietin(6) may also be considered as
novel chickpea peptides with differently anti fungal potencies.

Taken altogether garbanzo bean(chickpea) may be consideres as functional food for prevention and treatment of fungal infection. People with  high risk of fungal infection may want to add a portion garbanzo bean(chickpea) which processes abundant biobactive compounds  into daily diet for preventive measure.
