Phytochemical Allicin and anti bacterial activity

Allicin is phytochemical containing sulfur in the class of organosulfur compound, found abundantly in onion and garlic.

Other in the study of Streptolysin O (SLO), a potent cytolytic toxin produced by almost all strains of group A streptococci, found that  allicin likely inhibits the SLO by binding to the cysteine residue in the binding site and suggested that allicin and allicin may be a potential alternative drug against streptococcal diseases.
