Healthy Food Onion in the Inhibition of Angiogenesis

By Kyle J. Norton

Angiogenesis is the process that promotes the formation of new blood vessels involving many factors including the migration, growth, and differentiation of endothelial cells.

In normal cells, angiogenesis is important for the cells to obtain nutrients and metabolites through the small blood vessels. Angiogenesis has been found to process a therapeutic effect for the treatment of ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and wound healing.

Dr. Papetti M, the lead scientist at the Tufts University School of Medicine said, "Normal angiogenesis ensures that developing or healing tissues receive an adequate supply of nutrients".
In cancers, angiogenesis stimulated by the tumor cells has been associated with tumors proliferation and metastasis.

More precisely, angiogenesis process a function of a double sword, on one hand, the process provides an ideal condition for the treatment of diseases and wound healing. On the other hand, it promotes invasive and overgrowth tumor.

Dr. Papetti M continued, "tumor cells induce the formation of new blood supply from the preexisting vasculature, and this affords tumor cells the ability to survive and propagate in a hostile environment"

Collectively,  " both normal and tumor-induced neovascularization fulfill the essential role of satisfying the metabolic demands of tissue".

Based on the findings some researchers suggested, by the inhibiting the process of blood vessels formation of the tumor, cancer may be curable.

Dr. Dai X, the lead researchers in the study of "Suppression of murine B-cell lymphoma growth by trichosanthin through anti-angiogenesis" showed, "trichosanthin TCS, ( an immunosuppressive and anti-tumor protein) inhibits murine B-cell lymphoma growth by anti-angiogenesis was reported. First, TCS inhibit tumor growth and prolonged survival significantly in vivo, and TCS depressed the formation of new blood vessels around the tumor in a dose-dependent manner".

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belongings to the family Alliaceae, a close relation of garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild or sweet.

On finding a potent ingredient which processes anti-cancer activity researchers studied the antiangiogenic activity of quercetin isolated from onion, using ex vivo, in vivo and in vitro models.

According to the tested differentiation, quercetin at non-toxic concentrations significantly inhibited the microvessel sprouting associated with cancer cell proliferation.

Furthermore, the activity of cancer cells migration, invasion and tube formation of endothelial cells involved in the process of angiogenesis.was also significantly decreased by the administration of quercetin.

Quercetin treatment inhibited ex vivo angiogenesis observed by chicken egg chorioallantoic membrane assay (CAM) and matrigel plug assay.

Moreover, quercetin suppressed vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) which has been found to induce the formation of a blood vessel for the progression of the tumor.

Additionally, downstream pathways associated with the promotion of survival and growth in response to extracellular signals that induce angiogenesis were also inhibited by quercetin in HUVECs.

Quercetin at the concentration of 20 mg/kg/d significantly reduced the volume and the weight of solid tumors in a prostate xenograft mouse model by targeting angiogenesis.

Quercetin was also found to inhibited the cancer cell viability and induced apoptosis in prostate cancer cells.

In other words, quercetin inhibits tumor growth and angiogenesis by targeting the proteins and signaling pathways that initiate the growth of new blood vessels.

Taken altogether, onion processed a higher mount of quercetin may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Bromelain Kills Leukemia Cancer Cells

By Kyle J. Norton

Leukemia is a medical and chronic condition that affects the blood and bone marrow associated with the production of immature white blood cells that can not function properly.

Leukemia can be classified into 2 types
A. Acute leukemia
Acute leukemia is a condition of the rapid increase in the numbers of extreme immature white blood cells which appear in the bloodstream and other parts of the body, including tissue and organs.

* Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is a type of cancer caused by the abnormal growth of extreme immature lymphocytes by the bone marrow and/or lymphatic system. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common children forms of leukemia, accounting 80% of all cases.

* Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is a cancer of myelogenous lining caused by the rapid growth of abnormal granulocytes accumulated in the bone marrow, interfering with the normal the blood cells.

B. Chronic leukemia
Chronic leukemia is a condition of the slow but still excessive build up of relatively mature abnormal white blood cells.

* Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a condition caused by slow growth and spreading of a group of abnormal white blood cells called B-cell lymphocytes, which fight against infection in our body by produced antibodies.

* Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a condition caused by slow growth and spreading of abnormal granulocytes.

The exact causes of leukemia are unidentified. Researchers do not know the exact factors that cause the alternation of cell DNA that promotes the abnormal growth of white blood cells.

However, they do know aging, family factors, male, smoking, long-term exposure to certain chemicals, chemo and radiation therapies, genetic proposition and certain types of blood disorder are associated with the increased risk of the disease.

Leukemia shared all general symptoms with other types of cancer such as unintended weight loss, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal discomforts and persistent fatigue accompanied by specific symptoms of bleeding or bruising, recurrent nosebleeds, tiny red spots in your skin, excessive sweating, and hight time bone pain or tenderness.

Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapples (Ananas comosus) has been used in traditional medicine as an inflammatory agent and to treat pains, strains, and muscle aches and pains and ease back pain and chronic joint pain, skin diseases, etc.

With an aim to discover a potential compound or whole food for the treatment of leukemia, researchers investigated a panel of cancer cell lines with bromelain in the presence or absence of peroxidase.

Bromelain combined with peroxidase (BM-PR) showed significant inhibition of acute myeloid (K562) cell proliferation and altered the morphological features.

The combination not only exhibited pro apoptosis against the cancer cell line but also interfered with the cell cycle division through cell cycle arrest.

BM-PR also increased the expression of intracellular ROS level in the induction of cytotoxicity and altered the mitochondrial membrane potential, against the tested cancer cells.

According to the Western blot analysis, BM-PR increased the levels of proteins associated with the activity of proapoptosis and tumor suppression.

Compared to the treatment of bromelain, researchers said, "These results suggest that BM-PR from pineapple induces apoptosis better than the only bromelain in acute myeloid leukemia cells possibly via mitochondria-dependent pathway".

In CD44 cell surface proteins involved in leukocyte binding to endothelium and the metastatic spread of tumor cells, injection of bromelain inhibited the human leukemia Molt 4/8 cells growth by reducing CD44 receptor density.

The most active in reducing CD44 receptor density of bromelain was a half-maximal value of 1.9 mu g/ml and 2.3 mu g/ml.

Based on the findings, bromelain inhibited the progression of leukemia via the reduced CD44 receptor density.

Taken altogether, bromelain used alone or combined with other herbal medicines may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of leukemia, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of bromelain in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Herbal Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara), the Potent Antibacterial Antibiotic

By Kyle J. Norton

The bacterial infection is the inflammation caused by the multiplication of bacterias after entering the body successfully.

The process of infection can be divided into many stages. However, most bacterias that try to invade the body were killed in the acute phase of infection by the immune system response through the production of the pro-inflammatory cytokines stimulated by the white blood cell macrophages.

According to the statistic provided by the CDC, each year in the U.S., at least 2 million people get an antibiotic-resistant infection, and at least 23,000 people die due to bacterial infectious disease.

Most people do not experience any symptoms until the microbe multiplication to the peak in its’ population.

Acute infection in most cases is recovered with a week or two. However, if the immune function cannot destroy all the bacterias within 3 to 8 weeks, it will compromise, leading to chronic low-grade inflammatory diseases.

Most common and classical symptoms of acute infection are aches, pains, fever, malaise, and nausea.

The chronic low-grade inflammatory state is a pathological feature of a wide range of chronic conditions, such as metabolic syndrome (MetS), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), type 2 diabetes.

A most common risk of bacterial infection is a weakened immune system, particularly in the elderly.

The Institute of Medicine (US) Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in examing the risk of infection in elderly, wrote, "The implications of an aging population for health care are being widely discussed but seldom with the understanding that health promotion and disability prevention are workable concepts for people in the “second 50” years of life".

And, "Pneumonia and influenza are among the leading causes of death and morbidity from infection among older people. Safe and effective vaccines to prevent pneumonia and influenza are available and should be universally used in persons over age 50. Nosocomial (institutionally acquired) infections have a major deleterious impact on persons over 50 and require good infection control practices in hospitals and nursing homes".

Coltsfoot(Tussilago farfara) is a perennial herbaceous plant, genus Tussilago, belongings to the family Asteraceae, native to Europe and Asia. The herb has been used over thousands of year to treat asthma, various coughs, bronchial congestion, respiratory disorders, headaches and obstruction in the nasal passage, etc.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of bacterial infection, researchers examined the effect of the flower bud extract of Tussilago farfara on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

The study is to compare the antibacterial activity of a silver and gold nanoparticles of sesquiterpenoids from T. farfara flower bud extract and the use of extract alone.

According to the tested analysis, the silver nanoparticles exerted a two- to the four-fold enhancement of the extract comapred to the extract alone in the treatment of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

The solver nanoparticles also showed the highest antibacterial activity against vancomycin-resistant Enterococci Van-A type Enterococcus faecium, comapred to the extract alone.

Based on the findings, researchers said, " both nanoparticles synthesized with the sesquiterpenoids from T. farfara flower bud extract can be applied as drug delivery vehicles of anticancer or antibacterial agents for future nanomedicine applications.s".

Taken altogether, coltsfoot and silver and gold nanoparticles of sesquiterpenoids from T. farfara flower bud extract may be considered remedies for the treatment of bacterial infection, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Berry Extract (Cranberry) Inhibits β-Amyloid Aggregation

By Kyle J. Norton

Amyloid beta (Aβ or Abeta) is the main component of the amyloid plaques that cause the gradual death of neurons, leading to the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

Alzheimer's disease is a common form of dementia or neurodegenerative disease found in the elderly.

Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia correlated with major reductions of neurons to the respective target areas, named after German physician Alois Alzheimer.

According to the statistics, the disease is most prevalent in the elderly. Approximately 5.7 million Americans of all ages are living with Alzheimer's. 15.9 million family caregivers provide an estimated 18.2 billion hours and $230 billion to people with dementia worldwide.

Alzheimer's disease is caused by a combination of genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors that affect the neurons of the brain over time. However, less 10% of patients with AD are associated with a genetic preposition. Patients with such mutated genes on chromosomes 21, 14, and 1are virtually guaranteed to develop the disease.

More precisely, Alzheimer's disease is caused by the gradual loss of neuron functioning that usually starts with the early symptom of the difficulty of remembering recent events and worsens over time.

Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing cognitive modalities severe enough to affect language communication, memory, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer's gets worse over time, and it is fatal.

Dementia is a group of neurodegenerative diseases caused by a decline in mental ability in the older population that is severe enough to interfere with daily life, such as memory loss.

Compared to dementia, neurological disorders are a class of brain disease associated with reduced function of the brain, depending on the region of the neurons that were affected.

Dr. Rudolph E. Tanzi said, "The inheritance of AD exhibits a dichotomous pattern. On one hand, rare mutations in APP, PSEN1, and PSEN2 virtually guarantee early-onset (<60 years) familial AD, which represents ∼5% of AD. On the other hand, common gene polymorphisms, such as the ε4 and ε2 variants of the APOE gene, can influence susceptibility for ∼50% of the common late-onset AD".

And, " These four genes account for 30%–50% of the inheritability of AD".

Cranberry is an evergreen dwarf shrub, genus Vaccinium, belongings to the family Ericaceae, native to Northern America and Southern Asia. Because of its health benefits, cranberry has been cultivated in some parts of the world for commercial profit and used in traditional and herbal medicine to treat wounds, urinary disorders, diarrhea, diabetes, stomach ailments, and liver problems.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, researchers examined the effect of cranberry extract (CE) on the Alzheimer's disease (AD)associated with the aggregation and toxicity of proteins β-amyloid (Aβ).

The study is to compare the effects of berry crude extracts (CE) that yield anthocyanins-free (ACF) and anthocyanins-enriched (ACE) extracts.

According to the tested analysis, the berry ACEs (at 100 μg/mL) showed superior free radical scavenging, reactive carbonyl species trapping, and anti-glycation effects, compared to  ACFs.

Furthermore, the berry ACEs at a dose of 100 μg/mL inhibited both thermal- and reactive carbonyl species (methylglyoxal; MGO)-induced Aβ fibrillation associated with the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

In BV-2 microglia, the berry ACEs at a dose of 20 μg/mL reduced H₂O₂-induced reactive oxygen species production and lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide species.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "The free radical scavenging, reactive carbonyl trapping, anti-glycation, anti-Aβ fibrillation, and microglial neuroprotective effects of these berry extracts warrant further in vivo studies to evaluate their potential neuroprotective effects against AD.".

Taken altogether, berries including cranberry processed abundantly anthocyanins may be considered remedies for the prevention of β-Amyloid Aggregation against the onset of AD, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Healthy Food Navy Bean Promotes the Expression of Metabolite Markers that Improve Colon Health

By Kyle J. Norton

Metabolite markers are the reaction of the metabolites that respond sensitively to phytochemical exposure.

Phytochemicals are plant-based natural components that form an important part in the human diet and animal feed. Synthetic phytochemicals are also commonly found in dietary supplements and pharmacological agents.

Phytochemicals are chemical compound produced by the plants to protect them against predators such as insects and bacteria and fungi. Some phytochemicals are also used in traditional medicine to combat diseases.

According to Prof. Chi Chen in the investigation of the metabolite markers of phytochemicals wrote, "the bidirectional interactions between phytochemicals and the metabolic system, such as the disposition of phytochemicals, the regulation of nutrient, antioxidant, and microbial metabolism, and overdose-induced toxicities".

In other words, phytochemicals including bioactive phytochemical play an essential role in regulating the metabolic system through many metabolic pathways.

Believe it or not, metabolic effects have a strong impact on phytochemicals on the digestion, absorption, distribution, and metabolism of nutrients and antioxidants.
On the digestive system, bioactive phytochemicals play an essential role in the human diet as a valuable source of many bioactive components: phenolic compounds, vitamins or bioactive peptides.

On chronic diseases, consumption of total phytochemical intake has been found to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancerand neurodegenerative diseases.

On the metabolism of nutrients,  gene-phytochemical interactions are individual differences depending on the individual genetic proposition, including the capacity to influence disease risk via several complementary and overlapping mechanisms.

More precisely, a person genetic variation in pathways has a strong effect on absorption, metabolism, and distribution of phytochemicals that expose at the tissue level or alter the biological response.

On antioxidant perspective, although phytochemicals and antioxidants are different, phytochemical antioxidants capacity demonstrated potential effects on oxidative status, that decrease the risk proteins, lipids, and cellular damage.

Collectively, by looking at the forms of metabolite markers, the tested assays after exposing to phytochemicals, researchers may know the inaction of the phytochemical and metabolic system.

The small, white navy bean, also called pea bean or haricot, popular in both dry and green forms, is very popular in Britain and the US, native to Peru. It is now grown and consumed across the world, due to their numerous health benefits.

With an aim to find a natural compound for the promotion of gut health, researchers examined investigated metabolite markers of dry bean consumption in parallel human and mouse studies.

The study included 46 men who received dry bean enriched diet (250 g/day) for  4-weeks and 12 mice that received a standardized diet containing either 0 or 10% navy bean ethanol extract for 6 weeks.

According to the self-reported compared to the baseline, serum pipecolic acid (PA) and S-methyl cysteine (SMC) were elevated after dry bean consumption in human and mouse studies.

In other words, serum levels of pipecolic acid and S-methyl cysteine are metabolite markers that are useful to measure the amount of dry and navy bean consumption.

More precisely, according to the unpaired t-tests, a navy bean extract-enriched diet altered 26 metabolites (9% of analyzed metabolites) at P < 0.05 and 7 metabolites (2.4%) at q < 0.05 using unpaired t-tests; the most significant being PA, SMC, and NAO (all q < 0.003).

Furthermore, identified the biomarkers of dry (navy) bean intake may improve the understanding of the effect of navy bean in reducing the risk of colorectal cancer.

In intestinal microbial metabolism, the conversion of lysine to pipecolic acid (PA) may confer chemopreventive benefits for the human host because PA is a precursor of microbial compounds with anti-inflammatory property.

Taken altogether, the dry beans including navy bean may be considered a remedy for the improvement of colon health, through its metabolite markers,  pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Herbal Turmeric Promotes Skin Regeneration

By Kyle J. Norton

Skin is a large organ that protects our internal organs and tissues by shielding them from the invasion of foreign pathogens. A number of different components, such as water, protein, lipids, and different minerals and chemicals has been found to make up the skin integrity.

Furthermore, the skin accompanied by the liver and kidney forms a detoxed triad by eliminating toxins from the body.

Skin regeneration or repair is a natural process that epithelial cells restore the epidermis once the dermis has been regenerated.

However, in major injuries, the repair mechanisms may not completely restore the skin to its original condition, leading to the formation of scars.

In details, the skin regenerates through 3 stages
* Initial phase or acute phase of infection.
The immune system white blood cells of the first line of defense stimulate the blood platelets to cover the wound or injury and production of proinflammatory cytokines, leading to the creation of new blood vessels to replace those that were damaged in the precipitating incident.

* Regeneration of the epidermis and dermis involved in the proliferation of the cells of the stratum basale and the move of a healthy portion of the dermis at the edges of the wound into its interior.

Any disruption of the process of skin regeneration can lead to the formation of scars

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of skin wound, researchers examined the effect of curcumin the main constituent found in turmeric on free radical scavenging and anti-inflammation activity.

During the experiment, curcumin was found to modulate the phase II detoxification enzymes associated with detoxification reactions and the protection against oxidative stress.

Furthermore, injection of curcumin also enhanced skin regeneration and wound healing.

Moreover, curcumin protects skin by quenching free radicals and reducing inflammation involved in protein that stimulates the production of inflammatory cytokines.

Curcumin administration also promoted skin regeneration in wound healing by improving wound-healing time, collagen deposition and increased fibroblast and vascular density in wounds.

Additonally, the effects of skin regeneration and wound healing was also attributed to the compound's proangiogenic property.

Based on the findings, researchers said, "These studies suggest the beneficial effects of curcumin and the potential of this compound to be developed as a potent nontoxic agent for treating skin diseases".

Taken altogether, turmeric processed a high amount of curcumin may be considered supplements for the enhancement of skin regeneration in wound healing, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Bioactive Compound Lycopene Inhibits the Onset and Progression Of Esophageal Cancer in Vitro

By Kyle J. Norton

Esophagus, an organ in vertebrates, is the tube that leads foods from the pharynx to the stomach.
Esophageal cancer is a medical condition that starts in the cells on the surface of the inner lining of the esophageal tissue caused by the alternation of cell DNA.

At the advanced stage, most cases of esophageal cancer after penetrating the wall of the esophagus tend to spread to the lymph node around the bottom of the esophagus, stomach and the chest, then to the distant parts of the body.

According to the statistics provided by the American Cancer Society, in 2019, approximately 17,650 new esophageal cancer cases will be diagnosed, including 13,750 in men and 3,900 in women.

Also, in 2019, esophageal cancer will also cause the death of 16,080 Americans, including 13,020 in men and 3,060 in women.

The 5-year survival rate of people diagnosed in the local stage of esophageal cancer is 45%, much less than other cancer, including 100% of breast cancer.

2 common types of esophageal cancer are
* Adenocarcinomas are the most common type of esophageal cancer in the United States, occurred in the mucus-forming gland cells in the lower part of the esophagus.

* Squamous cancer occurs in the flat, thin cells that line the surface of the upper part of the esophagus.

Some researchers suggested that the risk of esophageal cancer can be reduced by
* Medicine
Taking medicine such as aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may reduce the risk of Esophageal cancer. Researchers at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center suggested that aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs disrupt the pathway, slow the growth of abnormal cells and facilitate the normal process of apoptosis.

* Quit-smoking and quit-heavy alcohol drinking
Heavy alcohol drinking and smoking account for over 90% of all squamous cancer.

* Avoid very hot foods
Food that is very hot can cause damage to the esophagus. Eating very hot foods for a prolonged period of time can cause an infection that leads to esophageal cancer.

* Reducing intake of fried, baked and roasted food
Fried, baked and roasted food contain acrylamide, a potentially cancer-causing carcinogenic chemical. In the animal lab, studies showed that large exposures to acrylamide may cause health problems, including damage to the nervous system and increased risk of cancer, including esophageal cancer.

* Maintaining a healthy weight
Researchers suggested that avoiding excessive weight gain and obesity may lower your risk of developing esophageal adenocarcinoma.

Lycopene is a phytochemical in the class of carotenoid, a natural pigment with no vitamin A activity found abundantly in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables, such as red carrots, watermelons, and papayas,

Tomatoes provide about 80% of the lycopene in the world diet. In plants, lycopene protects the host against excessive photodamage and perform various functions in photosynthesis.

With an aim to find a natural compound for the treatment of esophageal cancer, researchers investigated the effect of lycopene and β-carotene on the viability of EC109 human esophageal squamous carcinoma cells.

According to the results from the tested assays, lycopene and β-carotene (5-40 µM) at a dose- and time-dependent showed a significant effect in reducing the viability of the EC109 cells.

Furthermore, lycopene and β-carotene also exhibited the enzyme expression of PPARγ associated with the inhibition of cancer migration and angiogenesis and protein p21 associated with cell cycle arrest and apoptosis regulation.

Moreover, lycopene and β-carotene also inhibited the protein associated with cell cycle division and tumor cell repopulation.

Based on the results, researchers said, " the inhibition of EC109 cell viability by lycopene and β-carotene involves PPARγ signaling pathways and the modulation of p21WAF1/CIP1, cyclin D1, and COX-2 expression".

Additionally, in the study by the Zhejiang University to compare the higher intake of beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, lycopene, beta-cryptoxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin reduced esophageal cancer risk, researchers found that
* The pooled ORs of esophageal cancer risk are 0.58 (95% CI 0.44, 0.77), 0.81 (95% CI 0.70, 0.94), 0.75 (95% CI 0.64, 0.86), 0.80 (95% CI 0.66, 0.97), and 0.71 (95% CI 0.59, 0.87), respectively.

* Alpha-carotene, lycopene, and beta-cryptoxanthin showed protection against esophageal squamous cell cancer, and beta-carotene showed protective effects against esophageal adenocarcinoma in studies located in Europe and North America, according to the subgroup analysis.

Collectively, researchers wrote, " Alpha-carotene, lycopene, and beta-cryptoxanthin showed protection against esophageal squamous cell cancer. This meta-analysis suggested that higher intake of carotenoids (beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, lycopene, beta-cryptoxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin) is associated with a lower risk of esophageal cancer".

Taken altogether, lycopene used alone or combined with another herbal remedy may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of esophageal cancer, pending on the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of lycopene in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.
